Welcome everyone.
I'm Sofia Yvette, co-host andproducer here in the studio with
Trang Nguyen, founder of CBAProducts.
Trang, how are you today?
I'm good.
How are you?
I'm also good Now.
Over the years, you've grown aremarkable following.
However, some listeners may notbe familiar with your full
(01:16):
journey.
Let's take it from the top.
Could you share a littlebackground about your company
and what you do?
Speaker 3 (01:24):
So I okay, let me
start out.
So I'm not really I'm a soapmakers, but we, so I own a CBA
product that's an old town, keller, and I started because my
daughter has eczema and was notwhat I thought I was going to
(01:44):
go to do it, but I wasstruggling so much for four
years and I get tired of herusing story cream and she
couldn't even leave the house,so it was make me frustrated.
And when COVID came, I havemore time staying home so I dig
deeper, researching what causedit and what I should do to help
my daughter and get rid ofsteroid, because I heard so many
(02:05):
bad thing about steroid creamand I don't want my daughter to
be on that.
And so I came across the goatmilk soap and I try, I try from
one brand and then I read theingredients, understand what it
is.
And then I attend some classes, learn how to make soap, and
then I tested on my daughter.
A couple of years after that Isaw improvement on her and then
(02:27):
we don't have to use their storycream.
And then I told my husband thatI need to make soap and started
helping other people.
So we, that's how I started.
But the store itself is not my,it's my husband's side, like my
side store, my dream store.
I still have other job to do.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Now we know marketing
is the key to every business's
success.
How do you currently marketyour business?
Speaker 3 (03:00):
When I first started,
it's just me and my husband, so
we attend every little bit ofsmall town and COVID just
started, so we attend everysingle outdoor event.
We didn't have a chance becausewe're brand new, so we couldn't
do any farmer markets.
We do pop-up events and then Imet and networking with other
(03:20):
vendors and then we step into acity event.
After that, then we got into aCD van.
After that, then we got intofarmer markets and then we got
into Expo.
We did a little bit of Facebookads, but it's not so well.
It's not the customers, causemy product is very unique.
(03:41):
I just want to help the peoplewho need it and also regular
people too, but it's just that'sthe goal that I want.
Want to help the people whoneed it and also regular people
too, but it's just that's thegoal.
And then, when people get offcertain things, and then
networking, word of mouth, andthen we on Google ads, that's
pretty much that's it, but yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Now, when you're not
running your business, what do
you usually like to do for fun?
Speaker 3 (04:09):
your business.
What do you usually like to dofor fun?
Oh so I have four kids.
I'm really I have really tightschedule because I also work
full-time on the side, so everyusually we only we only have
time, like on the holidays, andit gets off on school, and so
every time when they off fromschool I make sure I take them
to.
I like to go to to the beach,so we take them to the beach.
I like to do sightseeing.
I think that pretty much is.
We like to get out of town, dofour or five days vacay, let the
(04:32):
kids enjoy the time they have, because we only do that only
like twice a year, three times ayear.
So those times are veryimportant to us.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Well, family fun is
always important and, trang, it
sounds like you're a very, verybusy person.
So, in your own words, why areyou doing?
Speaker 3 (04:54):
this the stuff I want
to educate people what they
need to do to help their ownkids or help themselves.
I never know my things areworth for others unless they
(05:17):
have to come and tell me itworks.
And one time about two yearsago, two or three years ago and
I met a customer at the flowermarket and she brought her
daughter to me and she showed mewhat her daughter had was an
eczema on the palm, the hand, and it was pretty bad.
It worse than what my daughterhad.
It was cracked everywhere andit was bleeding and so I gave
(05:41):
the bomb.
At the time I did tricks, a lotof stuff, so I gave the bomb
for a mom to try it out.
I think about a week or twoweeks later she actually wrote
me an email and thanks mebecause of the bomb.
She didn't have to take herdaughter to a dermatologist for
anything, it just grew up on itsown, broke into tears when I
(06:03):
read that email and I wasexcited, was happy.
She was not the first one.
And when our store got was, wasit one of the local newspaper
reach out to us and they wrotean article about us.
We not we not necessarily likeselling stuff, we want to help
other parents too and not justthe parent itself, an adult
(06:24):
who's suffering the same thing.
So when we have local newspaperpublishers on there and then a
couple senior folks who readabout us and they reach out to
us and normally I don't know ifyou order online, I wouldn't
know what you have unless youtalk to me in person.
And I do hate the fact that ifyou try my product and it
(06:48):
doesn't work and I don't knowthat and then like it doesn't
help you, I don't want that tohappen.
And two years ago when I gotlike a bunch of orders come in
and accidentally I read them, read through, and I was like
Okay, why did this person orderthis?
But the person actually leftthe phone number.
So I reached out and I found outthat she didn't have eczema,
(07:10):
she had something else, and so Idid send her what I think
should work and I told her totry it out and she did and she
sent me feedback.
He said, oh, it doesn't work.
And I told her she needs to seea dermatologist or doctor get
inside what she had and she did.
She came back.
She told me she had to see adermatologist or a doctor to get
(07:30):
insight, what she had.
And she did.
She came back.
She told me she had some kindof infection or something.
So I have to tell her what shecould use.
Not what I have, but I told herwhere she could get the
ingredient that could help herto overcome her infections
(07:50):
infections.
And sure enough, like about twoweeks later she came back and
she literally told me that theoil I told her to get not only
it helped her but it also helpedher husband, like he has a
really bad infection somewhere.
It's healed up on its own.
So it just it's not my product, but if I know what you have, I
can guide you through it and Ican tell you what you need to
(08:11):
get.
If you can get it locally oryou can order online, you use it
.
It will work.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
