Have you ever felt drawn to a crystal without knowing why? That magnetic pull might be more than just aesthetic appreciation—it might be the beginning of a profound conversation.

My journey with crystals spans over two decades, beginning when I was just 19 years old living in the Mojave Desert. By day, I was a geology student and treasurer of our college geology club, learning the scientific foundations of crystal formation. By night, I attended crystal healing classes at the local metaphysical shop, beginning my spiritual exploration of these ancient stones. This dual approach gave me a unique perspective where science and spirituality weren't at odds but complementary paths to understanding crystal consciousness.

The magic truly deepened when I began channeling information directly from the crystals themselves. Without extensive research or reading numerous crystal books, I received detailed guidance about crystal properties, sacred numbers, archetypes, and healing applications—information that later proved consistent with established crystal wisdom when I finally consulted reference materials. This experience transformed my relationship with crystals from intellectual to conversational, revealing them as conscious allies rather than mere objects.

This July, my first book Spirit Crystals: Discover your Crystal Guide for Healing Empowerment will be published by Llewellyn, sharing this integrated approach to crystal work. Whether you identify as a witch, a metaphysical practitioner, or someone curious about natural healing, crystals offer a tangible connection to earth energy and ancient wisdom. You don't need extensive knowledge to begin—simply hold a crystal to your heart, breathe deeply, and allow yourself to feel what emerges. The most powerful relationship with crystals comes not from memorizing properties but from developing your own intuitive connection.

Ready to start or deepen your crystal journey? Connect with a crystal today and trust your intuitive senses. Listen to future episodes in this mini-series for specific techniques and insights about working with these remarkable stone allies.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to another Cozy Coven Chat.
I am your host, jenny Seabell, and today I'm focused on the
journey of crystals and myjourney in particular with
crystals.
My journey has been a longjourney.
I started seriously workingwith crystals at 19.
And that has resulted in myfirst ever book being published

(00:20):
in July here in the US, a monthlater in the UK and Australia,
and it's coming from Llewellyn.
It's called Spirit CrystalsDiscover your Crystal Guide for
Healing Empowerment.
And because it's coming out sosoon, I wanted to make a little
mini series in my podcast hereon crystals, and I wanted to
first start, of course, with myjourney.

(00:41):
As you know, I'm veryinterested in stories and in
journeys of people, and in thewitch's journey in particular,
because it's such an interestingpath.
It's such a kind of make yourown way path.
Right, you could be a witch for50 years and never work with
crystals, and that's okay, right.
Or you could be just focused oncrystals, and that's okay,

(01:03):
right.
It's such a varied kind of wayto be a witch, and so I wanted
to share my crystal journey withyou as a way of hopefully
inspiring you to work withcrystals, but also to give you
an understanding of where I'mcoming from.
And I'll start by saying that, even though I have a book called

(01:24):
Spirit Crystals right, which isvery metaphysical, very new age
even though I am a Reiki master, even though I work with angels
, I consider myself a witch.
So a lot of the things I dodefinitely probably fall into
the category of spiritual, newage or metaphysical, and I think

(01:47):
you can do both.
I think you can walk the lineof both.
I think of witches as beingliminal beings.
We hold liminal space.
We walk in between worlds and Idefinitely walk in between the
world of witchcraft and new agespirituality, right, and that's

(02:08):
that's my journey.
That's who I am and I don't.
I feel comfortable in bothworlds.
I feel comfortable aroundwitches, I feel comfortable
around spiritual, new age,metaphysical people.
I just don't.
There's definitely a difference, but I see the past as
converging.
I feel like they're braided, they're intertwined in so many
ways they share some similarhistories.

(02:30):
You know, you can call yourselfa spiritual person and do
witchy things, right.
You can call yourself a witchand do new, agey things.
So this book, I would say, isprobably under the category more
of new age, even though I dotalk about Hecate and there are
some spells in here some ritualsthat are definitely more on the

(02:51):
witchcraft path, but it's myown thing and I've come to just
kind of, in my path, be okaywith being both, being
authentically both.
I definitely, like I said,identify as a witch because
that's my foundation, that's mygrounding and it's given me the
knowledge base, understanding tobe able to expand and learn,

(03:13):
like Akashic records and Reikiand stuff, because I already
knew energy movement, right, Ialready understood energy
healing on a witchy level, right, and so it's all kind of
connected energy healing on awitchy level, right, and so it's
all kind of connected.
So, my very first, I've alwaysliked stones and crystals.
To start with that, I'm aTaurus sun, so I love to be

(03:33):
outside, I love pretty things.
I was always like collectingseashells at the beach instead
of like being in the water right, I will always pick up a shiny
rock wherever I am.
And when I entered college Ihad to take a science and one of
them had to be a physicalscience, and I always wanted to
take geology.
Geology wasn't offered to me inmy high school and so I took a

(03:56):
geology class.
It wasn't introduction togeology.
I want to say it was Californiageology as the first class.
I ended up taking about sixclasses with this professor.
He was amazing.
I was the treasurer of ourgeology club in college and he
was definitely not into what hecalled, like even then, the woo
woo.
He would say you're not herebecause, like you're interested

(04:17):
in the woo woo part of crystals,I was like, oh no, definitely
not.
Like no, nope, nope, not for me.
I just just really aminterested in why they're, the
color, they are the minerals,right.
And so I was doing that.
And at the same time in ourtown we had a like a
metaphysical store open up andthat store offered a class on

(04:38):
crystal healing.
And so I'm geology clubtreasure by day and then taking
this crystal healing class andreally diving in and going in
and talking to the teacherafterwards and really starting
my crystal healing journey at 19.
And it was a really beautifulway to start things, because I
lived in the Mojave Desert andif you've ever lived in a desert

(05:00):
, rock hounding, rock, findingso amazing because they're all
exposed right, there's nothing, there's not a lot of plants
hiding the rocks and so with myprofessor I got to go get hay
light, which is a special pinksalt that smells so horrible.
The town opens it up for aweekend and you can go excavate
the salt and you have to wearlike waterproof boots and it's

(05:22):
like this dead kind of fishysmell, really kind of gross, but
beautiful pieces of hay light.
My professor took us out.
I found garnet.
I found opal.
On one of our extended fieldtrips we did which was camping
as well, I have found went to atalc mine.
I've been to a gold mine.
I have found boron out in, orborax out in boron, which is in

(05:48):
the desert.
It was just I got this kind ofground up understanding taking
all these geology classes right101 and California geology and
then geology of just the desertand historical geology, taking
all of these courses.
By the way, I was an Englishmajor.
I only needed one of thesescience classes but I was hooked

(06:10):
and I just really loved myprofessor.
Like I said, he was amazing andI just he actually like gave me
a wedding gift when I gotmarried.
He was really cool and I reallyfelt this craving for this
understanding of this knowledgeand he told me I was a natural
and there wasn't a lot of womenin geology and he actually had
me go to like a speaking thingwhere it was like women in

(06:32):
geology.
And he's like, see, there's nota lot of women Like this is a
really good field for you.
And I was like, no, Like I justI always wanted to be a teacher
.
I didn't even consider beingbeing a geology professor like
him.
So I was doing all of this.
And then meanwhile I took myfirst class, our textbook for my
crystal healing class.
I'm showing it on camera onYouTube.

(06:59):
It's called Crystal Wisdom, volume 6, crystal and Gemstone
Dictionary A Complete, conciseGuide to the New Age Gemstones
and crystals, listing thespiritual attributes of each
stone by dolphin, and it'sd-o-l-f-y-n.
I have become a collector ofdolphin books.
That was a name that the authorwent by.
They are true gems, punintended, but the book was.
It's just very stripped down,it's hand stapled, but it offers

(07:22):
like a great dictionaryunderstanding of all the
crystals.
And then my teacher what partof the class is that?
We got the book when we gotthere and then she told us which
crystals we were going to belearning about or focusing on
for that class and she let us gointo the store part of what we
paid for us for the crystals andintuitively pick out one of

(07:43):
each of the crystals that wewere discussing.
And so I had my book, I had mylittle notepad, I had all my
crystals, we did meditations, wedid all these things and it
really was life-changing.
Because it was.
I knew there was potential incrystals and understanding,
connecting and healing with themfrom all the books I had read
on witchcraft and I already hadsome crystals.
But I just needed someonealmost like to give me

(08:06):
permission of what's possible, and I think that happens a lot
in spirituality and witchcraft.
We just need to know what'spossible, because, you know, in
a in our modern society andWestern culture, a lot of what
we believe in is consideredfantasy and people.
If you can't see it, it's avery um.
We live in a very science-basedculture.

(08:27):
It's very materialistic, meaning that if we can't see it
in the material world, we can'tprove it, then it doesn't exist.
And so I needed to have someonetell me what's possible with
crystals and show me and let meconnect with it, for me to
really unleash my ownunderstanding and connection

(08:48):
with them.
And so, yeah, at the same timeI'm taking this crystal healing
class, and then there was lotsof.
She gave us homework and wecould check in with her and it
was about, you know, workingwith the crystals and how to
connect with them and meditatewith them and use them and work
with them and make elixirs, allof these things.
And then I'm also out in thefield, collecting crystals,

(09:10):
understanding the rock cycle, learning how they're made, and
it just really justified it forme.
It's like, well, if thesecrystals are taking like
millions of years through allthis change and movement,
they're alive.
They're alive to me, right, itmade sense, because it's like
they can metamorphosize.
The lava seems alive when itflows.

(09:30):
It's amazing.
And so that really, at the ageof 19, got me going on my
journey and from then on Ibecame a crystal collector.
Nothing crazy, I don't.
I still would love one of thosebig amethyst lava bombs that
you can get.
They are like amethyst crystaland the outside is like a lava

(09:51):
encasement.
I wish I had bought one a longtime ago when they weren't so
expensive, but I digress.
But I was.
I have just.
I always liked little tumbledstones because that's what we
used in our class, and I've cometo prefer, as they've gotten
older, some raw crystals as well.
I like the chipped crystals, but I became a collector and

(10:13):
understand and trying tounderstand how the crystals
worked right and how differentones affected my energy and how
different ones affected spellwork, and it just became a very
intuitive practice.
Right, I didn't buy anothercrystal book for a good like 20
years.
Really.
I just didn't feel the need.

(10:35):
I had my one book and myselfand all the practices I've
learned and the geologybackground.
I just kind of felt like I'mgood, I'm good to go and I
really do think that the bestpath with crystals and stones is
an intuitive path.
I would say something similarabout plants and herbs but you

(10:55):
have to be careful because youcan be poisoned.
You don't want you to hurtyourself, right?
But with crystals and stones, for the most part, just picking
it up and like putting it atyour heart space and taking some
deep breaths and figuring outhow to connect with it is a
really great method and so, yeah, so I began at 19 and then I've
always had crystals in the home.

(11:17):
I've always gone rock houndingand collecting crystals.
When we moved here to the PNWand collected serpentine and I'm
still wanting to collectobsidian, which is near here as
well and I was just always justkind of open.
And then I joined Angel Team, kyle Gray's Angel Team in 2019,

(11:37):
2020.
And I really started to reawakenmy quest for knowledge and this
time it wasn't completelywitchy based, it was based on
also new age and metaphysical Iwanted.
I started also learning theAkashic records at that point
started connecting with angelsand it was through Kyle Gray

(11:58):
that I took my first class oncrystal skulls.
I had already been drawn to acrystal skull prior to taking
his class and I already had oneand I had been debating on which
book to get, ended up getting abook by Judy Hall and I'd read
the book and then he offered aclass.
It was kind of like a one-off,it was an angel team and he's

(12:19):
like the skull makes youuncomfortable, like you don't
need to sign up for it.
It was like pay for thisone-time live class with Kyle
and at the time I think he wasworking on his.
He has a crystal certificationcourse and I think he was
working on that and wanted to dosomething just on the skulls
and so I took that class.
I think it was about two hourslive class and it just

(12:53):
reawakened what I already knew.
Kyle is very Reiki based and weused a very similar method to
Reiki energy movement to connectwith the crystal which name and
really work with it.
And doing that just opened up ahuge pathway for me.
So I'll dive into Crystal Skullsin a later episode, just you
know, especially if you'reinterested, even if you don't
have one.
And yeah, the Indiana Jonesmovie is based on some actual

(13:15):
kind of truths, half-truths andsome beliefs that people have on
crystal skulls.
So if you've seen the movie, yeah, we can talk about that
another time.
But I took that crystal skullclass.
I connected with my Lemuriancrystal skull and then I started
meditating with her every dayand her guidance.
And then there was a littleanother one, a little male one.

(13:38):
I started connecting with himand meditated with both of them
daily and then I started havingthem out when I opened my
Akashic records because theywere really giving me a lot of
clarity, a lot of guidance andso I wanted to just go in the
records.
I would go in the records.
I had already had a coupleclasses on Udemy and I went in
the records and was like whatshould be my next course?

(14:00):
And in one I record.
So the way I have my clearsenses or I'm clear, I'm clear
audience, I hear, and sosometimes it's like I don't even
hear.
I just speak really.
So I always have my voicerecorder on my phone out and
I'll open the records and I'lljust start speaking and it's

(14:20):
sounds different than my actualvoice, which is why I don't
share it with a lot of people, and I also it's different than I
would speak.
So then I really know it's notme.
Someone is coming in and usingme as a vessel and I'm
channeling, and so I got that Iwas to teach spirit crystals and
I was given all of theinformation on which crystals

(14:41):
and how they're connected, andreally that entire book is
channeled and writtenintuitively.
What is so wild andsynchronistic and beautiful is
so many of the things Ichanneled later while writing
the book trying to get research, research and having sources,
like making sure what I'm sayingis on track with what other

(15:03):
people are saying.
It always was, and this isstuff I wasn't aware of Cause,
like I said, I wasn't buyingcrystal books.
It wasn't something I wasactively studying.
It was just I had worked withcrystals for so long that they
were really speaking to me and Iwas actually afraid to share
that with people.
That they really were speakingto me and I was really
channeling straight from thecrystals until I recently

(15:24):
listened to the first season ofthe telepathy tapes, which is
another podcast and I've talkedabout on TikTok and in our coven
and I highly recommend.
But it's a podcast based onnonverbal autistic children and
their caregivers and some of theamazing things, the gifts that
these autistic children have, and one of them talked about

(15:46):
like they're spellers so theytype out what they think and
what they feel and they'realways so beautifully written.
But one of them recently, likehe shared about how he could
hear the crystals.
The crystals were talking tothem and they we all know they
have a frequency, right, that'sone of the cool things about
quartz crystals.
They have their own frequencyand it's their piezoelectric and

(16:07):
they you know electricity, electricity currents, their
quartz are in our phones and inour watches and it's an
amplifier.
We already knew that andthere's like the different sound
bowls when they're made out ofcrystal I think they have a very
beautiful sound and verydifferent than a metal sound
bowl.
So we kind of like you know, weall know there's like more

(16:28):
information now about thisfrequency and things.
But he was saying he could hearthem.
He could hear them like I canhear them right.
So I think that the frequencyright Some of us can really
connect with and really justhave and I know this sounds
probably far-fetched for a lotof people but, like I said, this

(16:49):
was channeled information andwhen I went to go look in books
and it just solidified that yeah, this is what other people are
saying about this crystal orthis is what other people are
saying about this number, because I was given sacred
numbers for each crystal, I wasgiven archetypes, I was given
past life information for eachspirit crystal.
I mean, I was given so muchinformation and then to see that

(17:11):
it all made sense, I think it'spretty amazing.
And so my crystal journey hasalways been one of intuition.
It's always been like you can Ihave the Judy Hall encyclopedic
books.
They're beautiful.
The crystal Bibles are threeset.
She's a wonderful writer.
She's a wonderful writer.
It's's a wonderful writer.
It's great information and it'sreally good.
If you, like, are going shoppingfor a crystal, you receive a

(17:34):
crystal and you're like what doother people say about it?
But honestly, my most of myjourney has just been intuitive.
It's been I find a stone or acrystal out in the world.
If I can't identify it.
I just work to connect with itand learn what the healing
properties are.
I pick up a crystal at acrystal shop and decide, you
know, is this for me yes or no?

(17:55):
Bring it home and then, likemaybe later, after months of
working with crystal, be likeyou know what.
I'm going to look it up andit'll be exactly what I was
already getting.
Right, it's the healinginformation I was receiving.
So my journey really has beenabout this the spirituality, the
intuition.
I love the science.
I really do.
I think it's really fascinatingand it just kind of solidifies

(18:17):
and I think anybody that'sreally interested in crystals
should review some basic geology, because it's just going to,
it's going to amplify it.
I think a lot of witches arescience minded.
You know we are probablyespecially like new age.
People are seen as airy fairyand kind of like out there, but

(18:38):
I think many of us are actuallypretty grounded and try to merge
the science with the spirit, like an alchemist right, an
alchemy and I was.
You know what they were doing.
They were merging the scienceand the spirit as one.
They weren't separating at all.
And so, yes, my journey, Iwould say, has been intuitive.
My favorite crystal is a clearquartz crystal that, and I feel

(19:03):
justified because people willjust say it's a simple one, you
can find it everywhere.
Sometimes it's even left out oflike books or card decks,
because it's just seen as likethere's just it's so prevalent,
it's not important, but it wasused by so many shaman of
different cultures, ancientcultures, like they really saw
that as such an importantcrystal itself, or stone it was

(19:24):
when they were drawn to.
When they use time and timeagain, then it feels like, yeah,
that's again the intuitionchecks out and so if you are on
your crystal journey, I highlysuggest putting the books and
the internet aside andconnecting with whatever
crystals you already have and inthe way that I was sharing and

(19:48):
I'm actually going to make apodcast episode on connecting
with crystals and so just beingintuitive right, just allowing
the crystal to connect with youand share what it's here to help
you with.
Because they have thisfrequency, they have this energy
, right, everything's energy, everything has, you know, this

(20:09):
energy exchange.
It's not, it's not in your headwhen you're like, I feel better
when I have my crystal in mypocket, like it's, it's real,
it's a comfort, and that's why Ialways say that, like crystals
and animal guides and plants, they're allies.
I don't believe in programminga crystal and being like this is
what you're going to do for me.
I think gritting crystalgritting is different, but I

(20:34):
don't believe in that, becausethey're a friend, they're an
ally, and if you just ask themand you work with them, you have
this energy exchange.
That kind of thing happensnaturally.
So today, if you want to getstarted on a crystal journey,
use what's around you.
You probably, being a witchlistening to this podcast,
probably have crystal jewelry ora crystal somewhere you got in
an Etsy box or something and useit to connect with and allow

(20:57):
yourself to believe in the magic.
That's part of it, right?
We have to be open and ready toreceive the magic.
We have to let go of the needto be like well, am I right?
Let me look it up in the book.
Do other people say that that'swhat this crystal is for?
Let that go and let yourself beopen to the conversation with
the crystal.

(21:17):
Thank you so much for listening.
This is a little different, right, it's a little more new
age, but it's who I am.
I'm wanting to be moreauthentically myself.
Like I said, I feel I walk bothworlds.
I am a witch, but I'm also aspiritual person and I see value
in things like A Course inMiracles right, and it's not for

(21:40):
everybody, but I found value init.
I also see value in doingcertain witchy practices like
freezer spells, right.
So I just I think for me it'sall about balance and, like I
said, witchcraft is kind of acut and paste religion.
You take what works and youleave what doesn't.
So I hope you enjoy this and Ihope that you connect with a

(22:00):
crystal today.
