(00:58):
The day arrives when you finallysee this isn't a trial run, it's
your legacy.
It's not just a project, a sidehustle fling, it's carrying
weight, a real living thing.
You thought rebellion meantstaying outside, but freedom is
fragile when rules are denied.
Legitimacy feels like exposureand fear, yet it's the shield

(01:18):
that keeps our magic clear.
Your money can't flow if ithides in the shade.
A CEO shift is the moment it'smade.
Imposter no more, you step intoyour role, the business you've
built is making you whole.
Ready or not, the moment ishere, claim what you've built,
the call is clear.
Stepping into real businessowner energy is less about

(01:40):
paperwork, though that'sdefinitely part of it too, but
more about identity.
It happens the moment that youstop hiding behind the hobbyist
limbo and start holding yourwork as worthy of protection, of
structure, and of legitimacy.

(02:01):
And yeah, it can feelterrifying, but what looks like
exposure is actually how youbuild safety, sustainability,
and trust.
It's a bit of a paradox thatfeels a little shaky or edgy
when you're first moving throughit, but is actually the way to

(02:25):
the security that you're seekingthrough your business.
In this episode, we will getinto why rebellion can sometimes
be a trap that keeps yourbusiness small, the sneaky ways
money limbo shows up.
Think just Venmo me, Cash App orjust one more year of commingled
accounts.

(02:45):
I'll get my shit togethereventually.
How legitimacy doesn't kill yourmagic, it actually shields it.
The rite of passage every soulled entrepreneur faces on the
road to legit CEO.
And what shifts when you stopfearing the system and start
using it as a container to yourfreedom.

(03:08):
This episode was partly inspiredby something a client shared
with me inside Cosmic Currencyas she faced leaning into
learning what it actually meansto be a real business, how it
works in this world, financially, to steward one, and
learning what that actuallymeans.

(03:30):
What it is going to require ofher and how it is actually
putting her business out intothe world in a real way to do
so.
Upon being faced with thisthreshold, this rite of passage,
that she is absolutely ready tocross, she actually felt dread

(03:53):
because she was realizing thatshe's actually building
something real, and that takingthis step is going from what to
her felt like a protectivebubble and pushing it out into
the world, and that she neededto be the one to steward it.
Unlike when she was an employeeand it was done for her, really

(04:16):
seeing and accepting theresponsibility that is hers as
the CEO, as the boss of herbusiness.
This is something that was alltoo familiar for me to witness
as a tax preparer with myclients.
Obviously, filing taxes beinganother version of the steps

(04:36):
that we take to legitimate ourbusiness and the kind of gut
punch reaction, that some peoplewould get, recognizing that the
gravity of that they are, weretaking that step to not just
dabbling anymore, not justcharging by donation or kind of

(04:57):
making it up reactively as theywent along.
But actually, intentionallymoving toward the structure, the
compliance, the responsibilitiesin their court to actually
steward their business as a realdeal thing.
Honestly, it was an honor towitness and support my clients

(05:18):
to go through this, and still isbecause of the incredible rite
of passage that that is.
Rites of passage are often inparallel with certain maturation
processes, things that we all gothrough to get to those more
evolved versions of us in ourdevelopment and when it comes to

(05:42):
being a self-employed earnerthere often is this rite of
passage, this threshold at somepoint when you realize/decide
that you are actually going togo all in.
I don't do taxes anymore, but Istill support clients through my
signature container CosmicCurrency, to hold and support

(06:05):
this very shift where fears likethis surface and are guided
through to help with thattransition.
That is the difference betweenhaving sporadic, stressful cash
flow to foundational, reliable, consistent, sustainable cash

(06:26):
flow that can actually supportyou.
First I want to talk about andlook at the rebel trap.
Which was one that was socommon, especially for my tax
clients, to be in before makingthe decision to liberate
themselves from it by coming tome and filing their taxes.

(06:47):
So I want to look at the mindsetbehind this.
And the idea actually had somefeedback recently on a piece of
content about Saturn, and howhis authority is there to help
support us with these very ritesof passage of realizing that
true freedom through ourbusinesses is only available

(07:10):
when we actually embrace thesystem.
But often, and rightfully so,I'm an Aquarius here, so I can
100% relate, we come from aplace of not wanting to feed the
system because we know what'sbroken with it and we don't a
hundred percent back It.
But the thing is, and for manysoul led entrepreneurs, this

(07:32):
feels and seems like a stance offreedom.
To rebel against the system thatwe don't fully agree with.
But the reality is that positionoften keeps them under-resourced
and vulnerable to that verysystem.
Ironically enough, they actuallyare trapped in the system itself

(07:56):
because they don't have themeans and the resources to be
able to make choices, haveagency and freedom in how they
live their life.
They're much more limited.
The reframe that I want to offeraround this in this episode is
that the true rebellion isbringing your work into the

(08:17):
system as it exists here and nowon your terms, and finding a way
to plug in your gifts, yourpurpose, the ways that you're
here to mitigate that about thesystem that you don't agree
with.
Showing up fully, releasing thechains of those limitations.

(08:40):
The concrete ceiling that youend up staying crouched under
through your unwillingness toembrace it and allow yourself to
make the money you need to, tofully focus on the passion work
that's going to make adifference in this world for
those that are also inside ofthe system.
By legitimating your work in theworld through your business, you

(09:04):
are able to bring your values tolife, not just your resistance.
One way, practically speakingthat I end up seeing people
rebel or, you know, stay small, stay crouched down, is that
they're charging by donation, they're selling without much

(09:26):
strategy.
There's a certain fear of beingfound out that comes with not
being legitimate, that keepspeople from using platforms and
avenues that would make themmore visible and bring more
success to their business andmake it so that they can have a
bigger impact through theirwork.
That often looks like justcharging through like Venmo or

(09:50):
PayPal or Cash App.
Instead of creating an actualmerchant gateway that's going to
be tracked and taxed, or justmoving money around without
having a clear strategy orstructure.
What this does is it creates akind of energetic limbo.
It often keeps people, and maybeyou can relate with this, stuck

(10:12):
in a chaotic or reactive spacewith money where you're not able
to actually build toward thefuture or the lifestyle that you
want.
You're kind of stuck in theright here, right now, making
ends meet, again just movingstuff around to make it work.
But your business never fullybecomes real or sustainable or

(10:35):
something that can actuallysupport you.
No matter how much revenue flowsin, because it's not actually
about what's coming in, it'sabout what you're profiting.
What's left over and availablefor you to invest in other
things.
If you are not legit with yourbusiness, you're probably also
not keeping records.
You don't have the analytics, the information, the awareness

(10:59):
to be able to be strategic inthat way where the money that
you're making can actually fundwhat matters to you.
Of course the other side effectof being this way with money is
what it does to your nervoussystem.
It causes you to always be onguard, always worried that
you're going to have to scrambleto figure something out.

(11:21):
When your business entity itselfisn't separate and structured
and contained, there's energeticleakiness that comes with that
too.
Your body can't trust yourbusiness, your relationship with
money as something that's safe, and ultimately you can't trust
yourself as the one person thatshould be responsible for this

(11:45):
for you.
Now I want to circle back to myclient's story that I shared at
the beginning of this episodeand her gut punch moment of
feeling exposed and moving inthe direction of, not even yet
making moves toward deeperlegitimacy, but just learning
what that entails feltconfronting and made her feel

(12:09):
like she was giving up thesafety or protection in that
bubble that she had been holdingher business in, safe from the
world.
But in reality, it's actuallythe legitimacy itself that is
the shield and is theprotection.
If nothing else, then for yournervous system.
I can share that as a taxpreparer, I saw the clients who

(12:33):
actually had systems andstructures in place, they slept
better.
Obviously I didn't see themsleep, but they came at me
calmer during tax season.
I would see my clients once ayear at that time, and it was
the people who were stuck inthat trap of avoidance, until

(12:54):
they came to me each year, thatwould come just stressed and
frazzled, not even sure if theywere going to be able to pull it
off in time and just nervoussystem fried.
Whereas, the handful of clientsthat I had at that time, that
did have systems in place andthat were ready to meet the task

(13:15):
of filing their taxes and dothat work together, they were
more creative, they were morechill, and they had a palpable
sense of safety with theirrelationship to money than those
that were just winging it, andthat was really clear.
When my client shared this storywith me, it made me think of

(13:35):
almost every kid's movie, right?
Where it has this similar plotline of the main character hero
that has that pure innocentdream or vision or whatever it
is.
Then it meets the larger world, and whatever those forces
manifest are, whatever theantagonist or in the case of the

(13:58):
children's story, the bad guy isthat tries to keep them from
bringing it to the world orletting it live to see the light
of day and grow and evolve andthem to be able to become the
steward of the hero on the otherside of actualizing whatever
that dream or vision is.

(14:19):
You know, the storyline, right?
Because on the other side ofthat, it's real, it's a real
thing and it ends up developingthe strength and the endurance
to be able to withstand thepressure of the antagonist, the
main character is better for it.
The vision, whatever it is theybrought to the world is better

(14:41):
for it and finds its place whereit can actually serve its
purpose and help the people thatit's meant to.
The willingness to put yourselfout there on the world stage by
legitimating your business isthe step that actually enables
it to grow and evolve, toprotect it from collapse, to

(15:05):
future-proof it, to make itsustainable and able to stay the
course and make the long gamepossible.
If you're listening right nowand realizing like, yep, yep,
yep, this is totally me thatshe's talking about right now.
Half in, half out, exhausted bythe limbo of whatever your

(15:28):
version of not quite a realbusiness is.
First of all, you are not alone, and this is almost like a
prerequisite to get where youwant to be with money or to be
like those that you look up tothat are business owners.
But if you have taken nothingelse to heart, I hope you're
hearing that avoiding legitimacydoes not actually protect you.

(15:52):
It's keeping you from the placethat you want to be, and it's
keeping your business fragile.
It's keeping your nervous systemdrained, the financial chaos,
and that constant, I mentionedbefore, fear of being found out.
All of that is so much heavierthan the act of simply stepping

(16:13):
in, that changes everything.
Now, I want you to imagine theopposite.
Imagine feeling grounded, protected, and actually proud of
what you're building, and ableto be visible in that version of
you, knowing that you, once upona time and hopefully upon

(16:33):
hearing this episode, took thosefirst steps to become a real
CEO.
That honestly is the identityshift that changes everything,
the logistics fall into place.
To help you make this tangible,to help you take these first
steps, I put together a new freeguide, called The Five Simple

(16:56):
Steps to Step Into Your RealBusiness Owner Era.
These are quick wins, they'reeasy, they will cost you
nothing.
They are small symbolic movesthat really anchor this shift
that we're talking about andgive you the momentum now that
you need to get where you wantto be with money, you can go

(17:17):
grab that free guide atcosmicb.link/ceo-era.
The other thing I really hopeyou take away from this episode
is to normalize whatever the notso great feelings you have
around this are.
If you feel fear when it comesto taking some of these steps

(17:38):
that I'm talking about, ofleaning in this direction of the
identity shift that is callingyou as a business owner to
support you on the path ofactualizing your purpose and be
able to make the impact that youare destined to I believe, is
every soul led entrepreneurfaces this moment.

(18:00):
It's the truth and it's real.
It's not something that the mostsuccessful ones probably still
talk about, but it definitelyhappened.
I also want you to know that ifyou're feeling a similar dread
to my client, who by the way isalso just as equal parts excited
and'tis the case when the timehas come, when it is your time

(18:23):
to answer the call and take thesteps needed to put this rite of
passage in motion.
You're going to feel both.
You're going to feel some fear, some dread, some reservation,
but you're also going to feelthe excitement, the pull, the
call, and that's how you knowit's right timing.
Honestly, the dread side of itis actually proof that you care

(18:48):
and that you are finally seeingyour work as something worth
protecting and worth making thisshift, this transformation for.
Also, I want to remind you, itis not about doing everything at
once.
This choice is not a switch thatyou flip or something that you
just do quickly and it's over.

(19:11):
It really is a choice to committo being in the game for real
and going on the quest, walkingthe path, embracing the journey
of all of the different thingsthat that entails along the way.
Now I want to return to thatparadox that I framed earlier
on, that plugging into thesystem initially seems or feels

(19:36):
like a loss of freedom.
Often that's what keepsalternative, creative, soul led
people from embracing it, but itactually creates the
sustainability and thesovereignty that you are craving
through the vehicle of yourself-employed business.
I want to double down on thisreframe today, structure does

(19:58):
not end your flow.
It doesn't snub out your magic.
It actually holds it and createsthe container to support its
growth, its evolution, itsemergence into the world and to
the people that need it and needyou.
I hope that this episode feelslike something that's wrapping

(20:20):
you in the encouragement, thesafety, the willingness to
pursue legitimacy in yourbusiness, in whatever ways you
may have been resisting oravoiding that, as an act of
devotion to your work, to yourmagic, and to the people that
your work is meant to serve.

(20:40):
So if you've been holding back,if you've been half in and half
out, let this be a reminder thatstepping into legitimacy,
besides just getting on Saturn'sgood side, this is definitely
the realm of Saturn that callsyou as you near your Saturn
return and far into and afterit, but that ultimately it is

(21:03):
not the end of your freedom.
It's actually what makes yourfreedom sustainable and that
your business, the vehicle foryour work in the world, deserves
to be protected, to besupported, to be recognized as
real and to be able to get asbig and powerful and impactful

(21:27):
as it has the capacity to be.
If you're ready to anchor thatshift right now with simple,
doable actions, don't forget tograb your free guide The Five
Simple Steps to Step into YourReal Business Owner Era at

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
