Kenneth A. Welsh, a former investment advisor from River Edge, New Jersey, has been convicted of defrauding multiple clients out of over $3 million. The fraudulent scheme, which ran from 2017 to 2021, involved a series of deceptive tactics designed to divert client funds for personal gain.

Welsh's role as a trusted financial advisor allowed him to exploit the confidence of his clients. By forging documents, misrepresenting account balances, and diverting funds to personal accounts, he systematically drained their investments. The stolen funds were subsequently used to finance a lavish lifestyle, including gambling and luxury purchases.

On November 20, 2024, Welsh pleaded guilty to four counts of wire fraud and one count of investment advisor fraud. His sentencing is scheduled for March 26, 2025. The charges carry significant penalties, including potential prison time and substantial fines.

The FBI investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Shontae D. Gray is leading the prosecution. This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of due diligence when selecting financial advisors and highlights the potential consequences of financial fraud.
