On deep cuts, usually I'm ending up last I I know.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
True, let's talk about it.
All right, that one, if anybodyout there wants to say thank
you to our performers thisevening.
Sorry, david, I didn't know youwere going to be on the show.
It's the same as mine, oh yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Well, I did fix that.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
Oh Wow, adapting on the go On the fly.

Speaker 7 (22:08):
On the fly.
Producer Craig.

Speaker 5 (22:11):
That's why he wears the producer hat.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
Yeah, boom.
If you're listening either liveor whenever you hear or see
this episode on the YouTubes andyou think I'd love to leave
that performer a tip because Iwas inspired or entertained in
some way, of course it's justlike a tip jar.

(22:34):
If you are out at dinner andyou're walking down the street
and you heard an amazingperformer and you want to say
thank you, here are the Venmotip jars right here on the
screen of the YouTube broadcastof each performer on the show
here this evening.
Of course we appreciate youbeing here watching the show and

(22:55):
every broadcast over YouTube isfree to enjoy.
But if you want to give alittle extra thanks to any
performer who has piqued yourinterest this evening or just
entertain you enough to you knowwant to say an extra little
extra thank you, there are waysto do that right there in the
Venmo tip jar.

(23:15):
We thank you so much.
All right, let's see what thewheel has in store for us next
as it's dwindling down.
Are the last three going to beCraig?

Speaker 3 (23:23):
I think they might be us next, as it's dwindling down
are the last three going to becraig?

Speaker 1 (23:26):
I think they might be well.
David's still on the wheel andamanda and amanda is still on
the wheel, all of the first ones, where all of the trivia that
all of the games happened firstand all the craigs are gonna
happen oh my, he cut vibes herewe're on track.
As you and I have experiencedthe season finale of Magical

(23:52):
Mystery Hour and you willprobably never experience the
season finale of Amanda onDemand, I don't know man.

Speaker 4 (24:01):
That's like.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Preparing for tonight .
What song selection popped intoyour head?
I don't know, man, that's likeugh.
Preparing for tonight.

Speaker 5 (24:09):
What song selection did you popped into your head.
I was having a hard time.
I was like I don't know whatI'm going to do.
It took me until today.
I was trying to think about itand because we were, you know,
over chat somebody was I forgetit was Nicole or somebody was
like, well, like, was there atheme?
I was I forget it was Nicole.
Or somebody was like, well, like, was there a theme?
I was like it's the end of theseason, you know something, the

(24:30):
end of the season-ish.
And I was like okay, and I so Istarted thinking about like,
well, like, what are things thatI connect to in the cove?
And, um, you know, I was justthinking about how many
different like artists you'vehad on and talking about their
stories and their truths.
And then, um, I just startedthinking about like how and I am

(24:51):
going through this right now.
It's funny.
And then I also had a messagefrom Bobby Kirby today and I was
telling him how I've written afew songs and I'm having a hard
time thinking about recordingthem, cause I said, you know,
the perfectionism and anxietysets in and he's like man, just
like, just do it.
He's like it's perfect at themoment, and then you can change

(25:12):
whatever you want later.
He's like put your stuff outthere.
And so it just had me thinkingabout how we, as artists, have
all these little demons in usthat we have to fight every day.
And then I was like, ah, that'sit, it's Fight Song.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
Yes, and who was the original artist?

Speaker 5 (25:34):
That's Rachel Platt I love it.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
I love the song.
I can't wait to hear youperform it.
Ladies and gentlemen, here'sAmanda Benjamin with Fight Song
Into motion like how a singleword could make a heart open.

Speaker 10 (26:08):
I might only have one match, but I can make an
explosion.
And all those things I didn'tsay were wrecking balls inside
my brain.
I will scream them loud tonight.
Can you hear my voice this time?
This is my fight song.
Take back my life song.

(26:31):
Prove I'm a right.
Song.
My power's turned on, startingright now.
I'll be strong.
I'll play my fight song and Idon't really care if nobody else
believes, cause I've still gota lot of fight left in me,

(27:05):
losing friends, I'm chasingsleep and everybody's worried
about me.
I'm in too deep, say I'm in toodeep.
It's been two years.
I miss my home.
There's a fire burning in mysoul.
I still believe.
Yeah, I still believe.
And all those things I didn'tsay?

(27:27):
I still believe.
Yeah, I still believe.
And all those things I didn'tsay were wrecking balls inside
my brain.
I will scream them loud tonight.
Can you hear my voice this time?
This is my fight song.
Take back my life song.
Prove I'm alright.
Song back my life song.

(27:54):
Prove I'm alright.
Song.
My power's turned on, startingright now.
I'll be strong.
I'll play my fight song and Idon't really care if nobody else
believes.
Nobody else believes, causeI've still got a lot of fight
left in me.
A lot of fight left in me, likea small boat on the ocean

(28:23):
sending big waves into motion, like how a single word can make
a heart open.
I might only have one match, but I can make an explosion.
This is my fight song.

(28:46):
Take back my life.
Song Prove I'm alright.
Song my power's turned on.
Starting right now, I'll bestrong.
I'll play my fight song.
Strong, I'll play my fight song.

(29:11):
And I don't really care ifnobody else believes, cause I've
still got a lot of fight leftin me.

Speaker 7 (29:33):
Yeah, I've still got a lot of fight left in me, so
beautiful.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
I was trying to hit applause but I had moved away to
try to find the hold music fromthe thing previous.
But oh my gosh, ladies and andgentlemen give it up for amanda
amazing if you're justexperiencing it for the first

(30:02):
time.
She does a weekly show on theVodacity Network YouTube channel
and Amanda on Demand everyWednesday night.
We will talk about it in full.
But of course she's also myco-host on the Magical Mystery
Hour, so find us there if youare a fan of podcasts and a fan

(30:23):
of mysteries and all of thethings.
We'll be launching season twovery soon.
Amanda, great job.

Speaker 5 (30:30):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Well, the wheel is hungry.

Speaker 5 (30:33):
It is.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
It's feeding it your sacrifices.

Speaker 5 (30:38):
I know Be ready, David.

Speaker 3 (30:40):
It's a three to one.
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 6 (30:42):
I'm feeling myself.
It's going to be me.

Speaker 7 (30:47):
Craig?
What is going on?
Please be David, please be me,I know.
I just want it to happen now.
Will David beat up Craig forthe final spot?
I want back to back Craig.

Speaker 5 (30:58):
Okay, well, it still could be back to back Craig.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
Bonus.
Here's the thing Throughout theseason season one Craig has
brought poems to each episodethat he's been able to produce
as an episode producer andsometimes, based on just the
conversations that I have withour guests, his poetry hits the

(31:23):
cutting room floor.
Because I try to keep up eachepisode under an hour and I said
, you know, I want to find achance for each performance and
each interpretation from Craigto actually, you know, be put
out into the world and forpeople to see it.
So I wanted to share it becausehe does.

(31:46):
He does a masterful job, asalways.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
Thank you, but I felt this poem kind of takes the
whole thing about vulnerability, being yourself and sharing it
with others and having othersjoin you.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
Yes, all right, can't wait to hear it yourself and
sharing it with others andhaving others join you.
Yes, all right, can't wait tohear it.
Ladies and gentlemen here, is.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
She touched the water by a spring-fed river.
She had a special gift todeliver, releasing the
inspiration from deep within her.
She said Drink, please.
Witness about saint and sinner.
Surrender your mind, become atrue believer.
The line between real andfantasy, you can make it thinner

(32:54):
.
So, with my cupped hands, Ibegan to deeply drink.
Muted grays became a vibrantpink drink.
Muted grays became a vibrantpink.
Thoughts and ideas weretransformed into ink.
It was all so fantastic, thosethings I could think.
She said write them all down orthey'll be gone in a blink.

(33:16):
Not all thoughts were happy, some, they made my heart sink.
The more I drank, the more Iwas elated.
Oh, how easily I concentratedIdeas, expressed, tales of
wonder, consecrated Secretly.
I craved being congratulated.
What was felt, what was written, felt solid, those things I

(33:42):
created.
Wise, wonderful words,emotionally weighted, wanting
more and more.
I couldn't be sated.
My magical muse began to worryabout me, who I was or might
soon be.
She said I must share thisburden to set you free.

(34:03):
So next to the river sheplanted flowers and trees.
Other poets coming abated mydis-ease.
She told them drink from theriver as much as you please.
If you don't, I will cause itto freeze Our muse whispered

(34:25):
loudly.
Poets, take your words near andfar.
Be true, kind and vulnerable.
Let people know who you are.
Hide messages in bottles.
Transport people to a distantstar.
Sing from the rooftops.
Tell limericks in a bar Poetryis music.
Play tunes on a guitar.
Shine bright like a fireflythat escaped from its jar.

(34:48):
Together we have a communitybeing with the rare few who
share our lunacy, the ones ableto decipher these things that we
see.
For us, it's a river, thisplace we love to be.
Gardens free of enemies, greengrass, rivers and trees.

(35:09):
We gather by the shore likebirds and bees.
You're welcome to join us.
Stay for as long as you please.

Speaker 7 (35:37):
So great.

Speaker 1 (35:38):
Love that and let's see if the wheel, or what order
the wheel, wants to hear thenext one.

Speaker 5 (35:46):
It has a plan.

Speaker 6 (35:48):
Being awful slow about revealing it.
I know it's me.

Speaker 3 (35:53):
It's a David Okay.

Speaker 5 (35:56):
We will get back to that Craig's at the end.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
What sprang into mind for you to perform?

Speaker 6 (36:03):
Well, it took a little bit of thinking, but then
I thought you know what thecove starts with a C and a cove
encloses part of the C, so it'sonly fitting that I play a
couple of short selections inthe key of C, and this is the

(36:25):
finale episode.
Both of these pieces I wrote ina program called Finale.

Speaker 7 (36:32):
Could it be any more?

Speaker 3 (36:33):
I'm not making this up.
So these are David originals.

Speaker 6 (36:38):
Yes, and I also thought that the very different
characters of each of these iskind of a good reflection of the
variety that paul has had inhis cove episodes over the
course of 36 episodes amazing.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
Well, so can't wait to hear some david benjamin
originals in the key of c.

Speaker 6 (37:00):
In the key of c and the first one was water inspired
.
So I'll tell you a little bitabout the.
The first one, uh, it startedoff as the accompaniment to a
song I was writing, based on apoem by a friend of ours, and I
ended up not being entirelyhappy with where it was going.
Not sure where it was going, Iended up turning it into a solo

(37:21):
piano piece.
So the poem was describing, youknow, laying down by you know,
a slow, flowing kind of lazyriver on a very warm summer
afternoon.
You have bugs sort of flittingaround, but the whole the air is
very still, it's just very calm.
And I titled this oneReflections.
What else you might get from itis entirely up to you as the

(37:46):
listener, but that was myinspiration for it.
And the second piece and, like Isaid, these are both fairly
short the second piece wasinspired by the piano.
I actually should say thisfirst one was very much also
influenced by Chopin.
The second piece was inspiredby the piano music of friedrich
kuhlau, who was a contemporaryof mozart, wrote a lot of short

(38:10):
piano pieces and such a lot ofhis music.
He was also an opera composer.
A lot of his music was lost ina house fire.
Oh, I think, had it not beenfor that, he probably would be
better known today because hewas a brilliant composer.
So the second piece was verymuch inspired by him.
So you can't think classicaltime period, uh, late 1700s,
early 1800s at that era.

(38:32):
So the first one wasreflections and the second one I
just titled after coolow.

Speaker 4 (38:42):
The, the, the, the no-transcript brain blown I

(44:33):
agree, nicole.

Speaker 3 (44:34):
I mean fingers hurt just watching and listening that
, david.
That was incredible.

Speaker 7 (44:38):
Well I love the vibe, like just they so different
both songs.
I love that so much.

Speaker 6 (44:45):
That's why I picked them.
I've actually written severalpieces in the key of C, so I was
kind of surprised.
I had a few choices to go from, but these two I thought you
know what.
They're short, I can reasonablysqueeze them in as a single
performance and, yeah, there'sgood variety.

Speaker 1 (45:03):
Loved it all original pieces by david benjamin in the
key of c reflections and aftercoolow performed live for us
here on the cove podcast, seasonone finale, david benjamin yes,
there are two spots on thewheel left and they're both for

(45:24):
producer craig.
I'll do the next recorded onefirst so he can do his live one
last.
Uh, this one was actuallytrimmed out of a very recent
podcast with our friend, chrisvillain.
Uh, who had so much great, amazing things to share and
craig of always has an amazingpoem to share.

(45:46):
Here, from the cropping roomfloor, is Craig's performance of
a poem from the episode withChris Villan.
Oh, can't wait to hear it.
Here's Craig Jackmaninterpreting what is Success, a
poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Speaker 3 (46:18):
To laugh often and much, to win the respect of
intelligent people and theaffection of children.
To earn the approbation ofhonest critics and endure the
betrayal of false friends.
To appreciate beauty.
To find the best in others.

(46:39):
To give of one's self others togive of one's self.
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a
garden patch or a redeemedsocial condition.
To have played and laughed withexaltation, to know even one

(47:05):
life has breathed easier becauseyou have lived.
This is to have succeeded.

Speaker 1 (47:31):
Amazing poem and just so fantastically interpreted by
our own producer, Craig Jackman.

Speaker 5 (47:39):
Now I want, like a personal poem from Craig Jackman
.

Speaker 4 (47:43):
What.

Speaker 5 (47:44):
Yeah, craig please.

Speaker 7 (47:45):
Just poem from Craig Jackman.
Yeah, craig, please.

Speaker 3 (47:49):
For me.
I think All right, I will dosome research, hey.

Speaker 6 (47:54):
Oh wait, am I included in this?

Speaker 1 (47:56):
Sure, why not have you found one for the season
finale of our show?

Speaker 3 (48:02):
Actually I have, and interestingly enough it relates
to today's date.

Speaker 1 (48:10):
Oh, it's a leap year thing.

Speaker 3 (48:11):
It's a leap year thing.
Yes, here's the info about it,the gentleman who wrote the poem
.
His real name is PaulMillicheap.
He's from Britain, but he goesby the poem the poet name of
Brian Bilston, and he's a poetand he knows it.

(48:32):
He writes about the humancondition, relationships and
buses.
One of his books is about busesUsing the suit and Okay.
So he began publishing shortand pithy, often humorous poems
on Twitter, which is where, which then spread widely through

(48:55):
the social media, and he hasbeen described as the poet
laureate of Twitter Of courseit's now X, but anyway as the
Poet Laureate of Twitter.
Of course it's now X, butanyway.
And he has also been called theBanksy of the poetry world
because in his publicity photoshe literally hides his face
behind a book.
So all you see is this, and thepoem that he wrote that I found

(49:22):
is called An Extra Day by BrianBilston.
If every year had an extra day,the things that I might do I'd
paddle down the Amazon in afiberglass canoe and topple this

(49:46):
bad government with anunexpected coup.
I'd write a five-part symphonyfor cello and kazoo.
If every year had an extra day,the things I might achieve I'd
have my own cosmetics range andinvest in new types of cheese.

(50:07):
And I don't think it's naive ofme to imagine that I'd receive
an Oscar for Best Picture frommy friend Keanu Reeves.
If every year had an extra day, there'd be no stopping me.
I'd fix the dripping tapupstairs, I'd save the honeybee

(50:28):
and travel around the countrycollecting honorary degrees,
finding time to decline theknighthoods and OBEs.
Why then, when an extra dayarrives, can no extra time be
found?
Perhaps I should try smallersteps, not wait for leaps and

(50:53):
bounds.

Speaker 7 (51:10):
I got chills with that.
That was like I love the endingso good.
Yeah, I love that one.

Speaker 6 (51:15):
That's very, very cute.
And then wow, profound.

Speaker 1 (51:19):
Yes, cute, and then, wow, profound.
Craig Jackman, ladies andgentlemen, got.
Basically I wanted to spreadhis poems out, but I left it up
to the wheel.
Who had it be All so, so,amazing.

(51:39):
We've gone through stages Actsone and two and three of this
show.
Act one was obviously the gamesand two, two was the music and

(52:10):
three was the poetry.
But I'm going to attack on anextra leg by performing a tune
formed um.
We did something for our friend,a friend of ours, uh, by the
name of tom caroza, who um is.
We met during covid it was ahuge part of the vodacity
network and um, if this crazything happened, his his
apartment in new york city.
It burned and nobody to thisday knows how the fire started.
But we came together as afamily on the vodacity network

(52:33):
to um do like a telecast, abroadcast, a support, an episode
to support and um help himthrough that tragedy.
And I opened the show with thissong.
It was the first time I everperformed it and I may have

(52:54):
performed it once or twice since, but I thought, um, it was
perfect for tonight because itjust encapsulates this uh family
that we have found here on theinternet, like based on all of
our backgrounds and the internetand the Vodacity network, and

(53:15):
leaning on each other andfinding grace and support
throughout any tragedy thathappens or any hardships that
we're going through.
Just know, knowing that youhave a sub, a family to support
you and, um, it just lends somuch to starting a new adventure

(53:38):
.
And that was me wanting to starta podcast.
Like three or four years ago.
I was like I want to do apodcast but I don't feel like I
have the support around me.
And then to, just seven monthsago, being like now is the time.

(53:58):
Now is the time to do it.
And everybody, all of thefriends and family that you have
seen you see in front of youright now and you've seen in
front of you the past Dari, thePierces and I'm just so grateful
for everybody.
And I feel like this was thesong to play as we closed season

(54:33):
one.
And here's a little bit of LeanOn me.
Sometimes in our lives we allhave pain, we all have sorrow,

(55:18):
but if we are wise, we know thatthere's always tomorrow.
Lean on me.
If you're not strong, I'll beyour friend.

(55:40):
Not strong, I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on, for it
won't be long till I'm gonnaneed somebody to lean on, so

(56:03):
please swallow Somebody to leanon.
So please swallow your pride IfI have things you need to borrow
, for no one can fill those ofyour needs that you won't let

(56:33):
show so just call on me, brother, if you need a hand, we all
need somebody to lean on.
I just might have a problem, youunderstand.

(56:58):
We all need somebody to lean on.
Lean on me.
When you're not strong, I'll beyour friend, I'll help you
carry on, for it won't be longtill I'm gonna need somebody to

(57:30):

Just call on me, brother, ifyou need a hand.
We all need somebody to lean on, I just might.
We all need somebody to lean on.
I just might have a problem,that you'd understand.

(57:51):

If there is a load you have tobear that you can't carry, I'm

(58:17):
right up the road.
I'll share your load if youjust call me.
Call me, come on, call me, callme.
