הוא יצא לאוויר העולם בקול תרועה כמתיחה של 1 באפריל, בשנת 2004 - שירות אימייל של גוגל עם ממשק חדשני ופורץ דרך שזכה לשֶם: Gmail. לאחר תקופת השקה רכה וארוכה, ב-2009 ג'ימייל הושק כשירות מסחרי מלא.
ב- 2013 גוגל עיצבה מחדש את ממשק המשתמש שלה והוסיפה סינון מיילים מובנה לקטגוריות לפי חלוקה לטאבים – Gmail Tabs – ביניהם גם טאב "קידומי המכירות" הידוע לשמצה...
מדוורים רבים חושבים בטעות כי טאב קידומי המכירות הוא תיבת “דואר זבל” (ספאם).
זה לחלוטין לא המצב: כל הטאבים הם Inbox המחולק ב- Gmail לקטגוריות שונות. מיילים שהגיעו ל”קידומי מכירות” הגיעו ל-Inbox.
רבים חושבים שניתן לבלף את מנגנון הסינון ב-Gmail ולגרום למיילים שנשלחים לרשימות תפוצה להגיע ל-טאב הראשי, אך לרוב ניסיונות אלה מתגלים על ידי המסננות המצוינות של Gmail וגורמות למנגנון להעניש את המדוורים.
ב-2018 גוגל עשתה מהפך בשימושיות של טאב קידומי המכירות ויצרה הזדמנויות מדהימות, שלא ראיתי אף מדוור ישראלי מיישם...
