Ready to transform your teaching with multicultural resources that actually reflect all your students? You've just found exactly what you've been searching for.

Representation isn't just a buzzword—it's a critical component of effective teaching. When students see themselves in learning materials, they engage more deeply, connect more meaningfully, and ultimately achieve more academically. Yet finding high-quality, standards-aligned resources that authentically celebrate diversity remains challenging for even the most dedicated educators.

That's precisely why I've created over 70 culturally responsive lesson plans that take the guesswork out of inclusive teaching. From "Your Name is a Song," which helps students explore the beauty and significance of diverse names, to "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind," which incorporates engineering concepts through William Kamkwamba's inspiring story, these resources seamlessly integrate cultural awareness with academic rigor. The "Cinderella Around the World" unit introduces students to various cultural versions of the classic tale, enhancing critical thinking while exploring both universal themes and unique cultural perspectives.

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello, welcome back to the Cultural Curriculum Chat
podcast, and I am your host, jeba Edmond, and today we're
diving into something I am trulypassionate about helping
educators create inclusive,engaging and culturally
responsive classrooms.
If you're a teacher looking forhigh quality, ready to use

(00:22):
lesson plans that celebratediversity and empower your
students, then this episode isfor you.
I know firsthand howchallenging it can be to find
resources that truly reflect thediverse experiences of our
students.
That's exactly why I created acollection of multicultural

(00:43):
lesson plans that are availablenow on my website at
jebaedmondscom.
Forward slash shop.
Whether you're teaching socialstudies, ela or looking for ways
to infuse cultural competencyinto your curriculum, I've got
you covered, boo.
I've got you covered, boo.
So research shows why inclusivelesson plans matter is that

(01:08):
students perform better whenthey see themselves reflected in
their own learning materials.
I say this so many times overthe last four and a half years
that I've had this podcast.
Representation matters.
When we incorporate diverseperspectives, we're not only
enriching our students'educational experiences, but

(01:29):
we're also fostering empathy, understanding and respect for
different cultures.
My lesson plans are designedwith this in mind.
They all align with Common Corestandards and are easy to
implement and, most importantly, they make learning meaningful
and impactful for all of ourstudents.

(01:51):
I have a few feature lessonplans that I'd like to share
with you just to kind of giveyou a little taste.
And these lesson plans bringcultural awareness and
inclusivity into your classroom.
The first lesson plan I want toshare is called your Name is a
Song.
Now I interviewed the author ofthe book your Name is a Song,

(02:15):
jamila Tompkins Bigelow, hugefan of hers, and the reason why
she wrote this book was shenoticed that there was a lack of
representation of the diverseand multi-ethnic names in our
classrooms, and this lessonencourages students to explore
the beauty and significance ofnames from different cultures.

(02:36):
There's going to be engagingactivities and students will
understand the importance ofrespecting and celebrating
everyone's unique identity.
So I'll have that linked intothe description and show notes
for you after this episode.
The Boy who Harnessed the Windlesson plan.
It's based on the inspiringtrue story of William Kamkwamba,

(02:59):
and this lesson plan helpsstudents grasp the elements of
an autobiography and thedetermination required to
overcome those challenges.
It's perfect for discussions oninnovation, perseverance,
engineering and the impact ofrenewable energy.
I did this lesson for myprimary students with the

(03:24):
picture book as well as a reviewof chapters for our chapter
review book, with discussionquestions for my older secondary
students as well.
So check those two out.
The I Am Enough lesson plan.
Using Grace Byer's empoweringbook.
This lesson fostersself-acceptance and confidence

(03:47):
amongst our students.
It guides them throughunderstanding and appreciating
their self-worth and the valuesof others, and it promotes a
positive and inclusive classroomenvironment.
You're also going to learnCinderella stories from around
the world.
This is a unit plan that Icreated, and this comprehensive

(04:07):
unit introduces our students tovarious Cinderella tales from
different cultures.
It highlights both unique anduniversal themes.
It's an excellent way tocompare narratives, explore
cultural diversity and enhancecritical thinking skills.
I know teachers are busy andoften spending their own money

(04:29):
on resources, so I've made theselesson plans affordable and
impactful.
Plus, I'm running a specialdiscount right now, so I want
you to head over to thejebaedmondscom forward slash
shop and check out the latestdeals and you'll get a bigger
bonus coupon code if you sign uptoday on my newsletter, the

(04:56):

notes.
Once you get that sign up, Iwill be having this promotion
and you will get that secretcoupon code that nobody else has
because you are a subscriber onmy newsletter.
I'm so excited, and so, beforewe wrap up, I just want to share

(05:19):
with you that, being aneducator, always an educator, I
loved teaching my students thelast 17 years when I taught, and
I also loved to share a bit ofmy culture and learn about other
cultures as well.
So, by creating these lessonplans, I've taken the stress and

(05:45):
the stuckness of what am Igoing to teach if I have a sub?
How do I have an impactfullesson that can just infuse into
what we're already learning?
All of that has been taken anddone for you.
So head over to that website.
You're going to see over 70lesson plans, three unit plans
and darling.
I am still creating more, so Icannot wait to drop more

(06:09):

my dear, in this educationalspace.
So before we go, I want tochallenge you to take one small
step toward a more inclusiveclassroom.
Today, visit my shop, downloada lesson and see the difference

(06:29):
it makes in your teaching, and,if you love it, let me know.
I'd love to hear your feedbackand see how these resources are
working for you.
You might get a shout out in anew podcast episode that you
have listened all these yearsand you never know, you might
get a podcast shout out just bygiving me your feedback.

(06:52):
