(00:05):
Create art podcast specialedition listener reviews and upcoming
events.
Hello, friend.
This is Timothy Keemo Bryan, your head instigator for Create art
(00:25):
podcast, where I bring my over30 years of experience in the arts
and education world to helpyou tame your inner critic and create
more than you consume.
So here it is.
We're in October where I'm athere in Fredericksburg, Virginia,
and fall is, fall has sprung, what can I say?
(00:46):
Pumpkins and leaves and allthat kind of good stuff and nice
chilly weather.
And I just wanted to do aspecial episode here for you.
Take a little break from, frommake fun a habit and let you know
a couple of things that aregoing on here.
Also, I wanted to do somethingthat I haven't done in the past,
which is read a message that Ireceived from a listener, a longtime
(01:12):
listener and a fellow collaborator.
And that would be from YorkCampbell, now York.
He runs the welcome to Earthstories over@welcometoearthstories.com
and I have appeared on hisshow numerous times.
Season seven.
I was the subject of a wholeseries of a whole season, which blows
(01:34):
my mind.
But he recently wrote to meand I just wanted to.
And he was commenting on myprevious episode of using negativity,
using hate to fuel your creativity.
So without further ado, thisis what York wrote me.
Hey Tim, I enjoyed yourepisode on harnessing Hate.
What I hate about myself is mylack of confidence.
(01:56):
And when you said that aboutyourself, I could relate.
There are so many things I'lllike to do, but, and that's a big
but.
My lack of confidence gets inthe way and it hijacks everything.
Thanks for your honesty.
That's what I admire about youand your show.
You're always sincere.
Keep on making great episodes, and I'm going to continue on because
(02:20):
most of podcasters won't do this.
But he said your last episodehad some microphone issues.
You sounded far away from themic, but in the outro you sounded
clearer and louder.
There's also some staticforgot you.
Perhaps you forgot to turn offthe or turn on the noise gate.
But overall, he enjoyed theepisode and happy podcasting.
(02:40):
And I, I just wanted to say,and I replied back to him, naturally,
but I just wanted to say thatI've been using the same microphone.
The Re 320.
Re 320 is not sponsoring thisepisode, and I've been using it for
so long, it could be an issuewith the microphone.
So hopefully this sounds alittle bit better.
I've got things turned up theway they should be, but I just wanted
(03:03):
to share with you all what hewrote, because it really touches
me because I really enjoylistening to his show and I enjoy,
obviously, being part of the show.
Thank you, York, for that.
And thank you for being myears out there in the field letting
me know, hey, Tim, you didsomething a little bit messed up
there.
So York, thank you very muchfor that.
(03:25):
So next up, I'd like to goback to my podmatch site and some
of the reviews from the gueststhat have been on this show.
We'll start with the mostrecent guest, Doctor Joshua Karbala,
and he said that it was agreat experience.
Really enjoyed chatting with Timothy.
He was great with making mefeel comfortable, ask great questions
(03:46):
and all in all, and is an allaround great soul to connect with.
Now I use podmatch and I'lltalk more about Pod match later,
but Pod match gives me greatguests to choose from and they connect
us up very well.
So definitely if you're apodcaster or if you want to be on
(04:07):
podcast, you're going to wantto check out Pod match.
And they have a lot of greathosts to interview you.
Or if you are a host, have alot of great guests to interview.
The next one is Shabbana, which I interviewed way back in July,
June, July.
She says, tim was a great, engaging, thoughtful host.
(04:31):
It was wonderful and inspiring experience.
And Shabbat has wonderful, hasa wonderful project going on right
now, and I'd like to talkabout that for just a moment, if
I may have.
So this is from her newsletter.
Far away is close, and thetitle of it is catalyst, journey
(04:53):
and ravensong.
And it's a webinar where yourvoice is catalyst and I will have
the links for it.
It's going to be 690 minutes, sessions starting November 16 and
ending on the winter solstice.
And it's basically creatingyour creed.
(05:14):
And if you register October15, I'm recording this on October
15, but if you register, shehas different discounts and you can
do a one on one with her.
Links will be on her calendar.
Check it out.
It looks like it's going to bea wonderful event.
It's going to be a bunch ofsessions that is going to help you
(05:35):
out.
So definitely check out myshow notes for it now.
Have the links there for youso that way you can participate in
that.
So next up is Kristen Rudberg, and she writes, what a fun interview.
Honestly, we talked abouteverything from Oscar Wilde to screenwriting
Maya Darren to me being kickedout of the library.
(05:55):
What a fabulous platform and asuper fun host.
And she also has a podcast, bite sized blessings again, show.
The links will be in the shownotes there for you.
And Amy Bernstein is a bookcoach, and she writes a wonderful,
intuitive, free flowingconversation that focused on the
(06:17):
essentials around creativityand great questions.
And last and certainly notleast, one of my favorite interviewees,
Ronica Merrill.
She's been on the show acouple of times now, and she writes,
this is one of the mostwonderful experiences I've had with
a podcast host.
Tim is so kind, smart, andfull of deepen wisdom.
(06:39):
What a great person to chat with.
So I bring all of this to you.
Not to brag and not to boast, although I do like butter on my breakfast
toast.
Reminds me of an old rap song,if you get it, if you don't, just
pass by, it's just him havingone of his moments.
But I bring this to youbecause I want to let you know that
(07:02):
in my podcast journey, I havegotten to meet some wonderful people.
Too many to mention at thispoint, but this is something that
I want to do every year, andnot just at the end of the year and
going, hey, thanks for beingon my show, blah, blah, blah, blah,
blah, blah.
And then doing that.
I these are their words.
These are not my words.
These are what they are sayingabout me, which makes me feel great.
(07:25):
And sometimes when you're outthere and doing your artwork and
all you hear is crickets, you're thinking, am I really getting
through to people?
And this tells me that Iabsolutely am.
Obviously, I have a listenerwho's a co collaborator that really
enjoys what I do and whosework I respect, which is York, and
then the people I've metthrough pod match and who have been
(07:48):
on my show.
Ten years ago, I would havenever thought that I would have been
talking to these people.
I had no idea who they wereten years ago.
And now I have their email.
I can reach out to them at any time.
They can reach back to me.
And it's a wonderful time anda wonderful opportunity.
Opportunity.
So I say all this to encourageyou to go out there, show your art,
(08:11):
whatever it is, be it writing, music, podcasting, whatever it is.
Go out there and interact withyour public, with your audience,
with your listeners, just likeI'm doing here with you right now.
And again, it's not a brag.
It's just I want to share thiswith you.
It encourages me and I want toencourage you, and that's why I do
(08:33):
the shows.
I want to encourage you toshow your work, to show that art,
and to create more than youconsume and tame your inner critic.
It's not just words that I sayat the end of the show.
It's something I truly believe in.
Okay.
At this point now, I'd like toswitch gears and talk about upcoming
events and things that aregoing on in my life right now.
(08:56):
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I'mdoing personal training, and my first
session with personal trainingended up me passing out because I've
been diagnosed withhypertension, high blood pressure,
and diabetes.
So, naturally, my first thingwas, let me go get a personal trainer,
and let's get on some meds.
And I did all that in the same day.
Big mistake.
(09:16):
Don't do that, folks.
But what I'm trying to do isI'm trying to better myself physically
so I can be there for my wife, for my kids, and for you.
Because if I'm laid up, sickin bed, and can't move and can't
talk in this microphone, you're gonna be without a podcast.
And we can't let that happen, can we?
(09:37):
So, yeah, some health issuesgoing on there, but they are being
taken care of.
And for those of you that havereached out to me through this very
socials that I'm on, thank youvery much for doing that.
And things are gonna be a okay.
Something that I've done formy mind and for my spirit is I've
joined a 90 day meditationchallenge by Yogi Brian.
(09:59):
B r y a n.
He spells it incorrectly, butthat's okay.
He's a good guy.
And as of today, October 15,I'm about halfway through that 90
day challenge, and basicallywhat I do is I get up, set up my
work computer, and I'll do abrain training game.
I'll do Duolingo, learningFrench, and then I'll do this meditation.
(10:22):
And it has worked wonders forme, and it's brought me a lot of
peace, a lot of calmness.
Of course, yes, I havehypertension, high blood pressure,
but, hey, I'm a dad of twins, right?
So there we go.
But I highly recommend thatyou give it a shot.
Try it out for yourselves.
Try meditation out for yourselves.
We've talked about this andmake fun habit being present.
(10:42):
And I think back in thatepisode, I talked about meditation,
so give that a shot for yourself.
If you're finding yourselfstuck in certain areas or don't know
where to go, I always believethat the answer is within all of
us, and we can all tap intothe collective unconsciousness.
So give it a shot for yourselfand see if that doesn't help you
out now moving into upcoming projects.
(11:05):
National Novel writing monthis coming up in about 16 days.
November 1 is when it starts.
I usually participate in that.
It's also a national podcastpost month.
And again, I usuallyparticipate in both of those.
But this year, what I'm goingto do is I am going to work on novel
(11:25):
that I started about three orfour years ago, and I want to finish
it.
It's at 90,000 words and it'ssomething that I want to finish before
I work on the next novel thatI didn't finish and then the third
novel that I didn't finish.
So I'm going to go back tothat novel and I'm going to finish
it out.
It's still going to be a rough draft.
(11:46):
I don't know how long it'sgoing to be.
It's probably going to beanother 50 to 90,000 words.
But it's not about the words.
It's about the story.
And is it entertaining anddoes it reach out to you?
So in November, that's whatI'm going to be doing.
I don't know how much of thatI'm going to share with you, but
I would encourage you to checkout national novel writing months.
(12:08):
And again, it's in the show notes.
If you want to participate itin yourself, it's free.
You write 50,000 words in 30days and you have yourself a short
novel right there.
So I challenge you.
Give it a shot for yourself.
I'm just going back to finisha novel, so I guess I'm participating
in it.
Just finishing off a novelthat I had started about three or
(12:29):
four years ago.
Something else I'm going to beworking on throughout the end of
the year.
And I had started, I talkedabout this back in April, is writing
or compiling another poetrybook of, for the past five years.
Of all the poems that I'vewritten for Napo Rhaimo, that's national
poetry writing month.
(12:49):
And so after November intoDecember, I'll start working on that
book and editing those poemsdown and putting them into a book
form and then naturally goingahead and selling that book here
on the website.
And hopefully you take a lookat that.
Not hopefully, I know you'lltake a look at it and read it and
(13:11):
let me know which ones areyour favorites, because I have a
few personal favorites.
And the Friday night poetryopen mic that I go to, they have
a few of the favorites, too.
So those are the upcomingprojects that I have that I'm working
with.
I'm also going to do a coupleof visual arts projects as well.
One of them is going to be theshow art that I create for the episode,
(13:33):
art that I create for every episode.
And I want to do a collage ofall those.
And so I'm going to be workingon that again at the end of this
year, beginning of next year.
And I'm also doing a, youknow, trying to sketch every day.
I haven't, hasn't worked outtoo well, but I also want to do a
series of those and presentthose in public.
(13:56):
And then I also am thinkingabout taking some of my string paintings
that I have hanging up on thewall and putting them up at OG's,
which is a coffee shop here inFredericksburg, Virginia, run by
my nephew who has been on theshow, Mister Ethan Rush.
And or maybe we'll just goahead and do some prints of them
and put them up for sale.
(14:16):
And when that happens, I willdefinitely let you know.
You will have first crack at it.
If you want to collect someartwork from me that looks like a
fourth four year old on crackup made it, by all means.
It's coming soon to a podcastnear you.
Alright, I wanted to save thispart for the end.
So first, I have started up myown podcasting consulting agency.
(14:40):
It's all called TKB podcastStudio and that's where I help my
clients lead through the noiseand develop great podcasts.
I already have my first clientfor them.
If you're thinking aboutstarting a podcast and you want a
hand with it, feel free toemail me and I'd be happy to help
(15:01):
you out.
Timothy at tkbpodcaststudio.com is where you can email
me at.
And I'm developing thewebsite, so that's also a project
that I'm working on.
I have too many projects.
Me next, I did want to let youall know that I have a couple of
links in my show notes for acouple of affiliate programs that
(15:23):
I'm working with.
One is podcast Beacon andthat's where you can have a little
watch thing or a littlewristband and people can tap their
phones on it and go straightto your website, straight to your
podcast.
So the links for that, ifyou're interested, are in the show
notes.
(15:44):
I also have a link for Podmatch, which is an affiliate link
for them.
And again, I highly recommend it.
I the guests that I justtalked about a little while ago here,
I got all of those off of podmatch, so definitely check out Pod
match for yourself.
You can use my affiliate link.
Will it give me a little bitof money?
(16:05):
Sure.
Yeah, why not?
But check that out foryourself and see if that works for
you.
And if that helps you out, letme know.
Make sure if you sign up forpod match link up with me because
I'm on there as well.
So the last affiliate linkthat I have is for pod page and that's
where I, that service is whymy website looks so good.
(16:30):
I don't know how to code.
I don't know what I'm doingwith that.
So pod match helps me presentmy podcast in the best possible light.
So if you're, if you have apodcast and you are looking to do
wonderful things with yourwebsite, by all means, give that
a look see for yourself.
Again with these affiliate links.
(16:50):
Yeah.
Do I get a little bit of doughwith that?
Just a little bit?
Yes, if you buy, yes, I get alittle bit of a kickback there.
But these are things that Iuse myself.
And if you have questionsabout any of these products, please
let me know and I'd be happyto talk to you about it and show
you what I have.
Heck, I'll even do a zoom zoomcall or a teams call with you and
(17:12):
show you the backside of itand the behind the scenes stuff.
And I'd be happy to share thatinformation with you if it's going
to help you out.
If it's not, then by allmeans, just hit that skip button
for about 30 seconds and youdon't need to listen to what I'm
saying.
So that's, that's what we havethere for you.
So I know I got a lot out ofthis episode.
(17:35):
I hope you did, too.
And I just want you to get outthere and interact with your audience
and interact with the peoplethat are buying your work or interested
in your work, just like Ihave, and then do a scrap folder
for yourself of when thesethings come in.
Just put into a little folderand go.
Anytime you're feeling you'rehearing more crickets than you are,
(17:57):
applause bring these out andlet others know about it.
So if you got something out ofthis, and I know you did, feel free
to share it with a friend.
That's the best way to find,to find podcasts.
And just also let you know, too.
I have another podcast calledfind a podcast about.
You can grab that at find apodcast about XYZ.
(18:21):
And that's where I reviewother podcasts that are out there.
There's millions of them outthere, but I'm bringing you the ones
that I feel are binge worthy.
So check out Findapodcastabout XYZ and find your next binge
worthy podcast.
Outsmart that algorithm, whydon't you?
Okay, that's all I have foryou today.
(18:42):
Next episode, which will be intwo weeks, we'll go back into the
make fun a habit.
And I can't wait to go backinto that because making fun a habit
and this is one of the thingsthat I learned in make fun a habit
is when you get responses, when you get feedback, save it and
look at it when it's a rainy day.
(19:04):
And for me it was a rainy daywhen I got diagnosed with hypertension,
high blood pressure and diabetes.
So I needed to see all thesethings and they happened just at
the right time.
So go out there, tame thatinner critic.
Create more than you consume.
Make some art for somebody youlove yourself.
(19:26):
If you want to reach out to me.
Timothy@creatcast.com have agreat one.
I'll talk to you soon.
