(00:02):
Welcome into DC on Screen, thepodcast bringing you news and reviews from the
DC Commets multiverse on film and televisionsince twenty fifteen. I am your host,
David C. Robertson this by Trustycohort Jason Goss. All right,
do you mind being called to trustycohort? Not a bit good, almost
redundant Other than that, but yeah, no, I have un trusty cohorts.

(00:27):
I don't typically bringing cohorts into mymore devious plan. Well some of
us do. All right, Sobig stuff happened this week. Shazam got
some cool news. We got someuh we got a new flash trailer and
a freaking TV spot that was funfor the super Bowl. And now that

(00:50):
we've mentioned that, I guess we'llmove on to other news. Yeah,
no reason to talk about it.Yeah, um, did you see went?
Let's talk about the game for awhile. I have no I have
no idea. That is the onething in the Super Bowl I didn't give
a shit about is the game.I was like, I don't even this
is football? Is that with theSuper Bowl? Okay? Oh, but

(01:11):
yeah, she's am. Three ofthe guys got some really exciting news.
Their release date in China is Marchseventeenth, same day as the US,
which is really cool. That isa huge market, and I you know,
you never know exactly what China isgonna do. And Black Adam was
banned in China because what was it? Pierce Brosden mentioned that he met the

(01:36):
Dabi Lama some years ago probably andthat the censorship rules they are vague.
And suicide Squad the first suicide squadwas that was banned ye, so yeah,
probably because the dude was wearing blueor something. I genuinely don't know
how to predict what they're gonna donow. I believe the first suicide Squad

(01:57):
was banned because of a generally negativeoutlook on life or some shit like.
That was the the official response, but there was a lot of conjecture for
years that it was because of uhmagic based content. Um so the release
of Sasa Fury of the Gods,of course, would would seem to fly

(02:20):
in the face of that. Soyeah, there's there's no Chinese mythology that
is based on magic whatsoever. Hesays in Current Sipping t Boys. It
was just the thing that people havebeen saying for years. It's like,
oh, it's a magic based moviewill be banned in China. I mean
it's possible. Um current regime isnot a huge fan of it. But
I wasn't there like a couple ofMarvel movies that they were just finally gonna

(02:44):
let rerelease or something. It's it'sI don't know, the DC show.
I don't keep up with Marvel.I watched the movies and the TV shows,
and I enjoy the hell out ofthem, but I don't I don't
keep up with what they has tobe spectacular for me to care otherwise.
Yeah, pretty much. Yeah,I just thought it was like, I
think there were a couple of moviesI saw them that we're going to be

(03:05):
like released now in China that atthe time, it was weird they weren't
going to release him anyway. Yeah, it's just for to have like a
billionish people to be able to watcha movie and not have that on your
possible roster. Is is I knowit hurts the actual like first and second,
third, fourth or whatever week sales, but this would be nice for

(03:27):
sure, Sam, Yeah, youknow, because they're not magic at all.
We had that snuck through the sensorson that one. Yeah, with
all the low key magic. Yeah, I mean if that's you know,
not a not a real thing. And they did give different reasons for Black
Adam and for you know, suicideSquad back in the day. So yeah,
yeah, I guess, I guessThat's all I'm saying, is I

(03:47):
just I never know? But Imean I don't. I don't have any
real implicit faith in any censorship boardoutright. But uh I don't either.
They're they're they're not among my highestrated. No, so the countries,
hold on a second, let meget yeah, no, we don't have
time for that. Today. Tocoincide with the trailer, they release a

(04:11):
new flash synopsis, World's Collide. In the flash, when Barry uses his
superpowers to travel back in time inorder to change the events of the past,
but when his attempt to save hisfamily inadvertently alters the future, Barry
becomes trapped in a reality in whichGeneral Zod has returned, threatening annihilation,
and there are no superheroes to turnto. That is, unless Barry can

(04:32):
coax a very different Batman out ofretirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian, albeit
not the one he's looking for.Ultimately, to save the world that he
is in and return to the futurethat he knows Barry's only hope is to
race for his life. But willmaking the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset
the universe? That's interesting A coupleof things in there. It says General

(04:55):
Zod has returned, but based onthe imagery in the trailer, uh,
we can talk about it looks likeit is General z Odd coming to Earth
for the first time. I meanbecause it looks like this. It looks
like literal scenes from A Man ofSteel that have been now altered to be

(05:15):
the berries and uh Batman, MichaelKeaton's Batman, and and a lot of
that. You could just kind ofdo and like back uh you know,
shot from the back style and computeit. But um, I don't think
I'll particularly care as far as ifthey make the scenes make sense in this
new format. I don't think I'llgive a shit like they I'm not going

(05:36):
to care about aging for instance,on Michael Shannon, you know, yeah,
not in the format of Kryptonian visitingEarth. That's it's that now.
But you know the whole will makingthe ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the
universe? Thing? Uh? Dodo you think Ezra's gonna bite the bullet.

(05:57):
It's a flash movie or it's aflashpoint, so some some kind of
flash out of that. I meanthere are two flashes here. We got
a yellow in a red one.I don't know. Yeah, I think
that's a red herring. Um oh, I know. I don't think it's
gonna be like a yellow flash orreverse flash or anything. Um but I
you gott admit that's the trend though. A flash's gotta go when you reset

(06:17):
the universe. That is kind ofthe trend. Yeah, um, ok,
maybe why we have what I willin retrospect call the expendable flash.
So they had this trailer out, man, I dug the way this trailer
was edited. I really loved theshot of young Barry running out and it

(06:40):
going from daytime to like nighttime inthe present with older flash. Yeah.
Um, and I really did love, like I love seeing Ben. I
was a little dubious because I sawblue and gray as far as his new
costume is concerned, and that feltlike Weedon's Justice League because they did try
to like blew him up a littlebit for that cut. I know,

(07:04):
and I hate that because I loveblue and gray. I do too.
I mean I'm wearing it right now. Yeah. Um, so we knew
that it was gonna be uh,you know, I think it's funny that
the trailer is like not even tryingto hide the fact that you know the

(07:25):
the movie is going to be like, hey, it's gonna be Clark.
Wait, no, it's Cara. That's a reveal, Like they're just like,
yeah, you know this already. You know what's gonna happen. It's
out there. Um man, it'sgood. It's good to see Keaton back
in the cowl, though, youknow, honestly, m obviously, I

(07:46):
was surprised. I was surprised byhow much the cow still looks like the
one that doesn't really move very well. Yeah, because there's a part of
me that thought they might, uh, you know, Nolan trilogy style kind
of VAMPI up a little b whereit had more movement because they that was
a nice callback in the Nolan trilogy. Was like, man, I just
wish I could term head more.Um. I liked the idea, and

(08:07):
on the other hand, pretty justthinks like, well, he's been wearing
it a while, it probably bendsbetter just broke it in, you know.
Well, no, but because inthe TV spot. We saw the
old nineteen eighty nine and the Batmanreturns. I like when I saw the
full fleshed out version and all ofthem together. It made more sense.
When I saw it the first time, I just kind of thought, like,

(08:28):
canny, Cannie move. But Ithought that for about a quarter second
before my favorite moment happened and theentire thing. Um, he can still
kick some fucking ass. Well, his CGI and stunt double can. Yes,
yes, And I'm deeply excited aboutseeing those two at work. I
will send flowers to the computer whoprogrammed that or who did the rendering me.

(08:52):
Yeah, they will. They willreceive an orchid. An orchid.
Yeah, all right, it's myfavorite flower, So let I send people.
I did know you had a favoriteflower? Learn every day. It's
the only one that stays live longenough for me to admire it before I
eventually kill it. Yeah, andthey make pretty colors, all right.

(09:13):
Um, yeah, I don't knowthat. There's a whole lot of talk
about in this trailer. Like wesaw, you know, just a second
of like slow motion as he's likegot his uh. I got a bit
of a moment with Kirtsey Clemens's umIris yeah. Uh, oh god,
oh god, Jason, when whenwhen when he when he when Barry grabs

(09:39):
other Barry and kind of shakes himby the collar with his hands up by
his throat. Did you know punintendent have a flashback to the footage of
Ezra choking that woman in the bar. I did not like, is this
a clever flash ut back? Callback? What what are y'all doing here?

(10:00):
Yeah, don't don't. Don't makeit worse y'all. I did not say
you mention it? And I don'tthink that was gonna be some meta joke,
but but I get it. Idon't think after what seventeen years of
developing this movie, that they hadtime to put in all the metajokes that
you might do. Ah, thattakes like a second to be like,
hey, you know it would begreat. You know what from me?

(10:24):
What's remind everyone of that time?Because you don't have enough bullshit coming at
you. Yeah. No, they'regonna do like somehow somewhat like in Justice
League, where you walk in andyou see his layer and he's got all
the TV's. This time it's gonnabe the same thing, but the TV's
will be replaced by armed weapons anda toddler, possibly with a bullet to

(10:46):
smile. Yeah, just in thebackground, chilling, No one paying attention
whatsoever, not Adulton side, Yeahexcept for Ezra. That's just not paying
attention any capacity, possibly even feedingthe bullet. At that point, right
and over in the corner in acage is a twenty year old trans individual
saying I was groomed. Yeah, yeah, of course. Yeah. There

(11:07):
will also be a karaoke scene.A karaoke scene, of course that will
be unpredictable, let's call it that. Yeah, if you're the one,
if you're the one, you know, performing, you have to wear a
target on your forehead and anyone watchingcan throw chairs at you. Yeah.
Whatever. Was basically the costume fromBullseye and the Daredelpin movie, but with

(11:33):
real consequences. Yeah. Just allof the the outlandish allegations that apparently have
not you know, worked out toa point where they could actually do anything
to Ezra. That all seemed tofall a bit flat. But I don't
want to get into the miniche ofhow I or motivations here. We've talked

(11:58):
about it at nausea. I wouldrather instead would not would it not be
very like like crushing to be bullsEye, you can't miss. I would
be I'm like, crippled every dayas I performed. I'm wait, why
would you be crippled as you performed? If I was, if I was
actually bulls Eye, if you werebulls Eye? I mean, I can't
miss. That's my whole thing.Yeah are you? Why are you crippling

(12:20):
yourself? I would be emotionally crippled. It'd be stage anxiety the entire time,
stage fright. I guess, ohgotcha. I would miss the moment
someone gave me that moniker like,oh man, the man that doesn't miss.
Oh wait, no, man, right, Well, I mean you
could be worse. You could belabeled the flash the fastest man alive.
Um, I don't see that.I don't see him. That's a lot

(12:41):
of performance aside that is. Thatis Oh my god, I had this
reputation. I've saved the world.I've saved the world so many times,
and I can't I can't get adate because everyone knows I'm the fastest man
alive. No, he can't geta day because he shows up late to
him all because he stops and savestwenty four cats out of trees and stops

(13:07):
fifteen bank robberies on the way toa fucking date. The hubris of being
the fastest man alive means that hethinks I can do it. I can't
get done. We'll get there, okay, in all fairness, In all
fairness, if you mess with timelike he does, his watch probably doesn't
work. He's probably estimating a certainamount of time has passed and looking down

(13:28):
and go, oh god, god, damn it again, you're late again.
And I cannot even imagine that theiPhone or as sampsung or whatever is
keeping track of his movements well enoughto keep the phone updated, like he's
just showing up. And then thephone refreshes and he's like, oh,
that's when all the coffee's cold.I am forty five minutes late. And

(13:50):
yep, yep, here come thetexts. Are you coming? No,
say Sarah, you're coming? Thisis duriculous. I don't need this.
Please lose him my number oka.Yeah, yeah, I've been through the
before. It's gonna be the same. Roteam with him every time. Yeah,
it's a tragic story, really, but he can't out run Superman,
which you gotta be fun. Howmany times we were brought up that scene

(14:13):
about that was for Charity Clark.Yeah, what was that? That was
a Tom Taylor, wasn't it.I think so. I wasn't it deceased.
It wasn't decease from It wasn't onedeceased. Um. It does feel
like a Tom Taylor kind of lie. Um. I don't know who that
one was, but it was aIt was a great line, a great
thought because I thought that was likeas he races away right before the whole

(14:35):
rib situation happens. Mhmm. Notin that one, because I remember us
discussing that scene well before deceased toactually this. Mhmm. I don't know,
but that's okay. One day we'llstop and actually look it up.
It is possible. Oh that wasfrom Flash Rebirth number three. Yeah.

(14:56):
Yeah, that was John Jeff Johnsand Ethan vn Sky or Shiver or whatever
his name is. I can saymany things about John's but he's capable of
a good line. Yes, hell, even a good story arc and truth
be told. Short of the lastfew years, I wouldn't have a bad
thing to say about him, butgoddamn it, both of us guys.

(15:16):
Now, Yeah, I don't knowabout Ethans. Ethan's like a comic skater
now woke. Oh yeah, he'sone of those guys. Yeah, thought
right off on that. Mmm.So the flash trailer man started. I
enjoyed it. The Flash super BowlTV spot had a couple other shots like

(15:37):
Affleck starting up his bat cycle, like driving out of the Flying Fox from
Justice League, and dude, allthe Michael Keaton suits, so many Michael
Keaton suits. They had some blueand gray and I can't tell you how
happy I am to see that theone that looks like the eighty nine suit

(15:58):
but it's blue and gray because Ihave a Michael Keaton looks like Michael Keaton
action figure that Kenner put out. That was the blue and gray that looked
exactly like what they had in there. So I'm like, is Cannon,
my Toya? Is Cannon? Nice? Um? And then they had like
work though that might have been Cannonbegin with some shit happen, but they
dude, they had like a blueand gray Batman cowl that had the freaking

(16:22):
sixty six logo on it. Didyou notice that the one with the sixty
six logo is the one that hadthem the gun holsters? Oh that is
sixty six. Yeah, the wingsgo down all the way. M hmmm,
I deposit and find it. Yeah, and not too far behind it
or or thematically behind it is theone that kind of looks like some combination

(16:44):
of sixty six and uh Nightmare versekind of Batman. Yeah, they had
like they have like a desert gearwith the goggles and the like a hood.
Yeah. I want to see allof those movies. Really it's blue.
It's blue and gray for me,Like if I picked one that I
was like this is I'm I'm inshape. I'm going to comic Con and
I'm gonna you know, like enjoymyself for the day and show off my

(17:08):
costume and be you know, beBatman for it blue and gray. They'll
be blue and gray. Probably.I say the in shape part because dear
God, like I hate the ideaof like being Batman with the gut and
that sounds painful, like lill loosenthe utility belt and lose a couple of
smoke grenades. Just sounds a littlejust a little humiliating. Yeah, or

(17:30):
or you know, if you've everdone this when you put on some white
and weren't expecting to face those consequentlike go sit down in the auditorium and
like pop the utility belt because youyou didn't realize that the gut was overhanging
too far, too much stress.Yeah, these are these are not These
are visions of things that I wouldjust be like, well that ruined it
and it will take me seventy hoursto get out of this building. Now

(17:57):
they're packed in the parkings. Yeah, naturally, what are we talking about.
You were very excited about the costumes. I am. I love those
batmans. I think you can getthe instumes. Yeah, yeah, sorry,
I got a little distracted. Um, if you follow me on Twitter,

(18:18):
you know my mom is in thehospital right now with an aneurysm in
her stomach, and my sister justmessaged me to let me know my youngest
sister m while at the hospital, fell and landed on her side and is
in a horrible amount of pain andis now in the emergency room. God,

(18:41):
I'm sorry, but you can't.You can't not laugh at that.
Hey, look, my sister,Ashley says, I have been sitting here
laughing at her like a great bigsister. So I think you're I think
you're safe. Um. In herdefense, she sleeped or frived and those

(19:04):
are very slippery hard floors. Yeah, we've we've wouldn't it wouldn't be like
slipping if you were jogging with decentnikes and and you know, yeah,
it's it's odds weren't in your favor. But yeah, like, yeah,
that's what we need. Just anotherperson in the in the in the hospital.
Good god. Yeah, but yeah, she is sleep deprived. She's

(19:26):
been back and forth at the hospitaland I have to, but not as
much as her because I live ahundred miles away. It is convenient for
all the people to be in thesame place if they're gonna be ill.
M hmm. I've seen moments wherethat was a problem. So you know
you got that going. Yeah,um, dude, Like in the trailer
when uh Burton versus Berry, I'llsay, because it seems like Burton versus

(19:51):
Berry doesn't have powers and doesn't becausethere are no metahumans. They said in
the trailer, is this yellow berry? Yes, yellow berry? Who I
feel like it is a red hair, well, a yellow herring that he's
I feel like they're trying to belike he's gonna be reverse Flash. But
if you look at that TV SuperBowl ad, um, we can see

(20:15):
Burton versus Berry in the modified Batmansuit with like the nubs, the cutoff
ears running and leaping and like likekicking a what looks like a black speedster
figure that looks or could look verymuch like the uh the toy that we've

(20:36):
been seeing, you know, popup from the flash like they're gonna release
um, which is like a blackflash type of situation. And I don't
know if he's supposed to be likea reverse flash or or if it's gonna
be like a speed raife, youknow, coming after Barry for changing trying
to change the timeline. I amvery interested in what the hell they're doing

(20:57):
here. Could he be like ablack racer situation? For all that it's
gonna matter on this one, Imean, yeah. One thing that's confused
me, Like there's a last shotin the TV spot where I think they
have a close up of the heels. It's because it's a red and a
blue light kind of thing, andthe moment I saw the blue lightning,

(21:18):
I just kind of hoped for davesake, I hope it is cobalt.
That would be an interesting take oncobalt blue. But the blue lightning in
the comics. The blue means thefaster of the of the speedsters. But
if you notice the blue is aroundthe Burton verse berry. Yeah, and
even in the shot that I'm lookingat it, I just kind of paused
it. It's kind of intertwined, like there's as much blue on the red

(21:41):
side as there has red on theblue side. I don't know if that
means anything. And it looks likeKryptonians behind it and the still front,
but on the far far far ohyeah, they're definitely like that looks like
the scene from A Man of Steelwhere like the army goes out to like
meet up with Zod, except there'sno Superman there this time, but this

(22:03):
time is Flash and Keaton, Batsand Cara. Yeah. Um, nothing
I'm curious about because one of themspecifically even looks like Zod and you know
it anyway, it's I'm sure Kryptonians. It's just the one on the far
far right when I accidentally freeze framed, it just looks like that. It

(22:26):
looks like a bolt logo on theside, like on the chest. To
me, like that one looks likeit might be another Flash. Yeah,
probably in illusion. I mean yeah, I mean I think there's there's definitely
like, like I said, likethey've put out the toy. If anyone
wants to like tell me what I'mactually saying, we've seen a toy of
like this. I think they calleda dart flash on the on the packaging.
But it's like he almost looks likehe he looks like Doomsday almost like

(22:52):
he's got like the ridges and stuff. So for all I know, it
might be like you know, Zodinstead of wandering becoming Doomsday becomes like some
sort of like flash version of Doomsday. I don't know, man, I
don't know. Um, but ohmy god, it would be fun if
they pulled in some metal stuff. But like I think it was the Red
Death when it was actually like themetal the Dark Knights metal version of it.

(23:18):
Um, he was not to betraffled with. So it told when
there's a scene of the trailer whereBarry's like, Batman, what do we
do? And Batman goes try notto die and it looks like a great
one shot and that's something with hiswrist there. Well, what he's doing
is you know how you do likethe the it's like the military signal when

(23:38):
you like hold up your hand andthen you hold it in a fist until
I stop to signal signal, Yeah, until he's you know, that's where
you hold it up to the guysbehind you and you know, say freeze.
From what I've learned from movie,I've also seen it be used as
a engage situation. But it lookslike he's hold up his hand and he

(23:59):
closes his fist and pulls his fistdown and cars behind him floating in the
air. But I think that's notthe Kryptonian battle. That is when they're
breaking her out of that government silo, because she's still in the in the
like the Potato Sacks clothing. Yeah, altogether that scene it kind of felt
like Batman jumps off the back ofit whatever elevated stage they're on to me,

(24:26):
and then to me it kind oflooked like he was doing something with
his wrist that was actually like gadgetyrather than just a signal. But yeah,
I completely agree about the place.Like the setting looks like where they
pulled Potato Sacks Supergirl out and we'regoing to call her that now, right,
can we? When she gets intocostume shows super Girl. But for

(24:51):
a moment in this movie, I'mwith you completely Tader Sacks Supergirl, sax
Supergirl or sacker Girl. Um.I have to say though, like that
that trailer was sick as shit, dude, Like I dug it. Yeah,
and uh and then just still mysterieslike the blood by the one Cowl

(25:12):
at the beginning and what I man, And I like the made a mystery
that it starts out with Keaton askinglike why this one because this is the
this is the world where my motherlived. Yeah, which is again a
very powerful retort. But I likethat that's I guess the tone of where
that starts. I guess, yeah. It leaves you to wonder about a

(25:34):
lot of things. Look what well, I mean just directionally, like you
kind of wonder like is Keaton uhso desponded about his universe that he among
all the men other people it wasjust like, man, all the versions
of things you could save and thisis like it makes you think he's got
another universe that he found somewhere wherehe's like, no, that's where more
good happened. That's what you shouldsay. And that's an interesting idea.

(25:59):
And then for you know, forBarry's sake, like what what is the
integral? Like the primal force inhis life. I lost my mom.
I lost my mom too early, and I wanted more time. Like and
you know, Keaton's gonna like likeputting putting together the flash trailer in the
super Bowl TV spot, like youreally get a good, a really good

(26:19):
sense of why Bruce is helping him, because I mean, like we get
a shot of him, like ofBruce, old Bruce with his long gray
hair touching the picture of his ofhis mother, and that activating the uh
the entrance to the Batcave. Likeman, I was like a little bit

(26:41):
like, oh God, like thatthat touched me. Like I was actually
like pausing and like looking for picturesof Michael Golf, you know, like
can we can we get a MichaelGolf Alfred? Real quick? Do you
do you have a picture of Alfredup there? Oh? Another question,
just for speculations purpose, is thisso if a lot of this takes place

(27:07):
or a chunk of it takes placein the like the Keaton verse, you
know, um, it's the shorthaired version of Ezra that's talking to Ben
Affleck Yeah is that even Batman?Yeah? I mean shorthaired version of Ezra
of Berry is Snyder verse Berry?Right, and we see Michael Keaton's Batman

(27:30):
in the Blue and Gray driving outof the Flying Fox, so we know
that he is Batman. I meanno, I mean like, that's my
point. Is it in this versionis Affleck whatever he's playing, And that's
what I'm suggesting, is like,is he playing something else where in the
Keaton verse that is Bruce Wayne? But whoever it is that I was talking

(27:52):
to. No, it's based onthe dialogue in that scene. I would
say that this was in like Snyderverse quote unquote, because he's saying,
I could I could change the styeverything. You could also destroy everything.
Yeah. Well, And the onlything that occurred to me after watching this
trailer some something upwards of seventeen times, uh, was now, I've seen

(28:17):
this trope a few times where youfind somebody that's the analog like, who
was it? Was it you thatjust watched yesterday? So I was just
talking to me about about the filmyesterday, where you know, the guy
in the film finds like another versionof John Lennon and has this important conversation.
Was it you? It wasn't yesterday, but um, but several days

(28:40):
ago we were talking about that.I mean the name of the film I
film. Yeah, I know thatI was joking. So then yesterday we
talked about it. Hey, Iam just sucking right now. So the
who's on? First? Uh?No, I was playing rightfield the yes
and until this no, the boywas like it is that just a version

(29:00):
where he finds someone that looks likethe person he trust and explains the situation,
and it just so happens that thisguy is actually like, Okay,
well, crazy question, but I'mI'm also kind of a genius, so
m yeah, let's work it out, buddy. What I would be surprised
that if they didn't use the actuallike role. But I also don't understand

(29:22):
chronologically how it must be like rightbefore he returns, right like he's got
to do something where he just realizedhe's fucked up and does the running thing
where he just runs into another universe. That must be the conversation before I'm
guessing he's like, I can fixit, yeah, and you can fuck
everything. I'm gonna do it anyway, Bruce, Okay, yeah, I
literally can't stop you. Yeah.I think this might just be like a

(29:45):
hey, I'm thinking about saving mymom and Ben going like, don't do
it, man, you mess itup. Yeah, I don't know that,
like it's going to be whatever theycall the trope I was talking about.
Yeah, I don't think it's gonnabe terribly convoluted. Yeah, it
has other places, for sure.I like the use of the ZOD coming

(30:07):
out on the STATICU film thing.I yeah, I like that. I
like the version of that happens inthe Burton verse um and I assumed that
shot, like it looks like inthe place where they find Cara, I
assume that shot where the lightning isgoing through Berry and then into the other
Berry is how they give him powersbecause he very specifically says like there's there

(30:32):
are no metas in this universe ormaybe maybe what you're talking about I think
is right, and he go hesaves his mother. Then there's sort of
a help. I created a universewhere there's no metas and then let me
go over to this other union.I don't know, man, I mean,
I'm very confused. I thought thatwas the point of kind of the

(30:53):
story of the trailer as that whenhe says there's no metas, that's when
you see you know, Keaton like, no, he's he's normal, dish.
Yeah, what's your bet though,if you had to pick fifty fifty
gun to your head kind of thing. When it looks like it's Supergirl reaching
out and grabbing a hand that lookslike a dead hand. It looks like

(31:14):
a dead hand. The dialogue itselfin the trailer is it's like when you
walking on, I think her it'sit's the back of her. She's in
the tator sack. Maybe kind ofyeah, I think it was. And
he says, like I created theuniverse, would know, and now there's
no one to defend us. Andthen the next shot in the trailer is

(31:37):
her grabbing what looks like a deadhand. It's just it's emaciated, like
it's look when you look at it, it looks like it's surprising that it
even bends when she grabs it.I didn't even catch that. So the
question would be, though, ifthat's the case, is that gonna be
our Henry Cavill cameo, I don'tthink there's gonna be a Henry Cavill cameo,

(31:59):
Oh, there's not going to be. I think I'm suggesting. I'm
suggesting is that going to be whatwe get? M were at his hand?
It does like Harry enough at thewrist. I don't know, man,
I wonder how much of this isgoing to be in the movie,
since, since you know, theyhave access to all the footage, you
can do whatever the hell they wantto with it with the trailer, and

(32:20):
then it's not indicative of what's actuallygoing to be in the movie. No,
I know, Well, now youknow, but that may cause a
lawsuit apparently. But also as muchas asmuss it were close to it,
the trailer's real late. As faras a release to when this movie's coming
out, I think it's going tobe ninety five percent plus or something.
As far as like shot she've seenbefore. Yeah, well, either way,

(32:45):
I'm excited about it. Um,I don't know. I can't.
I don't know that there's anything elsethan I need to say about the trailer.
I'm excited about it. I thinkthat was good. It was nice
to see even the bits we got, and she does look like a genuine
badass. I like the action, yeah, Like I don't like shoving the
gun in the dude's face and eatinghim off. The thing look pretty good.

(33:07):
Yeah, I don't necessarily need,uh you know, Supergirl to look
exactly like she doesn't Super Supergirl,Woman of Tomorrow, Like I am digging
Kaye enough that I could just I'dbe happy if they let her do that.
Yeah, it'll be fine. AndI imagine whether they do or not,

(33:30):
it's probably indicative of how well themovie does. But you know,
gun James Gunn is saying that thisis like he loves this movie, you
know, so yeah, I don'tknow. Um it's Flash What has it
been twenty years and we're still askingfor a Keano Constantine that's not blonde?

(33:51):
Mm hmmm, yeah, well itlooks like we're still getting that. So
far, so good. The uh, the Flash adds were first place for
the Super Bowl. They beat outall the other ads in terms of social
media engagement, per the Data Analyticsand Engagement Metrics firm Edo, which scored
more than one hundred national Super Bowlads measuring incremental online engagement immediately immediately after

(34:16):
airing the Flashes game Spots took thenumber one spot overall, with an engagement
index of twenty three seventy three, meaning it performed twenty four times better than
the Median Super Bowl commercial. Inall fairness, that was me and I
apologize for miss leading everyone. Imight have watched it until the tears drive

(34:40):
right, I've just waited so longand it was very good. It was
very good. It was so good, and I am down. It felt
like it justified waiting this long, and that was hard to say in this
context. M let's let's let's finishup some of this Flash news U on
Twitter asked James. He says,I'm seriously confused. How is Viola Davis

(35:04):
still playing Amanda Waller? Aren't yourebooting the DCU one that includes Peacemaker,
the whole Suicide Squad and the Snyderverse? Like you said, Robert Pattinson's
Batman and Joaquin Phoenix's Joker is elseWorld's story And Gunn says, nope.
Flash resets many things, not allthings. Some characters remain the same,
some do not, And I feltthe need to mention this. Um.

(35:30):
I saw a lot of people sayingthat the new Flash poster they released rips
off the one of the Black Pantherposters, and the poster is Barry with
his back turned toward the viewer, standing on a platform and Keaton's bat cave
overlooking cave walls and water with Keaton'sbat wing overhead and to Challa's. The
poster they're talking about is to Challastanding with his back turned toward the viewer

(35:54):
standing on a giant stone panther headoverlooking Wakanda from a mountain side. Um
to Challa's in the top third ofthe poster. Berries in the mid third
is a similar foreground composition. Butpersonally, I don't think we're in rip
off territory, aside from the factthat all of these graphics companies feed off
of each other, hill they mightbe the same graphics company. Um oh,

(36:17):
if anything, you need to havea problem with one guy doing the
same thing again over Yeah, notmy posters, but movie posters like everything
else. They're were saying there, how many of those posts were you seen
where it's the kind of like sprayYeah, where people are doing the the

(36:37):
heart symbol and most with all thefaces like, uh, these things are
too rempetitive any way to take anyoffense at that and if if, if
that's a problem for you, that'sa touch grass moment for me. Yeah,
and also, dear god, itlooked good. Fuck off Like everything
else, movie posters do. Uhkind of trend with certain popular compositions and

(36:59):
concepts. The color schemes of thesetwo posters are very different. The lighting
is different. I wouldn't worry aboutit. Besides, if you know,
go look up Drew Strus in hiscomposition and how many times he basically did
rectangle circle triangle like he's iconic.Yeah, he copied himself over and over

(37:21):
and over, and everyone else copiedhim too, like all of these things.
Plus, you know, they're tryingto evoke a certain idea, a
certain feeling, and most people whoaren't sitting around on Twitter trying to find
some reason to pick is just goingto go like, ah, that does
feel cool, because they're thinking ofsome other poster somewhere subconsciously that linked to

(37:43):
a movie they liked. Yeah,so I think this is pretty standard.
I do right before before we goto break, I do want to bring
up I really need you guys tonot believe everything you read on social media.
The loud and shameless among the fanswould have you believe that no one
is interested in James Guns upcoming slate. But less than a day after this

(38:05):
late announcement, Amazon and online retailerswere sold out on Supergirl, Woman of
Tomorrow and Booster Gold passed Imperfect andthen so was Grant Morrison's Batman Omnibus Volume
one and Ellison Hitches The Authority.Tom King actually found his comp copies of
Women of Tomorrow, signed them andgave them out at Third Eye Comics and
Annapolis, which is very cool ofhim. And gun does promise more prints

(38:30):
are coming. He says, justtalked to Jim Lee about everything selling out,
but the fine folks at DC Comicswill have more coming soon. And
he did also list Tone and Touchstonecomics for the DCU. These are these
are comics that the new his DCUwill be inspired by in Tone and and

(38:51):
he listed Batman by Grant Morrison OmnibusVolume one, Grant Morrison and Frank Quiety's
All Star Superman The Authority Omnibus, and Absolute Swamp Thing by Alan Moore Volume
one. Yeah they're doing okay.Yeah, So with that, I think
we should hit a break real quickand we'll be right back. Then we're

(39:13):
back, continuing the trend of JamesGunn knocking out some some rumors here on
February third man, It's awesome, isn't it. On February third, a
Twitter account called DCU leaks and Isee a lot of you guys. Following
that account, m DCU Leaks claimedLuke Eisener was in talks to play Superman

(39:39):
and that casting had begun. JamesGunn replied and said, that's false.
Casting has not begun. As faras we know, it still hasn't.
But here's something interesting that I'm excitedabout. I think it was like the
last episode, and I don't rememberif we was off air or on air,
but I was talking about how theyshould um kind of basically build the

(40:02):
new DCU upon the foundation the bonesof I'm sorry that a DC new frontier.
Yeah, uh well. On hisInstagram story, Guns shared a story
that came from Paul Sheer. Youknow Paul Sheer from the League, and
Sheer wrote, after James Gunns biga d DC announcement, something tells me

(40:27):
maybe it's a good time to revisitthis with a picture of DC's new Frontier
by the late great Darwin Cook. So, I mean he didn't, he
didn't bring it up in his list, but I think it's interesting that he
shared that, because man, itwould be great if they did some new
Frontier stuff. I love new Frontier. I wouldn't mind that a bit.

(40:47):
How even the tone will be okay, m h and uh. He also
addressed the sell the Snyder Verse toNetflix campaign and says this is gun again.
He says, I have to saythis has got to be the wackiest
hashtag ever since one, Netflix hasnot expressed any such interest, although we've
discussed other stuff, and two Zachhas not expressed any interest and seems to

(41:09):
be happy doing what he's doing. And yes, we too have talked,
which is so it sounds like Gunnis talking to Netflix about doing certain DC
stuff and also he's talked to Zachand Zach has not yet expressed any actual
interest to gun about doing picking upSnyder Verse stuff there. When prompted about

(41:31):
what they discussed, gun answered,he contacted me to express his support about
my choices. He's a great guy. Again. He seems really happy with
the massive world building he's doing now, and I think that's probably accurate.
Like, aside from a few likeson Vero or whatever, Zach has not
come out and said like, yeah, I want to do more right now,

(41:52):
like I don't like contractually, Ithink he is like dick deep and
doing other stuff. Yeah, andhe's dick deep even if he wasn't,
he'd have to abandon everything, whichwould completely ruin him. Like you can't
just abandon that kind of contract inthe middle and go back and not like
I mean, he's not just workingon Rebel Moon. He's working on like

(42:14):
Army of Oh I know, yeah, he's got good stuff. He's got
a lot of stuff going on there. Like like, I wouldn't hire him
if that's what his resume looked, like, Oh, you had this this
planned and you abandoned it. WhyOkay, there's that, And then there's
like for it to be on Netflix, it has to be on a certain
deal. It has to be likea reproduction thing rather than like a production
thing, like you'd have to sellcopyrights over it doesn't make any sense.

(42:37):
No, they're not gonna lend ipsover for a second. Even probably might
they actually might like that. That'sperfectly within their balance of licensing a thing
out. I really don't think so. And I'm basing this on two things.
One is Marvel tried it and didn'tlike it, And then after that
Zasloff basically looks like the looked atthe deal for Sandman and said, oh

(42:58):
my god, what the fuck wereyou doing? I don't think they're even
the slightest bit interested, Like maybenot. I'm just saying it's not more
legally. I mean, it's easierthan I think you're saying it is.
But no, I mean, everything'sjust I just don't think there's any chance
they would ever consider it. Maybemaybe not. I don't know. I
you know, I would say that, I would have said about that about

(43:20):
half of the stuff that they've done. I ways said that about them canceling
backgirl, No, they've wrapped thedamn thing. They're not going to cancel
it. I think that was thesame reproduction deal that Hulu had before they
passed it on Netflix. Roughly,Yeah, they could watch them earlier on
Hulu. I don't know. Um. So, there were more stupid rumors
from the scoop mill that said GeorgeClooney is going to be returning as Batman

(43:45):
and James gunns DC you and someoneasked if that was true, and guns
said, absolutely not. It's goingto be a new actor playing Batman,
but someone it's a test. Yeah, yeah, no, my call.
I'm telling you now here you go. Here's the scoop looking at the current

(44:06):
slate. Though there is there's alot of magic. It's literally called gods
and monsters. I think that's interestingconsidering someone just asked James if he likes
Vixen and Gun said yes a lot. So I wouldn't be surprised. I
wouldn't be surprised if we saw Vixenin live action again, soon popping over

(44:29):
to Joker two. Whatever it's calledfidud. I think Falia, dude,
that's it. That's it. You'reright, you're right, you're right.
However, it's supposed to be pronouncingFrench, but yeah. Todd Phillips released
a for Valentine's Day. Released apicture of Lady Gay Gays, the first
actual official picture of Lady Gay Guyas Harley Quinn. She's very close quarters

(44:53):
with Joaquin's Joker, and I don'tknow what tell you. She just looks
like Lady Gaga. She wasn't goingto be able to escape that. Yeah,
not not gleaning anything, but shegot some blonde hair, you know,
but just looks like Lady Gaga tome. Like, I didn't see
like any kind of heart tattoos ornothing. This is pudding or nothing,
you know, It's just it's justher with a nosebleed. Yeah, Yeah,

(45:15):
that's it. Presuma movie for beinghit because it looks like one of
those in you know, in themovie maybe like in the movie world you
have the nosebleed for two reasons, one you get hit in the mouth or
or two you have tuberculosis the consumption. Uh huh, and you're about to
wipe that off with your handkerchief.Uh so, keeping in line with the

(45:38):
idiot scoopers. Butcham said Constantine too, it's not it's not moving forward.
But Entertainment Weekly came out thankfully andsaid, nope, it's still in the
works. That Warner Brothers Pictures,Frances Lawrence is still directing, Reeves is
still lined up to return, anduh so boom and they and thank you.

(45:58):
Ew I appreciated that. Yeah,on a personal level, I'm really
looking forward to that movie. Iwant that. I want that a lot.
I don't want to tell to beone that's acted. Call it DC
else Worlds. I don't give ashit. It's the perfect avenue for that
kind of thing. It is,and I want DC else Worlds. Batman,
Keaton, let's do more. Ican do it. Um Flash if

(46:22):
you want to after this fucking Flashmovie, din't have his own world.
Sure. Colin Farrell on Variety's AwardsCircuit podcast did confirm that his Penguin show
will consist of eight episodes. It'sgoing to be an eight part thing around
Oz's rise to power, feeling thatpower vacuum created when Falcone was killed.

(46:45):
Did he say, no accent thatthat surprised you because you never know what
the hell you're getting out of hismouth. No, because I didn't listen
to the podcast. I read thearticle that talked about the podcast that that
does help and even then like whereis your head go? What what accent?
I heard it in his well sortof you know that thing he's or

(47:05):
the bit of the arson it.Yeah, yeah, I think it was.
It was that when it was thelittle brocause deep he was just talking
about talking as himself. I can't, I can't with him. He's a
chameleon. I don't know. Heheard of Imagine And they've added a bunch
of people new cast members for forPenguin. By the way, uh,
let's see Michael Kelly of House ofCards and Jack Ryan Show, a dash

(47:31):
Low from the Expanse and House ofSand and Fogg, Deirdre O'Connell from Out
of range, Rinsey Flees from Marvel'sRunaways. Uh and of course joining Colin
Farrell as Penguin and Kristin Miliotti. So, Sophia Falcone, I'm getting more
and more interested about in this showbecause I know a couple of these people,

(47:54):
mainly uh, Rinsey from Runaways andthe two name I know Michael Kelly
because my wife watches Jack Ryan. But yeah, um and I pop in
from time to time. But yeah, I'm I'm getting interested. And by
the way, this the same Varietyarticle mentioned that the Arkham Asylum series is

(48:15):
happening, but so is Gotham PD. They're saying Gotham PD is still in
development, okay, which I hadthought a while back. They said Gotham
PD turned into Arkham Asylum, butit might be both. I mean they
kind of did, and I don'tknow. Yeah, I feel from someone

(48:37):
who didn't know the history. We'llsee. Yeah, and I should mention
that, um, All Stars Superman, the the animated movie based on the
lu Grant Morrison Superman is getting afour K release. I did see that.
I've forgotten to look at what therelease date actually was. It'll be

(48:59):
third ninety nine though. Oh itlooks like April eighteenth, twenty twenty three
for that one. And also whathas just been released, which is pretty
fun, the Return of swamp Thingthat came out February seventh, four k
UHD release. They actually put acouple of clips on YouTube and boy doesn't
look bad. And uh, Imean it's four k no getting around that,

(49:27):
you can. Oh my god,but that's you know, that's the
one with Heather Locklear as Abigail Arcane. And I need to go I need
to I've watched those years and yearsago when I was a kid, and
uh, I need to go backand watch those again because it's been a
minute. Good lord, those arebad and awesome. You want to patreon
that one if you want to.If you want to do like swamp Thing

(49:52):
and Return of swamp Thing for apatreon, we can do that down.
That looks fun. That sounds fun. U popping over to TV proper Grant
Gustin y'aul, my friends, neighbors, country brother in Christ. That's the
phrase, My brothers and sisters inChrist. Those of you still screaming,

(50:13):
Why can't Grant Gustin be the flashin the movies? Speaking with Enus Gustin
said he is ready to wrap upthis chapter and move on to what is
next. I'm ready for it tobe over, Augustin said, and that's
not for any negative reason. It'slike when you're getting ready to finish high
school. And granted I don't knowwhat college I'm going to after this,

(50:35):
I might not get into college, but you're excited to wrap up and move
on to the next phase of yourlife. I love so dearly that he
mentioned I'm not getting into college inthis metaphor. Yeah, because there is
a real problem of like getting outof a long term CW show and getting
into some other character. It's hardto do. Yeah, I have not

(51:00):
seen Noised anywhere. Yeah, Well, she had a big development deal with
Warner Brothers, and I guess Idon't know if I still go in after
Zaslavs take over or what. ButI know she she signed a big development
deal with Warner Brothers, so I'msure she's developing lots of different shows and
stuff for them. I mean,I wouldn't be surprised if it died,

(51:20):
but still, yeah, like it. Also, I think she just had
a kid, didn't she. Idon't even know. I don't know I've
lost track or her a little bitin her personal life specifically, but well,
stuff matter, raising a kid.All of these people are good actors,
like they're it wasn't directed. Wellyes, yeah, I mean anybody.

(51:42):
Everybody's had a bad episode. Butthat's part of the problem with the
CWS. You can have a badepisode and sometimes it doesn't look a certain
way, and then you've been therefor eight years and there's the whole pigeon
whole thing. Like at some pointand I really hate to say this because
it sounds shitty, but does Grantgust and just go aheading to start a
podcast, like to keep things rollinga little bit, because my god,

(52:05):
I hope its not a rewatch ofThe Flash. She'll never escape, all
right, I have the highest hopefor that, man. I mean,
he had a career before Flash. It's just that it's the pigeon old thing.
Man, it's the pigeon old thing. I can't express enough that this
is not a knockun a pattern.Yeah, so it's gonna be a minute

(52:28):
before you get somewhere else. EricWallace, the showrunner for The Flash,
was was doing an interview and said, by the way, is one of
the theories about the series finale ofThe Flash is that Barry will vanish and
then and become like the you know, like the lightning Bolt that originally struck
him back in twenty thirteen and turnedhim into the Flash of the first place.

(52:52):
That is a thing. Yeah,it's not unprecedented. It comes directly
from secret origins. Number two, nineteen eighty eight is after a crisis on
infinite Earths, we find out thathe ran and ran and ran around and
became the lightning Bolt and went backin time and struck himself and it was
very cool. I like that.It was very cool story. Someone They

(53:13):
asked Eric Wallace about this, andhe says, I can tell you that's
not happening because I didn't even knowabout that. Like I said, oh,
that's cool as shit. Now we'renot doing that, though, How
do you not know that? Likein your show Running the Flat Okay,
okay, buddy. He said, that's interesting. No, that's not the

(53:35):
ending. It will be a happyending. We want people to be crying
with tears of joy. It'll bea lot of It'll be a lot of
tears and a lot of bittersweet memoriesand a lot of old faces hopefully fingers
crossed. We have to check people'sschedules. I don't want to get people
too excited. There's a lot ofballs to juggle, and a lot of
people have been doing other things. We've moved on, and it's not as
easy. Wanting something isn't enough makingit actually be a reality. Sometimes is

(53:59):
the unfortunate in fact that we justcan't accomplish it due to schedule. Talk
to me six months now and we'llsee what we got. And I titled
that segment of the episode flash showRunner tempers expectations. I thought it'd be
a flash show runner tries to juggleballs. No, it's just a very

(54:22):
specific term. May I suggest, because you're not Mason who's tried something like
this, borrow Mark Guggenheim's cell phone, Oh my god, and call from
that. Yeah, if you're tryingto do something that epic. I still
maintain that Guggenheim's performance as a producerof that event was the greatest accomplishment in

(54:44):
television history. I would love tobe deterred or have other other suggestions,
but I don't know what else Icould tell you. Yeah, now this
pissed me off. Now the previousthing pissed me off a little bit because
Eric Wallace, I've I've talked aboutfor for a couple of years now,
he just loves to give spoilers. He's like, don't worry, everything's going

(55:04):
to turn out five. I don'twant to tank you too much. But
here's the five point plan, right. But here's the thing. He was
talking to the Nerves of Color andhe was talking about story arcs he was
unable to do with the show endingafter nine years, and he said,
I had originally had a two yearplan for the series for seasons nine and
ten, and it culminated with thisincredible two hundredth episode, a spectacular,

(55:28):
wonderful, emotional event that was meantto happen. That was before we got
the news that this was going tobe our last season, that was going
to be a season nine. NowI found myself going, well, I
have a whole bunch of story forforty episodes. Now I'm going to cram
it into thirteen. So it wasn'ta case of what to do, it
was what not to do. Sothere was a mad dash of pruning and

(55:49):
basically the two hundredth episode that Ihad planned that has become the series finale,
So that's kind of the approach, and then I just worked backwards from
there, saying, all right, what are the absolute most important things to
get out in season nine? Whatthings do we owe story wise? What
character of things do we have topay off? What hanging plot was left
from season one? Because season ninereally is a book, and I'm looking

(56:10):
at season one and nine as thebook ends to this journey that the Flash
and his team have been on forall these years. So I'm telling both
now and like, get ready fora little nostalgia, but also a little
bit of paying off things that havebeen into that as early as season one.
There's just so many stories. I'mso bummed. We were going to
do all kinds of things. Ican tell you. We were going to

(56:31):
tackle the Forever War storyline, whichis something that I come up with for
season ten that was going to bea season opener and we've been hinting at
it. I wanted to do afull on crossover with as many characters as
possible, the Blackest Night and storylinethat we started hinting at last year with
Diggle in the Box. So yeah, it kind of bums me out that
we're not going to do that.I wanted to bring Despero and with his

(56:53):
alien friends and have a full onalien invasion that would have featured the Justice
League at the whole of Justice comingin and help Barry. We're not going
to do that either, So thesethings happen. Having said that, on
my bucket list of things I wantto accomplish, you'd be surprised that over
half of them are in. Sothere are spoilers I can't really talk about.
And he also he also mentioned therewas originally when I had hoped that

(57:16):
we had twenty episodes plans to wrapup the Legends of Tomorrow cliffhanger. He
said he wanted to have at leastone, if not a two parter that
wrapped it up, and you know, there will be a little crossover.
There will be a little crossover. We get them back, we get them
out of jail, all these goodthings Booster Gold, etc. Etc.

(57:37):
But when we found out we onlyhave thirteen episodes, that was no longer
possible. We barely have enough timeto wrap up things with Barry and Iris's
upcoming family, let alone who wasDaniel Panabacker playing now, So there wasn't
enough time. So Unfortunately, we'renot going to be able to wrap up
the Legends storyline, which I knowis very disappointing to the fans, is
disappointing to me, Like, dude, what is what is the goal here

(58:02):
to bum us all out so wedon't watch season nine? Oh yeah,
no I That is actually what Itook away from his response was that it
was just a little bit of piningabout, like, well, I wanted
to do this, and this isI have two logistical questions though, like,
well, you know what it rollsdown to. One, how they
even if it was twenty even itwas twenty episode two of twenty two episodes,

(58:23):
How the fuck were you going todo all that? What was your
what was your real planet? Giveme like index cards, ride room style
about the story arc of how youwere going to do all five of those
apparently storylines, including the wrap upof Legends, m and just someone too
someone posted this this article on ourFacebook group, and our buddy Travis Hines

(58:47):
just posted the freaking gift of RonBergney saying I don't believe you. I
don't, I genuinely don't. I'msorry you weren't gonna do Forever War and
Blackest Night and wrap up Ledges ofTomorrow and no, no, you're never
going to be able to pull thatoff in two seasons. That that is

(59:08):
absolutely not like you were not goingto have Like even at the height of
the show's popularity, when they hadthe biggest budget, you were not doing
that. There was no way Blackat Night alone would have taken up your
budget for four seasons at this currentrate. No, there's no fucking way.
And on top of that, Ihope his pairing was our pruning was

(59:30):
good because like, yeah, no, I'm actually excited that he did have
to prune all that down to Xamount episodes and try to get something done.
And even still, like I'm seeingso many people like, damn it,
we could have had it all now. No, we're never gonna have
it all. I'm promise you you'renever gonna have all that. That was
never gonna happen. Please, pleasedon't under please don't take that seriously.

(59:52):
That is an absolute falsehood, Likethat is an exaggeration from I'm sure a
good place. Please don't take thatseriously. Also, I'm just like,
what is his goal here, Like, dude doesn't want to come back Gustin
wanted to end it two years ago. There was no way. There was

(01:00:14):
no way. Well, I guessif they if and the other Flash,
Oh what's over? Oh no,I'm sorry. I'd take to cht on
someone's parade about this, But like, no, it, what he's saying
was never gonna happen, And Ihope he accepts the inevitability of the ending
here and actually gets it done. You know what makes me afraid of though,

(01:00:37):
is like if that's how he feelsabout things, and that's what he's
saying, it makes you worry thathe's going to leave Flash on a cliffinger
for Spike, Like I wouldn't wantto do it either, But I don't
know, I don't. I don'tknow what else that could be coming from,
other than a place of imagination thatdoesn't have any reality. It is

(01:00:59):
bollocks. It is bollocks. Hewas never gonna be able to do that,
never ever, not in a millionyears. We're gonna do a four
episode story arc that does Yeah, you're fucking kidding me. That's a tongue.
How are you speaking of my brotherin Christ? How are you gonna
do Blackest Night without a damn greenlantern? Without all of them without all

(01:01:23):
of the green Yeah, yeah, all the green lanterns, like you need
waking at this point, United writesfrom w B to use all of the
names, all of them. Yeah, they're just like, oh my god,
we were gonna do Blackest Night.Okay, cool, you're gonna do
like big dead Batman. Is thatwhat you're doing, dude? Yeah,

(01:01:44):
just just one black lantern Batman you'regonna do. Uh, you're gonna do
the white lanterns, gonna do allthat shit. No, if we were
for the flash, we were findinghis phrasing and say that he was going
to mention these storylines. Okay,uh huh. Now we're maybe talking,
but even then, like, aren'tyou cock teas And it's more in the
story man, It like the cardsare on the table. You know,

(01:02:07):
you didn't win the hand like carnlike in the story. Yeah. Uh
and uh. Last piece of news. CW's Gotham Knights has rapped filming their
only season, I mean season onevery likely. I know there are people

(01:02:27):
excited about the show. I'm notamong them. I am not either,
And I just included that just tomake that chie let's pop our of feedback.
And I'm also being realistic about likethe CTW. You're shutting down the
Gotham thing Man, not Gotham Knight. They're shutting down DC on the CW
right now. Just it's expensive.Make your peace with that season because it's
probably all you're in get if we'retalking about meistic CWS pulling back, going

(01:02:53):
more to like you know, unscriptedbullshit. And zaz I was not looking
to pay the money for the forthe studio space on a CW show that's
not making much. And I thinkthe only reason Superman Lowest sticking around because
a lot of people like it andalso it is h co produced by HBO

(01:03:15):
Max. Yeah, it has thesubsidizing the Yeah, honest advice for CW
for anybody who's a fan of anythingthat's happened, And I have been not
a huge fan right now, butthere I'm gonna rewatch everything, or watch
everything and catch up and probably finda bunch of stuff that's gonna made me
cry and all that kind of stuff. But honestly, they're they're wrapping this

(01:03:37):
up. Make peace with it.I was gonna say, make peace with
your deer and Fluffy Lord. Yeah, it is what it is. They're
not continuing it also this please rememberthis. We got what we got,
dude, we got what we got. It was a lot. Yeah,
it was a lot. You gotflashbacks to shit you never thought you were
gonna get. You had a wholeseason where where the revelation and it was

(01:03:59):
a fantastic six season. In theflash was John Wesley fucking ship? Like
that crisis thing is, like Isaid before, a thing that should be
reckoned with in the history of television. Like like if Lucille Ball was still
around to acknowledge it, she wouldhave she would have given props to Mark
Googgenheim about that production effort. It'sit's amazing, Like what we got is

(01:04:23):
amazing, but it does have toend. Even tied in with the movie
verse, it tied into the Burtonverse, It tied into the sixty six
like we shows that we're canceled thatyou never thought you'd see again. Look
it is what is all things haveto end. We're here now we are
to feedback. Yeah, we're hereat feedback. Yeah. David Pridgeon on

(01:04:46):
Patreon and also big thank you toDavid for becoming a five dollar patron over
there Patreon dot com, slash dconscreen to join the ranks and hang out
with David Pridgeon. That helped,Who says, Who says, thank you
so much for answering my question. It took a very weird turn l O

(01:05:08):
L. But you guys are hilarious. That was That was last episode,
So you guys should go check thatout and see what the hell we say
because I don't remember. Also,I'm sure it did take a weird turn.
It's us he says. Also, you should look up clips of Glenn
Powell playing Chad Radwell on Scream Queens. I think he'd be perfect as Booster
Gold. I did look up acouple of clips and I agree. I

(01:05:30):
think he'd be great. Yeah.Quick, Glenn Powell on Scream Queens.
There's a great shower scene with himand John Stamos is just fantastic. Non
Powell I was talking about was apossible Booster Gold? Oh really? And
the rumor, No, it wasn'trumors. He suggested it basically in some
interview. Oh, okay, cool. I think he looks the part for

(01:05:56):
sure, ericant looking, strong, job blonde. Yeah, and he was
great in the scene that I havewatched, So I'd been down for that
Effie op Heelder is one of ourlong timinest listeners that's not heard, and
patron says, uh, holy shitthat trailer. Talking about the flash,
I'm much more hyped than I expected. I am rewatching the Snyder trilogy with

(01:06:20):
my girlfriend and she got it.Sorry, she got it. So I'm
very in the story again. Yes, with all the capitals. So I'm
very in the story again. Andthe man of still callbacks blindsided me hard.
But god am I happy there thereme too. That was best emotions

(01:06:41):
for most of the rewatches the trailerwhen I wasn't getting like too academic about
it in a certain way. Yeah, feels arrogant because I shouldn't be using
that work. But yeah, Ithought there would be like a mention of
Zod. I didn't think that therewas going to be like so much of
Zod even in the trailer. Sothat's dope. No, he was fairly
a whole last thing, a wholelast thing. Yeah. Eli Hernandez,

(01:07:03):
also a patron, said, Ilove these long ass podcast episodes. They
keep me entertained at work, buddy, Eli, I'm glad you love them.
We're trying not to do them asmuch because well, the numbers show
the people tune out, but I'mglad you love them. So the way

(01:07:25):
it works definitely one of those we'relike, yeah, you know, we're
gonna try, but also very it'sgonna very succinctly hopefully. The way that
works is the better your read orsorry, the better your viewer or listener
retention is, the more Apple willpush your podcasts. And when we do

(01:07:47):
long episodes and we look at thoseanalytics, it shows that we have a
big trail off people just and ithappens even stuff that I love listening to,
like I'll just I have a thirtyminute to an hour drive. I'm
not gonna I'm gonna forget what havebeen they were talking about in the episode,
I'm not going to go back toit. So, you know,
people trail off. But when wedo like somewhere around an hour hour and

(01:08:10):
a half, they are much higher. It's like something like a ninety something
percent completion rate. So we tryto do that because when that happens,
we get more push out and alsoit's just nice to you know, get
done. Yeah, it's a littlebehind the curtain though for you, it
is nice to actually be able towrapped up and get back to other problems

(01:08:34):
in our lives. But like, yeah, it makes me wonder, like
on the longer episodes, if weshould do part one, two, three
or whatever. But yeah, alot of what we talk about is so
timely, as far as yeah, you know, we can't talk about the
flash trailer in four weeks, right, we can? But oh we will.
I'm sure we'll keep talking about itforever. But yeah, so Helen,

(01:08:59):
for months we'll be comparing the movieto the trailer. The longest episode
is get us algorithmically buried, Soenjoy them while they happen. I think
there'll be few and far between.Zach Champion writes us at dc on screen
at gmail dot com, which isanother we take emails, y'all. Uh,

(01:09:20):
Zach says, Dave and Jason justlisten to the new episode coming over
the d going over the DCU slate, as always, it was hilarious,
informative, and respectfully opinionated. Sohear me out on this. Bring Cavil
back as apollo. I'm not sureI hate that at all. No,
no, that that'd be fun goingover the I mean Harry d Eye,

(01:09:43):
but uh no, I mean, yeah, it's just him and the witcher
Wig. That's all. I thoughtApolo was blond. Now it may not
be. Well, Apollo is blonde. He's like like a golden blond.
I don't know, man, I'mkind I'm kind of color blind, So
this all looks the same to me. You are we But if you put

(01:10:05):
that yellow halo effect on it foran artist so much, you are a
weirdly color blind. I am weirdlycolor blind. I can't tell the difference
in some things. But yeah,if they put like that yellow halo effect
on him, yeah he's gonna he'sgonna look yellow. He could absolutely kill
his Apollo. You're not wrong here, I'd do it. I'd be happy

(01:10:26):
with that. Um. I'd alsolike to see him in the MCU in
whatever the hell that was? Whatwas it? What was the Ultraman or
whatever? That's that's all. That'sEarth three. Well, he's basically the
Superman of Marvel. Whoever he was. He was a bad guy. I
don't remember his name now it's gone. It's been a busy wife, Cindy
Brewer. It's something like that Hypermanor some bullshit. I forget hyper Man,

(01:10:49):
h Perberly Man, like I don'tknow Hyperion Hyperion. Is it a
Hyperion Hyperion? Yeah? I actuallygot there. Cool? Uh I thought
you said Hyperman I did. Idefinitely, I was definitely going to bullshit.
Yeah, yeah it's Hyperion. Yeah. I'd love to see Man take
Gal take uh Cavil and being likethey have like a whole knockoff league over

(01:11:15):
there at Marvel that are at EvilLet's do that. That'd be fun of
ship. Oh you know, wouldbe fun. Just yea, this would
be fun. Uh take all thecharacters who aren't going to reappear and the
you know, the new universe Snyderbeing phased out and most of him most
of these events, and just recasthim as like another universe in the Boys.

(01:11:36):
Uh huh um, yeah, gofor that. That that could be
fun. See what I think Iwould like to see a Cavill try to
out I what's his name that playsHomelander U, I forget his name right
now? And that's attraction because he'sfucking amazing. Yeah he's great. But
yeah, but yeah, no,I think it would be wonderful if we

(01:11:59):
did, like if they did likemove over to Marvel as that like Evil
League or whatever that they're called overthere. Uh something and then like Gunn
has talked to everyone involved about doinga Marvel DC crossover. Would it be
great if like everyone teams up andthen like or is fighting and then like
that Evil League shows up and Barry'slooking at him. He's the only one

(01:12:23):
that's like, oh shit, likehe knows him, he recognizes that's gonna
badly. Cindy Brewer sends us anemail that would be fun if I know
it, says, I know youthink you're gonna watch out for that guy,
Watch out for that guy. Uhhuh um. Cindy Brewer says,

(01:12:44):
Hi, just a quick note tosay, love the podcast, thanks for
all your hard work. I'm inmy late forties and a lifelong Batman is
Superman fan. That being said,I did finally watch The Batman with Robert
Pattinson over the weekend. I hadheld off because I did not agree with
the casting of Pattinson as Batman. Was not happy with that casting at all.
Overall, I did like the filmbetter than I thought I would.

(01:13:06):
Acting if Catwoman was good as wellwas sorry, as was the Penguin directing
was decent. Can one of yougive some insight on the ending with the
dual Riddler. I thought the youngactor was really good and any theories would
be appreciated things. Thank you Cindythe for the kind words. And I

(01:13:28):
don't think there were like I thinkthere was like there was a dual Riddler.
There's the guy who was dressed likethe Riddler, A bunch of people
were dressed as the Riddler, abunch of the Hinch people that were part
of his like little online group. But the one at the very end they
ripped the faith the mask off ofwas the guy who was staring at Bruce

(01:13:49):
in at the funeral cathedral scene. The cathedral scene. Yeah, and now
I know that there are theories onlinethat that's Joe Chill, which would be
fun, It would be fine, fine and fun. But I don't I
don't think there's like really much moreto the theory than like that was just
like one of the dudes who waslike staring down you know, the evil

(01:14:14):
corporate hoobody hobb of Bruce Wayne andthen wound up being one of these you
know, weirdo riddler in cells orwhatever you want to call him. I
do like the idea that like laterChill in the same circumstances which often make
crime where you're just out of sortsresources and luck where like later he sees

(01:14:36):
the same guy, the one hedidn't kill, and just stares him down
too. That's a that's a finesentiment. I wouldn't mind exploring that.
Yeah, that'd be fine with that. But as far as the dual Riddler,
I'm curious too. I'm rewatching thatfilm myself, and I'm I'm kind
of curious about what it leads mewith. But yeah, I think it

(01:14:58):
is that. I think it isjust the uh, the exposition on that
face. There hm possibly not muchmore to it, but I'm curious.
Yeah, I didn't feel like therewas a whole lot more to it other
than just you know, hey, here's you know, he's got a bunch
of guys doing his bidding and thereI mean, of course he had them
dressed up like him as decoys.I would assume I saw the movie once.

(01:15:21):
I haven't watched it again. Imean I've watched it in pieces,
scene by scene it a couple oftimes, but I've seen several of the
scenes a few times, but notin all of it. I've been going
back to it, and I mean, there's the whole there's the whole bitch
where basically it's like a only fanskind of thing where he's like, we
should do this and this and thisright and Riddler's patrons. Yeah, I

(01:15:49):
and this is hilariously enough. Therewas like a dark web version of only
Fans at some point before there wasan actual only fans. And before that,
by the way, they were boltonboards. Oh, the Internet has
never been cleaned. If at anypoint you thought the Internet was ever a
good place, yeah, no,we have. We have lily pads of

(01:16:10):
good where us frogs may reside, the rest of us a murky pond of
porn and crime. Like that's whatthe Internet has typically been used for.
Oh see, like I I,you know, pretty much since I've gotten
online since the you know, midto late nineties, is sall just been
like movie news, yeah, superheromovie news. I mean having in the

(01:16:36):
porn part, which you know, dear God, I have no problem with
watch what the fuck you want towatch? Is like the porn and crime
part of just all of those fiberglassfucking wires being used. It's it's like
sevent of it is used for thatrather than just like like, oh I

(01:16:57):
thought I saw this actress somewhere andI'm just gonna look up real quick and
oh herm dB says it was insomewhere else, dude, Like, even
like even today, I am stillchasing that initial feeling from the day that
I went on to at a coolnews and saw the the pictures of the

(01:17:17):
cast in their X Men uniforms forsingers X men, like, I am
chasing that feeling of excitement every dayand I'm not sure there's a way to
reshine that shoe, but damn it, I'm trying. No, No,
the Internet for me will always beI'm old enough that it will always be

(01:17:41):
that that feeling of excitement of askingyour entire family, like you don't have
to be anywhere, right, youdon't have to call anybody, and then
hearing that room sound, and theneven a couple of years before that,
and I mean seriously, in myfamily, windows three point now, dear
God, and and AOL sending youa disc that you could you know,

(01:18:09):
put in and have like we hadwe had AOL and we got like fifteen
discs a month, ten three hours, like, yeah, we are paying
for this. They used to monetizethe Internet, as though they don't do
it now. I know, butnot by the hour and the units have
changed. Muh So. Andre Sparkssays, Hey, guys, I just

(01:18:32):
finished finished watching Battle of the SuperSigns on HBO Max, and I gotta
say, just like Green Lantern,it was great. I won't spoil anything.
I'll just say check it out. Can't wait for Legion of Superheroes next.
If the new DCU can be anythinglike the animated universe, I think
it would work out great. Keepup the good work. God, that's
the thing that everybody's been saying foryears. I feel they could be like

(01:18:55):
the animated movie. Say'd be amazing. Yeah, could agree more there,
So I mean, okay, yeah, that's like we're so behind all the
animated movies. Oh yeah, Iget The Man Tomorrow or whatever. Ye,
like, I'm not short of theproof of concept on that one,
go for it. Yeah. Yeah. And talking about something we need to

(01:19:16):
do for Patreon the animated Yeah, all the animated shit that's wrong with us.
I don't know time. Yeah, that is the thing that's that is
the thing that's wrong. Literally,if I am it, we'd be done
with it already. If you know, we didn't have to have day jobs.
Yeah. Um, mister Bones overon YouTube. Yeah, we're on
YouTube. By the way, Ifor always forget to mention that, but

(01:19:40):
we are there, uh says keepup the great work, guys. You

(01:20:50):
don't know what I'm talking about itanymore. I'm done. I don't even
I don't know what you're talking aboutanymore. Skullduggery what? Who knows anymore?
We just can't talk about it.What's a skulldugger? Look? If
you don't know, I just haveto kill you fair enough. Wait,
I know what a skull fucker is. It's too late. I've already killed

(01:21:12):
you. I made your decision inthe last couple of minutes. Uh,
you win some, you lose something. Give it time, all right?
Like I said, We're gonna letyou guys get back to listening to the
dark thoughts that creep in when youhave a moment of silence until next time
