“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
Jesus says in Revelation 22:13.
In the very last chapter of the Bible, Jesus declares something astonishing — something only God can rightfully say: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End of all things.”
These aren’t just poetic words. They’re a profound truth about who Jesus is and what He means for our lives.
Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. It's like saying, "I am The Beginning and the End of all your source and your destination — are all in my hands — and everything in between." Jesus is not a part of the story; He is the story. He was there at creation, and He’ll be there when the final curtain falls on history. Nothing begins without Him. Nothing ends beyond Him.
When Jesus says He is the Beginning, He’s reminding us that He is our origin — the One who formed us, called us, and set our days in motion. You’re not an accident. You were created on purpose, for a purpose, by the One who began everything.
When He says He is the End, He’s telling us that He is our destination. History isn’t spiraling out of control — it’s moving toward a divine conclusion, where every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
And in between the beginning and the end? He is faithful. He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever.
So no matter where you are in your life — just starting out, facing the middle struggles, or nearing the end of a long journey — Jesus is there. He knows your story because He authored it. He’s not surprised by your pain, and He’s not finished with your purpose.
So when life is difficult or easy, just know that he is The One Who Holds It All, the Alpha and the Omega.
