(00:00):
Welcome back to Couple Goals. We're back.
God, it feels good. It does feel good and it feels
right because we've got a new space.
If you're watching this, you'll see that we are in what looks
like a nearly finished little studio.
So because. It is nearly finished.
(00:20):
It's nearly finished. We're nearly there.
We've, we've got a couple of chairs, we've got a nice coffee
table with not much on it, just a little lamp and a a candle.
What we need to jazz that up a bit.
And we're on blank walls. So soon we'll get some artwork.
There, that smells really good. Yeah, we have a lovely candle
which we stole from my mom. It's made by Theodore Homeowners
(00:43):
and. There's going to be.
Photographs all behind us. So I bought, I bought 6 today.
That's four that I'm holding up,but I meant 6.
So I've got a set of three and aset of three because what I did,
and this is gonna blow your mind.
Mm Hmm. Emma sent me through on Timu.
(01:06):
Timu. I just.
Got Timu? Yeah.
I discovered Timu in America andit's just like Oh my God, super
cheap. We bought so much Timu.
Yeah, we bought, well, I just bought more, but here's what's
crazy. The ones that Emma sent me
through were a couple of surf photos because it was like that
could work. And I went to add to cart and
then I went to buy it and it said, unfortunately this order
(01:26):
is too low. You need to spend a minimum of
$15. And I was like 15.
Yeah, I thought it. Was 50 bucks.
So then I just like clicked showmore and then it showed me a
country version so it's like a farm.
So 2 contrasting sets of photos. So, but they're in three, so one
image is, yeah. So they're like divided by three
canvases. Yeah, correct.
(01:48):
OK, hopefully so. No, no, sorry.
Not even one image. It's just like a a story.
There's three different so Well,yeah, if you're if you're
watching this, you'll see we've got some.
Holes in the wall. Hole.
Not holes in the wall. What they what it's called?
I did give it they're plugs. Yeah, like little screws in the
wall that we want to hide. So hopefully it hides that
nicely and gives a bit of colour, a bit of interest to the
(02:09):
walls here. But the good news is we've got a
space to record, we're not goingto be disturbed and things
aren't going to be moved around so it.
Just feels so good walking in here and just seeing it set up.
Yeah, it's nice because we haven't had our own.
Normally we're like racing around, like plugging in things
or. Moving musical equipment and
(02:31):
yeah, it just makes it. Easier.
Yeah. And it makes it more we we have
more motivation to record because we're not having to
like, set up. And like.
Frictions that you want to do? Yeah, not cool.
So anyway, we've got a lovely space here in Lucky's temporary
office. Yeah.
Well, it's not temporary. We might keep it, depending.
On rented office, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
(02:54):
So. What's been going on?
It's been a while. I'm not sure even when our last
podcast was, we have been still touring still.
I think we've done one since therun.
I think so, yes. Yep.
Maybe, I don't know, we should have checked should.
Have checked, but yeah, we've we've.
What have you been up to since the run?
(03:17):
Well, we went to Europe for a month, which was cool.
That was harder than the run. I think just the late nights.
The we travelled all around Europe, like we went from like
London all the way over to the other side of Poland and back
like multiple times. It wasn't just like a round trip
We were going. We ended up back in Germany and
(03:37):
the Netherlands like two or three times.
So which was crazy. Yeah, so a lot of people think
they are supports touring. Like it looks like you guys have
so much fun, you're always on holiday.
And I've got to laugh at that because it's not a holiday, let
me tell you. We love what we do, but it's not
a holiday. Is it lucky?
You're not See, we had one day off, which was in Prague, which
(03:58):
was awesome. And Dee, didn't we see those the
clock tower? Yeah, so Prague, you've, we've
got one day off, we should be resting, but you're in Prague
for one day and like you want tomake the most of your time, your
sightseeing as well. So we did not rest, of course,
and we spent all day on our feetwalking around having a.
Look at 3 ice creams. I'll never forget it.
Oh my. God, you did too.
(04:19):
It was probably. Yeah, incredible.
That was such a great city to explore.
If you're going to go to Europe,I'd recommend Prague.
There's so much to do and you can do it quickly as well.
Like, I don't think we'd need tospend another day there, really.
No, we we got to it. Yeah, we sure did.
And that was amazing fun. But then the rest of the time it
(04:39):
was just we'd, we'd get on the road early in the morning, you
drive to the city that you're playing in, you unload, you do
sound check, you get ready, you do VIP experience, which is lots
of fun. And then you have dinner and
(05:01):
then it's Showtime. And then you pack down, get in
the van and you're driving at least two hours halfway to the
next city. And then you rinse and repeat.
And that gets exhausting. I think I just got shivers
thinking about like how much? Early starts, you just can't
even explain it to people how grueling it is.
(05:23):
The coffee's not good normally, like if you have a poor sleep,
like even yesterday. I was hungover yesterday and.
It's very unusual. For you, it's super unusual.
I don't know how it happened, but it got to 1:00 PM.
We're laying on the couch and I was like, I haven't had a coffee
yet because I saw it on the movie we were watching.
And that just triggered me to go.
I need to go get a coffee. And it's good coffee.
(05:44):
You know that it's just going tobe like the moment that it hips,
your lip hits your lips just warms the body and you're like.
And all is right in the world. It was great, but when you get
the coffee in Europe after like 3 hours sleep, it's like
drinking from a dirty ashtray. You're just like just trying to
get the caffeine. But I'm how do you think I felt?
I'm off caffeine completely. Why are you off caffeine?
(06:06):
Alcohol. So I did that.
I really raw dogged that too. So yeah, yeah, no, I'm off
caffeine because of the fertility stuff.
I know it's they say that you can have one coffee, but I found
myself not being able just to have one coffee and so I've
never had a break from coffee. And that's what people say when
they have beers like I can't well.
(06:27):
It's a drug, you know, and it's fine to have one coffee, but I'm
obviously just trying all to do all I can.
And coffee was one thing that I could do to lower my cortisol
levels and it doesn't seem to have worked yet.
But at least it's something thatI can know that I'm doing that's
(06:48):
good for me and. Do you miss it?
Yes, I do. And I don't like I, I have decaf
coffee and that kind of hits thespot Yeah, when I when I have a
coffee, but I some days I wake up and I'm so tired I'm like,
wow, today I could really use a coffee.
And so on days like that, I do miss it.
Like. Would today be one of those
days? Yes, because you woke me up not
(07:12):
once at 4:00 AM, not twice at 6:00 AM, but three times at 8:00
AM. 7:00 AM. 7. AM Amy sleeps with the ear plugs
in and still gets woken up. It baffles me.
Like I tiptoe like no tomorrow and I open the door like I'll
spend nearly 10 minutes like someone trying to open a vault
(07:32):
to a bank with a drill. Like real quietly, I'm putting
the door, pushing the door handle down by pulling it
against the. I can't.
Remember the name? Yeah, just so it doesn't pop and
then it opens and then you're like, OK, slide, slide.
And then it gets maybe half of 2feet around and then you hear
(07:54):
your. And then Amy doesn't like what a
normal person would do if they get woken up and they're feeling
tired. They would just know that, yeah,
I've been working. But Amy wants it to be known.
She says she'll pull her eye mask up, roll over and go.
(08:17):
And I'm like, I know I didn't mean to, and I know, go back to
sleep. And then because she's made the
extra effort to pull the eye mask off and roll over, it's
like now she's awake. Yeah, because the sun's up.
And you should be up. I'm still want you to use your
woop band to do the. Use it.
(08:37):
Yeah, but how come your noisy alarm goes off as well?
Because I slept through my work the other day.
Remember. Anyway, I guess this is
preparing me for having a baby. Exactly.
Waking up at all hours. So what's the latest?
Where are you up to? The latest on fertility?
Yeah, or where, where are we up to?
I'd like it a little up to. So I know for everyone
(08:59):
listening, I'm, I'm not just like I'm asking for you guys for
the. So we're on round two of IVF and
if you follow us on Instagram you'd be up to date.
We so did another egg retrieval, which I got nine eggs, we got 9.
Eggs. Well, they're my eggs.
(09:19):
I had to go on to surgery so. I had to go on.
Cup I donated 9 eggs to the cause and I.
Donated like a million sperm. Located a million sperm and we
got 3 embryos so. Blastocytes.
Aren't they called? Blastocysts.
(09:39):
Blastocysts. So that's a five day embryo or
when the, when it starts to growfrom, like when the the sperm
and the egg fuse and then it starts to develop and they
continue grow, they grow into a blastocyst, which is the stage
they freeze them. So yeah, we've got 3 on on ice,
(10:00):
which is great. It's great news.
I mean, you always hope for moreno matter how many you have, I'm
sure. It's better than one.
We got one the first time and not saying one's still awesome,
but obviously if you get more than you got last time, that's a
win. Yeah, because it's obviously
more chance and less likely thatyou go and have to do another
egg retrieval, which is, in my opinion, the hard part.
(10:22):
Yeah, it's pretty brutal. So and it's such a long process
between like there's so much waiting in IBF, it's just
insane. Drives me crazy.
Teaching you patience. Sure is.
But it is one of those things where you just feel, I feel like
this round we're not a stress. I feel like the first round we
(10:43):
were waiting for even though I wasn't here.
Well, it didn't, it didn't go toplan.
So if you listen to previous episodes, I ovulated before the
procedure. So that's not good, which is why
because I had like 17 eggs that we should have got, ended up
with five, which turned into oneblastocyst.
(11:05):
So obviously that's devastating.Having paid all that money,
going through the hormones, going through the surgery to
wake up and hear that it's didn't go very well.
And then you've just got one precious embryo that you're
banking on and praying goes well.
And then when it doesn't is devastating, but this time also
(11:28):
because I wasn't touring during this time, which is taking a lot
of stress off, but also means that now we've got three.
I don't know, I just feel like it's, it's going to happen this
time in the in those three, there's going to be a baby,
right? And then you'll see Amy's eyes
hanging out of her head when sheactually has one, not getting
(11:52):
any sleep. Well, you'll do the morning
shift, I'll do the night shift. It didn't take much to wake you,
You. Remember, like midnight ticks
over to the morning, so you know.
I'm doing that. We'll figure it out.
Yeah, we will figure it out. And anything else coming up.
We're looking for a house at themoment.
(12:14):
We are. We need to figure out where
we're gonna live. We're taking a pause in the USA
in terms of living there. I don't know.
It's all up in the air. We don't know.
But for now we're we're still touring a lot, so it's hard to
like base ourselves in one spot. We're definitely going back to
the US at some stage for a tour.We had to cancel the most recent
(12:36):
one due to unforeseen budget issues.
Yeah, we don't need to talk. About that, we don't need to go
into that. But anyway, unfortunately it
wasn't going to happen and basically the whole tour would
probably have sent us broke, if not nearly broke.
So yeah, there were a few thingsthat happened behind the scenes
that just were unavoidable. And yeah, anyway, it was a real
(13:03):
shame. And obviously we're really
devastated because we have fans that had bought tickets and
obviously we even had flights tocome over like we're ready to
go. And anyway, the rug got pulled
from us. You.
Were actually meant to be flyingtoday.
Oh. Really.
Yeah, geez. So anyway, sorry to our US fans,
we are devastated that that happened.
(13:25):
We're very sorry. And we're looking at ways to
rectify that and also tour more sustainably because it's just,
it's not just us, it's happeningfor a lot of artists, touring is
getting astronomical. I mean, if you look at hiring a
bus in the USA, if you want to tour in a tour bus with the
driver, it's something like. 200K for 12 weeks?
(13:47):
Yeah, like who has a spare 200K?We don't have a label like it's
all us paying, Yeah. Well who would want to spend
200K for 12 weeks? I'd rather do like fly business
like first class and do a holiday.
Course, but yeah, so we would have been doing all the driving,
which is we were prepared to do.We've done it in the past, but
(14:07):
it's also like exhausting because George and would you
weren't coming at this one. So George would have done
basically all of the drive driving this knackered.
Yeah, and he is prone to gettingsick on tour and yeah, that's
not sustainable either. So anyway, we need to work out
how we're going to make it work and how to get back there
(14:28):
because obviously we've got a huge fan base there and we need
to figure it out ASAP. But also it's skip for the
meantime. We're going to write and release
some songs because I think that's where we're probably due
for for a release. And so which means we're going
to be in Australia for a little bit and yeah, so we are looking
for somewhere to live because right now we're living with my
(14:51):
mum, which has been lovely, but it's time for our own space, I
think. I've been pushing for Toowoomba
for a little bit just for a new experience, you know, Nashville,
Toowoomba. Sam, Sam.
I'm not sold in Toowoomba. Went to the PBR on Saturday
night which was the professional.
Ball, that's why you were hungover.
This was very similar to the onewe saw in Nashville.
(15:13):
They even pray. Like prayed, pray.
I was saying to the lads, I was like, when we were in America
did and we did this, they did the national anthem and then
they said a prayer and I was like, do you reckon they'll do
that here? They're like, Nah, we don't do
that here. Next minute.
Really. Prayer.
Interesting, Was it run by Australians?
No, Americans, it's like that. Well, but they're just like
(15:36):
watch over these crazy men, yadda, yadda, yadda.
I was like, fair play. I wouldn't want to be getting
kicked by a bull. I know, but that's not God's
fault. That's their fault, putting
themselves in that. Wonder how bull riding started?
I mean, probably a lot to do back in the day.
(15:58):
So you ride a horse and. Then you ride a bull and you
realise that it box, yeah. Easy way to gamble?
I don't know, look into it. Straight into gambling.
What story you got for us this week, Sir?
OK, let's, let's see what we got.
I have a story which I think you're going to like and we'll
have a lot to say about. In a good way or a bad way?
Oh. We'll see.
Guys, we want to hear from you as well.
(16:19):
If you get fired up over this one for whatever reason, whether
it's a good way or a bad way because I actually don't know,
comment, all right. And if you hear someone just.
Talking. You might hear it, but here's
what's crazy right When I was moving into this office, I was
here at all different times of the day.
No one was ever here when I did my podcast this morning at 9:00
(16:41):
AM. Jam packed, yeah.
And then now, so now I'm like OK, nine and five are off the
table on Mondays. However, maybe like between
10:00 and 3:00 is a go to time, OK.
Good to know it's all learning curves.
Exactly. OK.
I 37 year old female gave my husband 39 year old male an
(17:05):
ultimatum about his hobby. How do we move forward?
Spouse and I have been married for 15 years and we have 3 kids
under 10. We've both always been into
fitness. My husband is looking for ways
to do more. Last year he trained for and
completed his first triathlon. We were all pretty proud of him
and glad that he had that experience, but the training
(17:27):
really kind of sucked for us. At home, he spent over three
months working out nearly every day.
It was incredibly time consuming.
He'd spent hours a day. For example, some days he'd work
his job and then come home and do a three hour bike ride or
run. He must have been training for
an Ironman, not a triathlon. OK.
There's no way you're trying fora triathlon that much.
(17:48):
There were many days where he'd flat out didn't see our kids at
all and I really felt like a single mum.
About a month after his triathlon, he started talking
about how he wanted to do another one right away.
I immediately asked him what hisplans were for triathlons and he
said he'd like to do them continuously throughout the
year. I told him that if that was the
case, I really didn't think we Icould do that and that it might
(18:09):
be easier if we part ways. Oh, that's a jump to that's.
A very big. That is a big jump.
Anyway, he was incredibly upset and indignant.
He told me I was unsupportive and trying to sabotage him.
He said it was unfair to make that demand and if I was dating
someone I'd never ask them to quit their hobby and and he's
(18:31):
right, I wouldn't, but I still absolutely peace out because
their hobby is incompatible withmy life that I'm looking for.
I didn't really feel like it waseven making in demand, I was
just stating the fact that it was really hard to support the
family alone while he trained that and that I couldn't see
myself doing that forever if he wanted to become a triathlete.
Even though it was unsupportive on paper, I feel like the most
(18:53):
supportive thing I can do in this situation is to step away
and let him do what he wants andchase his dreams.
It's weird and frustrating, I can't get it to stop.
We always do separate. Oh hang on, I sent you the
wrong. It's weird and frustrating, I
can't get it to stop. We always do separate tabs so
it's not as if it's a financial confirm concern.
(19:16):
It never breaks up the pace of OK, I think I've said two
different stories here. Anyway, we got the gist of the
story and what are your feelings, thoughts.
And I want to hear from you first because I feel like you
chose that for a reason. It's kind of relatable to our
situation and what like sort of what you're what you do.
(19:38):
And I mean, I don't have a family like kids.
So I think that would be, that would definitely change the
situation for sure. I'm getting really distracted,
these people talking very loud. I can't really hear them because
you're so loud in my. Ears.
Oh, really? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I think I would just, I mean, jumping to divorce right away is
(20:00):
a bit extreme. I think surely there's ways
around that, like a bit of compromise, asking him what his
actual goals are and whether he thinks it's financially viable
for the family. You know, I do think that he
needs to consider his family andnot just himself in the
situation. I understand.
People you could you could almost yeah, like the compromise
(20:21):
could be 1 Iron Man a year whereit's like a 12 month intense
block, but then you have. 12 month intense block. 12 week, 12
week, yeah, so 1/4 of the year, right.
But then the other ones you justdo Sprint distance, which is,
you know, your normal hour a dayat the gym sort of training.
And so that still allows you to build so you don't have to train
as hard. Yeah, I feel like there's a
(20:41):
compromise here where he can still do what he loves, but it's
not good when you're spending whole days away from your.
Family it also, yeah, it also depends on like our situation's
different because like I can train throughout the day.
Like I trained twice today, I trained at 4:30 AM, so I get up
early. Obviously we don't have kids but
like I trained at 4:30 AM then Iwent to the gym at 2 so it's
(21:04):
like still within the work day and like I'll go home after
this. Yeah, see, that's, I think
that's important for me is like,of course on the off chance you
have to work late and I have to work late sometimes, but I love.
