(00:00):
Hi, and welcome back to Curiousfor Christ.
(00:02):
I'm your host Alexandra, and I'mso glad you're here.
Last week in episode 1 0 5, weexplored five life-changing ways
the Bible transforms and heals.
Our hearts today, we're goingdeeper into one of those points.
One, I just couldn't move past.
You don't have to listen to thatepisode first, but I definitely
encourage you to go back to itwhen you can.
(00:25):
I will put the link in the shownotes in that episode.
The final point was this.
The word of God grows spiritualfruit.
We can't manufacture.
That truth has been stirring inme, especially'cause I've
meditated on Matthew 13, theparable of the sower and the way
Jesus talks about our hearts assoil.
(00:45):
Matthew 13 verse eight says, still other seed fell on good
soil where it produced a crop160 or 30 times.
What was sewn?
This isn't just about growth.
It really is aboutmultiplication, about lasting
fruit that only comes from beingdeeply rooted in God's word.
(01:07):
So here's the question that Iwant to ask today.
What kind of soil is your heart?
So often we want to change ourlives, our work, our
relationships, ourcircumstances.
There are tons of coaching onhow to build a business, how to
courses that promise to give usthe life we want.
(01:28):
I know I've purchased some andthey brought some result, but it
wasn't life changing.
And why?
Because God doesn't start there.
He starts with your heart.
Heart transformation is thedifference maker.
It's systemic.
It affects everything we do andeverything we are.
(01:51):
A transformed heart doesn't waitfor better conditions to show
up.
It learns to live out a deeperreality, even in the middle of
pain, confusion, and pressure.
And often, instead of removingour challenges, God uses them to
take us deeper, to show us adeeper reality we wouldn't have
(02:11):
seen otherwise.
I recently attended a churchconference that was incredibly
refreshing for my soul and myfamilies.
The classes the fellowship, thesense of growth among disciples
that we hadn't seen in years.
It was such a gift in one of theclasses focused on pain.
The pain we try to avoid, whichresults in lack of growth.
(02:35):
Avoiding pain is a survivalinstinct, but if we keep running
from it, we miss thetransformation.
Matthew 16, verse 25 says, whoever wants to save their life
will lose it, but whoever losestheir life, for my sake will
find it.
So this is my message for you.
Lose your life.
(02:56):
To save it with that mindset.
Go back to the word.
Jesus learned obedience throughwhat he suffered.
And pain became a teacher thatdrew him and us deeper into
dependence on God, whichultimately will lead us to the
life he desires for us.
Philippians two verse 13 says, for it is God who works in you
(03:19):
both to will and to work for hisgood pleasure.
So what I want to say is this,we may need to shift our
understanding of pain.
Pain, surrender to God is agreat teacher for our soul.
The Bible goes even deeper as tosay, to rejoice in our suffering
because we know that sufferingproduces perseverance.
(03:39):
Perseverance, character andcharacter.
Hope.
Romans five, verses three andfour.
We need God, his word.
And one another.
Now, back to this episode'stheme.
God prepares our heart throughhis word so that we can be
fruitful.
That preparation is central toour purpose, which is to know
(04:00):
God, to love him and make himknown, but we play a vital role
in this.
We have to let His word do itsdeep work of transformation in
us when our hearts are choked bydistractions, fear, or
disappointment, we resist thatpurpose we stall, and the fruit
he wants to grow in US doesn'thave room to flourish.
(04:22):
So let's walk through five waysscripture.
Prepare us for deep hearttransformation and fruit filled
living.
Welcome to Curious for Christ.
Do you ever find yourself lying, awake at night wondering about
God's plan for your life?
(04:44):
Maybe you wake up with bigdreams, but feel unsure where to
start or what your next stepshould be.
If you're curious aboutexploring your faith and finding
purpose, then you've come to theright place.
Hi, I'm Alexandra.
I too felt lost and sure of thedirection my life was taking.
I yearned to understand mypurpose and have someone guide
(05:05):
me, but I kept telling myself Iwas too busy.
The timing wasn't right, and mylack of clarity prevented me
from being consistent until Ifound Christ.
He brought peace into my lifeand revealed the way to find
purpose by anchoring myself.
In him.
In this podcast, we'll journeytogether exploring the Bible to
(05:28):
gain a deeper understanding ofhim and cultivate your own
personal relationship withChrist.
So open up your Bible, put inthose earbuds and listen up
because God is speaking to you.
He's making everything new andyou don't wanna miss it.
Let's get started.
(05:54):
Number one, scripture softensour hearts.
Matthew 13 verses five and sixsays, some seed fell on rocky
places where it did not havemuch soil.
It's sprang up quickly, but whenthe sun came up, the plants were
scorched.
Rocky soil is shallow soil.
It represents a heart that hearsthe word, but doesn't let it
(06:14):
take root.
Maybe we're too distracted.
Maybe we've been hardened bydisappointment or grief.
But the good news, God's wordsoften us.
Conviction replacesdefensiveness, tenderness
replaces cynicism.
Willingness replaces resistance.
The spirit through the wordtills up the ground of our
(06:36):
heart.
God doesn't just speak to us.
He prepares us to receive whathe's planted.
Number two, scripture waterswhat God plants.
Romans 10, verse 17 says so thenfaith comes by hearing and
hearing by the word of God.
Even good soil needs water.
We can't live off yesterday'srevelation or last week's
(06:57):
encouragement.
The word is our daily watering.
It nourishes the seeds of faith, identity, and truth.
Without that consistentwatering, the weeds take over.
Which are discouragement ordistraction, self effort.
But scripture keeps our heartshydrated in truth and prevents
the lies of the world fromdrying us out.
(07:20):
Number three, Scripture exposeswhat's in the soil.
Jeremiah 17 verse nine says, theheart is deceitful above all
things who can understand it?
And Hebrews four, verse 12 says, the word of God is living and
active.
It judges the thoughts andattitudes of the heart.
We don't always know what'sgoing on inside of us, but God
(07:40):
does.
Scripture helps us uncover thethings buried in our soil, the
parts we avoid or can't see, thepride we didn't notice, the
wounds we've hidden, the idolswe've clunked to, Having people
in our life also is so importantin this process, and this is
never about shame.
It's about space making room forhealing, wholeness, and deeper
(08:04):
roots.
Number four, scripture guardsthe growth process.
Matthew 13, verse 23 says, butthe seed falling on good soil
refers to someone who hears theword and understand it as the
word takes root.
It also begins to protect.
What's growing?
It guards us from spiritualtheft.
(08:24):
The enemy who wants to steal theseed, discouragement that tries
to choke it out.
Forgetfulness, that lets itwither.
James one, verse 22 reminds us,do not merely listen to the word
and so deceives yourselves, dowhat it says.
Good soil acts, it holds on, itobeys and it trusts the
(08:46):
gardener.
Number five, scripture producesfruit.
Only God can grow.
Matthew 13, verse 23 says theyproduce a crop, some hundreds,
some 60, some 30 times.
What was sown, and here's theamazing part.
The fruit isn't forced.
When the soil is ready, the seedmultiplies.
(09:09):
Not by our effort, but by God,spirit and the result, peace and
chaos.
Joy, not tied to ourcircumstances.
Forgiveness.
That seems impossible.
Faith that silences fear.
A relationship with God.
That was just like in the Gardenof Eden when Adam and Eve were
just walking with their God.
(09:30):
Transformation begins with yourheart and scripture prepares it.
Not to make your perfect soil, but to make you open soil.
You don't need to try harder, you just need to be willing.
Be open just once more.
The Holy Spirit does the rest,so.
To close.
What kind of soil is your hearttoday?
(09:51):
Do you need softening, watering, clearing out guarding?
Wherever you are?
God is not done with your heart.
As you stay in his word.
As you allow him to plant andprune and water, your life will
begin to change, not because youworked harder, as we said, but
because his spirit is faithfulto complete what he started.
(10:14):
This is how we live out ourpurpose.
To know him, love him, and makehim known.
So let's pray Jesus till thesoil of our heart break what's
hard.
Heal what's hidden.
Help us receive your word withjoy.
Bring faithful people into ourlife to strengthen and encourage
(10:34):
us.
Thank you for loving us andnever giving up on us.
In Jesus' name, amen.
So this is it for today.
I hope this episode helped yousee your life through the lens
of God's word.
To recognize a deeper realitybeneath what you see and feel.
Transformation takes time.
A gardener knows the seeddoesn't grow overnight, but with
(10:56):
God, we have everything we need.
His timing, his care, hispresence.
So if it feels slow, trust theprocess.
God is not in a hurry.
He's making something beautiful.
