Joku and Rosa review 'Nickel Boys' a 2024 American historical drama film based on the 2019 novel The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead. It was directed by RaMell Ross, who wrote the screenplay with Joslyn Barnes. We then review 'I Want to be Neenja: The Movie' a 2024 mistake of a film which I hope becomes lost media.

Like if you were to finger somebody do you thinkswollen fingers would feel better or worse?
Wait, wait, wait. Okay if I pulled up like aum a vagina labeling sheet would you be able
to tell me where the claris is? Yeah. What isthe claris? Oh lippies. You don't know what

(00:27):
clitoris is, wait what? I'm joking with you.Why is the clear is in? Give me one minute.
You don't know what the clear is in? Oh my godbro. It's a little peepee hole. No! Dude!

(01:25):
What's up Chao Minions! It's Joku on the mic.Rosa asked me earlier today, what did the rocks
whisper and it's and they said to me go withthe flow. And that is why I am here today to
spit straight ninja shurikens of truth rightinto your body. Ow! My body! Fuck! Ow! Wait

(01:56):
wait what does the Shuriken of Truth say?
The Shuriken of Truth tells me there's onlytwo genders. The one I have with your mom,
and the one I have with your dad. How's yourday going, Rosa? I feel like shit. I felt like

(02:22):
shit all week. Um... Call you the shitter. Theway you want to toilet. I felt like shit emotionally.
I felt like shit physically. Um, I don't...
This has been kind of a shit week, I will saythat. Yeah, like... Man, dude... If there was

(02:42):
a week where I was gonna kill myself, it wouldbe this.
What's up, I'm sorry but Rosa was a little upsetso me Broza is gonna take over Rosa's too depressed
to not talk in unironic terms, so they're gonnado a wacky character

(03:12):
Bro! Imagine if we were coal miners back in1905. Do you wanna talk about the movies? No!
I wanna talk about bitches, and more bitches!Okay, bro. POLLADINE! Would you hit that? She

(03:33):
said the N-word, right? But that acid comesfrom antiquity. I suppose. You get that vintage
booty? No, that shit priceless. Shit priceless? That's why you gotta eat it with a little bit
of respect. Put some butter on that thing! Oinkoink! Mmhmm.

(03:56):
Smoothull of butter makes my dick go down Thatis... Cause high cholesterol leads to uh...
Uh, ED I think That's- that might be a lie Idon't know Anyway, you wanna talk about that
movie that we watched? Yeah, we watched uh-Nick- You- you went into this actually Oh I

(04:16):
didn't write anything for this episode I waslike Don't have any notes. We're free ballin
Okay, well I'm just saying I'm free ballin todayI have no notes for any movies well, I'm naked
like waste down Only from the waste

(04:42):
Anyway, we watched 2024's Nickel Boys, directedby Rommel Ross. This is basically the story
of two guys who in 1950s, 60ish time period, two African-American boys go to a reformed

(05:03):
school. And we kind of see the torturous circumstancesthat they were subjugated to. Yeah. for context
of what these reform schools were like, thinkabout the American Indian slash Indigenous

(05:23):
reform schools throughout the US and Canada.Just sort of youth torture prisons. Just think
of Gitmo for kids. Yeah, I did watch a gooddocumentary from last year on that subject
about the
Yeah, very brutal watch, but very beautifulwatch. This film is a very interesting shooting

(05:48):
style being shot from a first person perspective, and it's very technically impressive. Yeah,
I feel like this is kind of like a gimmick thingthat you could attribute it to. Like it can
feel very gimmicky, but it really works forthe presentation in this movie and it doesn't
come off as a gimmick when watching it. Yeah. And it just it just it's a very beautiful looking

(06:16):
movie and I was just taken aback by Yeah, Ididn't go in with any expectations really I
know it got a bunch of Oscar nominations Andand given the Amelia Perez nominations, I didn't
know what to make of that I was like it couldbe awesome. It could be bad. It could be anything,

(06:37):
but I was I Was blown away with the movie. Itwas um It was really a very unexpected slam
dunk for me. I ain't seen any of the director'sprevious work This is his first movie that
would explain it Fantastic not really not reallyhe directed a movie called Hale Country this

(06:58):
morning this evening and Yeah First time watchingone of his films and it was really uniquely
shot. And the subject matter is really great. He sort of uses this reform school as a allegory

(07:18):
for white supremacy. And if you want to go furtherwith it, capitalism generally, where there's
no means of escaping these systems of oppressionfrom within, from within itself. Like, you
escape capitalism by pulling yourself up byyour bootstraps. You don't escape white supremacy

(07:44):
the Jay-Z way. You escape it by breaking therules and breaking out.
film that's been done before but in this caseit's done in such an interesting way being
based on real history and a real quote unquotereform school and yes it's really great I yeah

(08:09):
this is based off of the book of the same nameI bought the book after watching it because
I was really moved by the movie which I thinkthat's just like a testament to like a good
film adaptation you want to compare I don'tknow yeah I have yet to read the book because

(08:31):
I've just been busy with other things but Ido plan to get at it at some point
it's on my list I have some stuff I want toget through before it but I'm definitely gonna
be buying the book It's also like a recent booktoo. Yeah. It's come out like I think 19...

(08:52):
2019? If I remember correctly? Yeah. I reallylike what represents... um... for... it's being
nominated to the Oscars in particular. Becausethis really does feel like a earnest, true-to-life
black story that isn't designed to um... like, coddled white people, or anything like that,

(09:15):
really. It's a story from black people, forblack people, and I do really appreciate that
about it. And it's a portrayal of that timeperiod. Yeah. I would agree. The set design.
and the costume design, in my opinion, wenta super far away, along with the shooting perspective,

(09:40):
to make it feel like you're really in that timeand place. Yeah. But I do have a criticism
about like how it does it sometimes. So withmovies that are kind of timepieces, usually
they put like news headlines to kind of be like,

(10:03):
is what years you're on but we started the moviewith like talking about space and I assumed
like the vibe was that we're landing on themoon so like 1996 but we're not it was like
earlier than that you know 1968 1969 it's likea year different You said 1996. I meant to

(10:28):
say 1969. I'm sorry. It's OK. I get the datewrong by accident. But like it kind of like
it like it just didn't like work for me. Themost effective. It wasn't the most like cohesive,
like picture to paint, like what time periodyou are in. Oh, yeah. And the person that I

(10:52):
was seeing it with also. felt the same way aboutthat they thought the exact same thing when
seeing that scene. I ain't really have thatissue. I saw it, not a great movie to watch
to get in the mood for porn by the way.

(11:14):
Speaking from experience for all the peopleout there wondering, but it... I think it established
the time and place very well in my mind. Yeah.Just like news headlines like that made it
hard. I disagree, but in the sense that like, like these are like teenagers. So like if you

(11:40):
put the wrong news headline, you're implyingthat multiple years are passing. Yes, but like
I was coming in with. knowing that the specificevent within the space race took place way
earlier than our landing. Yeah, I figured, butit kind of had an implication, I felt is the

(12:04):
point that I'm saying. Yeah, I think that theycould have picked a better headline, but then...
Yeah, and there's multiple headlines throughoutthe film that are like that, I would say. Um...
I don't know about- I don't know if I fullyagree, but my- my bigger criticism of it would
be... The way that they use this first-personstyle they do this thing where when we're switching

(12:29):
perspectives They repeat a scene and it feltunnecessary to me. I found it to be fine Like
I think it worked for the context. Are you talkingabout the first one? Yeah, I felt like that
was fine because it was the first time thatthey're doing it If they didn't do it for other
times, but like if they didn't do it, you wouldn'tknow, you know I get that like a very lengthy

(12:55):
way of going about doing it in my opinion. Imean I was fine with it if you're gonna switch
bodies and switch POVs I would like need a setupI feel and I think that's fine. I just don't
think it was the most effective way. I thoughtit was because it was their first interaction
together like proper and I think it was fine.I looked over at my notes and my notes just

(13:21):
say what up chow minions. That's not the rightmovie I think you're on the wrong movie, bro
I'm on the wrong movie. I don't remember thewhite teachers going what up chow minions.
It was the Asian teachers Oh, yeah, um, whatwas your favorite part of it? Um You have one
in mind while I think about this? Um, okay. This is a heavy one, but the whipping scene,

(13:46):
the way that they use, um, the sound designwas also really good. The sound design was
fantastic in this movie, but they use a, um,a, a sonar map of under the ground of this
reform school where bodies are hidden. And that'srevealed later on. It's used in a really cool

(14:07):
and effective and interesting way. the whippingscene you don't see any whipping it's just
sound design and then a close-up of this mapshows up on screen i thought that was really
cool my favorite scene was the bar scene thatwas also a super very powerful very good um

(14:27):
yeah really good communication of um like Meetingsomeone that you who is also involved in traumatic
event with you at like years after the factand sort of having to relive it Yeah, to an
extent Reconnect with it as well. Yeah. Yeah,I really enjoyed it. Yeah, I did too. Um, the

(14:51):
acting was really good um Not all these actorsare not in a lot of movies. So I hope that
they get more roles because they did a reallygood job Yeah, yeah It was um one of the most
unexpected Fantastic movies of the year forme at least Yeah, I really like this a lot

(15:16):
for sure. Um, you want to rank it or do youwant to keep talking about it some more? Um,
I want to rank it but I forgot to
I'm feeling a 12 out of 15 on this movie Wouldyou fuck a firefox? I'm also I'm also feeling

(15:39):
a 12 so that's a 24. That's how math work. Thatis I think wait. That's how math works Wow,
that's incredible. Yeah, it's like that mathis awesome If you love math, leave a comment
that says math is awesome! Okay. Ummm

(16:22):
You recommended a movie for us, Rosa. Oh no,she's gonna sing. June the 21st. of 2024 is
a date which will be held in infamy. It wasthe great father of communism, Karl Marx, who
remarked in 1863 that, quote, only your small-mindedGerman Philistine, who measures world history

(16:48):
by the eel and by what he happens to think areinteresting news items, could regard 20 years
as more than a day where major developmentsof this kind are concerned. Though succeeded
by days and went on to which 20 years are compressed.Such a two-score advancement of the artistic

(17:10):
dialectic occurred on this infamous date ofJune the 21st. Such a date that marked the
Battle of Vitoria, the Boxer Rebellion, andeven the Supreme Court case that established
a legal definition of porn. was given importanceonly comparable to the 10 days that shook the
world, nay, the birth of Christ. This event, which all history will henceforth be denoted

(17:37):
in proximity to, was the release of JenniferMurphy Go Girl's I Want to Be Ninja, a modern
day Iliad defying labels such as documentary, movie, or even necessarily entertainment, featuring
captivating performances and the mysteriousartist only known and credited as Michael.

(18:02):
This triumph of human ingenuity, this manifestationof one woman's vision, is on its surface an
absurdist tale of the unending struggle of revolutionagainst reaction, Jennifer Murphy go-girl against
the nefarious

(18:26):
themes of struggle against hegemony, struggleagainst the past, and struggle against oneself.
It was my belief that no film better deservedthe supreme honor of being the hundredth film
reviewed on the show as no better film representsthe ideal of art itself. Without further ado,

(18:50):
the hundredth film we've reviewed. I... Whatto be ninja.
Say anything else? say something about my speech.Oh, it was a speech. Fuck you mean, oh, it

(19:14):
was a speech. That's what I'm, it's a speech.What do you think of ninja? That's like a,
dude, that's like a summary. I just think youhave sex with someone you don't know. Do you
want me to- Did you like the sex, babe? Andyou're like, Yeah, it was sex! Yeah, that's
what I would reply with. That's true. Do youwant me to give you like an applause? A clap?

(19:36):
I don't know, just some sort of recognition.Okay, I'll give you a clap. Oh, what do you
think about I Want To Be Ninja? I'm not sureif it's the worst movie I've ever seen, but
it was definitely the worst movie I've everseen from this year. Wow. Um. That's great.
Jennifer Murphy at first glance might look likea deflating sex doll. However, that's not true.

(20:01):
She's actually a racist, slowly deflating sexdoll. Yeah. You can ask me what I thought about
this movie. What do you think about it? Um,I was such a bitch whenever you recommended
this movie. Yes, but I watched it and I absolutelyloved it. It was incredible I've never seen
a better movie dude. I was laughing the wholething dude. You were so wrong about the last

(20:27):
30 minutes, bro Rosa was telling me the last30 minutes were terrible, but I was losing
my mind in the last 30 minutes. Dude, this thingwas a masterpiece and like it's so incredible.
Holy shit. This is incredible, Rosa. I was playingout. No, it's the funniest fucking shit I've
ever seen in my entire fucking life. It's sofunny. This is like funnier than the room.

(20:50):
It's not even close. Dude, I was expecting thisto be like the most boring shit ever, but like
I don't know how they made it so bad, but likeso awesome. It is the best, so bad it's good
movie I've ever watched. I don't I don't know. But like it made me sad. It actually like made
me sad. What about that was like people likeget to this like somewhat sense of like delusion.

(21:19):
Yeah, and it just like reminded me of like acool cat and shit like that And I'm like yeah
these people are never gonna realize they'restuck in their bubble And it just makes me
sad so let me let me this film has a lore thisfilm has a lore so a few years ago a incredibly
racist song by a Right a white woman sellingbeds came out called I want to be ninja. It

(21:48):
went viral because of the fact that she's sayinglike, I'm only doing this because this is how
it goes. I want to be ninja. She says, I wantto be ninja. Got to chop, chop her down. Take
Chow down to Chinatown. So racist, so fuckingracist. Horrible. Really awesome. Horribly

(22:12):
amazing. Yeah, best racist I've ever seen. Um,and this movie... Fuck, it's star time. Well,
better go eat dinner.
Bro, say E.T. Daner. Bro, bro, fight the power!

(22:32):
I'm back. Alright. Okay. What was I saying?I don't remember. Yeah, so this movie is capitalizing
off of this... I don't even want to say memebecause it was just a viral YouTube video.
It wasn't like a big deal. You know what I mean?Dude. Did you not see the video? Joe Rogan

(22:54):
was talking about this movie or this video.Yeah, I get that. Except like a bunch of other
podcasts like us, dude, if they make us people,we're going to be in the podcast. Oh, that's
true. OK. In the movie. Sorry. So this movieis like two thirds like this weird bootleg

(23:16):
superhero movie. I don't know what this thingis where it's Jennifer Murphy. like running
around in a costume choking her chihuahua withthat fucking helmet um chasing around chow
who's awesome by the way we'll get to him alittle bit yeah and the other third is like

(23:37):
a documentary about her life and why she's notracist she isn't racist yeah this movie's like
a weird pr statement and like a weird puff piecefor her. She's just like the world's most narcissistic
bitch. This movie, I'm not kidding. Do you wantto explain how this movie starts? What are

(23:58):
you doing? Playing Destiny while you were...Oh, I'll let you finish. It's gonna take like
10 minutes. Roads, roads, like the power. Yeah, can you describe how this film opens? Because
it's crazy. I've seen the opening of this moviethree times. I did. What? How does this movie

(24:19):
even open? Like, isn't it her talking? It'sher talking about, like, her going homeless
and her divorcing her husband? And meeting DonaldTrump. Yeah. So this movie opens up with, like,
this weird mistranslated intro, where it's like, many people think ninja come from Japan. But

(24:44):
ninja come from China. Like weird movie trailervoice. And then there's like stock footage
of ninjas in the Great Wall of China. And thenit cuts to a black screen with white aerial
text on it that says chapter one. And that'slike a weird sit down documentary, TV documentary

(25:07):
style thing where it's just talking into a camera. And Jeff or Murphy Go Girl says, tells about
how she won Miss Oregon, made top 10 in MissUSA, met Donald Trump, went on The Apprentice,
was married to her husband for one year beforehe divorced her. She lies and said that she

(25:33):
got a divorce in 2008 and it led to financialstruggles. It didn't. She was left by that
guy in 2007. Did you need a deep dive on thisgirl? Yeah. And then it cuts to her talking
to some Chinese, no, Japanese guy that nevercomes up again, asking him to build her a Katana.

(25:55):
He says, wait till one year. And it never comesup again. It never comes up again. There's
a lot of this movie is insane in the sense thatlike, I don't know what I'm watching. Roads,
roads, fight the power!

(26:18):
I did. What was that? I did. God fucking damnit. I'm not doing anything like real. I can
just stop at any time. Can you quit out? No.I'm trying to go to a spot so I can just kind
of have the game on and just look at stuff, but there's no good spots. I'm sorry. Bro,
what? Leaving again. It's all good. Okay, whatwere you talking about? I don't know, bro.

(26:44):
Fucking damn it. Ninja? Talking about the intro.Yeah. How do you feel about this intro? This
movie was a mess. Like the sound was terrible. This movie sounded awful. This movie looked
awful. The movie's like putting every five seconds.I feel like I'm in Bohemian Rhapsody again.

(27:06):
Yeah. Immediately after this, it cuts to a kidbuying a comic book. which is the I want to
be ninja comic book because the ninja parts,I feel so weird saying ninja cause they like
write it out in a way to where you have to doa racist accent to say the name of the movie.

(27:31):
Ninja. Or you could just go ninja. No, knee, cause it's a knee, knee. Yeah, it's EE. Yeah.
The kid. By the way, there's Frank Ocean's Blondein the background of it for like a minute.
Like the album you can see on screen for a minute, which is awesome. Yeah. But the, uh, the kid

(27:56):
buys a, I want to be ninja comic book, whichis how, which they keep like cutting to. Cause
it also tells the story of the movie, but itdoesn't make any sense. It's like a weird plot
device that doesn't matter. The kid's name Preston,by the way. Yeah. Not important. Doesn't matter.
Um, and then cuts off to the nefarious Chow, who is Asian. And just so you're reminded that

(28:22):
you're Asian, his symbol is a yellow C, um,with two chopsticks behind it. It's awesome,
bro. It's so cool. I wonder why they pick yellow.Cause black and yellow look good together.
Yellow and black mix up a little. Oh, sorry.Yellow and black look good together.

(28:46):
Yeah, um, hi. Chow is my favorite part of themovie. He's. I, Chow is fine. I, he kind of
lost. I kind of did not care about Chow. I thought.Janet McCarthy looked so great in this movie.
And I. Jeanette McCarthy? Jennifer Murphy? Yeah.Would you fuck Jennifer Murphy? Yes or no?

(29:09):
No one has to know. Except for the billionsof people listening. Come back next week and
you'll find out. Come back next week and I'llbe pregnant with her baby. Yeah. Would you...
Bro, would you let Jeff or Murphy go breed yourough? Yes or no? Drop a comment! I don't like

(29:34):
your alters. Yeah, my al... Yeah, I have DID.My two pillars are... No, I've got three pillars.
Evil Rosa. who made an appearance in the beginningin a segment that was cut out Is that just
depressed Rosa? No, that's just the real meThe real me, yeah, the real me like off air

(29:55):
me is evil Rosa who's just depressed and likewants to die Annihilist? Fucking die Dude,
shut up Shut the fuck up Anni- Shut up No, I'mnot an nihilist. I am. I am an egoist. I'm

(30:17):
not a nihilist. I was joking with you, bro.I know. Take it so seriously. You're fucked
up. Well, cause I'm talking about my mentalillness that I just made up. Um, evil Rosa,
um, Rosa composting who you're hearing rightnow. And then Broza, my, my other dastardly

(30:37):
persona. Um, those are the three pillars. ofmy twisted mind. The fuck are you looking at?
My phone dipshit. I'm sorry that I don't wantto hear about your fucking sad pathetic life.

(30:59):
Lock in at the okay. Can we at least agree thatyou have a better life than fucking Janet McCarthy
over here? He's Jennifer Murphy. Okay, the bitis that I'm saying the name wrong and you're
ruining it Yeah, Jeanette McCarthy is um Youhave a better life than her at least you're
not making I want to be ninja that movie. YeahThis feels like a con like Like how does she

(31:29):
have so many people on board for this shit?It really just feels like Like the tagline
for this movie on Amazon is the greatest songever Recorded is now a movie. That's a fucking
lie What? Jumping jack flash, that's true Lineon letterbox for jumping Jack Flash. I don't

(31:55):
know. Oh, I want to be ninja. There is none.I hate the Chinese is the tagline. I love that
Janet McCarthy was also in Dumbbells. Yeah,by the way, this film has a varying aspect
ratio because there was zero consistency. Isthat her ass on my screen right now? Hooga,
hooga. No, that's just the movie Dumbbells.Hooga, hooga. Oh, hooga. Yeah, there's constant

(32:23):
grammar problems, by the way. The audio mixingis horrible. When you meet Chow, it's only
the first scenes that he's in, it's only throughthe left ear. Which is a really cinematic choice.
There's a lot of cinema in this movie on displayhere. By the way, the movie calls itself a

(32:46):
YouTube style movie, which is a new genre. Ithink the YouTube style movie is a great descriptor
for a lot of bullshit out there. Like, People'sJoker. If you- yeah, it's like People's Joker
but from a cis woman who's racist. If you thinkabout it, this is like People's Joker but just-

(33:09):
But right wing. Yeah, it's the right wing People'sJoker. But not the normal Joker. The Joker
in this case is still a woman, but a cis woman.Yeah. Dude, I don't even know what to like
say on this movie. No, I've got so much to say.I watched it twice. I didn't log it the second
time. I need to do that. So everyone knows thatI watched this movie two times. Wow. You're

(33:34):
so brave. The first scene where we have Chow, the nefarious Asian ninja. But he's even a
ninja. I he's just an Asian guy with a weedneck tattoo. This movie just makes no sense.
I like I just- He has a finger tat that saysPuff Daddy. He's played by Lambo Lee, who posts-

(33:58):
who is like- who's an Instagram influencer,quote-unquote, who like posts photos of himself
as like the Joker. And it's awesome. Um, yeah,so the first scene with him, you see as a lair,

(34:19):
which is just some random house, except he haslike chow logos all over it, which like I said
is a yellow sea with chopsticks in the background.Um, the film was made this year, last year
by the way. Um, and he, you see him plug hismerch. Which is real merch that you can buy,

(34:41):
so it's really just an ad for one of many adsin this movie. This movie is like 10 ad breaks
in. This movie feels like a Tim and Eric sketch. It did. But like, it keeps going and going.
My favorite ad was the knife ad. Well, dude, the knife ad's awesome because there's no reason
for it. Um, we'll get to that. Oh my god. Butyou see him plug his merch. For some fucking

(35:08):
reason is Evil Layer. There's like, to his leftis a weird stock market chart that says Chow's
Greed fucking Greed Monitor or whatever thefuck. And then to his right is a like, Conspiracy
Theory Board that says Project End Smiles onit. And there's Chow's Gaming Station, which

(35:34):
he sits down at. He starts plugging his hatand with some of the loudest, most distorted
audio he ever- in this entire movie, he saysWHAT UP CHOW MINIONS IT'S YA BOY WITH THE SNAPBACK
What are you doing? I'm in pain, bro. Okay.I don't wanna talk about this movie. This movie

(36:00):
is taking everything out of me. Yeah, I don'twant to like go through the whole movie. No,
I see this is like my favorite one of my favoritescenes. The egos to start gaming and then he
sees Jeff or Murphy go girl driving around inyour power wheels car. Grown ass woman. She's

(36:23):
like there are so many layers to how sad thismovie is and how pathetic like all of it is,
and it just makes me sad. Yeah. and he says, ooo she thinks she has resources? Let me show
you resources, and he pulls out a fucking pipebomb and starts making a realistic looking
pipe bomb. It's not that realistic.

(36:50):
Bro, I don't know who this- who is this moviefor? Other than Jennifer- it's for Jennifer
Murphy, Go Girl. Dude, it's like the- it's likea View movie. Like I'd want- like I feel like
I'd see like the people on the View talkingabout this movie. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it
was talked about in the Adam Carolla show. Um...Yeah. Not the Adam Freeland show. Not to be

(37:11):
confused with the much better Adam Freelandshow. Which Nick Mullen left, and I wish him
the best. I hope he's successful in his futureendeavors. Um... Okay, and? Whatever. Uh, by
the way, half of this- this movie's mixed media,by the way. Do you wanna talk about this animation
work? Dude, the- Which is made to look likea mobile game that doesn't exist. A mobile

(37:33):
game doesn't exist? What? The animation lookslike a mobile game, but it's not a real mobile
game. It looks like Scribblenauts. I wish itwere a real mobile game. What the fuck am I
doing with my life, bro? I- Dude, I could belike, I want to be ninja. Content creator.
Yeah, no It in this movie shows her fightingFucking chow for a while her face gets cummed

(38:00):
on by a bomb That is true it does get cummedon by a bomb There's no other way of really
described that Then it like cuts over to inthe middle of this movie her explaining how
she's not racist because she has an Asian friendwhich are real words that she says in this

(38:23):
movie It cuts to a fight of her fighting herAsian friend with oriental chimes in the background
Her friend spanks her big juicy ass with a katanawhich I didn't need to see Do you want to talk

(38:45):
about this film's score? Wait... I might havefound the mobile game. There is a mobile game?
Yeah. I'm looking for it. Do you want to talkabout this movie's score? Uh, yeah, what do
I say about it? It's there's like seven coversof I want to be ninja. There's a chorus version.

(39:10):
There is a EDM remix. There's a rap version.There's a bunch of versions. I can't hear you.
The Momo was called I want friends. Wait, no,I want it's called Bad Friends Ninja Game.
That's awesome. Um, but my favorite song inthis is Chow's theme song, which includes the

(39:38):
lyrics. Um, the game was released in 2021. I'ma bad DJ gamer. What do you think of the fairy
twinkle twin who's a character in this movie?I don't know, bro. I literally do not know.
I told about the bald perverted male stripperwho does like jiggles around on screen. This

(40:05):
movie goes in the strangest way. I don't evenknow what to say about this game. This movie,
sorry. Like it's there's so much just randomnessto it. There's like so much there's so many
layers to it. I like, I don't even know whatI'm supposed to fucking say. She goes to China
to quote, meditate with the ancient Buddha ofAsia. Those are words that she says. She says,

(40:30):
I am going to China to meditate with the Asian, with the ancient Buddha of Asia.
Sorry, I was doing, uh, I was mimicking thismovie's audio quality where they peek the mic
like 20 times. Um, audio is like, from what-audio is the terrible in this movie, like I-

(40:53):
I don't know what to say. I literally do notknow what to say. There's my favorite part
of the movie. The part where she talks aboutcancel culture and wokeness, um, and podcasters
attacking her for being racist. She plays abunch of clips from, um, random podcasts that
called her racist, um, and- and then complainsthat her Murphy bed contract didn't- uh, she

(41:23):
got fired from being a bed saleswoman becauseof the fact that she created the song I Want
to Be Ninja to sell beds. I'd rather watch themovie again than like describe this movie.
Like I don't know what to say. Then she shows, then she shows um, Elon Musk, like a clip of

(41:45):
Elon Musk complaining about wokeness for somereason. Um, then she tells a story about how
she got stranded at sea, DJ Khaled style. Itwas rafting, it wasn't even at sea. Yeah. And
then the rocks whispered to her, go with theflow. Yeah. And that's revealed that Chow was

(42:07):
like a gay Asian orphan who got bullied forhis gay fucking unicorn plushie. And that's
why he's by an evil Latinx child. Then it cutsback to Geoffrey Murphy, who is blue teeth
now for some reason. And that's the fuckingmovie. Oh, you want to score this thing? I
don't know, dude. I'd rather rewatch it. I'dlike I'd say go watch this thing. I bought

(42:31):
this thing twice because I bought it originallyto watch it earlier in the week. And then I
just forgot to watch it and it expired. Youyelled at me about picking this movie. Like
I did not want to watch it like this movie wasfunny watching it, but I do not need to talk
about this movie in length or like look at thatmovie. Do you think it's the worst movie you've

(42:53):
seen for the show? No. Really? What's worsethan that? Girl finds out she's adopted. I
think it's probably the third worst. I hit thebreak it too. You ready to score this thing?
I'm going to give it a point five. I'm givingthis thing a three. Really? I'm giving it a
one. This is getting a three. A three. It'sgetting a three. Why? No, no, no. Explain.

(43:19):
Explain why. Why is this a 3? Watching thismovie was so fucking insane that like it was
like turning into like something so good AndI just really like was loving it And then I
also didn't want to put this below Argyle Ithink- You think that Argyle is a worse movie
than I Want To Be Ninja Yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah,I'm flabbergasted I hate Argyle. I would never

(43:49):
wish Argyle on my worst enemy. I'd rather watchI Want to be Ninja five times than watch Argyle
one. Dude, this is going... This is the hundredthmovie that we've reviewed. So happy a hundred.
Um, 3.5. I guess that puts it between fuckingCyber Seduction and Fred the movie. Yeah, this

(44:09):
thing. It's a... I think it's a one. I thinkit's a nice one out of ten. I know we do a
15 scale Rosa, but yeah, one out of five. Youwant to have five? Sorry. I can't believe they.
Wow. That's insane. It's on the same level.I mean, I guess technically it should be a
half a point, but like, I don't know, bro. Idon't know what to tell you. It is. Maybe I'll

(44:35):
change my mind on it at some point or another. You're crazy. I can't believe I'm flabbergasted.
Yeah. What up, Chow minions? Anyway, we havea new segment here where we talk about albums.
We're going to try this, see how it goes. Yeah,we recommended albums for each other to listen

(44:56):
to last week. I recommended a album from theduo Sweet Trip, Velocity Design Comfort. Rosa,
what did you recommend me? I recommended PryceAndrews is Karma. Yeah. And we'll start with
Whichever one you want to start with. Uh, I'llstart with um, Velocity Design Comfort. I want

(45:22):
to make sure I got the order right. Dude, theorder is interchangeable to me, but I completely
understand. Yeah, this is one of the most importantalbums of the IDM and Glitchpop movements.
IDM is Intelligent Dance Music. Think Groupslike Apex Twin. Um... IDM is not really my

(45:44):
thing. And this album I have mixed feelingson. I really enjoy the... how textural it is.
It's a really beautiful album in terms of thesoundscapes. And I really do think that I would
enjoy this film. I mean, this album. That'sa movie. This album. If I was on Shroom's.

(46:11):
That's something I definitely want to do, butreally beautiful sounding album Through some
nice open back headphones got a nice wide mixon it that I can really appreciate But it a
lot of it felt too Like EDM drum and bassy Forfor my tastes for my boomer tastes But I felt

(46:42):
it to be very like, um, stripped back in a sense, comparatively, like from what you see now,
this, it feels very like modern in a sense.I don't think that's like a great word to describe
it, but I, I do think this is a very modernalbum in like the time it was released along
with like the sounds that are heard on thisalbum. Yeah. Um, a lot of the songs. Do blend

(47:10):
together a bit for me? Yeah Dude part of that'sdue to a lack of a familiarity with the genre
like if I like I would totally Get someone sayingthat about even a really good jazz record or
a good metal record if they're not familiarwith that genre I'm not really super familiar
with electronic, but I do like the use of vocalsand Guitar particularly on this and the eclectic

(47:43):
and eccentric things that they pull from onthe project, from like shoe gaze to even some
like black gaze sounding guitars on this thing.I particularly like the song velocity and the
song disco quite a bit. Yeah, this is a verylow-key album for me in the sense that like

(48:08):
If I'm just trying to relax, this thing is goingon. It's a good recording album for me, at
least. It is just it's simple. Yeah. It's it'smore so about the textures and the ambiance

(48:28):
of the whole thing rather than like chops orsong structure, things like that. in a way
that I thought to be quite engaging. Even ifa lot of it could be a bit, mean a bit on the
grading side sometimes, as do a lot of IDM andEDM type projects for me. But that's just me,

(49:00):
personally. This thing is a large product. Itclocks in an hour and 13 minutes. Yeah. Each
song is like about 7-8 minutes. Yeah. But Istill, I love this project. I like it quite
a bit. It definitely reminds me of other projectslike Interpool or um, I'm forgetting the other

(49:24):
project. But yeah, stuff kind of in that samevein as Interpool. And um... What is the other
band that I'm looking for? I can't rememberit, but yeah. Yeah, it's definitely something
we need to go back and listen to. This is kindof the first impression type thing, because

(49:49):
big project, you know. But I would say I enjoyedmy listen, even if IDM isn't really my thing.
I would say it's still not really my thing, but. I liked it. I liked the textures. I thought
the The production on it was super impressive.A lot of it reminded me its best parts it reminded

(50:14):
me a bit of JPEG mafia Type shit Which is cool.Yeah, my favorite tracks off of this album
are fruitcake and cookies and chocolate matter.Nice Yeah, you have anything you want to say?
Yeah, I'm going to give this album a B minus.I'm not doing scores, so yeah. OK, only I'll

(50:43):
be scoring. I'll score the arms on a gradingscale, I guess. Wow. Consistency. Rosa picked
an album for me to listen to. Yes, I pickedyou. I picked. They picked me, Farah Sanders,
Karma from 1969. And I really liked this project. This project, like, I'm not a big jazz head

(51:13):
like Rosa, but I do appreciate jazz. And I reallyliked this project. This has so many ranges
that it goes through and it's 30 minute runtimefor one of the songs, the other being a five
minute song. Yeah. But I really love this project.Um, yeah. Um, that, that 30 minute, um, uh,

(51:38):
opening song on this is one of, in my opinion, arguably, like one of, if not the greatest
song of all time. It's called, um, the creatoris a master plan. Um, it's so tranquil. Like
it's very spiritual and like, yeah. The connectionthat I have with it in a sense. Not that I

(52:02):
have like any special connection, but like itfeels very tranquil when listening to it. Yeah.
That track like demands your full attention. It's almost like a ritualistic experience listening
to it for me. It transports you. What did youlike about that opening? The the range that

(52:24):
it goes through, the way the instruments areplayed in the Arrangements of it are just spectacular,
to say the least. There's yodeling. There isthe yodeling. Yeah, Pharaoh Sanders is one
of the like forefathers of modern experimentalmusic. And man, yeah, it feels like you're

(52:47):
going on a journey. I will say that. Yeah, strange, dark, bright trip. There's so many different
moments to this. Yeah, it's. It's a song abouthis connection to God and to spirituality.
It's a this album kicked off what's called thespiritual jazz movement. It was. It was spiritual.

(53:14):
Yeah, no, it is spiritual. I mean, that's howit's described. I didn't do any research. Yeah.
But like, obviously, only if you're it's legalin your area and you're an adult. Take some
psilocybin, put this shit on, you will be transportedto another dimension. Yeah, in a way that no

(53:40):
other album really does for me. Yeah. What didyou think about colors, the second track? I
liked it. It feels like so, it's so weird thepairing of these songs. You have like a giant
32 song. 32 minutes long and then you have likethis five minute dinky song in the sense. It's

(54:00):
not really dinky, but the energy is so likecalm. The the vocal vocals are like very mystic
in a sense. Like I really just like it's verywarming. Yeah, it feels to me like the. The

(54:23):
first track is like the spiritual ascensionand the second track is like... The coming
back, the coming down of it. Coming down ormaybe just like, just existing in that new
spiritual plane that you ascended to. Um, inlike heaven or whatever. And I think it's really
cool. Yeah, this is a really cool project thatI don't know if I would have known about if

(54:47):
it weren't for you little miss Rosa. And I'mvery grateful. for you recommending this. I'm
glad that you liked it. I wasn't sure if youwould, because- I like jazz. I like a lot of
genres. I- Yeah. If- I'm- I like a lot of genres, that's all I can really say. Yeah, I would

(55:11):
say like, I can pretty much name an artist thatI like from every single genre except for stuff
like EDM, which I'm glad you showed me. Alrightwhat about horrorcore? Go. Fuck you, I'm not
saying it. I'm not, I'm not. Say him, say him.Say the S word. Or you could say the B chord.

(55:32):
I'm not saying cementary. I'm not at all. Oryou could say barbed wire Barbie. No, no. If
you had to pick one, who would you pick? Barbedwire Barbie is just a way of finding your answer
because her pillars help write the songs, bythe way. OK, her what? Her pillars, her altars.
Oh, yeah. OK. Anything else we want to say aboutkarma? A double plus for me on this. You could

(55:59):
say an S tier. Is it not an S tier? Oh, as Iwas thinking, like teacher grades, this is
an ass. Anyway. Yeah. Anything else you wantto say this episode? I like this little segment.
Can we do another one? Yeah, we'll talk aboutit. I recommend movies next week. Okay cool.
Or uh, albums next week. Cause I have a funkalbum I think that you'd like. You ever listen

(56:23):
to any funk? Probably I'm... I dunno. You'refunky lil hoe. Thank you. Um. Do we have any
questions or anything? Or do we? Yes, we do.By the way, if people ask us a bad question,
and where one we start doing is I'm going togo to their profile and like insult them on

(56:45):
a personal level or ban or just block them.OK. If you can move to any city in the world
from Gateway Gearhead. If you can move to anycity in the world, where would you go and why?
And would that say reflect your political viewsin any way? That's a great question. I would
move to Amsterdam because it has good transhealth care, along with I like public transport,

(57:09):
and it's very accessible since I do not drive.I'm no driver. I'm a I'm driverless. I'm a
passenger princess. But yeah, and it's alsojust a very nice place. And I like cold things.
So there's a lot of reasons. Yeah. It's alsojust a beautiful looking city. It's kind of
a generic choice, but Paris, Paris is... Paris,France! Paris! You watched La Hayne and you

(57:33):
were like, oh my god. I was like, I wanna livethere. I wanna live in that shit hole. I wanna
get killed by a fucking cop in Paris. Yeah.Um... Uh, yeah, I love Paris a lot. Um, less
generic answer, uh, Barcelona. Barbed wire barbings?Um, I mean, I guess, I guess you could argue

(57:58):
that Paris reflects my political views in thesense that was the first semi, the first semi-successful
communist revolution ever happened in Paris.Um... Which is cool, but other than that. Any
other questions? Um, how are you Ms. Cum posting?I am mixed. How about you? Fine. Next question.

(58:24):
What's your favorite species of fish? That'smore of a you question. It's more of a wow.
I like the blind cave fish that like just neversee daylight. And they're like just like very
strange creatures. That's a good question. Oh,I like this question. No, actually, I don't
like this question. Anything else? What madeyou decide to make a film podcast? Rosa asked

(58:48):
me and I said, sure. Um bonus if you are stillin the us any prepping measures you've been
taking in my no, no No, i've not um anythingelse. What are you thinking? My kiddy sisyphus?
It's on the screen now cute cat Uh cute cat.All right. Um, that's it Um, anyway, uh, I

(59:08):
have a movie to recommend Uh, I have this moviefrom 1998 Directed by warren bd betty um called
Bullworth. I want you to look at the posterfor this thing cause I absolutely love this
poster. Another poster pick. But this has beenone that I've wanted to recommend for a while.

(59:30):
I'll send. Is it like two L's or one L? Here,I'll just, I'll send it to you. Thank you.
I just see the fucking Ellis Mark video I linkedin our DMs. What the fuck? It's such a cool
looking poster and I love it. I- there- dude,I don't think that cool is a very descriptive
or, um, appropriate word to describe whateverthe fuck is going on. So, we'll talk about

(59:56):
this movie, uh, look- Rosa put it up on screen.Any other movies we're talking about next week?
Um... Um, we, oh yeah, yeah. Uh, wait, it'son the calendar. Google calendar, Google. No,
it's my proton calendar. Wait. Yeah. The protoncalendar has it synced. I'll let the proton
calendar load. Uh, uh, um, no, where the fuckis it? What movies are we talking about, Rosa?

(01:00:23):
Um, we're doing, uh, the Wolf, Wolfman and Dogman.Wolfman and Dogman next week. Check us out.
Uh, we'll see you then. Yeah. Bye. Hey, thanksfor watching. It's what? Oh, oh, yes. Yes.
Anyway, thanks for joining us on this littletrip. We are posting. I forgot the thing. What

(01:00:45):
was it? Thanks for coming on this journey. I'mtrying to... Yeah, yeah, I know. I know. Thanks
for coming on this little journey with us. I'mthe Jackie Chan movie Rush Hour. And I'm Hard...
boiled and we're calling. Oh, stay. But up
