(00:01):
Hey, everybody, welcome to thecourse building secrets podcast,
I am so thrilled to be heretoday, hey took a little bit of
a break, as we made a couple ofshifts and changes within the
business. And so I am so pleasedto be back today recording this
episode. So you're gonna seesome changes to our messaging to
how we're showing up and whatwe're providing as the year goes
(00:24):
on. And so I'm super excited foryou to learn about some of the
things that are going on.Alright, so I was talking to a
colleague yesterday, and so Iwanted to record this episode
two, just put this bug in yourear, that a lot of times, you
know, when people are trying topackage their expertise or
(00:45):
create an online program, or anonline course or whatever it is
they're trying to do. There's alittle bit of a challenge
between having sort of the ideaof what is it that I can put out
there? And what is it thatpeople want to buy? And so I
want to talk a little bit aboutthat today. Because like I said,
(01:07):
I was talking to a colleague andI, and she said, Well, you know,
when people put out theirinformation products, or their
online courses, it tends to justbe a lot of videos. And so the
the challenge that's going onright now is nobody wants any
more information, right? Nobodyneeds to watch any more videos,
we're inundated with so muchinformation, so much sort of
(01:33):
just extra, right that that'sactually not serving, serving
anyone right now. Right? Sothere's a little bit of a shift
that's happening. And so it'sinteresting. So she was talking
about that. And I said, Well, yeah, of course, like, you know,
a video vault or a membershiplibrary is sort of where videos
(01:54):
go to die, right? Like, a lot oftimes people are, oh, I'm going
to add it to my offer, or it'sgoing to be my offer. And you
know, I'm going to produce 95videos and put them out in a
video vault, so people canconsume them, and I'm going to
make it look like Netflix. Andso it looks like you know, all
these videos are, you know, going to be available to them on
demand. And it's going to beawesome. And the the problem
(02:17):
with that is that nobody wantsto watch any more videos, right?
Like everyone is over it. Ormaybe they weren't even into it
at the at the beginning. And sothere's a, that's not actually
what you're creating, whenyou're creating an online
program, or you're moving yourbusiness online, you're not just
(02:37):
like, producing a bunch ofvideos and throwing them out
there, it's not going to serveyour people is certainly not
going to serve you and it's notgoing to grow your business. So
people are paying you for yourability to get them a
transformation or a result.Right. And so all you have to do
is to create something thatdrives towards that result. And
(03:00):
so instead of 95 videos, maybeyou only need four, or five. And
so it's not about the volume ofstuff that you can put out there
for that random thing thatsomebody may need. But it's like
what is the what is the path, right? Like, what is the fastest
path from the problem thatsomebody has to the result that
(03:20):
you want to give them? What arethe things that they need in
order to travel from point A topoint B? That's all you need.
And so the way that you deliverthat is as succinctly as
possible, right? And so when Isaid, Well, yeah, video vault is
where all the videos go to die.She chuckled. But she's like,
(03:43):
Oh, my gosh, you're right. That's why there is such a
problem in this industry is thatpeople think that they can just
like, you know, go on theiryacht, and record a bunch of
videos and put them into amembership site. And it's going
to be this valuable thing forpeople. And it's not because it
just overwhelms them. Theybounce they don't stay. And they
certainly aren't going andbuying your other offers,
(04:05):
because you haven't solved theproblem. help them solve the
problem that they currentlyhave. They're not going to buy
your next offer because youhaven't gotten them there yet,
right? Like you haven't takenthem on a journey that allows
them to get that result. So mychallenge for you is what do you
have in your online programtoday? Is it a video vault with
(04:28):
lots and lots of random videosthat people can go and watch
just in case they happen to havea need to watch something? Or is
it an orchestrated journey, where you're taking somebody on
the fastest path to results frompoint A to point B? Like what
what does it look like? And thatcomponent of your online program
(04:50):
or your online business shouldliterally be as little sort of
content as as possible. And andso I challenge you to look at
what you have and identify like, what's extra, what's the, if you
put it into two columns, youhave the need to have column,
(05:12):
right? Like it's on the path. And then you could have things
that are on the nice to have, right? Like, here are some
extras, that would be reallynice and enhance your
experience. But they're not onthe actual, like core path,
that's totally fine. Right, youcould have some value added
things that you're giving topeople. For example, for me, one
(05:33):
of the things I know my peopleneed to do is I need to create
interactive PDFs. So people canfill out the PDFs in a workbook
or worksheet or whatever it is.That's, that's a nice to have,
where I'm giving them kind ofthe steps of how to do that,
right? Here's the tool. Andhere's how you do that. It's a
nice to have, it's notnecessarily, you know, on the
(05:56):
core path, could you launch aprogram without it? Yes, right.
So it's not on the core path, but it is something that's nice
for them to have. The way thatI'm, I'm organizing how
everything fits in there is inthat sort of that cadence,
right? Like is it in the in thecore path great than it needs to
(06:17):
be one of the core videos, usually this is about maybe
1210, to 12 videos, Max, is onthe core path. And then you can
have some nice to have here, some enhancements here, some
guest speakers here some sort ofextra things to elevate your
thinking to elevate yourexperience, to add additional
(06:41):
value to help them along thejourney, either make it faster,
make it you know, elevate it,challenge their thinking those
kinds of things. But it's notjust like, I'm just gonna dump
95 videos in and hopefully, you'll go out and watch them,
right because the waste of time, there's no reason because nine
(07:02):
out of 10 times nobody willactually watch any of them. The
other big mistake I see aroundthis whole concept of like their
video vault is where yourcourses go, or your course
videos go to die, is putting allyour marketing content into your
membership area, that whatyou've used to attract your
(07:23):
people is not what's actuallygoing to teach them or help them
get to a result. And, and sodon't just dump all of your
stuff in. Because you've givenit as a signature presentation,
or you've gone live on Facebookor YouTube, you know, produce
(07:44):
some random piece of contentthat you've used to, you know,
try and attract your person inthey've either already seen it,
or it's not the right place intheir journey, right? Like they
they've already moved on. So. Sowhen you're putting things
together, really think about howyou're organizing it and cut out
(08:06):
as much of it as possible. Itwill really serve you as you're
moving forward. So if you'rethinking about doing a video
vault, or a video library, justmake sure before you get started
that you're providing yourpeople the fastest path from
point A to point B, and that youhave that core path, then if you
(08:30):
want to create some extra thingsthat would enhance the
experience. Awesome. But butdon't kid yourself because
nobody it doesn't matter ifthey're five minutes or 10
minutes or four hours in length. No one's gonna watch them if
they don't know what, how itfits within their core path.
Alright, there you go. That isyour course building tip for the
(08:52):
day.
