Speaker 0 (00:02):
Real transformation isn't about doing more.
It's actually about doing lessLess of the things that your
younger self put in place toprotect you, get praise and
receive love.
Welcome to the great unraveling, the great unraveling of
midlife.
What a ride it has been the ups, the downs, the wake-up calls,

(00:28):
the epiphanies.
At this point it just feelsendless.
I thought I would be done bynow, but I'm not even close.
I've recorded several episodeson so many topics that have to
do with this and have either putthem to the side or erase them,
because I listen back to it andI think, mm.

(00:52):
Mm-mm.
This is.
I am not through this one yet.
I should not be speaking onthis topic, but the one thing
that I do feel really goodspeaking about is this whole
thing about doing less of thosethings that your younger self
put in place to protect you, toget praise, to receive love.

(01:15):
I believe that writing, journaling, however you like to
do it I think that that is oneof the most effective ways to
parse out what you're reallyfeeling.
When this ache or this whisperappears to you and you start
thinking, hmm, something feelsoff If I write about it and I

(01:37):
dig further down into that, that's where I come up with the
real answer of what I'm feelinginside.
I write to discover what Ialready know inside of my body.
My body knows it, but it hasn'tmade its way up to its head yet
until I can get it onto thepaper.

(01:57):
And once I get it onto thepaper I understand it.
So this is one of my favoritewriting prompts so far in Sekha
Juwad's the Book of Alchemy.
This is the prompt.
Complete the sentence if youreally knew me, dot dot dot, if
you really knew me, and fillthat in.

(02:19):
You can write one or many ofthese statements.
I wrote pages and then sit withthem and you ask yourself what
would your life be like ifpeople knew these things about
you?
How would your circle offriends change?
How about your job?
And then so on, so on.

(02:41):
This is a really good way to getback to the center of you, who
you are, what matters to you, what your values are your values
?
Not the ones that people thinkyou should have, or that you
think you should have, or thatfit with the people around you.
What matters to you?
If people really, truly, knewyou, what would they know?

(03:04):
I'm considering reading my listoff in one of these episodes,
but I'm going to save that fornow.
You can either use it today orjust keep this writing prompt in
your back pocket for a day whenyou don't know what to do for
your project.
Carve out 20 minutes, sit downand write to discover what you

(03:26):
already know and, until nexttime, stay curious.
