In this solo episode of Creative Space, I’m diving into something I’ve lived through, and something I see often in my coaching clients: the quiet signs that it’s time for a change.

We don’t always realize it when we’re stuck. Sometimes we’re too busy being “responsible,” too afraid to admit that what we’re doing doesn’t light us up anymore. But the truth is, your inner restlessness might be trying to tell you something.

I share five signs that helped me recognize I needed to pivot, along with stories from my own life and reflections that might resonate with you too. If you’ve been feeling unsettled, stuck, or a little off… this one’s for you.

And if you want support navigating your next step,  I’d love to offer you a free 30-minute discovery call to see if coaching might be right for you. Book here.

Jennifer Logue (00:10):
Hello and welcome back to Creative Space.
I'm Jennifer Logue, a creativecoach and fellow human figuring
it out right alongside of you.
So if you're new here, thispodcast is all about exploring
what it really means to live acreative, authentic and
fulfilling life, whether thatmeans embracing big dreams, tiny

(00:35):
changes and all the points inbetween.
Today's topic is one that'sreally close to my heart, and
we're talking about five signsyou might be ready for a change.
Because, let's be real, changeis scary.
Even when something isn'tworking anymore, it can feel
safer to cling to what'sfamiliar than to step out into

(00:58):
the unknown, and I know thisfirsthand.
For years I was doing whatlooked responsible and grown up
on paper, but inside I feltrestless.
It took me a long time to admitI needed a change.
So today I want to share fivesigns that you might be ready
for a change in your own life, based on my own experience and

(01:21):
the work I do with my coachingclients.
My hope is that you'll hearthese and maybe recognize
yourself in one or a few, andthat it will give you permission
to get curious about what mightbe next for you.
Okay, sign number one Thingsfeel heavy instead of light.
I love asking this questionDoes it feel heavy or does it

(01:43):
feel light?
When I was thinking aboutbuying my house in Philly on
paper it was the smart move Lowinterest rates, stability,
adulting but in my heart it feltheavy.
There was no sense of expansionor possibility, despite the
fact it was supposed to be agood investment.
So if the path you're on feelslike you're dragging yourself

(02:06):
through it, that's a sign thatmaybe you need to change.
If what you're about to dofeels draining instead of
exciting, that's a sign.
Deep down, you know what's bestfor you.
You know what your next bestmove is, and that's going to be
different for all of us, becausewe were all born with a unique

(02:26):
purpose, with unique gifts.
So what's right for me may becompletely different than what's
right for you.
So sit with that.
Sit with whatever you'recontemplating.
Does it feel heavy or does itfeel light?
Sign number two you're sayingshould more than want.
This one I see constantly in mycoaching clients and again,

(02:51):
it's probably because I've livedit too.
I realized most of my choicesat a certain time were coming
from a place of should.
I should stay here and bloomwhere I'm planted.
I should be grateful for what Ihave.
I shouldn't want more.
I should stay here and bloomwhere I'm planted.
I should be grateful for what Ihave.
I shouldn't want more.
I should stay in this jobbecause it's stable Stable.
I should be realistic.

(03:13):
I shouldn't rock the boat.
The word should is often a deadgiveaway.
You're living someone else'sscript.
You're living someone else'slife.
If you're not even lettingyourself think about what it is
you want, you might be avoidinga change you actually need.
Sign number three even whenthings look good, you're

(03:34):
restless.
This one is a little sneaky Onpaper.
My life was great.
I had the house, I was settled, but there was this constant low
level buzz of restlessness.
So I kept the house.
I was settled, but there wasthis constant low-level buzz of
restlessness.
So I kept myself busy, Idecorated, I made the house cute
and cozy, but that feeling ofrestlessness, it never went away

(03:55):
.
Restlessness is often our soulnudging us.
It's saying this, isn't it?
There's more If you're restless, even when things seem fine,
pay attention and dig a littledeeper.
What are you restless about?
Is there something you couldchange?
But you're avoiding it.

(04:15):
Sign number four you're makingexcuses to stay put.
It's not the right time.
I've already spent so much onfurniture.
I'll live here and I'll justtravel more.
That's the solution.
Pennsylvania is more affordablethan California and while some
of these reasons might be true, they were excuses more than

(04:37):
anything.
Change is uncomfortable.
It threatens our sense ofcontrol and for me, losing that
sense of control is what kept meclinging to my house and my
comfort zone in Philadelphia forso long.
Fear of losing control can leadto so many of us rationalizing,

(04:57):
staying stuck, so you catchyourself constantly justifying
why you can't.
That's a sign to pause and askis this really true or am I
scared?
And on that note, think aboutthis for a second.
Do happy people constantlyoveranalyze why they're not

(05:18):
doing something?
No, because they're happy withthe choice they made.
They're at peace withthemselves in this area.
Anyway, just something to thinkabout.
Sign number five you'reconstantly escaping reality.
This one affects so many peopleand you may not even realize
you're doing it at first, butyou're always keeping yourself

(05:42):
distracted.
You're binging shows,doom-scrolling shopping,
drinking, overworking, sayingyes to every plan, anything to
avoid sitting quietly with yourown thoughts.
For me, I filled my calendar, Ithrew myself into work, I
obsessed over decorating myhouse.
It felt productive, but it wasreally just me avoiding the

(06:05):
truth.
I wasn't happy living where Iwas.
We often escape reality becauseit's uncomfortable to face what
we really want, because wantingsomething different can be scary
, because it means getting outof our comfort zone and making
new choices.
But here's the thing If you'reconstantly escaping, it's worth
asking what am I trying not tofeel?

(06:27):
Because that's usually wherethe answer is.
So let's recap the five signsyou're ready for a change.
Number one it feels heavyinstead of light.
Number two you're saying shouldinstead of want.
Number three you're restlesseven when things look good.
Number four you're makingexcuses to stay put.

(06:49):
And number five you'reconstantly escaping reality.
If any of this resonated withyou, know that you're not alone.
Change can be hard, it can bevulnerable, but it's also where
the magic happens.
And the truth is you don't haveto do it all alone.
If you're feeling a pull tomake a change in your life and

(07:11):
you want help getting clear onwhat you really want or figuring
out what your next step is, I'dlove to help.
This is exactly what I do withmy coaching clients.
I offer complimentary discoverycalls to see if we're a good
fit to work together, andthere's no pressure, it's just
an honest conversation.
