We’re coming into the holiday season which is often a time of stress and difficulty for survivors of childhood trauma. This year feels particularly challenging for a lot of people.
This time of year often brings up complex feelings for trauma survivors, especially when we're expected to spend time with people who haven't supported our healing journey or have actively dismissed our experiences.
When family members or friends have shown support for narratives or people that deny, minimize, or dismiss trauma, it can feel overwhelming and retraumatizing.
Today we're diving into an important consideration about healing, self-protection, and setting boundaries – especially for survivors of sexual abuse navigating complex family dynamics, friendships, or co-working relationships generally, and especially during this holiday season.
I hope this video helps to remind you of being deserving of support and healing; to understand that your safety and emotional well-being have to be prioritized, navigate difficult interactions and relationships from a more grounded place; and validate your experiences and feelings, especially if those around you do not. 💜
I’d love to hear from you. Did this resonate with you? Do you recognize some boundaries that might be healthy for you to create?
