Speaker 1 (00:00):
You were listening to DC on screen.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Oh, man, welcome into DC on screen. I'm your host,
David c. Robertson. This is Jason Goss. Busy week. The
stupid Superman lawsuit was dismissed.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
That was never and it will always be.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Hey, that's great because Superman comes out July eleventh. Marketing
is really starting to pick up. They put up a
huge digital billboard in New York City Times Square shows Clark,
Kemp and Crypto staring out over the city skate and
you know, doing the whole New York look up thing
they've been putting our clips. I'm seeing toys popping up
(00:39):
on shelves. Looks like there's going to be some sort
of a yetti maybe for them to fight the Fortress
of Solitude. We haven't seen that in anything else.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Why not?
Speaker 2 (00:53):
And yeah, they're actually like they're popping up a nationwide
like people are posting in my little Action Figure groups
on Facebook and stuff like look at this. So I'm like, oh,
look at that Lex and his green purple fighting suit,
which we've been fooled before. We had BBS put out
Mattel put out a Lex in his suit, in his
(01:14):
armored suit. That shit didn't come out that wasn't in
the movie. But you know, they make the toys a
lot of times based on the scripts and the concept
dart and all of that crap, and uh, and then
it doesn't account for last minute changes. And apparently in
BBS that was gonna happen, but then he got leaked somehow,
Jeff Johnson to Kevin Figy. Anyway, what we've been told,
(01:35):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yeah, So I mean I would one use the toys
to just fuck with people anyway, Yeah, like just release
four different villains and make the ones that weren't the
real and rare.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Tem I mean whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
I don't know, you know, to get worried out. You
don't like, if you just want a mess movie, you
don't have to put out a lot of them. They
really can't be rare because if four people find it
when I'm gonna post it, and that'll make a little
story out of it. It just has to get traction
and have like a real actual in the package legitimacy
to it, and then I'll I.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Would think they wouldn't want to do it. The filmakers
wouldn't want to do it too much because you know,
you're already you're already getting like you don't want people's
expectations to be dashed so much, like they're seeing all
these cool toys, like, oh my god, it's a fucking
brainy acing. Oh my god, look they gotta do fucking
parasite and wait a minute, there's too many things in
this movie. Yeah, which brought, by the way, brings me
(02:31):
to this. Uh, can we as a people stop laboring
under this pretense, this delusion, whatever it does, we have
that the general audience.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
I can stop you there, but go ahead continue your
dream anyway.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
We stop acting like the general audience is gonna have this, oh,
this terrible experience. I don't I can't understand the Superman
movie because there's there's a hot girl. Oh who is
this mister terrific? Ah? What is this guy? Gardener? I
was just trying to watch a Superman movie. Oh my god. Look,
these people are gonna go see a Superman film. They
(03:06):
want to see a Superman film. They're gonna be introduced
to other characters who they may or may not be
familiar with from other media. It's a lot like how
they went to the Guardians of the Galaxy to see
cool space ship in the Marvel universe, and they saw
a cool space shit in the Marvel universe while being
introduced to characters who they may or may not be
familiar with from other media. It will be okay.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Yeah, I mean nobody saw you know RDJ and thought
when are we gonna get the raccoon? Immediately? Like that
was not that wasn't even you didn't you know how
divorced we were from that thought.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
I was. I was over there. I mean like, I
saw the trailer.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Taste from here, he's almost a love Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
I saw the trailer the Iron Mailer. I was like,
you're a rocket rack the No, no, I didn't even
think of rocket.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
I would love for you to just be thinking ahead,
like as soon as you saw that, Miss Marvel, I
We're gonna get it any minute.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Yeah. Yeah, I don't think that's been created.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
It doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
I was actually I was sitting there going like, this
is cool, but I wonder how it'll fall apart. I
am shocked that it hasn't and people say, oh, well,
it's not nearly as good as it used to be. Oh,
shut your mouth, it's still doing five these things. You know.
I haven't kept up very well. But you know what,
I just saw that Jessica Jones is going to be
in the next season of Daredevil, and I went, hell yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
I wondered when she'd show up again.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Hell yeah, I'm not man, I just got to catch up.
I'm just behind. I'm not mad. I'm not sitting there going,
oh I am she you you know, those guys could
just fuck right the hell up.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Yeah, that was weird. I'm like, hell yeah, it's been
a weird reaction.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
So anyway, Uh the Superman trailer, Man, let's talk about that.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it got so bad that I had
to google does everyone else feel feel you know, feel
like this kind of thing? And yeah, like the ratings
that were now again were just it's weird to be
in a positive world.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
It is.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
It's weird to be in a positive world where that
doesn't seem to be that much shitting on a thing
that it is. It's strange. It's strange. I'm not used
to it.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
It is cool, and I'm not like with the trailer,
like there's a couple of little bitty things that I'm
just like, I hope they don't do that.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Get out of my life, Dave. I don't need this ship.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
I would bet money, I would bet real money that
you could tell me what my issues which two things
like and it's literally like two things for real.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
You know what I'm gonna I'm actually curious. I'm gonna
play in the background while you're talking, just which I'll
probably do several times while we're doing I'll just I
tend to just hit replay while we're talking. A.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Yeah, but you're not gonna have the audio on and
that's my issue.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Oh well, I don't know. I may have I may
have it decently. Member yea, let's see. Well that's a
good point, is it?
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Dialogue? Is dialogue impossible? Editing of dialogue? I don't know.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
I really would have to.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
You know what, I'll just go ahead and get to it.
I love everything about this trailer, but I know we
will go over a bunch of that. But so there's
a voice over part where PA says, your choices yours,
and so they did that, and then Lex has super
(06:13):
Man that slice not a man, He's an it. And
then he goes, I will not accept that. It's all
just giving Killian Murphy's scarecrow and Batman begins the bat Man.
(06:34):
I just fucking hate that ship. I hate it.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
I don't care any of the extra syllables on that.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Oh oh god. But maybe it might have been edited
in a way to fit the pacing of the trailer
and it also the context of the movie. Might you know,
once I get a feel for the characters, it might
feel completely different than me.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
But I would, I would think it real least, I
mean what I thought you were gonna say in that
in exactly that spot I thought it was. I thought
it was just where he's actually saying, like, you are
your choices and your actions.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Or what was that your choices, your actions, that's what
makes your choices action.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
It took me like three attempts to figure out actions.
I'd assumed that's what he said at some point. That
was just my brain couldn't interpret the word. I thought
that's what you were gonna be, that it was that garbled.
But no, no, if I didn't like the heavy, the heavy,
extra sylbic syllabic take if.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
If if I had a third thing to complain.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
About, listen to it in the back while you're talking.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
If I had a third thing to complain about in
this trailer, it's that they fixed him blinking when the
can hits him in the head. Because now it's reading
as people are like, oh ha ha ha ha ha ha.
They changed it. They changed it. They caved to peer pressure,
and I, you know, gun had defended that, you know,
like why change it? I liked it. It was a
(07:48):
peak of humanity. It was to me, it did not
feel like, oh he felt it and it hurt him
when the can hits the back of his head. It
felt to me like it hurt him emotionally, like it
was feeling the hatred of the of of people for
doing something that he thought was right.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Yeah, but like, all right, so here, I mean, let's
let's I'm gonna watch it that party yet And.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Also why don't why do you like the gnat that
hits me, that flies into my fucking face doesn't hurt me,
but I still flinch a little.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Yeah, but like I don't did he not blink in
the first one?
Speaker 2 (08:19):
He blinked in the first one. He didn't hear they
literally went in and changed it.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
That Like it's that's that's confusing. I mean, I don't
mind the change at all. First of all, I didn't notice,
and I think that's what people are gonna mostly do
is not noticed. But it was. I mean yeah, like
over the over scrutinizing crowd, of course, but man didn't care.
But even then, like I had a I I was
on the side of I would have left that out,
but I was gonna. I was saying, leave out the
(08:43):
fact that his head reacts. I didn't give a shit
about the blinking. The blinking was exactly what you're saying, reflexive.
It makes no difference whatsoever to me that you blink.
The head moving at all would be what I would
have taken.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
It's just, oh, he's just walking and he gets hit.
He gets hit, now, like that's it. Like he doesn't
blink or have any reaction. And you know, I, I'm
more of a petty person. I'm more on the line
of I don't give a fuck, what do you I mean,
I could justify it either way. I don't give a shit,
but I just want the naysayers to not feel like
they got a win.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Yeah, I mean they don't. I mean you can feel
that way. But even if we're gonna let him have
a win, so to speak, it can just be okay, fine,
Like you don't want him to blink, okay, gun Gun's listening. Okay,
he's gonna be there for you, like yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
But these assholes, they're not going to accept it either way.
Like that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
I don't know. I mean, I don't know that they've
ever been actually handed a little bit of an olive
branch here and just maybe okay, we'll remove the blink.
Shut that all up. Listen on one.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Thing that's hilarious, if you'll just watch the hilarious Jason,
the fact that that would be the olive branch that
Gun shows No, I know, just.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
This little thing. I think more people made it into
the theater as a result of Sonic's legs changing. Oh definitely,
just because they were like, okay, all right, I see
you heard me.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
I'll go that was an highly different situation. I agree.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
I'm just saying that, like, if you care about this
enough to be like, oh, the blink, you might actually
care enough to be like, yeah, well alright, I'll be there.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
I watched a I can't remember who it is. I'll
try to James Gunn called him out and I'll post
a link to him. But there was a guy who
due a trailer reaction. My favorite thing that I've seen
was he's just like just being boisterous and loud, talking
about how much he loves Superman. And then he was
just like, he said, this wide shot of Superman in
the trailer being taken into custody, and he's just like
(10:33):
he's like, look at them big ass draws. That's Superman.
What do y'all want?
Speaker 1 (10:44):
He's right, there's probably twenty of that. Man's in my
room somewhere and everywhere I look. Fucking red pants. Yeah,
I mean there's a couple, yeah, but for the most
part it's red pet a couple. I got a couple
of rebirths in Yeah, I'm sure there's a Cat fifty two.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Well, I mean I've got that whole the one thousand
thing over there, that's just era after era, and let
I say it, is it red red red, red red red?
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Red on the very last one. I think in the
nineties he had jeans on.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Oh no, that was that Morrison New fifty two thing.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
That's the one I'm talking about, this one where he's
got like bullet holes on the on the rock behind him,
lows lanes everything, so like.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
It's like blue jeans and a T shirt. Yeah, they couldn't. Yeah,
that was New fifty two before he got into the.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
Well, that's the only one that I can't tell you
for sure whether it does have red under the dinum. Probably,
I assume you might know, But.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
I mean, all I can say is yes, miss Lane,
I like Pink very much. Now, anyway, we should talk
about this trailer.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Actually, I could almost go frame for frame how much
I started to adore it as it came.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Oh yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Mean, I mean genuinely, the very first bit. My god,
I see why I chose their their conversation here to start.
It's it's just this is exactly the kind of engaging
bullshit I wanted.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Out of these two.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
She is, she's so practical. She's selling everything that she
I mean, she's completely selling her side of the story.
I believe their argument.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
It's wonderful.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
It's just wonderful. But god, he looks so fucking thickly
like super I don't know how to describe it. In
the chair, the man looks like he's fucking students. Man,
he's a giant block that that looks like the things
around him are are He's having to be careful. I
love the just even that little piece of it.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Yeah, I love starting out with Lois and Clark doing
this interview where it progresses. The as it progresses, the
music is the philosophy of yeah as the As the
scene progresses, the music is more and more intense and
feels like we're watching more action than we actually are,
and it's it's just so telling of who these two
are and what their relationship is at the moment. And
(12:56):
there the attitude Superman has like he's he's trying to
bring sort of Midwestern navete about him. Yeah, like he
handles about how he handles himself on the world stage.
It's just brilliant, man, Like I love it, Like I'm
already seeing I was.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
She's pushing the fuck out of him the whole time,
like he tries to like it's I mean not no,
it's a lot, dude, Like she's not gonna let him go.
That's my fucking lowest right there.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
I am already seeing I was Ride a couple of
years ago when I said Rachel brosne E would be
the best lowest Lane ever. She has already got me. Like, first,
first of all, that might.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
Be a neat if you're James Gun, that might be
a neat thing to have like just showing that we
haven't seen her until now. What she was like kissing
himself I think in the teaser, but like this is
the first time we really got to see her do anything.
It's an obvious, obvious win. Imagine the win if you're
James Gun just knowing that whatever else you don't even have,
you don't have to worry about this one. It's in
the bank. I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna follow over
(13:50):
their four secondsinder being on the screen. If it takes
that long, it's gonna be wonderful.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Such a weapon and that Okay, that voice change when
when he says miss Lane, like yeah, that was dope.
I got chills, I got goosebumps. Yeah, but they God.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
I love when he starts to get a miss like
people are gonna die.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Well, like I love before that.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
That's that's where I started to get really invested. That's
a dude, who fuck it?
Speaker 2 (14:13):
Oh he came, dude, I got that. I got the
goose bumps on that. Before he says that, when he
like smirks or whatever, she's like, oh you find that funny,
and he goes my actions. I stopped a war. She said,
maybe and he goes, oh, not, maybe I did not.
Maybe it's like, Dick, like, you are so overconfident about this,
(14:33):
and she's well, I mean, but that's what's gonna be
fun about this. I'm like, I see it is, but
and she's like, in effect, they.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
Show the footage right then they've got the receipts on
the trailer. Yeah, he's yeah, clearly.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
And she says in affect, you illegally entered the country.
And then he's like upset. He's like, this is how
you're gonna be She's like, I'm not the one being
interviewed Superman. Like, I love how she's trying to steer
this away from him, taking it personally and pointing out
with that this is on Superman, that this isn't a
conversation between Lois and Clark. It is an interview between
(15:05):
an unbiased reporter who is damn good at her job
and Superman who has done some possibly in the eyes
of the public and the United States government, some agreed
to shit.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Yeah, well it will be made to look like that
and be made to have taken that to be taken
that way. But she also and I think she's gonna
end up being kind of the architect of how he
goes about like how he comports himself. You know, like
she's gonna be the one who's just strategic enough to
actually get her head around the politics of how to
go about being Superman Clark can At the same time,
(15:39):
I think she's the one who's gonna give him playbook,
like oh.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
Yeah, god yes. And it feels like it feels so
much like the Jeff Lobe comics where you had Batman
and Lois kind of being Superman's common sense sometimes just
being like, dude, you're getting your own way. Fuck stop this, dude.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Yeah, she occasionally she's dealing with a fucking farm boy sometimes,
and her patience tells you that.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
How do you like this? When Lois says when she says,
have you did you consult with the president about interfering
in that war? Like when you when she said did
you consult with the president? It cuts two les. Yeah,
is that foreshadowing? Are they fucking with us? Like? Is
it is he? We don't actually know is he president
in this movie? I don't think he will be. Yeah,
but I can't imagine they're not gonna head that way somewhere.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
Yeah, I didn't see like they have him in the
so all the stuff around him is very much the
tech guru side of things. Right now, there's nothing, they
didn't flash anything presidential, but his ambitions and this trailer
are very very much are very clearly that high anyway.
I think Gunner Guardy told us this, like his motivation
is just gonna be that his ego cannot stand how
(16:48):
hard he's working. And this guy just swoops the fucking
He has done all this bullshit with his own fucking
bare hands, and this guy just flies literally flies the
fucking and does stuff. Oh help him, And yeah, I
mean that's gonna be fun.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
A wet yeah, but yeah. I loved like when she
asks him if he consulted the president, and he like,
he's like a little kid.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
He's like, no, man, you're gonna she.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Says, you seemingly acting as a representative of the United
States blah blah blah, will cause more problems around the
world something. And he's like, I wasn't representing anybody except
for me and doing good. And she's like, I would
question myself in the same situation to consider the consequences
people were going to die. Like I love this conversation.
I want to see the context. I want to see
more of it. It's just great. But then like we're
(17:31):
also getting you know, Superman being dropped into the pavement manhandled, Yes, manhandled,
dropped into the pavement, like but the dude like like
a normal person helping Superman up out of the crater, Like.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
Oh yeah about I had to stop and I thought
I was maybe gonna have stopp and cry on that
when I watched it, you know, hurriedly watched it on
my phone in the twenty minutes after it dropped. Right, Yeah,
that I can't I can't even tell you how much
I love it that he's you know, foot forward version
in the trailer is just a moment where some dude
just sees him and like, what the fuck else would
(18:07):
you do? That's the right, that's the only thing you
can Superman's down, go in there and get him out.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
Absolutely, you can't.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
Absolutely like got in there and pretend to help. I
don't know, Superman, what are you gonna sit there?
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Did you notice when Superman is being taken into custody
the street, he's on his Wade Street as in ryder
Mark waits. Yeah. Uh, we got a lot of you know,
the Justice Gang Lord Maxwell Lord's Justice Gang whatever we're
calling them, Stag industry stuff. In the background, there's a
point where like Lois says, the Secretary of Defense is
(18:40):
looking into his actions, and when she says Secretary of Defense,
it cuts to Rick Flagg Senior. So I'm kind of
wondering if he's the Secretary of Defense in this movie
that would be weird or if he I would assume
what it actually is in indicating is that Rick Flagg
Senior is going to be the person that the Secretary
of Defense sends after, uh, Superman.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
Maybe what is he a Peacemaker too?
Speaker 2 (19:03):
Ahead of Argus now of Argust?
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Okay, okay, so he may just be, yeah, a mechanism there.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
Yeah, I mean he's running around, looks like he's got,
you know, a bunch of Lex Corp soldiers with him,
So I don't know, I don't know. It's hard to
say what they're doing.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
And he's gonna be treated with all I say, a
different tone. It will be a different tone, like even
even gun being in charge. Peacemaker and the Superman are
gonna be slightly yeah, like yeah, I think you'll see
just maybe a slightly more lude version of his version
of justice over there versus here.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Uh. We got to see the Engineer with her badass
nanotach blades and saws cutting through Kryptonian robots. That made
me feel a little sad, honestly.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
Yeah, I don't like watching those guys good. Uh, but damn,
she looks good.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
She looks really cool.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Fighting that is gonna be a That's gonna be a fight.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Superman in the Metropolis Meteors baseball Field with Ultra Man
that looks dope as fuck too. Hell yeah, that mor
Fo in the cell, he's either holding Kryptite or his
hand is kryptonite. I'm guessing the latter. They've got him
in the cell with suit that they're putting Superman in,
and it looks like next door there's like a lady
in pink and some people are saying that looks like
(20:18):
black orchid. I don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
I tried to pause it on her and get some
sense of it, but I really don't have a clue.
It's just not enough that I could tell. I mean,
there was a glance where it almost looked like just
the I don't know whatever about the pink dress or
money of what's the name from.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
New Patrol yow. Okay, yeah, I was just.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
I mean I almost saw it was like a dark hair
and a dress for that. But before that, Crypto, what
about him?
Speaker 2 (20:43):
Which one him fighting Engineer?
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Yeah, just a quick shout out to him going going
at her? Yeah, good boy.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
Yeah, I threw a lot of my crap down out
of my head without like going through it bit by bit.
So yeah, I apologize.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Well, I went back to look at that one spot
and saw Crypto and just wanted to bring it up.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
Justs that's fine, that's fair.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
The sheer excitement of seeing Crypto fucking out.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
I noticed when they have like the shots of Superman
fighting the Kaiju, they've got a sign that's a big
belly Burger sign behind the Kaiju, and they also have
a big screen with the news on and that is
Will Reeves. That's that's Chris Reeve's son.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
Hmm.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
So that was kind of cool. That was cool to
see that.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
It's a nice shut out.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Yeah. So the primary guy he's fighting is the Hammer
of Bravia. Looks like a dude straight out of a
Jack Kirby comic, honestly, But I know a few weeks
ago I thought this guy would be the lex Suit.
Turns out it's the Hammer of Bravia. Remember there were
the shots of the newspaper that headlined the Hammer of
Bravia and footage. That's who we're talking about. There's a
(21:47):
pretty good chance the Hammer is in Metropolis to take
revenge on Superman because he interviewed in the war that
Clark and Lewis are talking about or fighting about that
during that interview. Interesting thing about the Hammer, though, there
is there have been solicitations for a Superman book kid's
book called Superman Friends and Foes and the Hammer, the
(22:10):
Hammer of Bravia is on the cover of it. And
he's got a certain design on his chest. His chest
is black and it's got a gold it looks like sunbeams.
And then he's got a silver im that's to the side.
And I'll be damned if it doesn't look like a
whole hell of a lot at least like Nuclear Man
(22:31):
from Superman. Yeah, yeah, I don't know. It might just
be a red herring, but that seems.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Of the sparkly moment.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
It seems very intentional. The color scheme is gold and
black and silver, and the logo looks very very close
I don't know, but yeah, if you go back to
that sneak peek they put out a few weeks ago
where we first see that that the Hammer of Bravia.
If you play with the it's in the dark, but
if you play with the lightning levels you can see
that logo on his chest. So that's not just in
(22:59):
a book, that's in the movie.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
Yeah, we have, I revealed it it would appear, so.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
We had uh in Clark's room. We had this a
Smallville Giants pennant. This is like orange and Yellow Clark's
high school football team, straight out of like his Letterman
jacket and the Man of Still number one by John Byrne.
We also have he has a poster in his room
of the Mighty crab Joys, which is a fictional band
that was on Frankenstein's shirt and a flashback on Creature
Commandos and it's also on a sign and see in
(23:27):
the Peacemaker season two trailer. That's okay, the Mighty crab Joys.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
We're gonna count on an appearance up from them in
like episode six of Piece Makers and I guess so
some concert where they all get killed for whatever reason.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Here was the thing and like the first time. Like
I watched it several times, and I don't feel like
I saw this every time, but if I stare at
it long enough, and definitely the first one, the first
time I saw this, Martha seems Martha Kent seems a
little underfoot here, like, oh, I cleaned your but I
cleaned your boots, sir, I'll fetch him. Like this bitch
saw brightburn and she ain't playing with this justice spit monster.
(24:05):
She's terrified of her son.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
Trying to get away.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
That was my first reaction was like, oh, like what
was that? And then I got to look back at
it and like, Okay, she's just you know, something's going on.
There's something happening. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
I didn't get much out of that scene. It's just
it's just that, like he sees something and you know,
mom's being some Yeah, but like if anything, if anything,
there was a glance of I had one spare thought
that she was maybe just trying to get him out
of the house before he did all this speed round
bullshit and messed up.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Up.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
Yeah, just fuck up the farmhouse again. Just let me
get your boots for you. You go outside.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Yeah, that's funny. I didn't even consider that.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
I just mopped. I just fucking mocked.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
I did laugh at eve Test Mocker posing for a
selfie with hammer fighting soups in the background.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Is that who that was?
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah that was fun. Of course I had
to pause that on Metamorpho using his powers.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
I did too, and he looks fantastic.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
Yeah, what else you have on this trailer? Man, I'm
gonna move on to his trailer feedback.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Most of the shots are gonna be mentioned the feedback.
It's just a shot for shot. Genuinely, I didn't see
anything that I was not about here, Like, it just
looks like it's telling a fun story.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
I like that we're gonna be in the middle of
a universe it's already built, or we're gonna play with
Like we're not gonna have to do some of the origin.
I just he's designed a very exciting programm Force and
and god, I was happy to see this thing work
so well.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
I I don't feel like it's been.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
Oh there's Cray, Yeah, they're time there. They're gonna die.
What You're just a.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
Fictional band that's throughout the universe. Man, they don't have
to die.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
I just feel like it's just gonna be brought up later.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
Yeah, maybe a peacemaker. Yeah yeah, like they're gonna say
something about Hannoi Rocks and fuck you up about you know. Yeah, yeah,
I don't think it might. I think it's gonna be
less fun than and a lot of people can assume
it will be. Like they are setting up some interesting
stuff that let's be honest, you know, I'm not I'm
(26:06):
not saying there's a rip off situation going here, but
uh yeah, this is their their tackle on something that
Zach tried to do and just and bvs honestly, where
like Superman just you know, drops his dick into a
into a country without asking anybody, and he's gonna do
something you.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Know that seems the best, right, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Hopefully you know, Warner Brothers gives James gun the breadth
and the and the birth to do his version of
it like they should have done with Zach.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
But I think James is also using an important tactic here.
This thing looks fun and yes, there's a lot of
stuff he's gonna do there and and uh, you know,
starting with Superman yelling people are gonna die in defending
himself as there's a whole there's a whole lot of
stuff unpacked there, but starting with Superman doing the yelling
about I was gonna save them, and that's what he's
mad about. Is smart given how some other things went down,
(27:01):
and like, yeah, he's going to drag him some shit,
but he's he made it look fun for him. Yeah,
it's just just good tactics after what we've thin. That's
just a good call.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
Yep. By the way, when there's a quick scene where
Jimmy is I don't know, doing batting, swiping or something
at Clark, they're playing around. Yeah, I saw some people
posting pictures like a close up of Jimmy's screen and
saying that they saw Martian Manhunter. I could see how
they were saying it. Other people said that look like
(27:28):
Jimmy was taking a picture with Peacemaker, had a picture
with peace Maker on his desk. I don't know. It
looked like it kind of to me that, but you know,
it could also just I don't know, be anyone else.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
I see a picture behind him of him and what
looks like maybe his family or something.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
I mean, there's a lady and there's someone who's wearing
a red shirt that has like a yellow thing in
the middle that looks like peacemaker kind of. But on
the computer screen there's a picture that the people are
saying looks like Martian Manhunter. I can kind of see it, yeh,
I can.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
I can kind of see that. I mean I managed
to pols it just throw at my moment, so I've
got a good decent shot here. The only thing that's
clear is that he has what looks like a borderline
home colored pencil drawing of Superman on the test behind it.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
Well, yeah, there's a uh there's there's a corkboard uh
in in the same scene, the same shot that has
like there's like a little Superman.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Plush little Superman doll hanging on there.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
There's like Superman plushy and it was like a there's
like a drawing of Superman flying looks like it's from
All Star. And then there's also like, yeah, it looks like.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
That's his little colored pencil look.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Yeah. Then there's like what looks like a shot from
the Brian Azarello Jim Lee uh story that happened with
the Jim Lee where he's like standing on the rooftop
with the you know, I'm talking about my It's fine
that the cape float flowing.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
The billowing cape. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's in. That's one
of the shots in my bathroom puzzle.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Yeah. Yeah, So it's interesting. I don't know. I wonder
if in the universe are gonna have like Superman cartoon
and comic books and stuff.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
I mean, the logo on the doll on the wall
is his logo. Yeah, yeah, these are there's this Superman
has merching out there, chilling.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
All right.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
They haven't started messing with his style design yet.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Let's move into some Superman trailer feedback over on Patreon,
Doctor Steve of Weird Medicine, longtime friend of ours and patron, says,
I pray I live long enough, Lovely man, I pray
I live long enough to see this movie. It looks incredible.
I have faith in James gun Well, Jesus christ Man.
I hope you live long enough to see it too.
It's only a couple months away. Anything we need to know, God, Yeah,
(29:39):
that was sounded dire.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Yeah, if it's that bad, we'll count there. We'll try
to steal an early copy.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
Yeah. I have my my, my connections, you know, I'm
on threads, you.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Know, and I can I mean, I don't have any connections.
But if I know where it.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
Is, I can at James Gunn and we'll see what
we can do.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
It might be a funny enough story to buy me
some sense of safety in prison.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
I'm not gonnattempt to steal anything could try. I too
want to see this thing over. On the DCL Screen
podcast Facebook group, Andre Sparks says, just from a trailer,
I can see that this movie is going to have
so much heart. I like that he's not completely ope.
I'm not sure what that means, but you overpowered. Okay, okay,
I thought it meant original poster and that that didn't sound.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
Right, and that would have been the Reddit one.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
This reminds me of my adventures with Superman. This Superman
has to go up against not just Lex, but the
mindset that people have in today's world, that you support
or represent one brand or country, instead of seeing that
we were all on the same planet and we have
to support and protect each other because we are all
together to help us all be better. I love seeing
Clark have emotion. I love seeing the boy scout in him.
(30:53):
You can sense the jealousy and Lex. I definitely see
Lex's point, but again, overall, if he worked with Superman,
he could get so much more done, but he asked
to be the star. Lastly, Lois Lane is a star already.
I love seeing the journalist side of her. I think
she may end up being on my top three Lowis
Lane list. In summary, I am hyped and I am
probably going to watch the trailer again. I've watched it
(31:14):
like twenty five times. Andre, I'm not gonna lie. I
watched it a lot.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
There's a couple of good points in. There are things
that it reminds me of to So Superman does get
his ass kick this whole time. This whole trailer, like
it ends, the last shot is him triumphantly running up
into the sky only to fall back down. So it's
not it's not like a super Yeah, he's right open,
(31:39):
he's not in the cards. He's getting to ask Peet
the whole time. But was also struck me is like
all of his coords here just doing fine, like they
have a nice power shot and then chilled in the
middle of the sky looking like they've just kind of
owned the battle a little bit. But yeah, it he
did not get the same treatment. We're not gonna get
a guy who's just winning this thing or holding back. Yeah,
he's definitely got his work.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Dude. I love that shot of Fillian's guy Gardner just
kind of flicking his hand and like that. Yeah, dude,
that was awesome.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Another another point in there, though the we didn't bring
up the I wasn't representing anybody, just myself and like
the idea of doing good.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
Yeah, I did bring that up.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
A simple a simple line, A wonderful theists, did you sorry?
Simple line, wonderful thesis that. Yes, I just hell of
a way to start this fucking universe.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
Ah yeah, I love it. Over in the Stranded Panda
Facebook group, Don Carrezis says, looking forward to this very much.
Ron Ken Trowitz says looks fantastic. Big fan of James Gunn.
He always delivers in unexpected ways. TJ. Stafford says, I
hate that I can only like this once. Holy shit
to lie cannot come fast enough. Patrick Doherty Yeah, says
(32:45):
I cannot wait for this movie. Russell Brill says, okay,
now I'm interested. Uh. Pete Griham Junior says the fact
that we are getting Superman with a personality is very exciting.
I have no idea what you're talking about Buddy. I
guess Pete's from an alternate reality where they had a
Superman that had no personalities. Point over the threads. Take
(33:06):
that Cavil slander man.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
There's like, yeah, there's a part of me that gets
like it doesn't like Cavil's Superman doesn't feel like he's
gonna tell good jokes at a party. That like, I
there's a bit of that. I get like, I don't
feel like i'd have him on my improv team.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
Oh no, when Lois says welcome to the planet, and
you know that's a double meaning he did laugh.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
I'm not saying he can't appreciate it. I'm not saying
I can't appreciate it. It's just some people are fun
super for funny.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
Yeah, sometimes those are different people. Yeah maybe, I mean
I'm not exactly looking for, you know, Larry David or
something like. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (33:38):
No, I wouldn't either. I wouldn't either. I just but
I do Mark one mark A difference here is that
this one seems like he's gonna take the piss a
little bit out of himself, and others more like actually
take a take a beat to throw out some jokes.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
So that's like a whole conversation on an episode of
Seinfeld where George is like, I'm telling you he's not funny,
and Jerry's like, but why would that he's super in
every aspect like the Yellow Sun makes them all, you know,
why would that one that one aspect not be affected.
George is like, I don't know, but he's not funny. Yeah, yeah,
(34:10):
he's got to have superhumor.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
I mean, let's put it this way, like if you
were going to do kind of your own sit around
with some popcorn and M S T. Three K movie,
you know, Clark isn't like gonna he's He's gonna be
like fun to have there, but he's not gonna be
a huge contributor to the really good parts of making
fun of this movie, which I which may be unfair
because he is a reporter after all, but I feel
like he just is more of a stick to the
facts guy off.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
I don't know, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
I mean we have like in the Justice League, there's
spaces where there's people that are the ones to throw
out jokes more often, and then you got flashes and
lanterns for these kinds of things. Even some boards, but
not so much. Not some soups and.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
Side I do. I do like pop back like he's
got his own gentle humor like oh yeah prompted, Yeah,
like what And again it goes back to that Jeff
Flow arc where you know, basically Batman and Lois of
just we can't be having President Lex Luthor have fucking
kryptonite ring and you just do whatever fuck he wants
(35:06):
to with it. We got and we told Clark he
needs to do something about it. Clark's like, I'm not
doing that. Ship. He's fine, whatever, it's the President. I've
got to respect the office. He Lewis and Bruce cococked
this whole big plan, lie their asses off to Superman
break it, contact Black Lightning, who was head of the
(35:27):
Secret Service. They do a whole thing break into the
White House through a tour and all sorts of ship
get into the Oval Office like freaking out how to
break into that. They open the door and Superman's just
standing in the Oval office staring at them as they
open the door, with a big grin on his face
like uh huh uh huh, what y'all think was gonna happen? Yeah,
to me, that's that's that's.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
I remember that, or night Wing wearing Batman's costume and
getting that that getting a chuckle out of Clark like
or just even like Cryptot like I forgot about the dog. Yes, clarking,
that's funny. He has a wonderful sense of humor. Not
a knock at all. I'm just saying, I don't think
this isn't guy who's got like a tight five in
him that he just thinks about in the shower and
has to get out.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
If someone were to write that scene, it would be
one of us. Yes, all right, it's over on Threads.
Flash Art eighty eight says I loved it. It captures
not just Clark but Lois and Lex perfectly. I'm also
really worried that something, anything bad will happen to Crypto,
and I will not be happy if it does.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
I shared the sentiment the shirt I chose today was
gonna take me home with Crypto on. I had the choice.
Both were clean that and the clean royal blue with
the with the logo.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
And I'm wearing a Randy Blues Brothers shirt. There you go,
but it's comfortable.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
But yeah, this morning I was like, nah, Crypto, Yeah,
I've had. I have the same feelings of trepidation and
some some borderline borrowing anxiety here about what might happen
to that dog. Sure, I didn't even like it that
the dog leapt into the fight and she was mad
about it. Right, that makes me nervous. I don't like that.
Run Run, buddy, run.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
I think it's weird that Clark didn't tell almost that
he had a dog.
Speaker 1 (37:04):
I think it's that that's a big conversation.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
If that dog that's true, that's true.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
Uh, Like you're probably just getting here used to the
idea that, like, if you are sitting on a couch,
whether that you won't accidentally just pulverize her, And then like, oh,
I got a puppy that has the same power. But
he's cool.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
He's cool.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
I promise, promise.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
Our buddy pud three three three says, Yes, this hits
every note that you would want it to hit for
a Superman film. It looks exactly like a James Gunn
Superman film would look like if you ran it through
an AI. Yeah. If it was revealed later that Superman,
Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy were all part
of a similar universe, it wouldn't surprise me at all.
That's not a bad thing. I'm not criticizing it. I'm
(37:45):
looking forward to it since I love Superman. But what
I'm saying is this is a known quantity. Audience is
familiar with his Guardians of the Galaxy stuff will easily
switch over to see Superman. And that's good news for
DC Studios in my opinion, regardless of how I feel
in terms of the trailer not knocking my socks off.
And I had to ask what could they have done
to knock your socks off? And he says, to be honest,
the action looked pretty basic. But I'd rather be surprised
(38:06):
in the theater. It did enough and showed enough. I
watched the trailer a couple of times, so I feel
like it's a good reaction from PUD, but not not
you know, Gangbusters. It didn't knock his sock off, you know.
Fieof Elders says, holy shit that trailer.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
Fuck.
Speaker 2 (38:22):
I want this injected into my veins. Now I've watched
it three.
Speaker 1 (38:26):
Times, a level approach.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
I wanted to end it on this very positive note.
Uh if he says, I've now watched it three times,
including once on half speed for the quick cuts. Damn
that people were going to die isn't going to make
me cry in context the fucking acting. I also love
that corn Sweat looks younger and also less perfect if
they if that makes sense. He's a handsome guy who
(38:51):
you could see with Brosna hand shore, but his face
got a little fat and his cheeks still He's not
as chiseled as Cavil was. I appreciate the just a
farm boy from Kansas vibes. I agree with all those Yes,
she's got a point there, Yeah, I agree with all
of those things. All right. So moving on to some
other news in within the Superman group. Here at part
(39:13):
of me was like, do we have to why?
Speaker 1 (39:16):
I waited a long time for this thing, and I
just want to stare at it more.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
I mean, you can't. Anthony Kerrigan, who's plays Metamorpho, says
of he's on the DC Studios Showcase official podcast.
Speaker 1 (39:30):
Yes talking, I did that, and he was.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
He says, it's incredible. I mean, just to know they're
getting litt glimpses. I love that it's just the tip
of the iceberg. There's so much more that I get
to do in this movie, and it's such fun stuff.
Just to tease it out little by little is my favorite. Yeah,
I want to see all the stuff that he's going
to do.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
He he has this little story about how he really
so he's going to do like a chemical reaction at
some point. You saw that in the trailer. They've got
a little still of him doing some chemics, some chemistry.
He said that he just how he processes, how he
does his you know, his process order. He wanted to
know more about it, so he said there was like
he was quizzing somebody that or some scientists that he
(40:08):
knew or something like that about like what would what
would actually be involved what they do?
Speaker 2 (40:11):
How does it?
Speaker 1 (40:12):
He said, like, don't be surprised if you can actually
see me on screen screen kind of muttering a few
chemicals under my breath, because like it was important to
me for it to be real in a way. Okay,
soundsworthing I like that of him just on this like
on set, just going phosphorus Phosphor's.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
Yeah. When I asked which comics he had read for inspiration,
he says, basically whatever I could get my hands on.
It was really important to me, and I think it
was also one of the reasons James hired me is
because this character in particular, has this real kind of
pathos to him, and unlike a lot of superheroes, he's
not crazy about the fact that he's a superhero. He
feels cursed, but what he has and so I really
(40:44):
kind of bring something to that and it really lit
a fire.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
Yeah, he was enjoying that. They asked him later about, well,
how did that compared his ass who's just enjoying it? Oh,
that's very different.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
Skyler Gazando was on the same podcast, DC Studio show
based podcast, It's a mouthful, y'all, just to let's just
to let you know it's a lot, and he was
talking about how he and Cornsba became friends get the
chemistry working, and uh, he says, David and I got
the opportunity to hang out a bit before we started
filming and kind of just became friends. And our scenes,
(41:19):
the little stuff we have together, we really are just buddies.
There's a real ease to it. It's an opportunity to
see the human side of Superman. Also, he David so yoked,
he's huge in this movie and I feel like I
gave him the opportunity to talk to another dude with
a similar body. This is a guy playing Jimmy Olsen, y'all,
and he was totally joking. He says he gets to
(41:40):
relax a.
Speaker 1 (41:40):
Guy who is if if forgive me, if I suggest it,
a bit type cast as smile, slightly diminutive guys in
his acting career that I've seen.
Speaker 2 (41:48):
He says he gets to relax because very rarely does
he meet another dude that also lifts and gets it
in his jacked, so he kind of bro down in
that way.
Speaker 1 (41:57):
Yeah, he's a funny guy.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
All right. And this is a weird little thing, but
uh it did. There was a cute video attached to
it that I meant to send you and I forgot
to but I'm sorry. I'll do that soon. But it's
a milk Bone commercial. No, I actually seen it.
Speaker 1 (42:17):
I think I saw on on Reddit something, Yeah, because
like they want no idiot. It was like I saw
that yesterday and thought, oh, we made it hours into
that trailer before before trailer, I forget what even happened.
I just saw it. Great.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
Well. The only thing that's like really notice notable in
that in that milk Bone trailer is mister Terrific jumping
around and throwing treats to Crypto.
Speaker 1 (42:37):
That's that's prettyod.
Speaker 2 (42:38):
But yeah, they're doing like a big bit, like the
Superman's doing a big thing with milk Bone and they're
launching a collaboration and there's like Superman themed biscuit boxes
and an exclusive tie in comic. You know, I did, now, Look,
I did go to the milk Bone online store. I
was supposed to be able to like find the the
twelve page digital comic, and uh, it took me to nothing.
(43:01):
It took me to a four o four page I
don't know what's going on with that.
Speaker 1 (43:04):
Oh, somebody else already found out.
Speaker 2 (43:06):
It was that it was a little weird. So uh, anyway, they're, yeah,
they're doing a whole campaign with Crypto, and you should
be able to order the biscuits or whatever from the
limited edition Superman box biscuits.
Speaker 1 (43:20):
I don't know, Like I want to say that's a
weird sponsor, but like just guessing that they've rolled this
into a shelter dog charity kind of situation, knowing that's
something that Gun thinks about and is basing cryptof a
dog who was basically a risky No, he's a resky.
Speaker 2 (43:37):
Yeah he is.
Speaker 1 (43:38):
Yeah, definitely is a right, Yeah, is not a shelter risk.
I forget how he met I.
Speaker 2 (43:43):
Think he met him out. He met him at a
soup kitchen. They were they were listening to Edith Keeler
talk about how one day men were going to reach
for the stars.
Speaker 1 (43:53):
Maybe. I was just wonderings, like if your Jame's going
to how do you like My two dogs are are
from like a party and a workplace, both of which
are just in an area where we're like, this dog
needs a home, Like we just grabbed him because because
they needed to be somewhere. Yeah, But like how often
is gun in a place where he's like, oh, this
dog is gonna die if I don't just grab it.
Speaker 2 (44:14):
Like, yeah, I don't. I don't actually remember where he
found that dog.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
I imagine you would have to actually go to a sheltered.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
Yeah, And he's always just said he's a rescue as
far as I know.
Speaker 1 (44:21):
I just realized that's not like a thing in James
Gunn's life. It's never occurred to me before. He's just
not going to be like across a railroad track constantly
and see a dog for three days ago. That dog's
just gonna have to come with me. I've seen it
three days in a row.
Speaker 2 (44:31):
Yeah, he's a busy to be surprised. Maybe you know
he's on location. It's falbarred. You know, there's a train track,
there's a dog, you know, who knows? Maybe who knows.
Speaker 1 (44:41):
I'm just imagining. I'm just not giving him credit for
doing the terrestrial type habits that got me the two dogs.
I imagine he has other grander things maybe and has
to order out his rescue dogs I don't know, instead
of retrieving them themselves accidentally like I did.
Speaker 2 (44:56):
Well, Hooker, Buck crook Man, what have you got to do?
Right right, We're gonna get to Peacemaker season two trailer
after these words. I've got a pe So be back
in a minute. All right, we are back, and uh,
holy crap that Peacemaker season two trailer. Can we talk
about that now? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (45:18):
Yeah, I got it's like going on. It's like going
on this week. Kind of glad you're gonna break this
down for me too, because I barely had time to
process it.
Speaker 2 (45:27):
All right, So, I mean there's not a lot. I
mean this the teaser trailer has uh ado or out
of Bayo. However, you say her.
Speaker 1 (45:35):
Name, uh, I think it's the second.
Speaker 2 (45:38):
I think she's dropping Peacemaker off for a secret meeting.
Looks like it's sort of a recruitment job interview type
of thing for the Justice Gang. I don't know if
we're calling him Justice League or whatever, but it's you know,
hot girl Maxwell Lord played by shotgun Guy Gardner's green
Lantern and they are asking Peacemaker questions and he's talking
(46:00):
about how he's like a fine, he's the finest marksman
in the world and bloody nada da da, and they
like they're flipping her on and off the microphone and
they turned heat well gun things. Gun Maxwell Lord thinks
he turns off the mic and they're over there talking
about like eating popcorn like hot girls worried about her
ass getting big. Guy Gardner is, you know, shit talking
(46:25):
Peacemaker like how long this guy sucks? Like I want
to leave most of blah blah blah uh And Peacemaker's like, hey, dude,
am I supposed to be able to hear you? And
they're like what He's like, oh, you're talking about your
ass and you're talking about how I suck. And then
like Guy Gardner starts laughing, yeah, and I swear my
My favorite part of this trailer is the fact that
(46:48):
Uh gun like Maxwell Lord is like, it's stop funny
right before Peacemaker storms.
Speaker 1 (46:56):
Out like his annoyance had his own career.
Speaker 2 (46:59):
Yeah, but it's a night lead in to out of
Ao Uh saying I don't get it. We saved the world,
and we have this like montage of them and where
they are where she's saying we save the world. Vigilanti
says I thought everyone would finally treat us like heroes.
And then a scene where Autabaya say is I don't
need anyone else, I'll just forge my own path. Economos
says you are living in the worst level of grand
(47:19):
theft Auto, which is I. I love that line too,
And then we get the therapist to Harcourt, I've come
to the conclusion you suffer from a particularly severe form
of toxic masculinity.
Speaker 1 (47:31):
She's like, what just destroyerstroyer car?
Speaker 2 (47:35):
Yeah. Second favorite thing in this in this trailer tim Meadows.
Speaker 1 (47:40):
Oh, it's a treasure to say. I could not have
been happier.
Speaker 2 (47:43):
Tim Meadows, MEXICALI you scan for any anominies throughout that house,
pony boy, don't let them out of your sight. Titties.
I want you to take the front door, and Sino man,
you take the back door. Dude, you can't just call
us that where you think you are, fucking Berkeley. Yeah, dude,
I love Tim Meadows so much.
Speaker 1 (48:01):
Yeah, like, it's been a long time since I heard
I've really heard his delivery.
Speaker 2 (48:06):
I mean, like, honestly, like the last two seasons, and.
Speaker 1 (48:08):
It was perfect here.
Speaker 2 (48:09):
It was perfect the last two seasons of The Goldbergs
and that entire season of Schooled, which was a spin
off of The Goldbergs. Tim Meadows carried that shit on
his back.
Speaker 1 (48:21):
You know, I believe that that's probably true. I only
saw The Goldbergs when it was just sort of on
the phone next to me while my wife was watching it.
Speaker 2 (48:28):
So it was solid for afe.
Speaker 1 (48:30):
I like the show, just fine. It was just one
of those that never made it to my I'm gonna
sit down and do this right. And I did see
he was there and that you had to remind me
of that. I don't remember him except for like my childhood,
you know, afternoon SNL Relies.
Speaker 2 (48:44):
It was a fine show until the end, basically like
season seven, and it is notable that season seven is
when Adam Goldberg took his fucking name off of the
created by.
Speaker 1 (48:58):
That doesn't sound like something that went down. Mm hmm.
That's that's not It's usually not good.
Speaker 2 (49:03):
But but yeah, ten Meadows carried that ship for a
few years.
Speaker 1 (49:06):
And uh yeah, but yeah, his cadence is just fucking
perfect here.
Speaker 2 (49:10):
Dude, just when he's a titties, I just do. I
crack up every time I watched that one.
Speaker 1 (49:17):
Killed That one pretty well killed me. Yeah, and you know,
just because he just because he happened to show up
where I was when I was thinking about it. But
like mid Landing, nothing real special here except he's just
gonna be. He's gonna be basically the same, but more
incorporated this time. Still still one too short.
Speaker 2 (49:39):
Mm hmmm.
Speaker 1 (49:41):
So we've got But is he a character that's meant
to develop? Let's be real here. I think he's supposed
to stay arrested the whole time.
Speaker 2 (49:47):
I don't know. I wouldn't put anything past gun, I mean,
I agree, I just know he's gonna make us care
about everything.
Speaker 1 (49:54):
Yeah, he's got me worried about this, damn eagle.
Speaker 2 (49:56):
Yeah, I get you, sweet little eagerly a little hug him.
Speaker 1 (50:00):
Mm hmmm.
Speaker 2 (50:02):
So we got Rick Flagg Senior. He's coming for Chris.
He knows who, he knows who killed his boy, you
know who we're doing that. He's and as a Peacemaker.
Maybe in Superman two he's director of Argus. Uh so
he's using his position to target Peacemaker and his buddies.
And we at some point we see we do see
like it looks like Peacemaker in the gang are running
(50:23):
around what might be his dad's lab. And then at
some point he's in his tidy whities and he walks
through a door in Is.
Speaker 1 (50:30):
That mandatory, by the way, which part the title it's?
I mean it it sure seems mandatory to strip every
time put him in something.
Speaker 2 (50:40):
I mean, maybe that is for him. It's like the
Will Ferrell thing.
Speaker 1 (50:43):
Yeah, I guess Will.
Speaker 2 (50:44):
Farrel's gonna be naked and everything he's in. But at
some point it's always worth a laugh. I know. At
some point Chris is made me straight up. He walks
through a door into an alternate reality, like.
Speaker 1 (50:53):
A doorway though like a yeah, it's a it's a
weird setups, like a lab full of just.
Speaker 2 (50:58):
Portal doors what it looks like. Yeah, walks through the
door and into.
Speaker 1 (51:02):
Hi, why is he in his underwear? Walking around?
Speaker 2 (51:04):
Walks into an alternate reality where another Peacemaker has a
very very nice setup mm hmm and wants to know
who the fuck he is now.
Speaker 1 (51:13):
Uh, this other one got paid the whole room.
Speaker 2 (51:15):
Well, maybe I'm wondering is this our way of finding
out what happens to DCEU Peacemaker?
Speaker 1 (51:21):
Oh yeah, that's yeah. That's my first thought is we're
gonna bury it in one of the doors.
Speaker 2 (51:25):
Yeah, Like he's gonna walk through and be like, holy shit,
what what what happened? And he's like, oh, yeah, well
I saved the world and you know, I got fucking
rich and sponsorship deals and I became a member of
the Justice League because who the Justice League? They anyway?
Uh yeah, and.
Speaker 1 (51:43):
Yeah, they just go over how they have real similar
stories and then and then the old Peacemaker just walks
back in and goes like, come here, boys, and then
Momoa just walks behind him and that's the end of
the universe. They closed the door.
Speaker 2 (51:53):
That would be so fantastic if that's what they did.
Speaker 1 (51:55):
Just Ezra and Momo just stroll it coming.
Speaker 2 (51:58):
Yeah, that would be I don't even need them. I
just like just to know that, like you can do
it with the voiceover for my moo.
Speaker 1 (52:04):
He's to just stand.
Speaker 2 (52:05):
Yeah, but like you know, tuck that first season away,
like oh yeah, all this exactly happened except for the
Justice League, and you know, we are nothing in our
universe and that version of Chris became something, and yeah
that's where we sit.
Speaker 1 (52:21):
I mean, dope, they go through it, they close the door,
and then like janeitar On news radio style, somebody accidentally
ruins that door can never be opened again.
Speaker 2 (52:29):
Mm hmm uh. That's funny. Yeah. The character in the
woods with the flames, you think, what do you think
of snow Flame?
Speaker 1 (52:38):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (52:39):
I yeah, it looks like Michael Rooker.
Speaker 1 (52:42):
It does. That's the only thing I was very sure
about is that looked like Michael Rooker. But short of that,
it just sort of find get the free stream.
Speaker 2 (52:49):
I mean, I wouldn't. I mean, if if any if
snow Flame turned up anywhere, it would be Harley Quinn
and he did, and then like if there was another place,
it would be Peacemaker, like where he's gonna snort some
coke and then that's how he activates his powers.
Speaker 1 (53:02):
Okay, thousand percent, that's rucker now that I'm looking at
the thing. But yeah, I mean this is just I
don't know, some magic, shame and looking stuff. Yeah, from
how many characters where I can do that?
Speaker 2 (53:12):
Because I don't know.
Speaker 1 (53:14):
I feel like that's going to be in our comic
castaways kind of thing somewhere. But I feel like that's
a lot of characters in my accident.
Speaker 2 (53:21):
Uh huh.
Speaker 1 (53:22):
We should pick that up and to see which characters
end up accidentally in it. You know, it looks fun though.
I mean, that would be a cool role. Just guy
who gets really high and solves things with the meditation.
Speaker 2 (53:31):
Yeah, I'm curious what he do.
Speaker 1 (53:33):
And I just gets high, figures it out, and stays
at the base. We got the plan, now, cool, We're
watching cartoons. Cheetos wind down, you all good luck out there.
Speaker 2 (53:42):
I'm curious. All right, let's let's move on from Peacemaker.
I reckon, you got anything else? Nah?
Speaker 1 (53:47):
No, it looks great.
Speaker 2 (53:49):
It does. I'm really excited about it, just to.
Speaker 1 (53:52):
Put a point out though, very happy that it. I mean,
I think that might be some I think the point
of including that little second person was maybe the mess
go ahead and pull up in the band aid about
the multiverse, and I'm okay with that. Oh yeah, peace
Maker's coming soon. That may there may be an answer
like that. I feel like that was gone, giving us
a little bit of a door of like, hey, I'm
gonna maybe deal with some of this early and I'm
(54:12):
okay with that.
Speaker 2 (54:13):
Yeah. August twenty first, man, I can't can't come fast enough.
I got to see Superman gonna get Peacemaker.
Speaker 1 (54:18):
I hell y Yeah, in the words of doctor Steve,
we have to live at least that long.
Speaker 2 (54:23):
I'm gonna try. Yeah. Uh gun did acknowledge. Someone asked
if Supergirl had wrapped filming. He said, yes, it has,
so Supergirl's production is over.
Speaker 1 (54:34):
Cool now comes so fast.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
Now now comes post over on Lanterns. You remember, did
we talk about how Greg Dilla Hunt posted a picture
of himself as Green Arrow and a storyboard. I think
we did. I think, and we may have talked about
I don't can't.
Speaker 1 (54:51):
I know we did privately. I cannot remember if we
were recording when we talked about Yeah.
Speaker 2 (54:55):
Okay, so a few a few weeks ago Lanterns star
Dilla Hunt, who is playing some Rando named character, wound
up posting a picture of himself as Green Arrow, and
there was like a storyboard that made it look like, yes,
they were doing that, and then he also like linked
(55:17):
the actual storyboard artist for the show in the post,
and then that shit blew up and he quickly deleted it.
And now he's he said, no, no, no, me. I
should be so lucky. But no, just a Halloween costume
from a few years back. I'm just a nerd, just
a fan. Unless they want one legged conspiracy theorist, paranoid
(55:40):
old man ollie, then maybe I have a shot, but no,
no intent to rile up. That doesn't explain why he
had a professional storyboard artwork of himself looking like Green
Arrow or Seth Adams social media handle it attached to it,
or any of that shit.
Speaker 1 (55:57):
Yeah, I mean, unless he was just putting out there
is if it.
Speaker 2 (56:00):
I thought that was a pretty but it was a
pretty damn good looking costume, buddy, I mean it would fit.
Speaker 1 (56:06):
I'd seen him post something on like Superman Day a
day before, but no, I don't know if he was involved.
I would deeply love him to do that. By the way,
I'll tell you this I love I love Garrett Della Hunt.
Speaker 2 (56:14):
I'll tell you this I have up to this point,
said James Gunn. He has no reason to lie about
any of the shit. I believe him. Uh. Now, responding
to the whether or not Diyla Hunt is actually playing
Green Arrow rumors, gun wrote, Haha, No, I do not
believe him. I don't believe either of these motherfuckers. He
(56:38):
posted some shit he wasn't supposed to post. He quickly
deleted that ship, and now they're trying to cover it.
Speaker 1 (56:42):
Up, and now they're just trying to laugh it on.
Speaker 2 (56:44):
Uh huh.
Speaker 1 (56:46):
I mean I could also kind of buy that he
just was thrown it out there as like a half joke,
half let's see if it sticks thing.
Speaker 2 (56:52):
Uh huh.
Speaker 1 (56:53):
But like you said, that's a pretty it's pretty bold.
There's just joking. Yeah, it's also like effortfull version of
just joke.
Speaker 2 (57:01):
I could, of course also see a scenario where Greg
Dilla Hunt and Seth We're sitting around with a gun
or somebody and joking about how he should play Green
Arrow and then like there's a mock up of it
that he takes a picture of and puts on a
mask on a hood maybe even a mass there using
for Green Lantern on the show and says I'm gonna
post it. I'm gonna post it and make everybody think it.
(57:23):
And God's like a ha ha ha, yeah right, and
he's like, I'm gonna do it, and he does it
and then it blows up and everyone's like, oh, fuck,
you weren't supposed to actually do it. Man, we were joking.
I can see that. But I know I think he is.
I think he's Green Arrow. All right, So the Batman
Part two. I don't know if you've been keyed into
(57:44):
any of this. There's been a lot of rumors going
around that Matt Reeves he has cancer, he has all
these awful diseases.
Speaker 1 (57:51):
There's not a lot of personal He's you know, a
lot of use of the words personal reasons and putting
something well, specifically, I have a couple of years for him.
Speaker 2 (57:59):
Specifically, I've I've read that he has some horrible cancer
and that he's not gonna do the Batman. He's stepped
away from being the director of Batman Part two. Uh.
And someone asked Gun on Threads, hey is is Matt
Reeves direct still directing Batman Part two? And Gun's response
was yes, huh, so I'm guessing he's still directing Batman
(58:22):
Part two.
Speaker 1 (58:23):
I mean I'm just gonna have to go with that
for now.
Speaker 2 (58:26):
Yeah, we will, We'll have to go.
Speaker 1 (58:28):
I don't would tell you. His boss said he's on it.
I guess we're gonna have to go with out now.
Speaker 2 (58:32):
Yeah. I don't know. It can't possibly be all the
reasons that I keep saying that. He was literally writing
the fucking movie and then HBO was like, we want
that for our show, and he was like, fuck, Okay.
Speaker 1 (58:44):
I guess I'll have to start over and that'll delay
the process two and a half years. Yep, I guess
so fuck.
Speaker 2 (58:50):
I mean, I'm not saying the man doesn't have personal issues.
I mean we know that he's been going through a
divorce or some shit like something's been going on, and
maybe he does have hell issues.
Speaker 1 (58:57):
August he gets extra credit for the strike pause, and yeah, hell,
I'll even give him a little bit of a COVID
pause just given the timing of everything.
Speaker 2 (59:06):
But no, not for this movie.
Speaker 1 (59:08):
Well, I mean just the whole universe moving forward at
one one speed. He thought he had like one tempo
and then he had a whole TV show to.
Speaker 2 (59:14):
It, and and that's also the only the only.
Speaker 1 (59:18):
Thing I fought him for is not seen it coming
when it got turned into the TV show that he'd
have to be like, what do you mean I still
need another homework assignment? You still need to turn yourself.
Speaker 2 (59:24):
Well, let's also like on time and if we you know,
we're like, okay, Well, Penguins one TV show. Yeah, but
he also had Gotham GCPD or whatever that got turned
into Arkhamsylum that he was working on that was suddenly
changed to DCU and then suddenly killed all together. Like
there are multiple fucking things.
Speaker 1 (59:43):
Oh yeah, he got dragged in at least two or
three countable directions, and then one of them is the
thing that he was counting under be the actual product,
it seemed, got turned in something else. Everything else just
sort of turned into maybe nothing, Like I get it.
I get that his time was wasted. I just also like,
it doesn't change the predicament he's in. It's just that's
the only It's not that I'm not understanding, it's just
(01:00:05):
that it doesn't change the fact of it. The GA
has no idea, no clue.
Speaker 2 (01:00:09):
In one of the movies, ah the g a won't care.
They don't know when it comes out, and when it
comes out they'll be.
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
Like yay, yeah kind of, but you will lose them momentum,
and you will lose a few dollars. Not that it's
I'm not saying it's gonna have a well, not significant.
It'll sand the edges off. This is gonna kill it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:26):
This is like a Will Ferrell effect. All right, Yes,
give it a certain amount of time, it will take
the edges off. Yes, it will kill some of the effect.
But then you wait a little bit longer and it'll
get It becomes a fervor where they are like Nostaal
just starts to sink in. You're like, wait a minute,
where the fuck is that movie? And then you're like, oh,
(01:00:47):
I got it's coming this year, and then it's gonna
It's just amps it up even more because now you've
been waiting for a while, even though you haven't because
you just watched the fucking Penguin the previous year.
Speaker 3 (01:00:56):
That's the problem is he's in some like his timings
off because like exactly, he's gonna wait just long enough
to redo the Will Ferrell effect, only to find that
all the momentum of wanting to see a new Batman
has been stolen by Braving the Ball.
Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
What that movie is? Oh that hasn't isn't gonna happen
for a while, look, I think. And by the way,
the Will Farrell effect is Will Ferrell does a joke,
it's funny, and then he does it like three more
times and it's not funny, and you really hate it.
And then you wait and then he does it again
and you're like, Okay, it was really funny.
Speaker 1 (01:01:25):
Yeah it was good.
Speaker 2 (01:01:26):
Yeah, but yeah, and then you don't watch Will Ferrel
of course.
Speaker 1 (01:01:31):
But I'm just worried that like he's in some tragedy
loop where like, no matter what happens, the timing just
isn't gonna work out for him.
Speaker 2 (01:01:38):
Again, I think it'll be fine. I think we're panicking
here for no reason.
Speaker 1 (01:01:43):
I'm not emmanticizing.
Speaker 2 (01:01:44):
I don't care. Like if they came out tomorrow, like
I swear to god, dude, if they came out tomorrow
and they were like yep, officially, Robert Pattinson's Batman is
not going forward. We had one good movie in a
damn fine TV series, and that's gonna be it. I'll
be like, dope, I'm good that was collective that did great.
Speaker 1 (01:02:04):
Call to day be proud.
Speaker 2 (01:02:05):
I see like we had collectively more hours in that
universe than we did with the Snyder verse. Fuck it, yeah,
I don't care, So I don't care. Can we move
on to DCU Batman?
Speaker 1 (01:02:14):
I could see your point, but I wouldn't. There'd be
no part of me that that wasn't like, no, no, no,
Patton's been Pattinson has been waiting. I don't care what
happened to his vehicle. Patton's been waiting to take that
ride for three or four years. Now, you just you
know in the Hamilton lyrics one.
Speaker 2 (01:02:31):
Last, okay, and also let me address this like Pattinson
just like took a role doing something else. I don't
even know, because I don't follow the man's career. I
don't give a shit, but I'm getting all. I'm seeing
all these snows.
Speaker 1 (01:02:41):
Oh my god, he's been busy, he's been fine.
Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
Oh my god. This will push Batman Part two back
even further. No, I swear to god, it won't. It won't.
It'll be fine. They're perfectly capable of doing more than
one movie, like you know how like you will see
these actors come in all of a sudden, they're in
fucking ten movies one year, and you're like, what happened?
How did you even manage this? It'll be fine, it'll
(01:03:06):
be fine. Like they were just talking about, like, oh
my god, Colin farrells and talks to being Sergeant Rock. Uh,
the Penguin Part two won't happen. Well, we don't. They
haven't been they haven't said this even happening anyway, But
that's you know, him being in Sergeant Rock wouldn't change it. Also,
Sergeant Rock has you know, been shelved or something for
a minute. So from what the rumors are saying, we
(01:03:26):
don't actually know. But you know, uh, I.
Speaker 1 (01:03:29):
Mean gues and no scheduling, scheduling if it's if it's
a hard out, it's hard out and it won't happen. Yeah,
I mean, but but incorrectly, Yeah, you can squeeze like
five movies anyway. Yeah, it's not you just really want
to beat the crap out of yourself apparently.
Speaker 2 (01:03:41):
Yeah, I'm just saying it's not like set in Stone
that just because someone's working on a single project that
they're not going to get to anything else, like and
believe you me Pattinson, They've got him locked in on
the contract, like he if he accepted any kind of
stupid role after the fact and said, hey, is this okay,
(01:04:03):
they're gonna be like, yeah, you're good, don't worry about that,
you know.
Speaker 1 (01:04:07):
Like, yeah, well that's that's also got to be you know,
frustrating is like you've already made Penguin, You've already made Batman.
You're not getting much more out of this. As far
as this wasn't nothing's making you active money. I mean,
you've got some merch out there, but it's not killing
So to not make the third one now you've got
to pay awesome people. Yeah, I wouldn't want to reach
(01:04:28):
back into the money that i'd made off this that's
not going anywhere but not growing either and just be like, well,
I guess I'll take a little bit off the top
of that. Fuck.
Speaker 2 (01:04:35):
Yeah. But the Batman and the Penguin did fantastically. The
Penguin was just just came out, so like we are
still on we're on a fine track with the general audience,
Like it'll be fine, like if it comes out in
twenty twenty six or whatever the fuck they're saying twenty
twenty seven, even that's fine. I don't I don't see.
Speaker 1 (01:04:53):
You think it'd be twenty seven.
Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
I don't think it's gonna be a problem.
Speaker 1 (01:04:55):
I don't see twenty twenty six.
Speaker 2 (01:04:56):
I don't think it'll be a problem in the way.
DC's gonna have so much shit coming it won't matter.
Oh but there's there's Well, that's that's what.
Speaker 1 (01:05:02):
That's My only point is that it'll not matter itself
and not mattering it.
Speaker 2 (01:05:06):
And if it does, that's okay too. Yeah, that's that's
the problem that you run into when you have a
separate like a tour making a series of things, and
maybe they'll there will be some lessons learned if it
actually does like fall by the wayside, which it won't,
but if it did, they would be like, all right, well,
(01:05:29):
let's pull Casey Bloys aside and be like, hey, stop
ambulance chasing all of our creatives. I'm just saying, like,
you know, they keep changing. It is like HBO HBO
now HBO go HBO Max Max, HBO Max again.
Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
Now I'm like it changed color again.
Speaker 2 (01:05:49):
Yeah, I know. Can you stop fucking changing the name
and get rid of Casey Boys?
Speaker 1 (01:05:53):
Also can we have some color back just while we're
doing resign?
Speaker 2 (01:05:55):
You can you can actually just get rid of like
the purple and the blue. What is the gray?
Speaker 1 (01:06:00):
I don't know anyway, just just a small design issue
that I would like to throw out there.
Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
All right, here's here's the thing I'm gonna I'm gonna
jump to one more break and when we come back,
we're gonna get into some WBT, including some ship that
Ben Affleck had to said it was very interesting. All right,
all right, we're back and we're gonna cover some WBT.
Speaker 1 (01:06:33):
I thought you'd spare him the second sound. I guess not.
Speaker 2 (01:06:41):
Sorry, I'm a dick. Oh man, Uh, there's a there's
a fucking rumor going around. There's nothing nothing holding us
in that. Will Poulter, who played Adam Warlock in the
Guardians of the Galaxy movies, it's gonna be playing Adam
(01:07:02):
Strange in the DCU. He's gonna apparently show up in
another property first, and then he's gonna have his own
series on Max. This is supposedly insiders reporting this. I
don't believe this at this point. It is just a rumor,
and not even from a source. It's from a freaking
(01:07:23):
account called gun Verse. It's like a man, it's a
rumor mill.
Speaker 1 (01:07:26):
I've seen that. It's a rumor MILLI that thing's worthless.
Speaker 2 (01:07:29):
Yeah. I only bring it up because I have seen
so many people reporting it as truth that I just
couldn't ignore it. I also like to say, I hope, really,
I really hope it's not true because I don't like
I like, I don't like will Pull.
Speaker 1 (01:07:43):
Yeah, I don't think I have an opinion about it.
I think I've only really seen him in passing a
couple of times.
Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
But I don't mind him for other things.
Speaker 1 (01:07:50):
No, I don't for some reason, I don't buy that
it's happening, but it definitely isn't happening in this sense.
Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
I don't buy it, but I also hope it doesn't happen. Yeah,
both of those things can be true. Mike DeLuca, talking
on the SmartLess podcast, said I think James and Peter
are working on a live action Teen Titans, which we
already knew. But then he says, and a new Teen
Titans Go. I think, actually too new animated Teen Titans
Go movie. That's pretty cool. Yeah, if you know Mike
(01:08:18):
DeLuca is in the loop enough to know.
Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
Yeah, you know, and like they can stay in the
normal canon for teen Titans. Got that one goes across
the universes anyway, Yeah it does. They can just hop around. Hell,
they could close up the other universe there and just
called it if they want. Mm hmm and a weird
Teen Titans go a bit oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:08:42):
Ben Affleck, while promoting his latest film, The Accountant, to
when asked if he might be playing there's.
Speaker 1 (01:08:48):
So many jokes. I know, I didn't realize it was
named that.
Speaker 2 (01:08:55):
Yah. So he was asked if he would play a
Batman again, he says, hey, you know, anything as possible.
Snyder Bro's freaking out.
Speaker 1 (01:09:03):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (01:09:05):
Snuder verse returning. They know af Flapp isn't coming, Okay, cool,
Christ Here's the thing, this means nothing. However, it doesn't
mean nothing because this is actually much more open than
he has been previously. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:09:21):
I mean that's a complete change in verbiage from completely
absolutely not absolutely yeah you know never no, but that
like the yeah, there shouldn't been kind of snyderaction as
far as now that Yeah, that's just not worth entertainment.
Speaker 2 (01:09:36):
Also, but yeah, it might be Ben Affleck. Because Ben
Affleck said absolutely not, and then he came back for
the Flash, so it might be an aged Ben Affleck
knowing better having just been in a movie with fucking
Michael Keaton as Batman, going hey, you know, anything's possible.
I don't know, probably nothing right now, but who knows.
Speaker 1 (01:09:55):
I mean, it seemed to have more to do with
environment than anything like he's It looks like a much
safer place to maybe explore for him than it would
have been previously. I mean, among other things, I'm pretty
sure that like those films became like a sobriety trigger
for him. I don't think he wants to go back
into that at all, Like he he well, that was
I think part of like the end of the end
(01:10:17):
of the road for him was those movies and the
environment and all that.
Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
No, you know, because in the Flash he was saying
after the Flash, he was saying that it was it
was unfortunate because they originally the Flash planned to do
more with Ben Affleck, because he was supposed to show
up in a stinger and be like Barry, come find me. Boh.
And he was saying in interviews.
Speaker 1 (01:10:36):
That, I mean more like the disappointing era of like
losing Batman just you know that era of the BBS
turnout and all.
Speaker 2 (01:10:42):
That, right. Well, yeah, like when he was doing his
solo movie and he couldn't get together with anything with
Jeff John's and that was a sobriety issue, and of churse,
he was also going through his divorce with Jennifer.
Speaker 1 (01:10:54):
Yeah, there was a ton there. I'm just saying, like,
that's just not you don't want to put yourself directly
back into all of the stuff that was just at
that spot. Yeah, I mean you don't.
Speaker 2 (01:11:03):
Yeah, you just trying to put some space, I know.
But you know, at the same time, I'm saying, like,
years and years after that, after he did The Flash
and that didn't turn out so well at the box office.
It was a flop by the way, he said, you know,
you look at that, it's you know, as soon as
I figure out how to play the guy, they you know, like,
I'm done. So there did seem to be some remorse
(01:11:23):
there about that. I think he does want to come back.
I don't think it's a sobriety trigger for him. I
think environment situation with Jeff John's and all of those people.
Speaker 1 (01:11:34):
Yeah, but that's why I'm getting at it. I think
circumstances have changed and he's had a little bit of
time to grow and feel different and like that may
be a different situation than it was a few years ago.
Speaker 2 (01:11:43):
Yeah, and I think and it's just.
Speaker 1 (01:11:45):
Not it's just not as toxic as it fucking was.
And he must have had a little bit of a
chance to he might he must have been able to
hear some reports from other people who have actually been
there and just been like, no, this this is actually
an okay place.
Speaker 2 (01:11:56):
We know he's also talked to James Gunn. So yeah,
while there might be anything specifically at this point, I
think there have been some discussions about like once we
get off, once we get you know, kicked off here
and get some good feelings under our belt about DC,
I don't know. I think I think there are there
(01:12:16):
are possibilities, and I've been saying that for years ever
since James Gunn took over. I'm like, he's gonna do
his own thing for a minute, But if he really
is our only hope, and I think he's our best
chance at getting anything, you know, kicking or revisited in
that particular universe, I mean, James Gunn knows we all
(01:12:37):
want a crisis. We all want to see universes collide,
worlds collide, We want to watch all the Batman run
around together.
Speaker 1 (01:12:47):
Yeah, you have to establish it first, though, absolutely. I
think we even said a couple of times. I don't
I think I said this at some point, I don't
even want to discuss this for like five years. Yeah,
I'm I might have even said I don't want to
talk about this until twenty thirty at some point.
Speaker 2 (01:13:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:13:04):
I still don't mind that advice from my past self
on that.
Speaker 2 (01:13:07):
All right, I just think, you know, fans need to
chill out, and that's a good segue into this. While
promoting his new movie Until Dawn, David Zamberg, director of
Shazam Shazam Fury of the Gods, discussed what drew him
to the project, citing the creative script in its approach
to bringing the video games story to life. There was
a point in time though, when he couldn't have He
(01:13:29):
couldn't have been at all interested in helping this movie.
He had negative experiences experiences with the DCEU. He swore
off working on any other project based on established ip.
He says, I mean, to be honest, fans can get very,
very crazy and very angry with you. You can get
like death threats and everything. So after Shazam Too, I
was like, I never want to do another IP based movie.
(01:13:51):
It's not worth it. But then I was set the script.
I would set the script, and I was like, ah,
that would be so much fun to do. I kind
of have to do it, and I hope that the
people see what they're what we're trying to do and
like it. But yo, so you'll sending death threats to
this man. For neither of those Shazam movies were that bad.
Speaker 1 (01:14:12):
It wasn't worth a death threat, which is also who No,
maybe it was the cameos or what was supposed to
be in it or something. I don't careus enough about
Shazama do a death threat.
Speaker 2 (01:14:22):
I know you didn't have Uncle Marvel, fuck you.
Speaker 1 (01:14:28):
It's not It's just not an area. If you care
enough about that character to be really invested, I feel
like you're probably a decent person.
Speaker 2 (01:14:39):
I don't know, man, alrighty uh, there's a little bit
of news here. DC films. Uh, there are a bunch
of DC films free on tub h. I don't know
if y'all know tuby, but Batman from maybe nine, Batman Returns,
Batman Forever, Justice League twenty seventeen, and The Flash are
all now on to be for free. By the way, uh,
(01:15:00):
good time to go and watch Batman Forever, because our
last episode was a review of Batman Forever. It was
like two and a half hours long.
Speaker 1 (01:15:09):
Yeah, yeah, that went on for a while.
Speaker 2 (01:15:11):
We had a lot of fun though.
Speaker 1 (01:15:12):
Yeah, I enjoyed it.
Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
Over on x Chris Jay zero two to three said,
I enjoyed the hell out of this review this this
film is nostalgic, but your points are right on. Good
time that that was a great comment. Thank you, Chris.
That's nice.
Speaker 1 (01:15:28):
I appreciate that. I often forget what we say and
then someone says something about it. I'm like, oh, yeah,
we were dicks about something. Yeah that tracks. Oh we
were kind well okay, that's cool, good good. I'm glad
we were at least being a little bit well understanding
while we were otherwise being cynical assholes like we off
yeah yeah, Like I rarely get the comment back, like
it's not like, oh, we forgot how we were like
(01:15:48):
overjoyed and hopeful.
Speaker 2 (01:15:50):
Okay, yeah I was aggravated too. And I'll say this
here because there's nowhere else for me to say it.
I forgot to mention it in our Batman Forever review
at the.
Speaker 1 (01:16:00):
End many bonus point.
Speaker 2 (01:16:04):
At the end, Commissioner Gordon and unnamed cop are standing
on the roof with the bat signal on and Gordon's like,
turn it off. He's not coming, and the guy goes
to turn it on because here's the bat wing, you know,
and he goes, wait a minute, wait a minute, and
he sees the batway and he's like, go, go go,
And then you see, like Batman like give him the
(01:16:26):
thumbs up. Number one, Batman, Gordon, his old ass can't
see you've given a thumbs up from that damn jet
all the way up in the sky. Two. It occurs
to me that there is no way Batman could have
known what Gordon had the bat signal on for he
was going after Riddler. There was no way that Gordon
knew what Batman was going to go do, which means
(01:16:49):
that he had the bat signal on for some entirely
different reason, like I don't know, the Joker came back
to life or something something crazy happened.
Speaker 1 (01:16:56):
Yeah, that entire film Fox, I presume it was the
same reason that she turned it on is were him
up there and try to get him in bed with laund.
Speaker 2 (01:17:03):
Yeah, yeah, pat ankles up there in his in his
in this little nighty going on. I'll bring the wine,
you bringing our card, psyche Batman hell yeah. So but yeah,
it's just like so Batman is just you know, Gordon's
just like this point is like, well, I don't know
what he's going to fight, but go go go shakes
(01:17:26):
the hand of the cop next time, like I okay,
because he he was he didn't know what Ridler was doing.
Speaker 1 (01:17:34):
No, no, they I think they just had an idea
of a scene they wanted to shoot at the end,
and we're like, it'll be at the end, normal care,
we'll tie this together. We wanted the we wanted the
shot of val and the thing. They honestly, they probably
just needed the This is probably actually possibly true. They
probably needed the shot of Batman with the thumbs up
(01:17:54):
for whatever ads they were planning on running.
Speaker 2 (01:17:56):
Huh.
Speaker 1 (01:17:57):
So that shot was gonna make it in anywhere somewhere,
and it made It's at the end of the movie.
So we did that, and I think I borderlin. I
think I remember seeing that on commercials the Batman thumbs
up moment.
Speaker 2 (01:18:07):
Oh god, it was on so many, so many commercials,
and that feels right, so many commercials anyway.
Speaker 1 (01:18:13):
I doubt that was engineered from the front, you know
what I mean?
Speaker 2 (01:18:15):
Mmmmm, Well, if you'd like to support the show, if
you'd like to have less ads or no ads, actually
patreon dot com slash DC on screen, we are over there.
If you don't want to become like a full time
monthly subscriber, here's the thing. Yes, it does behoove us
for you to become a monthly subscriber so that you
just charges you and you just don't even realize it anymore.
(01:18:37):
But if you don't want to do that, and we
have something in our catalog, you can just pay for
it one time. You can just pay for that thing.
I'm slowly going through our stuff and putting a price
on it so that you can just grab the one
thing you're interested in. So that's neat too. But you know,
one dollar patrons, one dollar a month you get every
(01:18:59):
episode add for We have a lot of ads. Now,
I couldn't listen to it.
Speaker 1 (01:19:03):
You know, it's a good point. It's a good point.
Ads are increasing, ads are increasing. That dollar seems like
it's buying you less and less these days, but it
still buys you all those ads going the fuck away.
Speaker 2 (01:19:12):
It ad buys you every one of those ads going
the fuck away.
Speaker 1 (01:19:14):
That's the same fucking dollar.
Speaker 2 (01:19:16):
You can join the You can join our patreon for
free too and just get like updates and shit. But
you can do the one dollar get every episode add free.
You can do five dollars and get that plus whatever
extra weird shit we put up. And we don't do
it a ton, but we do do it from time
to time.
Speaker 1 (01:19:32):
Yeah, we'll drop a half hour there.
Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
And when I say we do do it, I mean
we literally shit a weird thing out every once in
a while.
Speaker 1 (01:19:39):
It's usually whatever's whatever twenty minutes or so, where we
should have been doing the show and against our yeah
better judgment, went into some other area anyway, uh huh,
and happened to have been recorded.
Speaker 2 (01:19:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:19:51):
So it's like they're compelling bits. At least they compelled
us to completely lose track of what the fuck we
were supposed to be doing for twenty thirty minutes at
a time.
Speaker 2 (01:19:58):
Oh it is so fun too, like because I I
will go back and look at those episodes like after
I've had enough time to not think about them, and
I'll just like look, because I will go through and
just like write down. I will listen to those episodes
and I just write down all the weird things we're
talking about, right, and like a bullet bullet point form,
And when I go back and look at it, I
just left my dick off because I'm just like, where,
how did we get from Dave Grohl to a parakeet
(01:20:21):
to you know, the ice Wall conspiracy? Like, I don't
know what we're talking about.
Speaker 1 (01:20:26):
Yeah, I mean, so this one would be a little
different because it's been very centric around a couple of trailers.
But for the most part, yeah, and before we maybe
rip out like a warm up or a Patreon something,
rather for the most part, if we've recorded two or
three hours, you can click anywhere in that two or
three hours. Once we've like combined the audio and have
no fucking idea what the premise of the show is.
(01:20:49):
It takes at least three or four or five clicks
before you're like, oh, okay, this is a DC News situation.
Speaker 2 (01:20:54):
Yeah. This show has been described as using DC News
as an it for us to keep track of each other.
Speaker 1 (01:21:01):
It's been described as tinential of its best day.
Speaker 2 (01:21:05):
So anyway, we love you guys, and uh, you know,
joining the Patreon really does help us out. I understand.
Time sucks, the you know, the tariffs and ship the
world's burning. Uh you know, people are getting iced and uh,
you know, none of that's fun and everyone's hurting. So
you know, uh, it's man, this is it's not worth
(01:21:25):
it if you're gonna, if you're gonna put yourself out,
but it does help us. So how do you get
some free You get some free stuff, not really free
stuff because you're paying for it. You get some good
stuff and uh, you know, every once in a while
you get something. I don't know, I've lost track. Anyway,
we love you guys, and uh we're gonna go that.
Speaker 1 (01:21:46):
Yeah, uh that's a weird sell. The little bit of
support that we have there is what has kept the
lights on this whole time. So much appreciate you know.
Speaker 2 (01:21:54):
It's it's just it sucks, you know, because I feel
bad going, hey, join our Patreon when the world was
burning around us.
Speaker 1 (01:22:01):
Right yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:22:02):
And people are losing people and and you know, it's
not a particularly good time at the moment. So I
feel bad about that. I feel bad hawking the wars. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:22:14):
Yeah, there's so many sales careers that just you would
you would die of starvation.
Speaker 2 (01:22:18):
In Yeah, dude, like I hate sales. I hate that shit.
Like I just feel like a piece of shit. I
couldn't do anything like that, and I can get it.
You guys hear me fumble through this pitch every every
week or so. Some weeks I don't even do it
because I'm just like, I can't be bothered. I don't
have the energy for that. There's a link to the
fucking Patreon on her show notes.
Speaker 1 (01:22:37):
Yeah, I'm just going to check the Patreon one day
and see that there's no money there. And what happened?
I refunded at all. I just felt bad.
Speaker 2 (01:22:44):
Yeah, I just sent it all. I couldn't do it.
Speaker 1 (01:22:46):
I was like, man, these guys are just so nice.
I just felt I just has it in the negative.
I send back more money. Actually, yeah, I felt really bad.
I added twenty bucks each one of them. Yeah, ended
up handwritten apology and.
Speaker 2 (01:22:59):
Scene I will never send you money back.
Speaker 1 (01:23:01):
Yeah, possibly a handwritten apology.
Speaker 2 (01:23:06):
Yeah, now you might get a handwritten apology with a
quick Batman with a tiny Batman. Yeah, all right, we're done,
See you guys later.
Speaker 1 (01:23:14):
Watch the trailer again.
Speaker 2 (01:23:14):
Oh hey, you want to do you want to watch
Superman the movie for next week?
Speaker 1 (01:23:18):
Is that next week?
Speaker 2 (01:23:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:23:19):
Wed that next week?
Speaker 2 (01:23:20):
You want to do that? Cool? Yeah? Superman the movie?
You guys? Dude? You know what that Batman Forever review
did really well actually in the in the in the numbers,
so oh cool. Yeah, I'm excited. We haven't talked about
Batman Superman the movie with Chris.
Speaker 1 (01:23:35):
And there's just never been a better excuse.
Speaker 2 (01:23:37):
Yeah, I'm I'm I'm in my Superman era. All right,
y'all U until next time, keep some DC on your screen. Bye,
