There’s a great title to one of the rules in Jordan Peterson’s book “12 Rules for Life” - “Do Not Let Your Children Do Anything that Makes You Dislike Them”.

The chapter’s about discipline, training and encouragement of our children, especially by parents, to eventually make better adults of them. In a lot of ways discipline is a topic that’s unpopular today. Marriage, and the children of that marriage, and how they turn out are the very foundations of a strong, prosperous and happy society – now and when those children grow up.

Even the monster Joseph Stalin recognised that when he came to power in Russia. He abruptly got rid of the no-fault divorce laws that the Bolsheviks had brought in after the Russian Revolution succeeded and they were took control of the country. Well these same people today, the people of the pagan left, with the same failed ideas as the Bolsheviks - no fault divorce laws, are the ones who also figure that children shouldn’t be disciplined physically – even at all. A good hard slap, amongst other ways, despite their so-called modern thinking against it, is in fact just one of the tools that parents have and need recourse to at the appropriate time when bringing up their children.

The people who are totally against slapping, no exceptions, are mostly the same people who don’t believe that our universe was created by God. Don’t believe that they were created by God. If you ask them, they’ll tell you that you that you evolved from an ape. That there is no God. Well it seems to me, following their logic, if you evolved from an ape, then you are just a jumped up animal. If that’s the case then, when you watch a nature show with a lioness or a lion with their cubs. There’s always some slapping going on. Some discipline.

Ironically these people who tell you that you evolved from an ape imagine that, somehow, you are infinitely more advanced than the animals that you evolved from. Doesn’t that mean is that you’re in fact a special creation – in fact just like the Bible tells us but without God. Special but absolutely, and impossibly, random.

So let’s see what part discipline in bringing up our children plays.
