Hello, design enthusiasts!
Welcome back to another episode of DailyInterior Design Inspiration.
I'm your host, Betsy Helmuth, and I hope you'reready for your daily dose of affordable and
modern interior design tips, especially ifyou're in NYC, Westchester, New Jersey,
Connecticut, or Washington DC.
Today, we're diving into some amazing findsthat won't break the bank but will make a huge

(00:24):
difference in your home.
Let's kick things off with a story from NikolSlatinska, a Commerce Shopping Writer at
Apartment Therapy.
She recently shared her experience aboutfinding the perfect rug for her tiny apartment,
and it’s a game-changer.
Nikol moved to New York City, her dream city, and like many of us, she faced the challenge of

(00:50):
making her apartment feel like a real home.
After six months of living in an all-white,clinical-looking space, Nikol and her roommates
finally furnished their apartment.
However, it wasn't until they added an area rugto their common space that the place truly felt
complete.
Initially, they used one of her roommate’srugs, but it was too big and had a large-scale

(01:14):
pattern that overwhelmed the small enclave nextto the kitchen, making the space feel even
smaller.
Determined to find a better solution, Nikolremembered her colleagues raving about Loloi
rugs.
She spent days comparing different models andfinally opted for the Sorrento rug, which she
found on Wayfair for a great price.

(01:37):
This rug turned out to be perfect for her needsand was available for just $133.71, down from
$299.
Now, let us talk about why the Sorrento rug wassuch a fantastic find.
Despite being made of 100% polyester, which cansometimes feel scratchy, the Sorrento rug has a

(01:59):
velvety soft finish.
It's also low pile, making it easy to vacuumand clean – a crucial feature for Nikol, as her
roommate has two cats.
The rug’s low pile makes it hassle-free toclean up cat hair and litter granules.
Aesthetically, this rug comes in three colors, and Nikol chose the bark and natural color for

(02:22):
a warm, cozy look.
The vintage-inspired pattern adds texture andcoziness without making the space feel crowded.
The rug is available in 14 sizes and fourshapes, including rectangular, runner, square,
and round, so there's a size and shape forevery space.

(02:42):
Nikol loves that the Sorrento rug looks almostantique but not outdated, ensuring it will
never go out of style.
Its neutral color scheme blends seamlessly withthe rest of her furniture and decor, allowing
for versatile styling options.
She chose the 5x7-foot size, which ties hersofa, bookshelf, and coffee table together

(03:05):
perfectly without overwhelming the living room.
Another fantastic feature of the Sorrento rugis its stain-resistance.
While Nikol and her roommates haven't spilledanything on it in the four months they've had
it, they did have to clean up cat throw-up,which came out easily without leaving any

(03:27):
stains.
The rug's polyester material is durable and hasheld up well in one of their apartment's
heaviest traffic areas.
The only minor issue Nikol encountered was afiber that unraveled on one of the short
tasseled ends, but she simply clipped it, andit was no longer a problem.
Overall, she couldn't recommend the LoloiSorrento rug enough.

(03:51):
With its stylish design, durability, andaffordability, it's a fantastic addition to any
home.
And at just $133 while on sale, it’s anabsolute steal!
Morgan Pryor, a Commerce Assistant Editor at ATMedia, has found what she believes to be the
“perfect” decluttering solution.

(04:14):
Over the years, no other piece of furniture hasproved its worth to her more than her various
shelving units.
Shelves are pretty much a no-brainer when youlive in small spaces like she does.
Morgan's first studio apartment, for instance, had only two cabinets in the kitchen.
Once they contained all of her dishes andcookware, there was absolutely nowhere to store

(04:38):
her snacks.
Her saving grace turned out to be afloor-to-ceiling rack with six tiers.
For two years, it became her pantry andappliance station.
Even when she moved into a larger place, itheld towels and toiletries in the bathroom.
Now that she’s downsized again, she’s so gladthat she brought her shelving unit with her.

(05:00):
In fact, she recently bought another for herentryway, and it decluttered the area
instantly.
Take it from Morgan — investing in a shelvingunit will pay off, but it never hurts if you
can score one on sale.
QVC has one that’s 30% off right now, and youcan even stack another discount if you’re a new
customer.

(05:20):
Just add the code HELLO20.
Plus, the Pop-It rack has an extra feature thatsets it apart from others.
Find out more below!
The Pop-It 5-Tier Slim Rack with 2 SlidingDrawers is a storage gem that will transform
virtually any room, making the most of verticalspace.
Small apartment or not, why not free up moreroom in your home with a shelving unit like

(05:44):
this one?
The kitchen, as Morgan mentioned, is oneplacement option.
It’s sturdy enough to support things like yourmicrowave and coffee maker on the open shelves,
and the baskets on the bottom can be where youput your pantry items.
The closed drawers are what gives this unit anedge over other versions, because you can keep
some items out of view, making the room lookneater.

(06:09):
In your bedroom or closet, it can storeclothing and accessories.
In the laundry room, it can hold cleaningsupplies.
I could go on, but you get the idea.
You can even change its purpose easily, thanksto the four wheels on the bottom, saving you
the hassle of hoisting it from room to room.
It’s only a little under 18 inches wide, so itcan fit in any narrow gap you need to fill.

(06:32):
QVC shoppers have praised the Pop-It 5-TierSlim Rack for its versatility and ease of
setup.
One reviewer mentioned being amazed that theycould set it up on their own, despite having
arthritis in both hands and other mobilityissues.
Another shopper found it very handy for someonewithout closet space, using the shelves for

(06:55):
books and small storage boxes and the basketsfor shoes.
A third reviewer noted that it was the perfectsize for their back porch and that the drawers
were very useful for organizing plant foodsupplies.
With the discount code, you can snag thisadaptable unit for only eighty dollars, which

(07:16):
is a bargain when you take into account howmany uses it can serve.
There’s no telling how long its sale price willlast, though, so don’t hold off on adding it to
your cart!
Sarah Everett, the Assistant Editor of HomeProjects at Apartment Therapy, recently wrote
about a jaw-dropping transformation of aniconic IKEA HEMNES dresser.

(07:37):
Kate Ward, a creative DIYer, decided it wastime to give her daughter's plain white dresser
a makeover.
The project cost about fifty dollars and theresults are nothing short of stunning.
Kate had owned the IKEA HEMNES drawer unit formany years, and while she loved the storage it
provided for her daughter's clothes, she feltthat the original white color did not

(08:02):
complement the bedroom's color scheme.
"I wanted to give it an update to make it lookmore bespoke," Kate said.
The transformation began with Kate sanding thedrawers using 120-grit sandpaper and cleaning
them with sugar soap.
She then used Maison Deco's wood effect kitchencabinet paint to give the dresser a darker wood

(08:24):
look, perfect for her daughter'swoodland-themed room.

This special paint comes in two parts (08:28):
a base coat and a top coat, which together create a
convincing wood-effect finish.
Kate applied the base coat in the direction shewanted the wood grain to appear and let it dry
for twelve hours.
She then applied the top coat in the samedirection, enhancing the wood grain effect even

(08:51):
further.
"The wood effect brings so much more warmthcompared to the original white color," Kate
explained.
But Kate did not stop there.
To add extra charm, she applied the same painttechnique to a piece of scalloped trim.
She attached the trim to a scrap piece of woodleft over from another project, cut it to the

(09:14):
dimensions of the HEMNES, and clamped and gluedit to the bottom of the dresser.
"The scallop trim is definitely my favoritepart," she said.
"It wasn't until I opened the scallop trim thatI discovered it was self-adhesive, so that was
really easy to fix to the drawers!"

(09:34):
The final touch was adding aged brass knobs, which gave the dresser an elegant and unique
look.
"I'm so happy with how it looks!" Kateexclaimed.
"I've been able to retain the storage that Ilove about the HEMNES drawers, but it looks so
much better in this space."
This transformation is a perfect example of howa little creativity and a modest budget can

(09:58):
turn a basic piece of furniture into a bespoke, stylish addition to any room.

Adrienne Breaux, House Tour Director at ATMedia, recently featured an 80-year-old rental

(10:19):
apartment where even the plants are thrifted.
Laura Yacoubian, the tenant, shares her700-square-foot apartment in Charlotte, North
Carolina, with her cat, Snowbelle.
Laura's eclectic, mid-century modern vintagestyle transforms this historic space into a
warm, unfussy, and bright home.

(10:42):
Laura first moved to Charlotte and wasimmediately drawn to the historic brick
'fourplex' apartment buildings.
She always wanted to see inside one, and shegot lucky when she found her current apartment,
built in the early 1940s.
Laura's love for secondhand items startedyoung, and her apartment is a testament to her

(11:02):
thrifting skills.
Laura found her couch on Facebook Marketplace, and it was made in North Carolina.
Her coffee table and most of her decorativeitems came from estate sales.
The rug was also a Facebook Marketplace find, and the dresser she uses as a TV stand has been
with her for several years.
Laura writes that she has loved collectingsecondhand items since she was young.

(11:28):
Aside from some cookware, all of Laura'sfurniture, wall art, linens, trinkets, rugs,
and even her plants have been found secondhand.
She started going to thrift stores at a veryyoung age, and by early middle school, she was
bringing furniture and wall art back to herparents' house.

(11:48):
Thankfully, they were supportive of her hobby, and she has never stopped.
Laura describes her home’s style as 'warm, unfussy, bright, Southwestern.' She found two
mid-century rocking chairs on FacebookMarketplace, although she plans to reupholster
them at some point.

(12:09):
The rug in her living room was a recent findduring a trip to New Hampshire, which she
managed to stuff into her suitcase.
The last addition to her apartment was a woodencabinet with an ornate print on the front,
found at an estate sale.
Laura's advice for finding incrediblesecondhand gems is to wake up early for estate

(12:30):
sales and to look in unexpected sections atthrift stores, like the linens and bedding
racks or the books section.
One of Snowbelle's favorite nap spots is on agreen blanket at the end of Laura's bed, which
she found at an estate sale.
The rug in her bedroom was another FacebookMarketplace find, and the tiger tapestry is

(12:51):
from a vintage shop in her neighborhood.
Her nightstand, a mid-century modern side tableby Stanley Furniture, was a twenty-dollar
thrift store find.
Laura also offers a valuable tip for vintagerug enthusiasts: do not invest in a vintage rug
that is not 100 percent wool.

(13:13):
She emphasizes the importance of learning tospot the difference between handwoven and
machine-woven rugs, a skill she has picked upover the years.
Laura's apartment is a perfect example of howto create a beautiful, functional home on a
budget.
Her secondhand finds and dedication tothrifting have transformed her 80-year-old

(13:37):
rental into a cozy, stylish sanctuary.
If you are inspired by Laura's home, considerexploring estate sales, thrift stores, and
online marketplaces for your own uniquetreasures.
