In Chapter Three, Eleanor, forced to wed to the Duke of Trevich in order to protect her parents and people of her fief, has become a prisoner of his keep. She discovers friends as well as enemies, and finds a glimmer of hope that she might one day escape the fate the Duke has ordained for her.
Eleanor also learns that not everything is as she expected in the Warlord's keep. Who is this man, fresh from the crusades and leading an army, who has been granted estates by the King? Who are the men who follow him. Eleanor, strong, intelligent, beloved by her parents, and previously coddled by her now-dead brothers, has finally met her match in the Duke of Trevich.
