When anxiety takes over, how do you trust God—especially when the outcome is uncertain?

In this episode of Curious for Christ, we’re unpacking five practical ways to walk by faith, not sight. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, afraid, or stuck trying to control what you can’t, this is your invitation to breathe, let go, and trust the One who sees the bigger picture.

Scriptures Mentioned:

  • 2 Corinthians 5:7
  • 1 Peter 5:7
  • Proverbs 3:5
  • Hebrews 13:5
  • Psalm 119:105
  • Isaiah 26:3
  • Psalm 46:10
  • Hebrews 11:1

5 Ways to Walk by Faith (Not Sight):

1. Be Honest with God

“Cast all your anxiety on Him…” – 1 Peter 5:7

Start by naming your fears. You don’t have to hide your struggles. Bring them into God’s presence—He cares.

2. Lean on His Promises, Not Your Perspective

“Trust in the Lord… and lean not on your own understanding.” – Proverbs 3:5

Anxiety grows when we try to figure it all out. Write down a promise from Scripture and hold it close.

3. Take the Next Right Step

“Your word is a lamp to my feet…” – Psalm 119:105

Faith isn’t about the full plan—it’s about the next obedient step. Just one is enough for today.

4. Stay in the Word

“You will keep in perfect peace…” – Isaiah 26:3

Five minutes in Scripture can re-center your soul. Open to Psalms. Reflect on who God is.

5. Let Go of the Outcome

“Be still and know…” – Psalm 46:10

Faith means trusting God’s goodness, even when life doesn’t go how you hoped. Surrender is strength.

Welcome to Curious for Christ.
Do you ever find yourself lying, awake at night wondering about
God's plan for your life?
Maybe you wake up with bigdreams, but feel unsure where to
start or what your next stepshould be.
If you're curious aboutexploring your faith and finding
purpose, then you've come to theright place.

(01:26):
Hi, I'm Alexandra.
I too felt lost and sure of thedirection my life was taking.
I yearned to understand mypurpose and have someone guide
me, but I kept telling myself Iwas too busy.
The timing wasn't right, and mylack of clarity prevented me
from being consistent until Ifound Christ.

(01:47):
He brought peace into my lifeand revealed the way to find
purpose by anchoring myself.
In him.
In this podcast, we'll journeytogether exploring the Bible to
gain a deeper understanding ofhim and cultivate your own
personal relationship withChrist.
So open up your Bible, put inthose earbuds and listen up

(02:08):
because God is speaking to you.
He's making everything new andyou don't wanna miss it.
Let's get started.
Second Corinthians five, verseseven says, for we walk by
faith, not by sight.

(02:30):
That verse is bold.
It's beautiful, but let's behonest, it's hard.
Most of us want clarity, control, and a plan that makes
sense.
But faith doesn't offer us amap.
It offers us a person.
God himself, and here's what Ifound.
The more we clinging to control, the more anxiety takes root.

(02:53):
But when we release the outcomeand begin to trust, even when we
can't see the road ahead, webegin to breathe again.
We begin to live.
And actually a quick realitycheck.
Anxiety disorders are the mostcommon mental health struggle in
the United States, especiallyfor women.
Nearly one in three willexperience one in their

(03:15):
lifetime.
And many more live in quiet, persistent worry every single
day.
But what if anxiety isn't justsomething to eliminate, but
something that reveals where weare carrying a burden?
We were never meant to bearalone.
Let's talk about how we canshift from fear to faith even
when nothing feels certain sofive ways to walk by faith.

(03:40):
Number one, get honest aboutanxiety.
One Peter five.
Seven says, cast all youranxiety on him because he cares
for you.
Faith doesn't mean pretending tobe strong.
It starts with getting real withyourself and with God.
Tell him, here's what I'mworried about.
Here's what I don't understand,or here's what it feels like.

(04:04):
Too much faith doesn't silenceyour emotions.
It invites them into God'spresence where healing can
begin, and also, let's thinkabout it.
Anxiety loses power when it'sbrought into the light.
So bring it to God, lean intoit.
Your emotions.

(04:24):
They don't define you, they'rejust emotions.
You have emotions, but you areGod's daughter.
So it's okay to look into thosefeelings, those emotions that
you have.
Number two, start with God'spromises, not your perspective.
Proverbs three, verse five says, trust in the Lord with all your
heart and lean not on your ownunderstanding.

(04:46):
Anxiety often whispers, you'reon your own.
You're not safe.
You can't handle this, but God'sword reminds us of something
better that we're not alone.
That we're carried, that we'reloved.
So try this.
Write down one promise of Godtoday and place it somewhere
visible.
Start with this one, Hebrews 13,verse five.

(05:07):
I'll never leave you or forsakeyou, so when your mind spins,
let his truth interrupt it.
Number three, take the nextright step.
Psalm one 19 verse 1 0 5 says, your word is a lab to my feet
and a light to my path.
You don't need a 10 year plan.
You just need the next obedientstep.

(05:29):
So ask, what's one thing I cando in Faith today?
Maybe it's opening your Bible, making a phone call, going for a
walk, saying yes or no.
And so think about it.
Faith is rarely flashy.
It's faithful.
Number four, stay anchored inscripture, Isaiah 26, verse
three says, you will keep inperfect peace.

(05:51):
Those whose minds are steadfastbecause they trust in you.
Even five minutes in God's wordcan anchor your anxious mind.
Start small, open to Psalms, read Hebrews 11, and ask, what
does this reveal about who Godis?
The more you fix your mind onhim, the less space anxiety has

(06:12):
to speak.
Peace comes not from having theanswers, but from knowing the
one who holds them.
Does that make sense?
And then number five, and that'sa big one, so we are gonna spend
a little time on this.
Let go of the outcome.
Psalm 46, verse 10 says, bestill and know that I am God.
This is where it gets real.

(06:33):
Letting go of the outcomedoesn't mean we stop caring.
It means we release the illusionthat we're in control of how it
has to go.
It's saying, God, I want yourwill more than my own.
And that's not easy, especiallywhen life hasn't turned out the
way you hoped.
So let's go even deeper.
Because you may be asking me,but what about disappointment?

(06:56):
What about when you've beendisappointed again and again?
What about the prayers thatseemed unanswered?
The dreams that didn't come topass, the hope that quietly
faded disappointment can be holyground because it reveals where
our faith may have been tiedmore to a result than to a

(07:16):
relationship.
So let me talk about the role ofdisappointment in trust.
Disappointment.
Doesn't say anything about whoyou are because again, your
identity is rooted in Christ.
You are God's daughter.
Disappointment reveals ourlimits.
It forces us to confront the gapbetween what we expected and

(07:39):
what God allowed, and in thatsacred space, we're faced with a
choice.
Will I let this disappointmentharden me or humble me?
Will I retreat from God or runto him?
Disappointment is not the enemyof faith.
It's often the furnace wherefaith is refined, and so if you

(07:59):
feel disappointment, you can beencouraged because God is
refining your face.
So there's an opportunity thereto dive deeper and find your
limits.
What is it that you expected?
So that you can be open to God'sgreater plan for you, but you
have to reach that limit.
You have to go there, and youdon't have to be afraid because
the spirit that we have in us isa spirit of power, not of

(08:22):
timidity of love and ofself-control so you may ask when
things never worked out before.
Why would I trust now?
Yeah, this is the question of aweary heart, and I've been
there, my friend, so I'm notsaying it's you and it's not me.
It's totally me And I need tohear this as well because that
those questions are the questionof a heart that tried, that

(08:44):
hoped that maybe even obeyed andeven still.
Ended up hurt.
So what's the difference now?
Why would it work now?
The difference is not again, inthe outcome.
The difference is in what orwho?
Your faith.
My faith is anchored in maybebefore my faith was in the
formula.

(09:05):
If I do this, then God will dothat.
But mature faith says even ifthings don't go the way I hoped,
you are still good.
Still faithful still with me,and I'm your daughter.
Hebrews 11 verse one.
So let's take a deeper look inhere now, faith is being sure of
what we hope for and certain ofwhat we do not see.

(09:27):
This verse isn't about beingcertain of the result.
It's about being confident inGod's character, even when the
outcome is still unseen.
That's why Abraham and Moses,Sarah and Joseph are remembered,
not because they always got whatthey wanted, but because they
trusted God himself.

(09:49):
They didn't anchor their faithin what would happen.
They anchored it in who he is.
So ask yourself gently, is myfaith rooted in God's character
or a desired outcome?
What disappointments might Godbe inviting me to surrender?
Can I let this be a doorway todeeper trust?

(10:09):
So to tonight, my friend, Iinvite you.
Before you fall asleep whisperthis prayer, God, I release what
I can't control.
Even when I don't understand theoutcome, I choose to trust who
you are.
Help me rest in you.
So that is it, my friend.
Let me repeat again, the fiveways to walk by faith.

(10:30):
Number one, get honest aboutyour anxiety.
Number two, start with God'spromises, not your perspective.
Number three, take the nextright step.
Number four, stay anchored inscripture.
And number five, let go of theoutcome.
