What does beauty really mean in a world of unattainable standards and sky-high prices for self-care? Join us as we sit down with Lindsay Forkin, Lead Esthetician at Couture MedSpa, who pulls back the curtain on how aesthetic treatments are being revolutionized to become accessible for everyone.

Lindsay shares her deeply personal journey into medical aesthetics, inspired by watching her sister's struggles with persistent acne and the life-changing confidence that came from finding the right treatments. This experience shaped her passion for combining relaxation with transformative results—a philosophy that perfectly aligns with Couture MedSpa's mission of making luxury accessible.

The conversation explores how Couture MedSpa has reimagined the traditional medspa model with membership options starting at just $99 monthly, giving clients access to treatments that typically cost hundreds elsewhere. Beyond affordability, Lindsay highlights their commitment to cutting-edge technology like SkinPen microneedling, Syneron Candela lasers, and their newest addition—a cryotherapy-based cellulite treatment that's perfect for summer preparation.

What truly distinguishes this approach is the emphasis on long-term relationships and continuity of care. "When it comes to changing our skin, it's a marathon not a sprint," Lindsay explains, comparing skincare to fitness—consistency matters more than one-time treatments. First-time visitors receive complimentary consultations including advanced Visia skin analysis technology that provides objective measurements of skin health and tracks improvements over time.

Whether you're curious about trending treatments like EMSculpt and body contouring, or interested in more traditional services like Botox and fillers, this episode offers valuable insights into making informed decisions about your aesthetic journey. With five locations across Central Florida and more opening nationwide, Couture MedSpa is challenging industry norms and proving that everyone deserves access to self-care that makes them look and feel their best.

(01:16):
revolution.
Let's get started today.
Join us as we speak to LindsayForkin, our lead esthetician
here at Couture Med Spa, to giveus an inside look at her unique
approach to beauty and wellness.
Thanks for coming today.
Lindsay, thanks for having me.
So tell us about yourself andwhat led you to the world of

(01:36):
medical aesthetics.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
So I have been a licensed esthetician for just
over eight years now.
I have been with Couture MedSpa for seven of those eight
years.
You know you learn a lot ofdifferent things in a physician
school.
When I first started I wasreally like I don't want to do
the pampering stuff, I don'twant to be in.
You know, I want to get inthere, I want to treat people, I

(01:59):
want to change their skin, youknow, and I learned a lot of
different things and so when Istarted at Keturah MedSpa I was
super excited to get into themedical industry.
It's very rare for a lot ofestheticians, you know, early on
in their career.
So I was very fortunate and Ilearned a ton.
But I also learned that Ireally actually enjoyed the

(02:21):
relaxation part of, you know, giving facials as well.
Um, so being in the med spa,you know, realm of aesthetics, I
get to combine both of those.
I get to make my clients feelrelaxed, um, come in, pamper
them, but I'm also doingtreatments that can truly
transform and change their skin.
Um, you know, I I got intomedical aesthetics from watching

(02:44):
my sister struggle with acnepretty much her entire life and
she went to dermatologistsmultiple dermatologists for
years she was put on medications, she tried all kinds of things
and would clear it for a littlebit and then it would come right
back.
And then she started seeing oneof her friends was actually an

(03:05):
esthetician that worked on a medspa and she started going to
her for consistent facials, consistent treatments, you know,
got her acne to clear and stayclear on a good home care
regimen and then, eventuallystarted, you know, then treating
those acne scarring withmicroneedling and more advanced
treatments.
You know, and I I'd alwaysreally kind of enjoyed the
beauty industry, but reallywatching her and watching how an

(03:29):
esthetician and doing thesetreatments consistently could
change not only someone's skinbut also change their confidence
and how they felt aboutthemselves, really led me to
maybe I could make a career ofthis.
And I've been able to doexactly that with couture med
spa.
Watching our clients come inand whether they've just had,

(03:49):
you know, a rough day and theywant to relax and just forget
about the day and, you know, have someone rub their face for
a little bit and, you know, goon about it, I can do that for
them.
But if someone's also coming inand they're like, hey, this
really bothers, really bothersme, you know that's something
that I can help them with aswell.
I am certified in advancedmodalities, so microneedling,

(04:12):
chemical peels, as far as alsolike body sculpting you know we
do some cryotherapy.
So a lot of that has, you know, evolved since I've been working
for MedSchool and reallyexploring the world of more
advanced medical aesthetics, being in the MedScal.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
It's amazing, it's great you have such a personal,
a personal story to share thatbrought you to this, this
industry, and that's whatmatters.
Like you care and we want to.
You know, we want to have thatexperience of someone that cares
about not only our skin skinbut like how we're going to feel
leaving that place, which Ithink is awesome.

(04:48):
Yeah, yeah, that's great.
Um, so what's the missionbehind couture med spa?
And, of course, you've beenthere for so long, so you're
really a part of that yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
So at couture med spa , um, you know, one of our, our
biggest missions is where luxurymeets affordability.
So we really strive to be ableto bring these you know, medical
aesthetic services to peoplewho feel like they maybe really
either don't belong in the medspa world or they can't afford
it.

(05:17):
They see it as something that isonly for the rich and famous or
you know people who have youknow the luxury of, you know,
being able to just spend 1000s,thousands and thousands of
dollars on whatever treatmentsthey want.
Um, you know we take theseservices that, you see, whether
it's, you know and we'll go intothis a little bit later but
whether it's botox or fillers,or, you know, hydro facials or

(05:38):
whatever it may be, we are ableto bring that to our clients at
a more affordable cost.
And you know we want everyoneto be that to our clients at a
more affordable cost.
And you know we want everyoneto be able to not only look
their best but feel their bestand being able to, you know,
offer these treatments at aprice, you know, that is way
lower than the industry average.
You know.
To give you an idea, we do, oneof our most popular lasers is

(06:01):
an IPL laser which is going tohelp with pigmentation.
We live in Florida.
Almost everyone struggles withpigmentation issues and it's
something that you know.
If you were to go anywhere else, you're going to spend upwards
of three to $500 for one session.
You know, and we have optionsthat you know, even a single
time coming to get it isaffordable, but membership

(06:22):
options that are, you know, ableto offer those as well.
So our biggest goal is to makeeveryone feel welcomed and feel,
you know, their best and youknow, come to us for that
guidance of what they can do,but to not feel like it's
breaking the bank, not feel likethey you know they can't afford
it or they don't fit in in thatworld.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
We want everyone to to be able to come, enjoy our
services and feel the bestthat's amazing, it's so I I can
tell you I've spent beforecouture metzvah, or I didn't
know anything about it.
I would spend a lot of money onipl yeah, it can get pregnant
and uh it is.
It is so nice to have somewhereto go that's accessible to
everyone, where you can, youknow, get these treatments, so I

(07:05):
think that's fantastic.
So about, like now we know, couture med spa.
You know they're much moreaffordable and accessible to
everyone.
What do you think sets umcouture med spa apart from the
other med spas because there'sso many out there, right?
Not just because of the pricepoint yeah, yeah, so there are.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
There are a ton of options for meds, especially
especially here in the centralFlorida area.
They're everywhere.
So you know we, we haveaffordable membership options
that really are, you know, therefor the benefit of long-term
beauty maintenance.
So I always say, when it comesto to skincare and to changing
our skin, it's a marathon not asprint, so it's not something

(07:46):
that you know.
You're going to come in, you'regoing to do one thing and your
skin is going to be changed, just like going to the gym Not
going to go one Not a magicExactly yeah, You're not going
to go one.
Not a magic Exactly yeah, You'renot going to go to the gym.
Have the perfect body and oneto egg wish.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
We all wish.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Yeah.
So you know we have affordablemembership options where we have
membership packages starting atonly $99 a month and kind of
going off what I was talkingabout earlier, just to give you
an idea what the laser is payingyou $99 a month you can get one
laser treatment.
Normally that laser anywhereelse is going to cost you

(08:17):
upwards of three to $500.
But you know, having thatmembership also allows you to
make that commitment to yourselfthat you are in this for the
long haul.
It gives you that reason tostay committed to these
treatments, which I think isvery important.
You know, a lot of our clientscome in and they're like this is
my year of me, yeah, this is,I'm focusing on myself, I'm
working on myself.
They, you know, commit to that.

(08:37):
That membership model whereit's like, hey, I'm going to
come in, I'm going to get theseservices done.
You know they, it allows you tostay committed.
So you know we have different, different options for everyone
depending on what they'relooking for.
You know we have one from youknow our $99, which allows you
to get one laser treatment permonth.
You can pick.
We offer a wide variety oflasers, whether it's, you know,

(08:59):
skin concerns that you'relooking for tattoo removal,
laser hair removal?
You can get all of thesedifferent ones.
We also have another membershipmodel that allows you to get
eight laser treatments per month, which is amazing you can pick
and choose whatever you want, whether're working on face, hair
, tattoo, all of the above.
You know you can kind of pickand choose and really be able to

(09:20):
, you know, plug it into yourlifestyle and what it is that
you're looking for.
You know it also includes, youknow, facials every month.
So we have a very affordablemembership option that allows us
to, you know, go.
You know, get what you'relooking for.

(09:40):
You know we also have cuttingedge technology.
You know, just because you'regetting something affordable
doesn't mean we're taking thecheap route.
It just means, you know that westill want to be able to offer
all of the things that any ofthese other med spas that you're
looking for are going to.
So you know some of the thingsthat we have.
We have other lasers areSinusure lasers.
Sinusure has been around foryears.
They are continuously stayingup on new cutting edge

(10:03):
technology, always kind ofcoming out with, you know,
what's new and upcoming and havelasers that are able to treat
that.
You know we have lasers thatcan treat, you know, skin
texture, skin pigmentation, laser hair removal, touch
removal, leg vein removal.
So we have that.
We offer Skinpin microneedling.
Skinpin was the first FDAapproved device for

(10:25):
microneedling, so it has over 90benchmark studies for both its
safety and its efficacy.
We also offer the wide varietyof Botox and Juvederm products.
Everyone knows Botox, everyoneoffers Botox.
We have all of those.
We offer also Galderma products, which is going to be your

(10:47):
Dysport and your Restylane lineof filler.
Know, we carry all the big namebrands that everyone else has.
Um, we just don't, you know, enhance that other costs onto
our clients.
Um, and then we also have, youknow, skincare that we offer as
well.
Um, we offer skin Medica, whichis also another brand that is
through Allergan, who makesBotox.

(11:09):
Um, we also offer hydranityskincare.
Um, we have some of our ownprivate label skincare as well.
So you know we have all of thesame services that you're
looking for at all of theseother med spas, but again at a
more affordable price for all ofour clients as well.
And as far as our, you know ourstaff that we have as well.

(11:31):
All of our providers are eithernurse practitioners or
physician assistants.
They're highly educated, highlytrained.
They're constantly training, doing new trainings, new
learnings, learning new things.
The medical aesthetics world isalways changing and always
evolving, so continuouslykeeping up with continuing
education, learning newtechniques, up with continuing

(11:56):
education, learning newtechniques, you know, is always
going to be super important.
And our you know, our, ourfounder, is also a national
trainer for Allergan MedicalInstitute as well, so they're
getting the best of the besttraining.
And then again, all of ourestheticians at our med schools
that are doing all the facialservices, the microneedling,
some of our like cryo bodycontouring treatments, are all
licensed estheticians as well.

(12:17):
So you know, we all have these, you know, highly trained
professionals that are using, you know, all the products that
you see out there.
But again, just going back towe, found a way to be able to
make this successful to everyoneand that's really our long-term
goal.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
I mean, it's really good to go to a place that you
can trust the provider or theesthetician or the products that
you're you know getting, andfor a better price.
It sounds like you know CoutureMed Spa, doesn't really?
They're set apart from the rest.
It doesn't sound like any othermed spa that certainly I've
been to, so it's great.

(12:54):
And we're only getting bigger,so I love that.
So you mentioned a lot of thestuff that you know sets couture
metzvah apart.
What do you think besides?
You know we've talked aboutsome of the stuff with Botox and
things like that, which it'svery popular and everyone knows
what Botox is.
What are some of the mostpopular and trending kind of
treatments that are happeningright now?

(13:15):
Like, what do you see going onat Couture specifically that
people are really into?

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Yeah, so one of our newest things that we just
launched is going to be ourcellulite treatment.
So it is something that you knowsummer's coming up, everyone's
going to wear, you know theirshorts you know, but we just
launched our cellulite treatmentand I do think um body
contouring in general isextremely popular.
Um, you know, everyone isalways trying to again go back

(13:42):
to looking and feeling theirbest.
So our cellulite treatment, umis one of our newest editions.
It helps with, you know, treating the appearance of
cellulite, firming andtightening the skin, toning the
skin.
Um.
It uses cryotherapy so it alsocan help with the reduction of
fat and some areas we get thosevery, you know, stubborn areas
that are harder to get rid of.
Um it can target those as well.

(14:02):
Um that also goes along with.
We also offer um m sculpt aswell.
Um, we have had m foot for alittle while at couture med spa,
but I see it constantly beingadded to new med spa.
So it's still something that, even though it has been around
for a little bit, it is stilljust continuing to gain
popularity as well.
For anyone who doesn't know, mscope helps to contract muscles

(14:24):
.
So it's basically like going tothe gym but you just lay there
and the machine does the workand it's amazing, but it's going
to contract the muscles, it'sgoing to help to firm and
tighten everything.
So I would definitely say bodycontouring has definitely been
something that is continuing togrow and you're seeing more and
more of in the med schoolindustry.

(14:46):
Weight loss is another one ofthose so very popular, and that
kind of ties in with the bodycontouring as well.
People are losing weight.
They're wanting to kind of toneand tighten, kind of, you know,
reduce the appearance of thatcellulite, make that skin look a
little bit better.
So weight loss has been verypopular as well, which is
something else that we do offerat Bator Med Spa as well.
Microneedling Microneedling issomething else that we do offer

(15:07):
at the trauma as well.
Microneedling, microneedling issomething that, again, has been
around for a while but justcontinues to evolve and just
becomes more and more popular.
And then you know, botox, likeI said, is going to be an always
it's one of those.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Always a winner, always a winner.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Really gets people in the door but then allows them
to see everything else that wedo offer there as well.
Um, so, you know, it's alwaysthe.
The men's industry is alwaysalways changing, always evolving
, and that is something that Ithink, um, we really strive to
do at couture men's spa isreally stay on top of what's out

(15:46):
there, what's trending, what'snew, but also in a very smart
way.
You know, there's tons oftrends that come about and fads
that everyone you know might getright into, and then, six
months to a year down the road,it's like, oh yeah, that one
really didn't didn't really dowhat it said it was going to do.
So we really take the time atKatora Men'spa before we bring

(16:09):
something in to our medspa toreally kind of do the research,
learn all that we can about itto make sure that we're bringing
something into our clients thatwe truly believe in and that we
truly think is going to be thebest decision for our clients.
So, yes, we stay on top oftrends and what's new, but those
tight and true things arealways going to be there as well

(16:29):
, because we want to make surethat we have something that you
know, has that longevity therethat we truly believe in and
isn't just the next fad and thenit's going to be, you know,
gone in six months.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
Amazing.
You've got to be able to trust.
You know the products.
You want to go in there forBotox, right, but you don't want
to all of a sudden get sold onsomething that you've never
heard of before.
And then you know you're kindof like scared, you don't want
to be, comfortable and I lovethat.
I've never tried the cellulitetreatment, but that sounds

(16:59):
amazing and I can't wait.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
It is wonderful.
That's why a lot of my clientslove it too, cause they come.
You know one, it's gettingwarmer here in.
Florida.
So it is cold.
Um, it's a little cool, um, buthonestly they, they relax when
they come in.
And if some people have beennervous when they first come in
and they're like, oh, I'm scaredCause it's cold, it doesn't get
cold.
Um, it can get up to, uh, ordown to, I should say, negative

(17:25):
four degrees Celsius.
So it is getting into thosebelow freezing temperatures.
So some people do get a littlenervous about it.
But, um, you know, bring themin.
You know we do it in our samerooms where we do all of our
facials.
So, you know, we've got somelow light lighting, we've got
some nice relaxing spa music, um, but a lot of fall asleep.
A lot of people are like thisis you know that, and and it
kind of gives that goodone-on-one time where, um, it is

(17:47):
the estheticians that are doingthat cellulite treatment.
Um.
So it allows us to see them, you know, at least once a month,
if not more, to really kind offollow up with that continuity
of care, making sure that youknow they're following their
aftercare, that they're, youknow, doing what they need to be
doing after um to really ensurethat they're getting those best
results.

(18:07):
But yeah, a lot of people loveit.
They just come in and relax andthey're like, oh, this is nice,
that's great.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Yeah, especially, you know, when there's a new,
something that they haven't donebefore, and you're not sure
what's going to happen or howit's going to feel.
Then you know you can relax andthen see the results month over
month and coming back to yourtrusted esthetician to do it.
That's something you know thatwe all couldn't look for it,
because you know we need thosethings badly.

(18:33):
The summer's here help us.
Um yeah, and the weight losswe're you know couture is doing
now it goes hand in hand withthe, with, you know, just
redefining your body or theareas you want to work on
holistically.
You've got internal weight loss, you've got body contouring,
like working on the tissue andthe outside.
So I think that really does setthe coordinates well apart, and

(18:56):
so it's one of the things thatI'm very impressed by it's kind
of a full body experience whenyou come in.
Working on skin working onweight, working on tone and
texture.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
We have whatever we need there.
It it's not just Botox.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
There's a lot out there, right, but they all love
our books.
So, yeah, I mean, couture andMetzger does sound like a pretty
incredible place and you guyshave such a good team and highly
trained people, so it's justnice to know when you come in
the door it's going to be aone-stop shop for your inner and

(19:30):
outer wellness, with people youtrust.
So I love that.
So what do you think the bestway?
Like if I never heard aboutKatora Med Squad before and I
would just walked in, what wouldwhat?
How would I get started likeyeah, what would be that?
that first time in my experience.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
Yeah, absolutely so you know there's a couple couple
different ways to get in touchwith us, but I would say, yeah,
if you were just, you know, ifyou're local to one stopping in,
we always can schedule free, complimentary consultations.
So you know, it costs nothingup front for you to come in and
see what we do.
We're always going to bring youin, give you a tour around one

(20:06):
of our beautiful spots.
If you haven't been in yourspas, you need to go see them.
The first thing anyone sayswhen they come out like this is
beautiful.
So you know, come in, see ourspa.
We'll give you a tour aroundkind of show everything that we
do have to offer.
We've touched, you know, a goodamount of what we offer in
there, but there's so much thatwe offer.
Come in and see what we offer.
We'll show you around.
Um, we do do a free visia skinanalysis, which is really cool.

(20:32):
Um, I believe, again, mostplaces, if you go anywhere, they
charge around like 250 to 300just to have a video skin
analysis.
Um, but you know we'll bring youin and obviously we'll ask you
know what are your concerns, what are you kind of interested?
In but when we do your visiaskin analysis, um, it's going to
take a picture of your skin.
It takes three different photos.
It does cross Polaroidspictures, so it's going to show

(20:54):
not only what we can see visiblyon the surface, what's deep
below the skin as well.
that could be eventually kind ofmaking its way towards the
surface, and then it also has aUV filter as as well.
That's going to show you any oflike the sun damage is fine.
Everyone's like oh, I don'twant to see this, but it's good
to know it does.
Yes, very good to know what iswhat is down there, um, and it

(21:16):
does what's called a true skinage.
So it's going to say you knowwhat your skin age is, or what
what your age is, and then it'sgoing to show you what the age
of your skin is.
Wow, wow.
I can tell you.
When I first started AcutorMedSpa I was I believe I was
like 27 or 28.
My true skin age was abouteight years older than what I

(21:40):
originally was, and that wasstill even being at the
anesthesia and getting used toit.
But I can tell you I did myVisioSkin analysis about six
months ago now and just withdoing the treatments that we
offer at Couture using ourskincare, my skin is only one
year older than what I am.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
That's amazing.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
So it really is working, it really does work.
But, yeah, so it shows you thatand it is a good tool to kind
of gauge when you've been comingto see us for a while maybe six
months later, a year later, into your journey we can go back
and do another visio skinanalysis and have seen, yeah,
that's what we've improved onhigher skins doing.
But, yeah, if you can come in,we'll do that for you for free.

(22:21):
It's going to show everythingfrom fine lines and wrinkles,
tone and texture, youreverything.
It shows you a little bit ofeverything in there and then you
know where to start.
Exactly, so you know where tostart.
It also does an age simulator, which is kind of fun, but it'll

(22:42):
kind of show you, you know, ifyou're you're not doing these
types of treatments, kind ofwhat your skin's going to look
like.
And then it can kind of show youto like if we do some filler
where it can help here in theterminal volume.
So it's a really good tool thatwe do with all of our clients
who come in for their firsttreatment to really kind of get
a game plan together.
You know what, what are theproblem areas in the skin that
we want to work on, and it'llshow them, you know that, in

(23:05):
your client care coordinator whobrings you back and kind of
shows you all these we'll goover, okay, you know this were
some of you know the things thatshowed up on your Visia.
Here are some of the bestservices that are going to be
for you, um, you know.
So they'll talk all about thatwith you.
Your provider will come in andspeak with you as well, kind of
go over everything that you'relooking for, whether it is skin
you know skin that you'reworking on or it is injectables,

(23:27):
um, you know we'll give you afull consultation on what that
provider would recommend, um,and then you'll give everything
up to you up front and you thenyou can choose when to do
treatment that day.
We can.
If you want to think about it,that's great as well.
But you know we're always goingto give you that time to kind
of come in and see what we do,see what we have to offer, and
meet with the provider, get afull, you know consultation on
everything that you'reinterested in and then go from

(23:49):
