Now tell us why do we go to,how often and why do we go to
New York?
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Why and which I got
to keep up with these H's.
Okay, I'll do my best.
Well, I used to live in NewYork.
I went to NYU and came back toCalifornia and sometimes I miss
it.
I would never want to livethere again because it's just
crazy and a constant hustle, butit's so much fun to visit so we
try to go every year.
We hit all of our old favoriteplaces.
(01:24):
There's a lot of history there, with Paul and I our first kiss.
You know all these places thathave their imprint on our memory
and it's just fun to kind of goback there and you just feel
the energy and so many greatplaces to eat and that's a good
time.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
We were friends for a
couple of years before she
moved out there.
She transferred.
We met in junior college, Thenshe transferred to New York, but
we didn't start dating untilshe was actually living in New
York and I was living in LongBeach at the time.
So the first year and a half ofour relationship was long
distance.
Every holiday season we like totry and get out there.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Yeah, christmas is
the best time.
I mean not because it's thatmakes me sound touristy, but it
really is.
It's super magical and there'stwinkly lights everywhere.
Inside outside Saks, fifthAvenue is like a whole vibe and
there's, you know, carolers andclop-clopping of Christmas
horses and Central Park andsometimes snow and you get your
(02:23):
Pico and a little scarf.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Christmas horses, the
clop-clopping, all right, well,
we're going to take you throughour recent trip, as I just
mentioned, and but we also hadan additional mission this time
around.
You see, one of my favoritemovies is called the Adjustment
Bureau, and one of the sceneswas filmed in a dive bar in
(02:46):
Brooklyn.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Red Hook Brooklyn.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Called the Ice House
and we visited on our trip last
year.
I actually have some props fromthe movie that I won in an
auction years ago and we tookthose props back to the bar on
our trip last year and took somepictures sitting where Matt
Damon was sitting using theprops that he used in the film.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
That's one of my
favorites too.
We were totally nerding out.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
When the Adjustment
Bureau came out in 2011,.
It immediately became one of myfavorite movies of all time.
I loved so many of the mainelements.
I love New York City, I loveFedoras, I love Matt Damon,
emily Blunt and that first scenebetween the two of them.
Are you a registered New Yorkvoter?
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Do I sound like a man
?
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Soon after it was
released, I found an online
auction house calledPremierePropscom that was
auctioning off props, set pieces, costume pieces from the movie,
and I was able to get my handson a couple of really cool
things.
I do remember the scene in thebar where David was trying to
remember Elise's phone numberand Harry came in.
They had a conversation.
He ended up giving him a ferryticket.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Your entire world
just turned upside down and
you're thinking about it.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
I actually won the
auction for the hero pen that
David uses in the scene to tryto remember her number.
He's sitting there twiddling itand one of the tickets the hero
tickets that Harry hands Davidat the end and says meet me on
the boat, the only 4pm boat.
Well, thanks to the miracle ofthe Google machine, I was able
(04:46):
to find out what bar they filmedit at and I'm going to head out
there this weekend.
I'm going to take my pen and myferry ticket and I'm going to
sit where David tried toremember Elise's phone number.
I'm going to ride on a napkinand I'm going to make Jamie hand
me the ticket and we'll see ifwe can recreate the scene this
weekend.
(05:08):
We are sitting in the bar wherethey filmed this scene of the
adjustment bureau and I'msitting in the spot.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
See a little toucan
sign.
There's that one right there.
And in the movie David Norris, played by Matt Damon, is sitting
here with this actual pen.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
This is the pen from
one of the two.
And he gets a ticket and thisis the ticket from the mirror
and I have brought the pen.
