(00:00):
Hi, and welcome back to Curiousfor Christ.
(00:02):
If you are new to the show, welcome.
This is Alexandra, your host.
Have you ever wondered.
Will this ever end?
And by that I mean problems tosolve, situations to improve
imperfect relationships.
Will I ever feel peace thatactually lasts because I've been
there.
Actually, I'm there right now.
(00:22):
There are areas I know I need togrow in, but sometimes it feels
like no matter how hard I try.
There is something more thatkeeps coming.
After all, I will never beperfect until the day I see
Jesus, right?
Will I ever have peace?
Will my life ever truly improve?
If I can never be perfect?
I realize actually that when itgets too hard, it may be that
(00:44):
I'm holding on to something thatis not for me to hold, and I
need to painfully get to the endof myself to meet God and
surrender that part so I canactually hold it.
This past year and honestly justthese last few weeks have felt
like a whirlwind.
It's nearing the end of summer.
My daughter went to teen camp atchurch and afterwards a family
(01:05):
we've known forever reached outto us and they shared some
observations about her behavior.
And my first reaction, to behonest, I wanted to be
defensive.
I also felt like I had failed.
I did not feel God's grace, butmore an understanding that I
needed to work on that with mydaughter.
One more thing that I need toimprove in, and it left me quite
heavy and honestly discouraged.
(01:27):
And it wasn't just thatparenting is hard with layers of
emotionals, virtual logisticalchallenges that never seem to
slow down.
So little help so much to do.
I had to stop and sit with Godbecause if I didn't pause, I
knew I'd carry that unrest traitinto my work, my family, my
life.
And I had to ask, where is Godin this?
(01:48):
Why do I feel so unsettled orheavy or discouraged?
Like me, you might be asking, where is peace?
When life won't let up?
You pray, you try, you keepgoing, but deep inside you
wonder if peace is only forpeople who have it more together
than you.
Let's talk about this.
In this episode, we areunpacking three biblical truths
(02:09):
about peace, and I believethey'll meet you exactly where
you are.
Let's go.
Welcome to Curious for Christ.
Do you ever find yourself lying, awake at night wondering about
God's plan for your life?
Maybe you wake up with bigdreams, but feel unsure where to
(02:32):
start or what your next stepshould be.
If you're curious aboutexploring your faith and finding
purpose, then you've come to theright place.
Hi, I'm Alexandra.
I too felt lost and sure of thedirection my life was taking.
I yearned to understand mypurpose and have someone guide
me, but I kept telling myself Iwas too busy.
(02:53):
The timing wasn't right, and mylack of clarity prevented me
from being consistent until Ifound Christ.
He brought peace into my lifeand revealed the way to find
purpose by anchoring myself.
In him.
In this podcast, we'll journeytogether exploring the Bible to
gain a deeper understanding ofhim and cultivate your own
(03:17):
personal relationship withChrist.
So open up your Bible, put inthose earbuds and listen up
because God is speaking to you.
He's making everything new andyou don't wanna miss it.
Let's get started.
(03:39):
Truth number one, peace as aperson, not a place you reach.
John 14, verse 27 says, peace Ileave with you.
My peace I give you.
I do not give to you as theworld gives.
Do not let your hearts betroubled and do not be afraid.
Jesus is the embodiment ofpeace.
The Bible calls him the Princeof peace.
(04:00):
He's described as our peace, ourhope as well.
True lasting peace is found inthe person of Jesus Christ.
So let's break this down.
The world offers peace based oncircumstances like a calm day,
financial security, approvalfrom others, control or comfort.
(04:21):
But those things can change in amoment.
Jesus, however, gives a peacethat remains even when storms
come.
Relationships train.
Money runs low.
Life feels uncertain.
Worldly peace often comes withstrings attached as well.
It's kind of transactional.
You'll have peace if you earnit, fix it, achieve it, or
(04:44):
escape it.
But Jesus says, you already havepeace because I'm giving you
myself.
His peace is not earned.
It's received throughrelationship.
So peace is not something weachieve by fixing our
circumstances.
It is found in relationship withJesus, not as a fleeting
(05:05):
emotion, dependent oncircumstances or human effort.
That means you don't have tohustle for peace.
You don't have to wait untileverything settles down or feels
better.
You can receive it right here inthe middle of your real life
mess, noise, and all Truthnumber two, you don't have to be
perfect to be at peace with Godor within.
(05:29):
Let me explain Romans five, verse one says, therefore, since
we have been justified throughfaith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ.
So let's be clear.
Peace doesn't begin when thechaos stops.
We've got that part, but itbegins when you know you are
right with God.
Romans five verse one Speaks ofpeace with God, not just the
(05:52):
inner calm we often crave.
That's the peace of God, butsomething even more foundational
and eternal because of Jesus.
The hostility between you andGod is over.
You've been justified by faith.
That means your sins areforgiven, not because you earned
it, but because Jesus paid forit.
You are no longer separated fromGod, but brought near through
(06:14):
Christ and from this restoredrelationship.
God teaches us to walk inobedience and trust through
life's challenges.
Not to punish us, but tostrengthen us.
Your heart.
Seasons aren't proof of God'sabsence.
They're often.
Where faith is forged, but youhave peace with God.
(06:36):
Now you are no longer at oddswith him.
He is on your side and he'sworking for your good.
As Romans eight, verse 28 says,so let's this sink in and it's a
sobering reality that we need toacknowledge we have peace with
God because of Jesus.
Peace with God is the startingpoint.
(06:58):
It marks actually the end ofseparation and the beginning of
a relationship rooted in grace, and from that relationship
flows, the peace of God, thedeep, unshakeable calm that
guards your heart and mind inChrist.
Philippians four, seven, truthnumber three, peace grows in the
(07:19):
middle of real life.
Peace grows in the middle ofreal life, not by escaping it.
Isaiah 26, verse three says, youwill keep in perfect peace.
Those whose minds are steadfastbecause they trust in you.
Peace isn't something we find byrunning away from the hard
things.
(07:39):
Instead, it is formed within usas we stay connected to God in
the midst of life's challenges.
Put simply our part is to remainsteadfast, which means firm
unwavering, refusing to give into doubt and choosing to trust
God no matter what, even if itdoesn't feel okay, or if you
(08:03):
don't understand it.
You can say you can choose totrust God.
And Isaiah continues in versefour, trust in the Lord forever
for the Lord.
The Lord himself is the rock.
Eternal.
Do you believe that?
He is the rock.
Eternal.
He can be trusted.
(08:23):
And again, in verse eight, yesLord, walking in the way of your
truth.
We wait for you.
So, let's be honest, there areseasons, so let's be honest,
there are seasons when lifefeels like one thing after
another, the unpaid bills, thedifficult medical news, the
(08:44):
challenges of school and teenageyears, the mental and emotional
exhaustion, the fears aboutaging or not being enough.
The ongoing health struggles forme right now.
It's the struggles in marriageand parenting with all these
layers that I mentioned earlier,but Isaiah doesn't say you'll
find peace once the stormpasses.
It says, God keeps us in perfectpeace as our minds stay focused
(09:09):
on him.
Peace isn't anchored in perfectbehavior or circumstances.
It's rooted in ongoing activetrust.
So that's it, my friend.
Before we close, let me recaptoday's three truths.
Truth number one, peace is notjust a feeling, it's a person.
True peace is found in a realliving relationship with Jesus.
Truth number two, I have peacewith God.
(09:32):
Through Jesus, my sin onceseparated me from him, and that
separation meant I was at war.
With God, that reality is deeplyunsettling to my soul.
But Jesus did what I nevercould.
He restored the relationship.
And now because I'm no longeragainst God, but with him, I
have peace with God.
(09:52):
That's the starting point forexperiencing the peace of God in
my everyday life.
And I don't know about you, butI need to go back to that truth
if I want to get well.
Truth number three.
Peace doesn't come throughescape.
It grows in the middle of reallife.
And as I choose to trust God inthe tension, in the unknown in
(10:13):
the heart, I find his peacemeeting me right there.
Let us pray.
God, I am tired.
I feel like no matter how hard Itry, there's always something
stealing my peace.
God help me and for every personlistening today, I pray they can
surrender the pressure to beperfect and lay down the belief
that peace is only for peoplewho have it all together.
(10:36):
Thank you Jesus for making peacewith you possible and for
offering the peace of God toguard our hearts.
Help us stay close to you.
Let your peace rule in us evenwhen nothing around us makes
sense.
In Jesus' name, amen.
Thank you so much for listening.

waiting for you at the end ofthe storm.
It is available right nowbecause Jesus is with you in the
(11:20):
middle of it.
So stay curious, stay close toChrist, and stay open to the
peace he offers.
Not after the chaos, but in thevery heart of it.
See you next time.
