The unexpected passing of Ozzy Osbourne sent shockwaves through the rock and metal community, leaving fans worldwide to process the loss of the legendary Prince of Darkness. For those fortunate enough to witness his final performance in Birmingham just weeks before his passing, that experience now carries profound significance.

Jenny, a dedicated Ozzy fan who traveled across the pond for the historic show, takes us inside what became Ozzy's final bow. What unfolded wasn't merely a concert but a city-wide celebration as Birmingham embraced its native son with open arms. From the Black Sabbath Bridge to museum exhibits and murals adorning city walls, the entire community transformed into a living tribute to metal's founding father.

The Birmingham show itself represented something extraordinary in music history. Headlining acts that typically command stadiums on their own—Metallica, Guns N' Roses, and more—appeared as supporting artists, each delivering reverential covers of Black Sabbath and Ozzy classics. As James Hetfield declared from stage, "There would be no Metallica without Black Sabbath," acknowledging the debt all metal musicians owe to Ozzy's pioneering work.

What many don't realize is that this farewell performance served as the highest-grossing charity fundraiser ever recorded, with every performer appearing without compensation. The event benefited three UK charities, including Parkinson's research, reflecting Ozzy's commitment to giving back even as he took his final bow. The innovative rotating stage design kept performances flowing seamlessly through the ten-hour celebration.

Beyond music, we explore how the Osbourne family revolutionized entertainment through their groundbreaking reality show and how Sharon's business acumen transformed heavy metal promotion through Ozzfest, providing crucial exposure for countless bands. For decades, Ozzy didn't just create music—he created community, connecting generations of fans through shared experiences.

As we celebrate the indelible mark Ozzy left on music history, we're reminded that legends never truly die. Whether you've followed him since the early Black Sabbath days or discovered him through later work, his influence remains immortal. What was your favorite Ozzy moment? Share your memories and join the global community honoring the irreplaceable Prince of Darkness.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
welcome to copman crawford and the jersey guy
what's going on right?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
so today we got a groovy guest is miss jenny, so
she's back because she's thehard ozzy.
So today's episode is on Ozzy.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Yeah, because you know, I was in my car when I got
the news.
Jenny and I was like the firstthing I thought about was you.
And your husband was like ohwow, I know, they know already.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Yeah, a lot of people thought of us, I think, because
my phone at least startedblowing up.
John didn't know right away.
But yeah, that 2 to 2.30 timeon Tuesday, yeah.
It was a big time yeah man,it's insane, cannot believe it.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Like that one struck home.
Man, like it really did thatwas yeah, felt that one.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
It was a big one, yeah, especially with that last
show just being done.
Yeah, quite surprising too, Ithink, just about everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Well, you were at the last show, so I mean you were
officially at the last show youwere there, which is awesome.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
You got to see him on the one last time.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
Yeah, maybe you could tell us like about that, like,
how did that go, like, how wasthe show, you know?
Like, how did everything?

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Well, the show, you know like have it everything.
Well, that the show wasphenomenal, it really was.
We hit the lottery with beingable to get those tickets.
It was any.
Any of us who got those ticketsworked for those tickets and
anybody who didn't get ticketsthey still worked for the
tickets.
You know what I mean.
So we really felt blessed justto be there, get tickets
originally, but then to be there, the energy in that stadium,

(01:47):
not even just the stadium, thewhole city, the whole city of
Birmingham was just embracingBlack Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne
where it all began, and you feltnothing but love everywhere you
went and every artist that wason that stage gave their all and

(02:07):
was there for one reason and itwas to honor them.
And you felt that.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
That is awesome.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It was phenomenal and Sharondid her job.
She put together quite the showbecause it's Sharon.
It's Sharon who came up withthis.
It said this is how we're goingto do it, and a lot of people
don't know that this event was afundraiser.

(02:34):
Yeah, it was and it is thehighest grossing fundraiser of
all time.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Amazing I didn't know that man, I didn't know that.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
I did see that.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
What was the?

Speaker 4 (02:44):
fundraiser for.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
It was for.
There were three charities inEngland One is for Parkinson's,
One is a children's hospital andI believe the third one is a
hospice of some sort.
I think it might even be achildren's hospice, but I'm not
really sure, oh wow.
Yeah, yeah, cost us, but I'mnot really sure.

(03:09):
Oh, wow, yeah, yeah.
So every single band, everysingle band that was on that
card, was there on their owndollar, and some of those bands
only played for 20 minutes wow, that is crazy man that is so
freaking awesome.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
How long was the show total?

Speaker 3 (03:19):
yeah, the show started at one in the afternoon
and it went until 11 o'clock atnight.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Nice An hour show.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Yeah, and here's the thing is that they had a
rotating stage, so thein-between time was very limited
to about 10 to 15 minutes.
It was the fastest turnover andeverything went smoothly, so
much so I think they were aheadof schedule by the time Ozzy
went on.
And so, yeah, so the first bandwent on, mastodon, which is

(03:52):
freaking awesome.
The drummer for Mastodon, hehas a Randy Rhoades drum kit and
it was up there and yeah, sothey went on.
And then the band Rival Sonswas on next and, sure enough,
when Mastod maximum was done, the stage just rotated and you
know they just need a couple ofminutes to tune things up and

(04:13):
you know a lot of people startedstreaming on a two hour delay.
And what a lot of people didn'tsee in between what we got was
were videos of other likeartists and celebrities giving
homage to Ozzy, especially andCyndi Lauper, Billy Idol I know

(04:33):
Billy Idol's guitarist isactually one of Ozzy's best
friends and they couldn't bethere because they were on tour.
But yeah, and then they showed.
I don't know anybody who hadgone to OzFest in the past, but
they used to show these funnyvideos before Ozzy came on and
it's like putting him intomovies and stuff.
And yeah, yeah, yeah.
So, and I'm sure any of thosecould be YouTube, but they were

(04:56):
showing that kind of stuff inbetween.
So it was, it was pretty pretty.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
I'm very grateful to have been there and it's really
when you leave that you really, really you know you're watching
the videos and you're feelingthe energy and you're just like
you are, like I was there, yeah, and you were across the pond,
it was yeah you know it wasawesome to be there, yeah,
experience, yeah, that type oflife over there, I bet the vibe

(05:21):
is different there too for alike like, like to see Ozzy in,
like the UK, I'm sure the vibehas got there too for a cop Like
to see Ozzy in.
Like the UK, I'm sure the vibehas got to be a little like
different, right, like it's like, because it's like a, or you
think it's the same.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
No, I would say I mean let me preface this because
some people may not know me isthat we've been to a lot.
My husband loves Ozzy Like he'shaving a hard time with this,
as many, many people are.
He loves Black Sabbath.
Our dogs have been named aftersongs and things like that.
So the love that Ozzy has isreally phenomenal anywhere he

(05:56):
goes.
Okay, the plain and simple.
But when you're in Birmingham, england, where it all began and
this event did not just takeplace at the stadium, there were
events and attractions allthroughout Birmingham Wow,
that's awesome.
Yeah, there's a bridge, it'scalled the Black Sabbath Bridge

(06:18):
and there's a bench there.
It's there and, honestly, ifanybody goes, there's a live
stream there right now and youcan see the memorial that's been
created at a lot of theseplaces, like there's mounds of
flowers and notes and whateverit might be.
But yeah, it was there.
There was exhibits at the artmuseum.
There was an Ozzy exhibit andyou got to see all the plaques

(06:41):
for his stars on the Walk ofFame, one in Birmingham and the
other one in Hollywood.
They had murals all throughoutthe city and then there was a
life-size Lego Aussie in oneplace.
So this wasn't just go to thevenue and this is it.
It really was all of Birminghamand there were a lot of

(07:04):
Americans there, a lot of peoplefrom the UK and a lot of Irish
there was people from all over, but that's something that I
noticed, so but yeah, so theenergy, that yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Now was, is does, was Oz, oz Fest, the same kind of
thing.
You know, like just all thatstuff out there, like you know,
the food trucks and theattractions and things like that
.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
Yes, ozfest, I think that's OzFest.
The original OzFest was 1997.
And the reason that wasactually developed so people
know this is that because Ithink one of the other festivals
, kind of shunned Ozzy and Shan, was like no, no, no, we're not
doing that.
So they started their own andthat's how Ozzfest got started.
So Ozzfest also had multiplestages.

(07:52):
So when you have a whole listof about 15 to 20 acts, do you
know what I mean?
Like, let's say that the bandthat we had at this last concert
, they all played small on onestage, small sets, but these
other bands would play full sets.
So you'd have multiple stages, you would have tons of food,
yeah, all that.
And sometimes, like, you'd haveother like tents and pop-ups

(08:15):
and just a lot of differentthings, and it used to travel.
And then it got down to thepoint where they were individual
shows.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
Okay, okay, that makes sense, that is a music
festival, so there was just somuch going on, you know.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
Yeah, yeah, it was like a metal festival.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Yeah, exactly the whole entire thing is an event,
hell yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
Yeah, yeah, and then in the that was 1997 it started.
So then in the later years andlike they ended up going one-off
shows.
Japan had a few of those, andthen the last two OzFests
actually were a combination ofOzFests and KnotFests from
Flipknot.
That's their festival.
So it was two days, yeah, twodays.

(08:57):
The first day was OzFests, thesecond day was KnotFests, and
they were out in San Bernardino, california.
So we were there.
Yeah we were there.
That was the last time I saidI'd camp at a festival.
That's funny, yeah yeah.
And then, after that, ozzy wenton, was trying to do his no More

(09:19):
Tours.
He was on his final tour andthen his last show that he
actually did before this mostrecent show was in California
and it was on New Year's Eve,2018 to 2019.
We were there and you got tobring in the new year with Ozzy

(09:40):
Osbourne spraying us down withwater and everything else, and I
got to tell you that was theshow of all.
That was before this show, theshow of all shows, because you
felt like Sharon and Ozzycreated a private party for you,
the way there were tables setup outside bar top tables and it
was yeah, they take care of you.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
They appreciate their fans for sure.
Now, the funny is that you saidthat you.
I said, oh the super fan, wouldyou be on the show or whatever?
And you're like, oh, I don'tknow about that.
Meanwhile, listening to youright now, you are like you and
John are like the super fans.
What do you think?
You guys are awesome?
There's more information rightthere that I didn't even know

(10:24):
about.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
I'm like what?
That's great, that is awesome.
Jenny, when you got off theplane, did you see anything
right away?
Was there anything out in theway in the airport that way, in
reference to the to the uh theconcert.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Not necessarily.
We flew into Heathrow and whichis like around London and there
is an airport in Birmingham, but we weren't at that airport
but you could tell who was therefor the show, because it
started.
It started at JFK when we leftyou see people with the shirt.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
You're going at JFK.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
And then you get somewhere else.
They're like yo, you're goingto the show.
And there were people we raninto because there was a player
show in London or in the Londonarea the next night and so there
were people that were there forthat and they were like, oh,
you were at the show.
You know what I mean, becauseyou could buy.
Yeah, it was.
Uh, yeah, we're.
We're very, very grateful and,honestly, yes, I, I'm a fan of

(11:21):
Ozzy, I'm a fan of Black Sabbath.
I remember, you know, there'sso many memories that not just
mine and John's relationship, Imean.
The first Oscars 2004 that Iwent to was the first concert
I'd ever gone to with Johnthat's the first concert I'd
gone to with John even then, andwe weren't even together then,
we were just close friends so itis a big part of our life and

(11:44):
the history.
You can't help but learn a lotabout them.
You know documentaries andmeeting them.
We just we just saw theosbournes in person in 2022
right.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
So yeah, yeah, I love hearing all that because, like
it's so, it's so cool to be likea mega fan right like actually
like go and see all these shows.
That's like so dedicated.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
I really love it and each each, every, you know, each
band of course has their own,but you know you're talking
about ozzy osbourne.
Yeah, that's the guy he's, youknow top heavy metal.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
He's his own brand, yeah yeah there was nobody.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
Excuse me, jenny, real quick.
Gene simmons said he wastalking about, and he said there
was nothing before ozzy.
He said he was talking about itand he said there was nothing
before Ozzy.
He said Ozzy created himself.
Right, he says there wasnothing that he could get from
the past that he you know thathe had in order for him to come
up with this idea.
Right, this was just who he was.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
we can say, and he's a legend, yeah yeah, he is and
that's, and that's it, any onthat stage again, any band that
played?
I mean, where do you know everknow of metallica to open for
anybody?
Where do you ever know of gunsand roses to open like?
These are headlining bands thatprobably haven't opened quote,

(13:00):
unquote, open for anybody in thelast 10, 15 years.
You know what I mean theyprobably jumped right away
Exactly, and they were there andthe first thing that James
Hetfield said from Metallica wasthere would be no Metallica
without Black Sabbath.
Because a lot of people may notknow, the first main tour that

(13:23):
really Metallica big tour thatMetallica was on was Rock.
Sabbath brought them out withthem and a lot of other
musicians too Sharon and Ozzywere very big into supporting
young artists Was to supportthese smaller bands and to give

(13:45):
them an avenue to promotethemselves and to bring our
community together.
The rock and metal community issomething like when I was
brought into.
I mean, I've always loved thismusic, but when you really
become a part of this world yourealize, like you know, fd shows
your very state.
It is not unsafe at all becauseevery single person there you're

(14:08):
considered family and everybodyis aware of every person, aware
of them, and right now theAussie and black Sabbath family,
which we're all a part of is isgrieving together, they're
mourning together and you seethat through all the posts.
I don't think any of us canpull up anything Google or any
of our feeds without somethingbeing on there.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
So right, yeah, that is that is wild man, dad, and,
like I said, you know, you and Iwere talking earlier.
You know just the idea of oflike.
Did you even feel that this wasgoing to be like his last one?
Not so much that he was goingto pass away, but that he wasn't
going to do any more concertsor anything?

Speaker 1 (14:44):
like that.
Yeah, a lot of people aresaying that this, he knew he
needed to do this.
One last thing, get it done.
He wanted to do it, he did it,and then he did the other show.
You were telling me he did.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Oh yeah, that's right .
Yeah, jenny was saying he wastaking the comic con and then
gone yeah because heaccomplished what he needed to
do.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
He was ready and he had every right to and and and.
Now you can just pay homage tohim.
Every time you listen to a song, you're blessed in it and you
think about him it, it's, itfeels good.
You know you probably a littlemelancholy with it and
everything but but overallyou're like yeah, I grew up I
grew up with ozzy I went to seehim here I went there I mean,
jenny, you've got this history.

(15:26):
that's ridiculous.
You know I'm a KISS fan, butthere are KISS fans who are like
you with.
You know the way they are Likeeveryone has it right.
I know a lot about KISS but Iwas never like that, right To
that point where I was alwaystrying to find the show or go
somewhere or everything.
Not that it was a bad thing, itjust didn't do nothing for me.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
You know I got excited when I did go.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
Yeah, you know, because I'm like oh shit, I'm
going to see Yosemite.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
But yeah, it's just an exciting feeling.
So imagine being able to make alife of it and doing that, you
know that's awesome.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
You guys are great doing that stuff.
Well, and we do, and you knowwe've been reminiscing about all
of our old shows that we'vedone and that's what John said.
You've got quite a few Aussieshows under your belt.
I'm like, oh yeah, I guess Inever thought about it, but yeah
.
And to never thought about it,but yeah and.
And to answer your question, kenny, yeah, we did.

(16:19):
We all knew that was his lastlive performance period.
We all knew that that was madeclear to us.
okay, um, and we were even toldI say we, the public, you know
is that don't expect to to thatyou're gonna get, like this huge
, a whole ozzy set or you'regetting a whole Sabbath set,
right right, right.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
This was it.
This was it.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
But for the record he gave us nine songs.
He gave us like five Ozzy songsand four Sabbath songs and he
was prepared to do like seven oreight or nine Sabbath songs.
And I think time is what caughtup that night.
But every band that playedplayed either a Sabbath or a

(16:58):
Ozzy cover.
Yeah, yeah.
Gnr did three.
Gnr did the most, they didthree, and then you had your
super groups that were together.
Steven Tyler was there.

Speaker 4 (17:11):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
It was, oh my God, it was awesome.
I've never seen GNR live.
I saw them together.
I saw them.
Yeah, it was oh my god, it wasawesome.
I've never seen GNR live.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
I got it oh, I saw them, we saw them together.
I saw them.
Yeah, they were good now you'rethere.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
Yeah, and I was telling Kenny earlier that that
was the first time that Axel met.
He was at this show really wownever crossed paths yeah, that's
.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
that must have been huge for those guys when they
were on stage just going to town.

Speaker 4 (17:37):
Yeah, Meeting each other for the first day after
all this time that must've beenso wild.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
Yeah, you can see videos, you can see like online
of all this stuff yeah.
Yeah, and the head picture andyou know, and and we, I, my
experience of this show was atthe end and I had told Kenny
this earlier.
I, in my mind, I literallythought this I could pass away

(18:05):
tomorrow and, honestly, feelfulfilled.
You can tell that he wanted tostand, he won the party.
He just wanted to tell us allthat he loved us, which he told
everybody every single show, andhe wanted us to know like he
did it on his own term right.
And you could tell that he didit with the people he loved most
and the people that loved himthe most, and you know they took

(18:28):
care of the artist, they tookcare, they took care of
everybody like they were yourfamily your family even go ahead
.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Go ahead and finish.
I'm sorry, Jenny.

Speaker 3 (18:37):
No, I'm sorry about that, but, like when we did meet
the Osbournes in 2022, Istraight up told Sharon like how
wonderful we think that theyare and, as of I know this is
about Ozzy, but her career iswith them too.
She's been with Ozzy sinceshe's 18 years old, not as a
couple, but her father was hismanager and then she later on

(18:59):
became his manager when he wentoff on his own from Sabbath.
But you know, they were allwonderful and hugging and
kissing and everything else andthat's how they made everybody
feel in their presence.
And if you didn't and youcrossed them, we all knew it.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
Yeah, there's that video floating around where she
threw the coffee or tea orwhatever.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
Oh yeah, and that chick's face.
It was when she had the.
Sharon school, the school ofSharon, I can't think of the
name of it.
And this girl was talking junkabout Ozzy and Sharon.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
But you know what that's, because she's yeah, yeah
yeah, she does Talk about me,but don't talk about him.
I love that.

Speaker 4 (19:47):
That's the way people should be.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
That's it.
I saw some of the video to theconcert with Ozzy performing.
He sounded good.
He sounded good, he soundedgood.
Yeah, he sounded good.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
He sounded great.
He really did, and actuallythere is a documentary coming
out about what he had to do toprepare for this particular show
.
Yeah, so there is that comingout that we know of.
And then, additionally, thereis a movie coming out of the
concert next year 2026, and it'sgoing to be compiled down to

(20:22):
100 minutes.
So what I'm guessing I don'tknow, but what I'm guessing is
that you're probably going toget all of the covers that all
those bands played, and thenyou're probably going to get the
super groups and then Ozzy andSavage.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
That's my guess, because how do you put?

Speaker 3 (20:39):
eight out, yeah, eight hours into, you know, 100
minutes, yeah so, and some ofthose artists are still.
If anybody gets a chance tolook up Youngblood's changes
performance, it's he.
It's unbelievable and he putthat out as a single, I think
that same week and all proceedsgo to the same charity.

(21:03):
So it's still collecting moneyand it hit number number one on
the chart wow, that's sofreaking great man.
Yeah, I love lamb of god did thesame thing.
Yeah, they.
They're one of their songs, thecover that they did, and all of
the musicians, I think, gotsneakers.
They were Ozzy Osbourne.
Adidas custom sneakers.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
Come on.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
And, yeah, randy Blythe, who has a wonderful
story of his own, that's foranother day.
He is the lead singer of Lambof God and he went to see Ozzy
as a fan to Comic-Con thefollowing week and had him sign
him so he could now auction themoff for the charities as well.
So that's the other takeawayfrom this.

(21:49):
From that last show inBirmingham, every artist that
was there again was not justsaying I mean, they were fans,
they were fans themselves, because when we were going to
all these attractions aroundbirmingham they were there with
us.
We were waiting on line to goon the bridge and there was
randy blythe, the singer forlamb of god and the drummer for

(22:10):
massive, on there chilling withus, talking to us while we're
waiting, and taking pictures.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
Wow, yeah, awesome yeah that's freaking amazing.

Speaker 4 (22:19):
Yeah, that must have been you really see.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
Yeah, experience sounds amazing.
Yeah, like that was likeliterally bro, that's a once in
a lifetime thing, like no, Imean he passed.
I'm just saying, like, justeverybody being there and and
out hanging out with the fans, you know, and they just want the
fans and that's how you know.
Like you just said, Jenny, thatthat's a family, you know what
I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
Like that, those the metal people, like that's they
are, they're all fans and, likeshe said, fans.
So these guys were jamming tothese songs, you know.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
Oh yeah, I want to play this.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
Hell yeah, absolutely , hell yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
You playlist?
Absolutely Hell, yeah, do myversion of it.
Oh my god, slayer did thisamazing sandwich.
They either started with aSabbath song, then they went
into a Slayer song, then theybrought it back to that Sabbath
song.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
Oh my god, oh yeah, there's a word for that.
Right, there's a word for that.
I forget what it's called.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
It sounds pretty cool , though, that they there's a
word for that I forget what it'scalled the remix.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
It sounds pretty cool though that they do it.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
Yeah, yeah, trippy is what it's called.
Yeah, I bet I bet it is.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
And Metallica played Johnny Blade.
Which when do you ever hearJohnny Blade Like you hear?
Metallica do that yeah yeah,it's a very rare one.
And you know what?
Speaking of family, my18-year-old niece got to go to
this show.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
Wow, See, that's awesome.
She'll never forget that it wascool.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
No, she won't.
It's like saying you're atWoodstock, you know.
And this kid got up at 5 amwhen these tickets went on sale
and got our own tickets becausethe maximum tickets you could
buy were two per household.
So, if I bought tickets andthen John bought tickets and
they had the same mailingaddress or a credit card or

(24:06):
anything, they could cancel yourtickets at any time.
You didn't want to take thatrisk, yeah.
So this kid got up.
Yeah, this kid got up at 5 am.
She got her tickets before Idid and then yeah, so in turn my
brother-in-law was able to go.
If I didn't get my ticket, Iwould take him that second one.
I'm going to tell you right now.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Yeah, beat him up real quick, right, yeah, yeah,
that is awesome.
Look at it.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
You can't get any better than that man, that man,
his first concert, you know, Ilooked up what that term was.

Speaker 4 (24:41):
I had to look it up because my my brain wouldn't let
me uh.
It's just called the melody,because I know I know, I know
bands done that before likedon't mix the music didn't
metallica do that with uh kingdiamond, not king diamond the
band king diamond was from.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
I can't think of the name.
Well, he's on his own now but, yeah, I can't think of it.
Merciful Fate.
Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 4 (24:59):
So they did like a melody with like three songs.

Speaker 1 (25:01):
I love the songs.

Speaker 4 (25:02):
It was like nine minutes I remember it was on,
like I think, GarageIncorporated or something.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
That is awesome, man.
I'm so happy for you, though, that you were able to actually,
because, I mean, you weretalking about this for a while.
You were right, oh my gosh thatwas awesome.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
Yeah, yeah, yeah it was.
The buildup was good.
My poor husband has highanxiety.
The poor guy was so anxiousbefore we got on that plane.
But I was glad that once we gotthere, you know you could
embrace it all and again, bewith your you know Aussie family
and Black Sabbath, aussiefamily.
You know we got to go.
The crown is the bar where itall began, where they played.

(25:41):
You know we got to check thatout.
I mean a pub, but you couldn'tgo inside, but you were outside.
You know these, all these things.
John wanted to go to Aussiechildhood home.
He goes.
I regret we didn't go there.
I'm like, how do we know hegoes?
It's public information.
However, with that in mind, Idid notice there was something

(26:03):
online and there is a noteoutside that childhood home and
there is a email address wherepeople can leave messages and
stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
That's pretty cool, that's awesome.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Yeah, he, I mean obviously, you know, not
listening to everything thatJenny's saying.
You know he and Sharon, theyreally were about their fans.
You know what I mean.
They really did have that kindof love for, because that's who
put them there bro.
Well, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
But you know some people are like, yeah, whatever,
don't come to my lawn sayingit's just that it's someone who
appreciates.
They know why they're there forthe reason your fans are what
make you.
Yeah, you know exactly, youhave that following like that
yeah, yeah, no, it's, yeah, youcan't get that.

Speaker 2 (26:45):
All the way on that and then and not give them right
I'm saying yeah, yeah, like hewas a good guy about that yeah I
mean because, like you and Italk, you know, would switch up
the little funnies that, like, for me I want to be famous, like
that.
You know I would love to befamous and you know, because I'm
that kind like I think I canhandle it.
But there are some people thatjust can't handle that fame,
that attention, you know what Imean and they just can't

(27:07):
function.
And he used it to like to justmake people happy yeah, you know
what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (27:14):
Yeah, like, like she was saying it, it kind of he
built community yeah.
Yeah, that is awesome.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
And I'm bugging out still that that was huge.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
And how many bands.
Most of the time, it's outsideright, Jen.
What do you mean?

Speaker 3 (27:29):
It was, it was always outside.

Speaker 4 (27:35):
Isn't that?

Speaker 3 (27:35):
what kind of blew up?

Speaker 4 (27:36):
Pantera, isn't that where they, like Ozzfest, kind
of blew them up, or was it?
Or they were already kind ofbig.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
I'm not sure about that I don't want to misspeak
and somebody come at me Fairenough.

Speaker 4 (27:50):
Maybe We'll say maybe .

Speaker 3 (27:52):
I believe you are correct in that Pantera
definitely like Pantera.
Definitely Pantera probably gotbig, they'd get bigger.
Well, actually here's a funnystory.
The first time that John evergot on a plane was to go see
Pantera at an office in Texas.
That's the first time he evergot on it and the only reason he

(28:13):
went there was to go to thatoffice.

Speaker 1 (28:14):
Really, he just flew there to do that.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
Yeah.
That's amazing, and that wasbefore GPS, you know.
Remember Google Maps?
Right, right, right, exactly sohe and his yeah, he and his
friends got screwed up becausethey only printed directions in
one way.
And then they didn't bring himto go back.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
But, anyway.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
But yeah, I think Pantera at a point opened for
ozzy and and or I don't know ifit was sabbath or ozzy or
probably both, but yeah and then.
Then that really led the wayfor them.
And you know, metallica, theywere with metallica too yeah, I,
I guess I'm.

Speaker 4 (28:48):
What I'm just saying is like it's kind of like the
same same thing, like, like, as,like you know, the fact that,
like all those bands kind ofthat got to go to oz fest were
like would get amplified.
I mean, like you said, that waslike the whole point right,
like so they like all kind ofblew up from that, which is so
awesome yeah, it's got to be arush as well, though think about
it.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
You're at the oz fest .
Yeah, you know you're jamming, yeah, how you know and did you
put?

Speaker 2 (29:12):
the rush alone must be yeah please, if you.

Speaker 3 (29:16):
It's a long day.
It's a lot and it's doable.
We've done them back to backtoo, like two days in a row,
like you go from Connecticut andthen all of a sudden you're
down to like Philly, like back, you know.
When they're two days in a row,it's a little.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
It's a little much, it can be tough.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
But, yeah, you got to know when to recover and it's a
little different now that we'rein our 40s too.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
But you know it's getting older now.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
Yeah, yeah, we can still do three concerts in a
week, but usually they're notback to back.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
Just spread them apart a little bit you know,
yeah, spread them out.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
We'll stay at the Airbnb.
You would catch up.
Yeah, you know, we always gottomorrow.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
Yeah, no, no, yeah, actually here's.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
No, you first.
Sorry, sorry, no, no, you first.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
There's a thought that just came to me too is that
I just found out because I sawKenny a couple hours ago and
since then we were supposed togo see Pantera in Jersey next
Thursday.
However, they just canceledtheir next like three or four
shows, shows to mourn for what'sgoing on and they played a
couple shows a couple nights ago, but yeah, and they added

(30:24):
Planet Caravan back into theirset and with that song they have
pictures of Dime and Vinny.
So, for people who don't know, they're brothers from Pantera
and they both passed away and sothey pay homage to them.
And now they put Ozzy in it.
And, yeah, that was Wednesdaynight I think Tuesday or
Wednesday night right after ithappened so they just canceled
their show, so our show just gotbombed.
So, who knows, this memorial orcelebration of life that

(30:47):
they're doing for Ozzy might besooner than we think you know,
yeah, yeah.
That's what popped in my head.
Yeah, yeah, no it's, it's.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
That's crazy.
That's what popped in my head, yeah, yeah.
No, it's interesting.
Stuff branches off of it, youknow.
One thing happens and then allthis other stuff starts going in
different directions, becausehe was like, he was the face.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
You know what I'm saying.
He was like his music whenpeople didn't even know like who
exact Ozzy was right, but theyknew his music, Like they could
hear, like oh, I love that songand people would sing it, but
not even know who Ozzy Osbournewas.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
You know what's even nicer too, when you see today I
saw a video Ozzy on stagesomewhere and there was a young
kid with a flying V it was likea blue guitar and he was doing
the solo to Crazy Train what.
And then Ozzy picks him up andholds him while the kid is doing
the solo.
It was it's a rush.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
You get the chills just thinking about it, you know
, because this kid is jammingand he's doing it perfect.
Yeah, I know, that's awesome,that's a crazy solo.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
I mentioned Youngblood and I forget what's
wrong, but he is an upcomingartist.
And Ozzy and Cher Ozzy there'sa video out there from the show
that Ozzy's telling him you letus know if you need anything.
And he looked at Ozzy and hesaid the music is enough.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
He said the music is enough.

Speaker 3 (32:02):
Thank you for the music.
The music is enough.
And see, when Ozzy saw him lasthe gave him like a nice cross,
a personal cross from Ozzy tohim.
So when he saw Ozzy at the showhe gave him a custom cross to
Ozzy.
And here, this is crazy.
This guy performed in England, did this song Changes, then got

(32:25):
on a plane to go to Belgiumimmediately to headline his own
show.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
Wow See, that's love right there, man yeah that's
love.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
I'm really mad, I couldn't you got to sleep on the
flight, yo listen hell yeah.

Speaker 3 (32:40):
Yeah.
Yeah, the things he'll do, man.
That's why it's like you knowwhat so much respect, and that's
nothing but love.
You see, nothing but love forOzzy.
But you know reality shows.
Look at that.
First reality show was theOsborne, so for anybody who
doesn't even know Black Sabbathor Ozzy from their musical

(33:02):
industry.
Oh yeah, we do, I will.
But, to then see them from thatreality show and then sharing
out there.
You know we've grown to lovethe family and that's it.
They all do everything togetherwas that the first?

Speaker 4 (33:19):
like celebrity, like family, like reality?

Speaker 3 (33:22):
I think so I think he's right it was the first.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
Yeah, because after that reality show, yeah that's,
that's, I'm not gonna questionher because no, no, no, no, no
yeah no, no, no, no, I'm justtalking, wow, you know what I
mean.

Speaker 4 (33:32):
And then, all the other ones, yeah, started coming
out after that.
You know all these differentthey did yeah.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
And I can only say that with certainty because it's
come up you know, and again, when you know, whether I want it
or not, I hear and see.
It's like meaning, you know, because it's so passionate and I
don't want to sound like a downplayer, but like interviews and
documentaries, and there's aone out there called Patient

(34:01):
Number Nine.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
And.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
Jack Osborne is actually the one to produce it,
anybody who can see it.
go and see it.
We saw a special screening.
I mean it's already been outfor a while, but when we were in
Birmingham there was a specialscreening of it and then Jack
did Q&As after.
We didn't get to go a, but wewere there and you saw some
extra stuff and it really shows, you get you into that world of

(34:23):
ozzy and that family and youknow there was nothing daffodils
and daisies all the time youknow he does a lot of
poltergeist, a lot of ghosthunting and, oh yeah, he was
doing that a lot of big footstuff.

Speaker 1 (34:36):
He does a lot of crazy stuff.

Speaker 2 (34:38):
His son his son is amazing.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
I love him.
He's great.

Speaker 3 (34:40):
He, you know he goes and checks these things out, you
know well, yeah, when I met him, I'm sorry, go ahead you first.
Yeah, go ahead, I'm just gonnasay when, back in 2022, when we
met the osborne that's one ofthe first things that I told
jack I was like we live near theufo capital of new of new york
or the east of.
The first things that I toldJack I was like we live near the
UFO capital of New York or theEast Coast and he was like

(35:01):
really, where is that?

Speaker 1 (35:04):
Yes, that's Monroe, New York.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
No, no, is it Monroe?
Pine Bush, Pine Bush.
Pine Bush yeah, that is funny.
I took a picture withstormtroopers there.
Oh yeah, that's right, becausethey have the what do you call
it?
The parade.

Speaker 1 (35:18):
That's right.
That is fucking hilarious Alienparade.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
But my question to you, though, jenny is so you
know, I grew up and saw Band-Aidwhen Queen performed Right, it
was Freddie Mercury's lastperformance, and you know he's
there and he was singing andeverybody in the crowd sang with
him, like they showed it at theend of the movie.
And you know I was in front ofmy TV.

Speaker 4 (35:41):
Yeah, Like I swiped his hand.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
I know what you're talking about, so now was that I
know the children.
I don't think it was his last, though it was his last big
concert.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
Yeah, yeah, Live Aid.
No, I don't think so.

Speaker 2 (35:54):
I think it was his last big one.
No, I could have sworn, thatwas his last big one.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
I think you're right.
I think it was the last bigproduction that like people, but
I think they still did more.
They still did more.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
Because he was sick and he knew that.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
Yeah, so he did it for as long as he could.

Speaker 3 (36:08):
And he did it actually pretty much close to
the end.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
All right, I take.

Speaker 3 (36:12):
I believe that nobody really knew.
It's after that performancethat everybody then found out.
Okay, so yeah he didn't tellhim.
But yeah, so now was that thesame?

Speaker 2 (36:23):
like the way he had the whole crowd just singing
with him and want to be?
Was that like kind of like what, what, what?
The concert you went to waslike you know what I'm saying,
the whole concert.

Speaker 3 (36:34):
The whole concert was like that, and especially you
know, ozzy ended his set withMama.
I'm Coming Home.
Everybody was saying to that, like I said, young women's
deployment of changes.
I mean, like, and Ozzy played alot from that first album with
Randy Rhoades.
Most of the songs, I think Allbut Mama, all but Mama I'm

(36:56):
Coming Home was from that album.
And then, yeah, so you there, you definitely felt it.
You felt the love.
You know everybody was singingto it.
Hey, we walked into the museumto see the art exhibit and they
had a video screen there andmama I'm coming home was coming
on and on and John said, uh,come on everybody, and mama I'm

(37:17):
coming.
So there in the museum you haveeverybody singing the song yeah
.
Yeah, yeah.
So, you definitely yeah.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
I love that feeling when you go to a concert and, of
course, so many magnitudes thatshe went to.
But most of the time when yougo in the band, lets you sing,
but most of the time when you goin the band, lets you sing yes,
yeah, when you should like, they want you to do it, and you
hear the audience.
It's.
There's like a you get thisrush.

Speaker 4 (37:42):
I did that in our concert.
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (37:45):
Yeah, metallica, metallica will do that too.
Yeah, billy Joel does it a lot.
That is awesome yeah.

Speaker 2 (37:51):
Yeah, you feel kind of groovy because you're singing
the song Like you know thewords, you know now that like
you almost feel like thatconnection with the artist.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
And the people around you, because you're all jamming
together.
Yeah, that's sort of thelighters you know coming back
the lighters, not just standingthere singing, yeah, singing
everybody rocking together.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
That's right yeah.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
That's awesome, and even if you don't know the words
, you still enjoy it and you'resinging and just loving it.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
You know, the energy.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
The energy it's like a natural.
It really is a natural high.
You know we're all putting outthis positive energy and feeling
the love, like you're all therefor the same reason.
How could you not enjoy that?
You know what I mean it's like, from the moment I was standing
in line.
I'll preface this by like allwe were fortunate to have
friends there as well.

(38:39):
Like it was the four of uschildhood friend of John's and
then two other people.
We all have separate entrancesbecause we all have different
tickets.
I had an entrance by my.
I was by myself, by myself, soI met a brother and sister
online and that was just it,like instantly we were friends,
they shared a drink with meonline.
We walked in and we hung outtogether until I met up with my

(39:00):
group.

Speaker 4 (39:01):
Yeah, we had another.

Speaker 3 (39:01):
Let's get a pint.
Okay, let's get another one.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
You know, nice sound like we gotta go anywhere, yeah,
yeah right, no place, we'rehere.

Speaker 2 (39:09):
we're here during january, exactly yes, is the
venue was different.

Speaker 3 (39:19):
The venue I'm not going to speak ill of the venue,
but that is one thing, thatthere is a difference.
Of that we noticeably see fromthe US.

Speaker 1 (39:25):
I heard that ice is a big issue out there.
What Ice?
They don't give you a lot ofice, you have to ask for it.

Speaker 3 (39:32):
Oh, yes, no, it's terrible.
Yeah, no-transcript.

(40:00):
You know, and they did havesniffer dogs there.
I saw somebody get pulled outof line.
Yeah, I'm standing in line andall of a sudden these sniffer
dogs are like uh, you want tostep out of line?
You said it to someone and yeah.

Speaker 4 (40:11):
I was like sniffer dogs.

Speaker 3 (40:13):
I'm like damn you know that's insane.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
They did not play sweetly.
Oh, no way.
Yeah, I don't think so.

Speaker 1 (40:25):
No way I would have been like I figured everybody
was sniffering.
Well, you know you got to.
Especially with something thatbig, you get people.
Unfortunately, in today's worldyou have to be safe.

Speaker 2 (40:33):
You know you got to have some kind of security.
But wait, you got to have somekind of security.
But what are you talking about?
They were sniffing for weed.
No, I think they were sniffingfor drugs.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
I'm sure they were sniffing for anything, but I
think they were mostly sniffingfor drugs, most likely.

Speaker 2 (40:47):
That's what I'm saying I'm surprised, like you
know, I mean not saying thateverybody.
I think there's a few peoplethat, yeah, I mean yeah, the bad
guys.

Speaker 3 (40:56):
It is so different from here.
It is so different.

Speaker 4 (40:59):
Right, I love that.

Speaker 3 (41:00):
It's so different than the area.

Speaker 4 (41:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (41:04):
That's hilarious or a little bit more.
It was awesome.

Speaker 4 (41:08):
There's something about, though, seeing like a
band or an artist that like islike legendary.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
Right.
It's like a differentatmosphere than going to see
like a newer band.

Speaker 4 (41:20):
I mean.
You know what I mean becauseyou hear them on the radio your
entire life and then all of asudden like holy, I'm here, well
, I'm seeing them play.

Speaker 1 (41:29):
I could test that, yeah you know, when I was a kid,
I was 11 years old yeah, Iwanted to see you kiss with more
than anything, yeah, and theonly person that would take with
me is my uncle, right.
So I had to see you kiss morethan anything, yeah, and the
only person that would take withme is my uncle, right.
So I had to go, but I I totallyforgot he was there.
I was jamming, yeah, I was.
I had my guitar, my drums, yeah, everything.
I was just jamming to thatconcert.
And then, when they came backand did the reunion, I went with

(41:51):
my best friend.
That was pretty cool becausethat was awesome, because they
both got back together.
You, you know.
So you get that, you know thatexcitement.
You know, it's cool to gothrough that.

Speaker 2 (42:02):
Yeah, I love it.
That is freaking bump.

Speaker 1 (42:04):
Be able to tell the story you know, yeah that is
great man.
Real quick, I get a real quickstory.
I actually cut out of school.
I won't say how we got thereinto the city.
The kiss was, it was when theydidn't have.
They took the makeup off andthey had.
Uh, what was the album it was?
I can't believe, I can'tremember this but anyway we cut

(42:26):
out of school to go see them.
It was at sam goody's groceryfrom radio city, yeah, and I got
caught between the glassbecause my friend I, this not
this line's not even moving, because everybody tried to go in
on once so nobody can get in.
So I got caught between theglass and the people and they
were pushing you can feel theglass not in the break and they
pulled me in.
So I got an autograph PaulStanley, Vinny Vizowitz, and you

(42:46):
know it was just but thathappened.

Speaker 2 (42:49):
That was pretty cool.
That's awesome.

Speaker 1 (42:50):
That is sweet, but that being said, Well, jen,
again I appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (42:55):
Thank you for doing this with us man.

Speaker 4 (42:58):
I mean, that is such an awesome story.

Speaker 2 (43:00):
It was great.

Speaker 3 (43:04):
Yeah, thanks for having me, guys, and you know
what I know.
This is a side note, but wehave a lot of stuff in my house.
It's like Ozzy all over it, butthese limited signs and posters
I we are, we're so grateful tohave been there.
It's not about all that stuff, but it's memories and you really
feel like the love in thesethings and it reminds you of

(43:26):
this and, like you said, tom, like to see these legendary
people.
It's and even with him passing,it's like you know, know, like
Jerry Garcia or um, yeah, youknow what I mean.
Like this is.

Speaker 1 (43:41):
He's up there.
Yeah, he's with the top ones, absolutely yeah.

Speaker 3 (43:46):
Yeah, exactly.
So, uh, yeah, Well, thank you,no problem, thanks guys, all
right.
Well, thank you, don't hang up.

Speaker 2 (43:53):
yet though Jenny Give me one sec.

Speaker 3 (43:54):
I won't, I won't.

Speaker 2 (43:55):
And to everybody else .
Thank you guys for listening.
Love, peace and hair grease.
Live long and prosper and stayweird yeah.
