A Devotional on Joshua 6:20 The Bible says in Joshua 6:20: “So the people shouted, and the trumpets were blown. As soon as the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they captured the city.” This verse reminds us of one of the greatest miracles in Israel’s history—the fall of Jericho. Jericho’s walls were massive, fortified, and humanly impossible to break down. Yet God gave Joshua and the people of Israel a strategy that made no sense to human reasoning: march around the city, blow the trumpets, and shout. Their obedience and faith in God brought about the impossible. The fall of Jericho shows us a powerful truth: our greatest battles are not won by our strength but by God’s power. Sometimes, the “walls” in our lives—whether they are financial struggles, health issues, broken relationships, or spiritual battles—seem impenetrable. We try everything we know, but the walls don’t move. That’s when we must remember: it’s not by might, not by power, but by the Spirit of the Lord (Zechariah 4:6). Notice that the walls did not fall because of the Israelites’ strength. They fell because God honored their faith-filled obedience. The same God who brought down Jericho’s walls is still tearing down walls today. If you are facing walls in your life right now, don’t give up. Keep walking in obedience. Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep declaring God’s promises. Your shout of faith may be the very thing that brings down the walls standing between you and your breakthrough. Remember, walls that look permanent to men are temporary to God. What seems immovable can fall in a moment when God steps in. --- ✍️ Devotional Reflection: What “walls” are standing in your way right now?
