Roxanne Fletcher.

the chilling tell of the BlackEyed Children, dark Crossroads
podcast is a truly deep diveinto the stories that frighten
and fascinate you.
All links to the show will beprovided in this episode's

(01:34):
description, and don't forget tolet us know what you think of
today's episode.
In 2019, daniel CorneliusRobinson had graduated from the
College of Charleston withhonors, with a degree in

(01:54):
archaeology.
His family has described him asan incredibly bright mind who
loved his family.
Daniel had an innate sense ofadventure, but would always
inform his family of any of histravel plans.
Daniel is described as a 24year old Black male standing at
5'8 and weighing approximately165 pounds.
He was born without his handand a part of his forearm on his

(02:16):
right side.
He did not let this stop himfrom playing video games or even
learning the trumpet.
Daniel was just beginning hiscareer as a hydrogeologist and
was excited for the future.
Right after graduation, he wasoffered a job as a field
geologist with the Matrix NewWorld in Phoenix, arizona.
One of his sisters lived inPhoenix, arizona and Daniel had

(02:38):
taken a class and flagged staffbefore he eventually moved to
Tempe, arizona.
He was working as an Instacartdriver on the side for extra
income and had recently madeplans with his family to visit
him in July of 2021.
On June 12th of 2021, david meta woman named Caitlin.
While delivering for her, caitlin had invited him to hang

(02:58):
out at her home with one of herfriends.
She also gave him some podcastsuggestions and the two
exchanged numbers and begantexting.
According to Caitlin, danielshowed up to her home
unannounced and attempted toseize contact with him.
On the morning of June 22nd 2021, daniel's father, david
Robinson II, last spoke to hisson the following day.

(03:19):
Daniel had stopped at a localgas station before he went to
work.
He was meeting his co-worker,kenneth, at a job site.
At this shell gas station, hebuys $3.83 worth of fuel.
This information was discoveredlater by police triangulating
both phone bank and car records.
Authorities were able toconfirm via grainy surveillance

(03:39):
footage that Daniel was at pumpfor and he left around 7.03 am.
When police pulled Daniel'sphone records, they were able to
determine that the last textmessage Daniel sent was to
Kenneth around 8.10 am thatmorning.
The contents of the textmessage were not included in the
police report.
Those who saw Daniel thatmorning recall that he seemed

(04:00):
different than his usual self, but made no comments about
harming himself or others.
Daniel did end up going to workand with his job as a
hydrogeologist, it meant that heoften met with representatives
from companies who wanted todrill wells.
His work day began at 7 am andthat morning he had a meeting
with the company Weber.

(04:21):
His co-worker stated thatDaniel was behaving quite
strangely, staring into thedistance and talking about
things that did not make anysense.
His co-worker reported thebehavior to his supervisor.
Daniel was last seen leaving ajob site near Sun Valley Parkway
and Cactus Road.
He stayed for approximately 15minutes before leaving.

(04:42):
Daniel was last seen around 9am.
According to a police report, daniel's co-worker, ken, was
made aware that Daniel had notbeen located yet.
He was also informed thatDaniel had not contacted any of
his family.
Ken got into his vehicle andbegan searching for David.
He told police that the roadruns north and south and if you

(05:02):
head south it comes to a Tintersection.
If you were to turn east, thatwould be going in the same
direction where Daniel and Kenhad come from.
Earlier that day, ken noticedthat Daniel's tire marks were
going westbound where thatintersection turns into vast
desert terrain.
Ken followed the path trying tofind Daniel, but was
unsuccessful.

(05:22):
Daniel's friend contacts hissister after they both could not
make contact with him.
Daniel's father, david, wasthen contacted.
He contacts the Buckeye policebut is told he must wait 12
hours before reporting himmissing.
However, in any jurisdiction, the concept of a 12 or 24 hour
waiting period to report amissing person is a fallacy.

(05:46):
Those hours are the mostimportant time to search for a
missing person.
Daniel was officially reportedmissing at approximately 7pm on
June 23rd of 2021.
According to new informationreleased by Buckeye police,
daniel's phone had stoppedpinging at 10.30am.
The Buckeye police startfollowing up on information

(06:07):
provided by David that Danielmay have had the on-star system
or the Uconnect system.
This could potentially allowauthorities to find Daniel's
vehicle location.
However, when police contactedon-star, they were told that
Daniel's 2017 Jeep Renegadewould not have that system.
When authorities spoke to theUconnect, daniel was listed in
the system, but no account wasever officially created.

(06:30):
The officer was able toactivate Daniel's account in
hopes that would reveal thelocation of his car.
Shortly after the policeactivated Daniel's Uconnect,
they received an email showinginformation to Daniel's
vehicle's location.
However, the GPS location thatwas showing was 0 slash 0.
Authorities did also try totriangulate the cell phone

(06:51):
records, but it provided no newinformation regarding the
location of both Daniel or hiscar.
Buckeye police officersThatcher and Cruz called
Daniel's cell phone for a secondtime, but there is no answer.
Daniel was supposed to work theday after his disappearance and
did not show up.
Buckeye police received updatedphone records from AT&T and the

(07:11):
records show only five outgoingtext messages before Daniel's
disappearance.
However, the content of thesemessages were also not included
in the report.
At this time, david was livingin South Carolina and drove all
the way to Arizona to helpsearch for his son.
He arrived in Arizona by June26 and wasted absolutely no time

(07:32):
to aid in the investigation inany way that he possibly could.
Several foot and aerialsearches were conducted in the
desert, but it uncovered no newinformation related to Daniel's
case.
Missing persons posters werealso handed out amongst the
local community.
During some of these searches.
Authorities were able to findremains on several occasions and

(07:54):
, according to the Buckeyepolice department, a skull was
found not far from the crashsite of Daniel's car.
The remains were brought in tothe medical examiner's office
for further examination andlater all remains were
discovered to not be that ofDaniel.
The Buckeye police departmentmade contact with the manager of
Daniel's apartment complex.
Daniel's family had tried togain entry into his apartment in

(08:17):
hopes of finding any newinformation or clues.
However, the management staffdid not grant them access.
Per the police report, however, the manager did grant the Tempe
police access for a welfarecheck and it was noted that
Daniel's job had paid his rent.
When authorities went inside,no items seemed to be out of
place or missing.

(08:37):
The common areas were seeminglyclean and well kept.
There was no sign of foul playinside of the apartment.
It was suggested that thepolice request an aerial search
be done by the Civil Air Patrolsearch and rescue assistance.
Four searches over six hours, including sending a second plane
the next day, unfortunatelyleading to no new information

(08:59):
being found.
Daniel's 2017 Blue Jeep Renegadewas eventually discovered in a
ravine by a local rancher.
It was found only a few milesfrom the last known location.
Detectives were sent to thescene.
They discovered there a pair ofjeans inside out, two brown
worktight boots, a faded orangevest with the company logo, a

(09:22):
t-shirt and two socks that wereinside out.
According to the police report, the vehicle quote had
significant damage and a peerjob had a front impact with the
dirt enrolled before resting onthe passenger side.
One piece of the jeep's blackremovable roof was on the ground
, partially wedged under thefront of the jeep.
The driver's front window wasshattered and glass was found on

(09:45):
the ground consistent with thejeep rolling one time.
There was also substantialdamage to the lower front end
and damage to the top of thewindshield and roof.
All of the interior airbagsappeared to have been deployed.
Despite the family's wishes, noforensic testing was done on
the scene because no blood wasfound at the scene, including

(10:08):
Daniel not being found.
Following learning of all theinformation discovered at the
crash site, the family hiredJeff McGrath, a private
investigator.
Jeff had felt that the car'sdamage did not accurately
represent the terrain in whichit was found.
Upon downloading the car'sairbag control module, it was

(10:29):
determined that the car wasstarted at least 40 plus times
after the airbags had alreadybeen deployed.
There was an additional 11miles on the car since the
airbags deployed, implying thatthe car was driven around after
it had crashed.
The system also showed that thecar was likely crashed around
1pm.
This was nearly 4 hours afterhe was last seen.

(10:52):
Multiple areas of Daniel's carwere swapped for touch DNA.
Authorities took both wet anddry swabs of inside the handle
of the driver's side door, thesteering wheel, gear shifter and
push start button.
Rear view mirrors of thevehicle were swapped, the
driver's side seatbelt, and allresults of this testing has not

(11:14):
been released publicly.
The family goes on to hold theirown press conference outside of
the Buckeye Police Department, alongside local community
leaders, to draw more mediaattention to Daniel's case.
A volunteer led searchuncovered human remains.
The family announced on Twitterat Please Help Find 4 that the
remains do not belong to Daniel, but David was hopeful that it

(11:37):
would provide closure foranother family.
On November 23rd of 2021, theFBI was eventually briefed on
Daniel's case.
The Robinson family hold apublic press conference and
David Robinson announces that hehad contacted the Buckeye
Police Department chief hall.
In a letter, the chief repliedstating that he personally
contacted the FBI to join thesearch efforts.

(11:59):
David also announces a newphase of his search, asking the
public and his volunteers toreach out to local mental health
facilities and homelessshelters in their search for
Daniel.
David attended CrimeCon in 2022,which was held in Las Vegas,
nevada, as a featured speaker.
His talk was titled A Father'sFight David Robinson's Search

(12:21):
for His Missing Son, daniel.
He discussed Daniel's case, theongoing work he and his team
were doing and highlights theDaniel Robinson Foundation.
David Robinson, along withother families with missing
loved ones, gather for a day ofremembrance on September 10th of
2022.
To this day, the Robinsonfamily is still actively

(12:42):
searching for Daniel.
While several sets of remainswere found while searching for
him, none of them matched Daniel.
His father has participated innumerous news, media and podcast
interviews in hopes of raisingawareness for his case.
He also conducts frequentsearches of the desert area
where Daniel had gone missing.

(13:02):
Throughout the investigation, the family had to truly activate
for Daniel because the BuckeyePolice Department lacked a sense
of urgency for this case.
The family has created thePlease Help Daniel Advocacy
website and other social mediaaccounts of the same name to
continue sharing Daniel's storyand help raise awareness in

(13:23):
hopes of finding Daniel.
On the Please Help Find Danielwebsite, his father puts out a
statement stating Thank you foryour participation in this
effort.
The goal is to get lawenforcement's attention and
continue action on Daniel's case.
I am working hard in thebackground to get justice for my
son.
Your participation will helpthis move forward.
Please follow me on socialmedia platforms listed and on my

(13:46):

effort and how it helps myongoing fight for justice in
Daniel's case.
My work to find my son is notdone.
I need your continued help anddedication to the cause.
Thank you to all who havecontributed in many forms to
help me continue my fight.
This fight is not in vain.

(14:06):
My son remains missing.
His case is far from a coldcase status.
I need your help to keep lawenforcement from handling it
that way.
I am profoundly thankful for theextraordinary team of
individuals who have come toregard Daniel not just as a part
of their families, but theycherish him as a son, nephew and
friend.
In many ways, daniel embodiesthe essence of America's

(14:28):
children, which is why I viewhim as America's son.
What happened to my familyhappens to families all across
this country.
According to the NationalMissing and Unidentified Persons
Namest Database, more than600,000 people go missing
annually in the United States.
What my family has endured is areflection of the challenges
faced by the countless familiesthroughout our nation's history.

(14:51):
No American should be deniedattention, action or resources
solely because of the color oftheir skin.
This is our collective missionto bridge this gap and ensure
that every missing person, regardless of their background,
receives equal attention andresources.
