📖 Genesis 42–43: Hidden Truths and Growing Grace
Amid a devastating famine, Jacob sends his sons to Egypt for grain—unaware that the Egyptian official they face is their long-lost brother Joseph. In Genesis 42, Joseph recognizes them but conceals his identity, testing their integrity by imprisoning Simeon and demanding they return with Benjamin. Guilt from their past betrayal surfaces, and the brothers begin to reckon with divine justice.
In Genesis 43, the famine deepens, and Judah steps up with a pledge to protect Benjamin. Jacob reluctantly agrees, sending gifts and double silver. Joseph, moved by the sight of Benjamin, hosts a feast and showers his youngest brother with favor. The tension between fear and forgiveness builds, hinting at the reconciliation to come.
