Crystal skulls occupy a fascinating space between archaeological mystery, spiritual practice, and ancient wisdom. While some view them merely as decorative objects, skull keepers know these crystalline guides can become powerful spiritual allies capable of transformation and healing.

My journey as a crystal skull keeper spans five years, though the soul connection feels much older. I've always been drawn to skull imagery, finding beauty rather than fear in these sacred formations. When I discovered the intersection between my love for crystals and my affinity for skulls, it opened an entirely new dimension in my spiritual practice. Now my collection of twelve crystal skulls provides daily guidance, amplifies my card readings, and connects me to wisdom that feels both ancient and immediate.

For those feeling called to crystal skull work, begin with a hand-carved clear quartz skull. After cleansing, spend time in deep meditation with your skull, asking for its name and purpose. Many keepers report profound spiritual connections developing over time as they incorporate their skull into regular practices. Sleep with it nearby, include it in divination work, or simply sit in contemplation together. The relationship between keeper and skull evolves naturally, creating a unique partnership that enhances your spiritual journey.

Ready to explore this fascinating spiritual practice? My upcoming book "Spirit Crystals" includes detailed guidance for working with crystal skulls, and Judy Hall's works provide excellent additional resources. Whether you're seeking deeper crystal connections or exploring new dimensions of spiritual guidance, crystal skull keeping offers a profoundly transformative path.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
And welcome to another Cozy Coven Chat.
I am your host, jenny C Bell, and we are continuing our deep
dive and series on crystals andcrystal healing.
Today we're going to bediscussing one of my favorite
topics crystal skulls.
I will be giving you a littlehistory, a little background,
from my best kind of memory, soplease don't quote me.
I will also be giving you someinformation on how and why you'd

(00:24):
want to connect with a crystalskull and how I work with them
in my life.
So first of all, I wanted tomention two really good
resources my book well, I saidtwo, so my book would definitely
be a good resource SpiritCrystals Discover your Crystal
Guide for Healing andEmpowerment comes out in the
summer, july 8th here in theUnited States and a month later

(00:46):
in the UK and Australia, and mywhole last chapter is dedicated
to working with all the spiritcrystals together in crystal
grids, and also there's asection that's, I think, very
helpful on crystal skulls.
So that's a great place tostart.
Another great book is Judy Hallthe crystal like she's got.
You can't go wrong with JudyHall.

(01:07):
She's got great books.
She has a book called CrystalSkulls Ancient Tools for Peace,
knowledge and Enlightenment andit's great and she has a really
wonderful story about buying acrystal skull who basically had
seen a lot of violence and wasneglected in a shop and how they
overcame that together.
It's really sweet.

(01:27):
And then it's kind of asurprise because it has nothing
about Crystal Skulls on the bookbut the source and it's the
source I used for my own bookthe 13 original clan mothers by
Jamie Sams, your sacred path todiscovering the gifts, talents
and abilities of the femininethrough the ancient teachings of
the sisterhood.
And there's a whole kind of youlearn about the 13 original

(01:50):
clan mothers and then at the endshe talks about a crystal skull
connection.
That kind of blew my mind andI'm a huge Jamie Sams fan.
I have both of her Oracle decks.
She's passed away but again, like Judy Hall, can't go wrong
with Jamie Sams.
She really helps you understandNative American teachings and

(02:11):
how to really connect and healthe divine feminine.
Beautiful author.
So I wanted to share all thoseresources first and then we'll
kind of dive in here.
So I've been working withCrystal Skulls for about five
years five or six years I wouldsay.
I will say that I do stronglybelieve I worked with them in
past lives because I've seenthat in my own visions.

(02:34):
It's come up in my Akashicrecords and other people have
seen it when they've given mereadings.
And I've always loved skeletonsand skulls, like ever since I
was a child.
I actually collect sugar skullsas well.
My Mexican bestie shout out toMyra has given me quite a few
cool little skeletons and skullkind of themed things through

(02:57):
the year.
I just have always lovedskeletons and skulls.
I don't find them scary, I findthem beautiful, I find them
fascinating.
Love skeletons and skulls.
I don't find them scary, I findthem beautiful, I find them
fascinating.
And when I learned that someonehad kind of put together the
world of, like my love ofcrystals and my love of skulls
and it was a thing that I couldniche, kind of a thing that I
could get into for spirituality,I was like sign me up.

(03:18):
Okay, so it's not for everybody.
So I put that out first.
Not everyone believes in thepower of crystals and the power
to heal with crystals.
Not everyone believes in spiritguides and some people are
really disturbed by skullimagery and I respect all of
that.
So the reason why I say thatnot everyone believes in guides
is because skull keepers whichis what I consider myself to be

(03:42):
are believe that a guide can beinvited into our skull or
sometimes comes with the skulland we can communicate with that
guide.
I know sounds kind of out thereand so, but this is what we
believe, and there are websitesthat are dedicated to rehoming
crystal skulls.
There are Facebook groupsdedicated to rehoming them.

(04:04):
Because we're not looked at,you don't just like buy one and
put it on a shelf and let itcollect dust and just be like,
yeah, it's cute or whatever.
We believe that you can have apresence, inhabit the skull.
You become a keeper of thatskull, you learn its name, you
work with it and then sometimesthe skull will be like I'm done
working with you and then you goto a rehoming group and you

(04:25):
have it work with someone else.
There are certain big, largecrystal skulls that are already
awake and open and sometimesthey will help awaken other
crystal skulls, and this is allpart of the crystal skull kind
of connection and, like I said,it's not for everyone.
One of the most famous crystalskulls in history and there's

(04:46):
some really great informationout there is what's called the
Mitchell Hedges skull, andwhat's really interesting about
this whole story is.
Mitchell Hedges is basicallythe real life Indiana Jones.
So he was an adventurer, he wasquote an archaeologist of sorts
and he was going to SouthAmerica and going into tombs and

(05:07):
doing all those things rightand trying to bring things back
to museums.
And he wrote two books abouthis life and his stories in the
books are different.
So he wrote one like early onin his career about his
adventures and then later wrotelike closer to his death, wrote
another memoir, autobiography, and some of the stories are

(05:30):
different than in the first book.
He's kind of part like thecrystal skulls himself.
He's part myth, part legend, like people don't really know
all that's true, but we do knowthat he claims to have found a
crystal skull in South America.
Now, I say claims because noteveryone believes the story.
So he was in South America withhis stepdaughter and they were

(05:56):
excavating pyramids or somethingsimilar to that.
From what I remember, and sheclaims she has, I think, passed
since then, but all the way upinto her death claimed that she
was looking into the excavationsite and saw something shining
and that was this MitchellHedges called the Mitchell
Hedges skull.

(06:17):
You can give it a quick search.
It is a pure crystal skull madeout of clear quartz crystal and
the bottom, the jaw, isremovable and it's pretty much
like a life size to a human.
And she claims to have found itthat day and that many people
throughout the years haveclaimed it to have supernatural

(06:37):
powers.
So there are people that haverun different tests on it.
There was a test on ExpeditionUnknown that proved that yes, it
was one piece of quartz, butwith modern technology it really
looked as if it was a modernpiece and not an ancient piece.
The way the marks on it thatsanded that like it smooth all

(06:57):
the grooves went one way, like awheel would have sanded it and
the ancient people of that areadid not use the wheel.
So to the scientists and to thehosts of expedition unknown it
seemed as though it was notancient.
Right, because what the belieffor so long about that crystal
skull was?
That it was ancient alientechnology of some kind or kind

(07:22):
of like an ancient, almost likean ancient spiritual race.
Basically, if you've seen theIndiana Jones movie, a lot of
people basically basically thatthat the aliens had come at some
point to south america, hadtaught the native people things
um, had helped them build thepyramids and also had built

(07:43):
these crystal skulls or madethem in some way and left them
behind as some kind of healingdevice.
So that's one story of thelegend of crystal skulls.
Another story is that they arefrom atlantis.
So atlantis, if you don't know,it's like atlantis and lemuria
are these ancient islands, theseplaces that supposedly existed

(08:08):
in real, in the real world, andwere both evolved for their time
, spiritual, um, really evolvedplaces, and then horrible things
happened to both of them andthey fell back into the ocean
right, lemuria is off thePacific, atlantis off the
Atlantic, and so there arepeople, especially in I've read

(08:28):
a lot of books of people fromlike the 70s and the 80s who
seemed to, when doing past liferegression, could remember lives
in both Atlantis and Lemuria, and so a lot of the information
we get is from that.
A lot of the information we getabout it is from Edward Cayce,
who was the sleeping prophet.
He would basically go into atrance and basically look like

(08:48):
he was sleeping and then wouldbe able to connect with people
in their past lives, connectwith his own past lives, and he
gave us a lot of the informationthat new age and metaphysical
people have used to talk aboutAtlantis and Lemuria.
So one of the theories is thatMitchell Hedges' skull is one of
13 that were from Atlantis andthat Atlantis your stories wrote

(09:13):
, atlantis and Lemuria beingthese ancient cultures but being
very technological savvy andusing crystals for healing.
They used sound for healing.
They used crystals for healingand communication People have
talked about they use crystalsto move vehicles.
There's all of this kind ofinformation.
So in Lemuria it was believedthat the Lemurians connected to

(09:36):
quartz crystal and they usedthem to kind of code the earth.
Right, we have these ley linesand they were using that as a
way of communication.
And you can actually buy youprobably have seen them for sale
Lemurian seed crystals.
They are clear quartz crystalswith like little lines on them
and that supposedly holds therecords for Lemuria and if you

(09:58):
get one of those and you have apast life in Lumeria, it can
really help you evolve.
And then the crystal skullssome people say there were some
in Lumeria, but most people, ifthey're going to go this route,
this kind of story, they'regoing to talk about Atlantis and
talk about how they were partof Atlantis and the Atlantean
priests used them in ceremonyand then, when Atlantis fell,

(10:18):
they took them out of Atlantisand hid them all over the world,
and Mitchell Hedges was one ofthe ones that was found.
Now I'm using supposedlybecause, again, with
spirituality, with metaphysical, with new age, even with
witchcraft, it's notscience-based right, and so this
is conjecture, this is we dohave some evidence of someone

(10:41):
talking about Atlantis inancient Greece, but we can't
prove these things.
These are things that maybe youhear these stories and you're
like yeah, this resonates withme and I kind of think of it the
way Sharon Blackie talks aboutin her books about, and even
like Women who Run With theWolves, joseph Campbell too

(11:03):
Myths.
We Live by that.
There are certain myths, fairytales, folklore stories that
resonate on a soul level.
Right, that we just go.
I feel that I feel Alice inWonderland, like.
I feel like Alice, I connectwith that story, I dream about
that story, I see symbols ofthat story.
The story really resonates withme.
This is how I personally viewthe Lemuria and the Atlantis

(11:28):
stories.
Avalon is another example andancient Avalon and the Isle of
Avalon.
I view it as myths we can liveby, like if you feel a soul
connection, then that's a truthfor you and your soul and your
spiritual movement.
Does it mean that it'sscientifically, historically
accurate?

(11:48):
Don't know, right, it doesn'tmatter when it's, you're doing
it just.
You're using this myth to helpyou with your spiritual
involvement.
You're doing it just.
You're using this myth to helpyou with your spiritual
involvement, right?
Don't know.
And so those are all thedifferent kind of stories of
crystal skulls.
Supposedly there are the 13 outthere.
Some of them have been foundAgain, I'm saying supposedly and

(12:11):
they get secretly traded bypowerful people.
It's another kind of conspiracytheory is that powerful people
are in charge of these skullsand it brings them immense
wealth and power and healing andthey get secretly traded.
Their skulls have differentshapes and I talk about that in
my book.
I think my book's the only oneI mentioned that talks about the
different shapes.
You have a regular humanoid, you have a traveler alien, you

(12:33):
have a magical child kind ofshape, there's animal ones, I
have a dragon skull.
They have these different kindof shapes to them.
So, regardless of whether youwant to dive into the conspiracy
theories and the stories andthe myths and the supposed
histories, totally up to you.
Right, the Mitchell Hedges isthe most popular one because

(12:56):
it's the only one we've had somescientific tests done.
It's the only one that's beenphotographed and in video and
it's the only one people reallyknow about and, like I said, a
lot of people have said they'vehad really deep spiritual
experiences.
You can read firsthand accountson that and to me I've always
been a person that's like itdoesn't matter, like I don't

(13:20):
care how the world came to be.
The world is here.
I don't care what story youbelieve about crystal skulls,
but I know that working withthis crystal skull really helps
me and I do believe there are 13original skulls out there.
Do I think they've been found?
I'm not quite convinced, um,but I do believe in that and

(13:41):
Jamie Sam's book actually helpedme really believe in that
further and really kind ofjustify that belief.
So that's kind of thebackground on the skulls.
What does this mean for you asthe at-home practitioner right,
as the spiritual seeker, or thewitchy woman or witchy human or
witchy person that has seen acrystal skull at their local

(14:03):
shop and bought one, that hasseen a crystal skull at their
local shop and bought one and islike, oh well, now you're
telling me like they're morethan what.
It's not just like a symbol fordeath, or I don't just put it
on my Samhain altar.
There's more to it.
Yeah, there's more to it.
So something that you can do isconnect with the guide.
You can invite a guide into theskull.
Sometimes they come alreadywith a guide.

(14:25):
And so how do you do that?
Well, cleanse your crystalright.
Cleanse your crystal skull.
However you cleanse thingsselenite, sacred smoke, water if
it's something you can getwater on, give it a good cleanse
.
Use the activation, theconnection meditation that I
shared in the last podcast, where, instead of having a

(14:46):
crystal with the big blanket andconnecting with it, you're
going to connect with the skulland the skull's energy.
After you're done with thecleansing and the connecting,
look into the skull's eyes andask to connect with it, ask for
a name, ask to connect with it.
I have 12 skulls in the house.
I don't work with all of them.
I have had an easier timeconnecting with quartz skulls.

(15:12):
Now I do.
Particularly.
I like quartz right.
All my, all the spirit crystalsare in the quartz family.
I personally have a deepconnection with clear quartz.
The quartz crystals are feelmore alive to me personally and
they're much easier for me toconnect with.
So that's personal.
If you haven't bought one you'rethinking about buying one, I
really highly suggest a clearquartz.

(15:32):
My two favorite are actuallyLemurian clear quartz and I do
like them to be hand carved, soI want to be able to look at
them.
I want to see imperfection, because you can get them
obviously laser carved and theylook perfect and some people are
into that, but I just feel likethey don't have a personality
that way.
I want them to be hand carved.

(15:52):
I want to be able to seeimperfections, I want to feel
the humanness of and there aresome famous carvers out there,
some famous carvers out there,so you can look into that as
well.
There's some that are stillmaking crystal skulls and make
some amazing, amazing skulls,right.
So I think a quartz family andI think hand carved.

(16:14):
And now if you already boughtyours, it's not those things,
it's okay, you can still connectwith it.
You're going to, like I said, cleanse, you're going to connect
and then you're going to askfor a name.
Once you receive the name, thenwhat you can do is just work
with that crystal spirit, thatcrystal school, as a guide, and
so what that means is you havespirit guides, you have a spirit

(16:34):
team and, like I said in thebeginning of this podcast.
Not everybody believes in that.
So it does take a leap of faithfor you to already believe in a
spirit guide, to believe in thehealing powers of crystals, and
then to put that together anddecide that, yeah, I want to be
a skull keeper and I want toconnect with the crystal.
And, like I've said before, sometimes we have to know what's

(16:55):
possible, right, like if youread Judy Hall's book, when you
read my book, you'll hear ourstories, you'll see what's
possible with crystal skulls andit really will help you kind of
open up and connect with themmore.
If you're like, well, thisisn't enough information, you
have to wait for the book, okay,so last chapter of the book, I
give you step-by-step guides onhow to buy a crystal skull, how

(17:17):
to connect with it and then whatto do from there.
I have to save something forthe book, right?
But for now, what I want you totake away from this is that if
you already have one at home oryou've been thinking about
getting one, do it, get it,cleanse it, connect with it and
just see what unfolds.
So something just you know.
Put it, connect with it, askfor a name.

(17:39):
If you don't get a name.
Ask again in a couple days.
Take it with you.
If it's small, have it lay next, sit next to you when you sleep
, face you.
Like I said in the previouspodcast, ask to connect with it
in your dreams.
When you open your AkashicRecords, have it with you.
If you meditate, have it withyou when you do card pulls.
Crystal skulls are amazing.

(17:59):
I always have this crystalskull in particular with me when
I do card readings.
I have her face me and kind ofhelp guide me, because crystals
are amplifiers, especially clearcords.
It amplifies the energy.
She helps me focus and it'slike okay, like help me see
anything I'm not seeing with myown eyes.
So that's why I have her.
She faces me.

(18:20):
So it's like she's looking oneway at the cards, I'm looking
the other way and we work as ateam together.
It's been a really great kindof relationship for me to work
with these skulls and it's notjust, you know, a decoration.
They really can be come an ally, become a friend, become a
guide, and that's kind of themeaning of being a skull keeper

(18:43):
and I think this is a greatpractice for anybody that's open
to it.
So if you're listening to thisand you're like this sounds kind
of crazy.
I'm not into it, that's fine, all right, we don't have to take
everything on the journey.
You know you're supposed tocollect the tools and the things
that make sense to you on thejourney.
If this is not resonating, thenleave it.
But if it is resonating, right,I invite you to do some of your

(19:07):
own research, to start lookinginto the world of skull keeping
and see what's possible.
Look at the different carvingsand different styles.
It's so exciting.
I just I feel like it helps usgo into the next level, or the
deeper level, of crystal healing.
So if you're already beenworking with crystals for a long
time, like I was, I was workingfor crystals crystals for about
almost 20 years and then Idiscovered crystal souls that,

(19:30):
like reignited my passion forcrystals again.
They are the ones that gave methe spirit crystals book and all
the guidance.
They've been amazing guides forme.
So it's a little out thereputting myself out there today.
Thank you for listening and Ihope this resonates.
And if it doesn't, leave it andthen still come back, I promise
it won't be as weird next time.

(19:51):
Thank you.
