The sounds of live tropicalmusic and happy people are a big
part of cruising, but there willbe times onboard, in port and
traveling to your ship when youwant to tune out and control
your audio environment.
To that end, here are some tipsfor a sweet sounding cruise
vacation.
Here's a quick rundown on thegadgets, the power and the
entertainment you'll need.
First, the sound gadgets.
(02:03):
I highly recommend a pair ofover the ear, ear muff-sstyle
wireless headphones.
Whether you're trying to watch amovie on your device over the
noise of the airplane engine oryou need to hear an important
phone call in a crowdedenvironment, over the ear
headphones that block ambientnoise or a must, you can buy
very good quality passive noisecancellation headphones, which
(02:23):
just means the padding blocksout sound for about 40 bucks on
Amazon.
Higher end activenoise-canceling models start
closer to$100 if you can findthem on sale.
The noise-canceling does make abig difference and I really
recommend these.
Secondly, in-ear wirelessheadphones.
You can get decent quality inyour wireless headphones for
about 20 bucks.
(02:44):
Styles that have magneticearpieces are recommended as
they connected into a necklacewhen not in use.
They're very small and easy tocarry all the time.
They clipped the neck of yourshirt and they're always
available for when you need tohear a phone call or just want
to zone out to your own music.
Unlike the high end earbuds, itwon't be a crushing blow when
you or your kids invariably losethem.
(03:04):
While a little bit harder tolose, you may want to bring an
extra pair of the a in earheadphones just in case.
Next on the list, a portableBluetooth speaker.
Whether in your hotel room or onyour cruise balcony or
especially when you're on thebeach, a small speaker is a
must.
A huge variety of good qualitywaterproof models are available
from 25 to 150 bucks.
(03:26):
They're easy to pack, easy tocarry(pro tip: add a carabiner
clip so you can hang it up) andthe batteries often last 10
hours or more.
Finally good old fashionedearplugs.
Cheap effective at taking upalmost no space.
Ear plugs are a great way toshut out the noise when it's
time to sleep.
Next, the power.
(03:47):
Your devices aren't worth muchif you ca n't k eep them
running.
First.
I recommend a mobile charger forabout 20 to 50 bucks.
You can get a two to three portmobile battery charger for the
size of one or two packs ofcards.
Th ey w ill keep all of yourelectronics ch arge f or days.
It's great on planes if you havemultiple flights and easy enough
(04:08):
to throw in a pocket or pursewhen you realize that you forgot
to plug your phone in lastnight.
Secondly, Multiport wallchargers, especially when
traveling with family, you mayfind that there aren't enough
plugs to go around.
Multi outlet plugs and Multiportchargers are a small inexpensive
solution that lets you charge abunch of devices at once.
(04:28):
Finally, extra power cords forwhen the ones you have get left
in the hotel room by mistake orthey just mysteriously stopped
working.
Instead of spending yourvacation hunting around to try
to find the right cord thatworks with your phone.
Just pull an extra one out ofyour bag.
Now you can't count on havinggood or free wifi when you
travel.
(04:49):
So think ahead and download theentertainment that you want to
watch or listen to before youleave home.
I would recommend differentmusic playlists for different
moods, maybe one for sleep, onefor dancing, one for working
out, one for relaxing, etcetera.
Next, a selection of movies andshows to watch on airplanes or
for entertaining the kids.
(05:10):
Now, both Netflix and Amazonprime video allow downloading
content free as part of theirsubscription, and you can also
buy on store content on yourdevice.
You may be interested inrecorded books or perhaps a
podcast or two.
These tips will keep you andyour family and friends relaxed
and entertain throughout yourcruise travels.
