Did you ever stop and think? Why spend too much time
just getting ready? I don't knowa single thing that I haven't
noticed. When I see you my heartstarts racing. I don't know if

(00:46):
it's the same thing my headstarts shaking.
But this time, this time.

Tim Stout (01:20):
Today is October 16 2020. Friday the 28th week in
Ordinary Time, and you are tunedinto deacons discussions and
drinks.

Unknown (01:35):
When I see my heart starts racing with the Light
Brown it's the same for my headstart shaking.

Tim Stout (02:23):
Good evening, everybody. Welcome to another
episode of deacons discussionsand drinks. Ah, am Deacon Tim
Stout.

Dallas Kelley (02:34):
I am Deacon Dallas Kelly.

Tim Stout (02:46):
But that's not fatherland. Father Lin is not
here tonight. He's playing

Dallas Kelley (02:54):
hooky. He's, he's gone.

Tim Stout (03:00):
I'm hearing crickets all over the place where we are
live back in the studio tonight.
By the lens off, I think he's,he's on vacation.

Dallas Kelley (03:12):
That would you call it? Yeah, that's his 12th
one this year.

Tim Stout (03:16):
12 vacation. He's probably somewhere in the Lone
Star State with his family downin the Dallas Fort Worth area.
We've got no guest in here. Justtwo deacons and a cameraman. And
we're gonna do tonight, we'rejust gonna talk. And we're gonna

(03:38):
open the phone lines up. So ifyou want to call in, you can
call in. If you want to, youknow, comment on Facebook,
because Dallas is a professionalat that. Feel free to do that.
And we'll take your questionsand your comments what we're
going to talk about some thingssome some things going on. But
the number there is a newnumber. Long story. We're not

(03:59):
going to get into it tonight.
But the this is a little biteasier. 234 deacons 234332 to
667 that's the number you cancall and you can talk to us lab.
It's it's always good to have alive caller because it's a
conversation at that point. Kindof a discussion on steroids if
you will. But put your put yourcomments questions in Facebook

(04:21):
and we'll we'll see what kind ofstuff we get to talk about
tonight. So let's just jump intosome some current events. You
want to go first Dallas Are youwant me to? Because I got a
couple things.

Dallas Kelley (04:38):
I'll go first.
Okay. I was just reading were Mor a judge rules against
reinstating a Catholic studentto the government office over
fears of creating chaos andthink it was in Tallahassee,
Florida, US district judge ruledthat reinstating a Catholic
student expelled from officebecause of his privately shared

(05:01):
religious belief would be chaos, even though he ruled in the
students favor. He did not stealreinstating. I don't know if
anybody's heard about that. Buthe posted some stuff on Facebook
that had to do with his Catholicbelief and the rest of the

(05:22):
student body. Cut a mixtapespelled from the Student Senate.
That's been a while back. It'sbeen a few months back.

Tim Stout (05:32):
It's tough to be a Catholic today.

Unknown (05:34):
Yes.

Dallas Kelley (05:36):
I mean, they're basically you can be Catholic.
Just don't say anything aboutit.

Tim Stout (05:41):
See, I just got a text from my wife says the show
is not on. Are you watching onme? Are you watching on St.
Francis and john? Well, Kelly,

Unknown (05:57):
you need to go to

Tim Stout (05:58):
St. Francis and john.
It looks good on my part. Sohey, if you're out there and
you're watching,

Unknown (06:07):
let us know. So

Tim Stout (06:13):
I've got some some news breaking news that will
affect us. Next week, we willnot have our show on Friday
night. We will ever show onSaturday night, we will be at
cardomom we will not be in thestudio, we're actually going to

(06:34):
be out from Cardon where weusually have mass and it's time
for the drawing for the capitalprize. So you'll see some some
communication this week aboutthe event. We're going to be
doing the drawing live here.
Cardon will do it live duringour show. There's gonna be an

(06:55):
opportunity to come out and youknow, kind of like a tip
tailgate area with socialdistancing. If you're interested
in that, you can come out andtake a look at that.

Dallas Kelley (07:08):
And, and listen to some music and

Tim Stout (07:13):
listen to some music.

Dallas Kelley (07:14):
But if everybody is here who's watching us?

Tim Stout (07:23):
That's a great question.
Your volume up on there? Well, the good thing about this change
in schedule for us is thatthere's another change in
schedule and that's theUniversity of Kentucky football.
Originally scheduled to hostGeorgia next weekend at Kroger

(07:45):
field. They won't be at Krogerfield next week because of
COVID. They will actually be inColumbia, Missouri to play the
Tigers. So there was not aconflicting football game. so
more people can tune in to watchthe show and come out the
cardomom maybe have some food, maybe have a drink, listen to
some music. Hopefully theweather cooperates. It is

(08:08):
getting cold this weekend. ButKentucky will be at at Missouri
on the 24th and now play Georgiaon the 31st. So that will affect
us. We hope you can come outnext weekend and check out
Bassam some tickets on the capobraz if you haven't already
bought them, you can turn yourtickets in. Now. I think they're
due to be turned in now. If youhaven't turned them in a little

(08:30):
bit more time. So let's do that.
And then we'll have a good timeout here. Have some music, have
some food, some drinks, and havea topic we'll have to think of a
good topic for next week. Okay, getting ideas Dallas.

Dallas Kelley (08:45):
Not yet. We got a while I was saying something.

Tim Stout (08:49):
So we your current event. We were just talking
about Catholics in the publicview, obviously, me Kony Barrett
was in the puppy this week. Iwatched some of the hearings.
Did you watch anything? Iwatched quite a bit. I thought
she did a very good job ofhandling what I thought were a

(09:11):
lot of different types ofquestions. I'll be politically
correct there. Obviously she's avery intelligent woman Pino
she's a she's a different typeof person I think than they're
used to seeing up there. Youknow, big family. Diverse
family, right. I've got twoblack children and one special

(09:34):
needs adopted. Seven I thinkseven kids don't seven total. I
can't imagine that. That's alot. That's a lot of kids.
threes. threes a lot. fours awhole lot of six and seven. Wow.
I did see a video beforehearings where they had to film

(09:54):
crew out in front of her house.
Did you see that one I didn'tsee. So they get her coming out
of the house. She's actuallygoing It was the day she was
going to the White House to, tomeet with President Trump, where
he was going to introduce her asthe as the the nominee. And her
husband and her kids. They walkout, they walk down the front
steps. They walk across thesidewalk and they get into, it

(10:16):
looks like a Honda or Toyotaminivan. And they all climb into
the minivan. And she gets intothe driver's seat and she takes
off. I mean, it was it was it'sjust kind of it's suburbia.
Right. It's it's, it puts thefocus back on how important the
family is. And, and at least inmy view, I mean, I know I'm

(10:37):
biased, but we're all biased,right?

Dallas Kelley (10:42):
I mean, I asked her everywhere from abortion
issues to in vitro fertilizationto do you hate puppies. And they
did ask her that. Now thegentleman was kidding,

Tim Stout (10:56):
but but she even got some some controversial
questions. One of them was, whodoes laundry in your house? So
that one, have you ever sexuallyassaulted anyone? Did you see
that one?

Dallas Kelley (11:08):
not see that one?
Yeah. And but the gentleman whoasked her the logic question,
didn't he take some flak? Oh,yeah. He looks a lot like
presuming it would be a womandoing the laundry.

Tim Stout (11:18):
Yeah, it was sexist.
So you know, the lady that askedif she'd ever sexually assaulted
anyone that this lady, thegentle lady from? I believe it
was Hawaii. She says she hasthat of all of her all of the
the nominees now because ofBrett Kavanaugh. So. So I
thought it was good hearings.

(11:39):
Obviously the votes next week. Ithink the votes are there. So
there will be lots of protestingI'm sure. I don't know if that's
good or bad. As we get towardsthe election. I don't think we
need any more protesting butkind of gives me a little segue
into this poll. okay with that.
So as we were getting ready togo on air, we found a ew t ended

(11:59):
up there called their researchpoll number three if you want to
you can Google that look it up.
They surveyed about 1200Catholics on what's your biggest
concerns going into theelection? The top five were
economy and jobs is number one.
Health care number twoCoronavirus, number three,

(12:22):
national security number fourand civil unrest number five. I
don't think any of that'ssurprising.

Unknown (12:34):
No, no.

Tim Stout (12:37):
But then they get into some more detail questions
which, you know, these areconcerning anti Catholic
violence. Are you concernedabout vandalism and attacks on
churches? 83% said yes. Whichhas increased greatly over the
past few months attack onstatues of Catholic heroes. 74%

(12:58):
said yes. Burning of Bibles inPortland, Oregon. I must have
missed that.

Dallas Kelley (13:04):
Yeah, I don't remember that one either.

Tim Stout (13:06):
74% said yes. They're concerned about that. And then
calls to tear down statues andartwork depicting Jesus as a
white European. 74%. Yes. WhichI would think would be every
Catholic Church. Isn't thatevery 90% of Catholic churches
in the US? Would you agree withthat?

Dallas Kelley (13:27):
Oh, absolutely.
So

Tim Stout (13:32):
20% of people not concerned with that. Do you
support defunding the place? Iwas shocked by this 130 3% of
Catholics do not supportdefending the police and
defending defending the policesorry. 59% do support defending
defending the police. Thatsurprised me. 8% didn't have
enough information. And then 83%of the people trust their

(13:57):
police, their local police, which is I would say that's
probably less you'd live in abig city.

Dallas Kelley (14:04):
The other 17% were arrested already. So they
don't trust the place.

Tim Stout (14:08):
They said we don't trust the police. Not much Not
at all. That's a big numberCOVID question. And again, this
is this is a poll taken by WTFCatholics. Was it distressing to
be unable to attend Mass duringthe pandemic? 71% said yes, it
was distressing. 29% said it wasnot distressing.

Dallas Kelley (14:31):
That's a little discouraging it not that I want
100% to be distressed.

Tim Stout (14:40):
Well, it didn't say whether they were practicing
Catholics or whether they werejust Catholic. So you know, the
pandemic 57% of the majority ofthe response gave President
Trump poor marks for hishandling of the pandemic. No,
79% have said the pandemic madethem feel closer to God. And 93%

(15:02):
said it made them feel closer totheir families. Which I think we
all agree with that right? Imean,

Dallas Kelley (15:07):
yeah, they eat more dinners at the dinner table
than ever before.

Tim Stout (15:12):
Even if it's carrier,

Dallas Kelley (15:13):
yeah. Even if doordash is bringing it to me.

Tim Stout (15:16):
I mean, I think that's one thing. We've talked
about that in there a coupleshows, because obviously, this
this is a pandemic show, right?
We started this at the beginningof the pandemic, and we're on
show 26. So it's better. I thinkwe missed maybe four weeks
weekends, maybe. So we'reprobably 20 or 30 weeks into the
pandemic. And we've talked aboutit a few times that Yeah, you
know, the family has become alot more important. You've got a

(15:39):
lot more people focused in ontheir families. And one of the
other places or not get back tothe some of the other stuff in
this poll here in a second. Butone of the other things that
I've seen lately is the and youmight have seen it, too, is the
TV ratings for sports. When theycame back online. We've seen
that

Dallas Kelley (16:01):
we've discussed that I've seen the NBA ratings,
but

Tim Stout (16:03):
it's not just the NBA. It's everything. College
Football is down 30 somethingpercent. Major League Baseball
is down 40%.

Dallas Kelley (16:12):
There's just the Kentucky Derby is down. 70%.
Yeah,

Tim Stout (16:16):
yeah. Well, in the Kentucky Derby was down almost
70% or something like that. Butit was in September, not in May.
So I was reading some of thecomments associated with that.
And the one thing that kind ofstuck out in my mind is the guy
one of the guys said, Hey, wefigured out that sports aren't
that important. You know, andthere's probably a lot of truth

(16:36):
to that you

Dallas Kelley (16:36):
summit, some salaries may be needing
adjusting them enough, because, you know, they charged
commercials about what theratings are, you know,
commercials, prices go down yoursalary, eventually is going to
trickle down. If it can, no,it's part of the it's part of
the

Tim Stout (16:52):
collective bargaining agreements, on most of the major
leagues, that that theirsalaries are tied to ratings. It
will take a couple years, butthey will cycle down and then
there's gonna be a whole lot ofupset professional football
players and basketball playersand baseball players, instead

Dallas Kelley (17:09):
of some of them making 40 million a year that
have to get dropped at 20million.

Tim Stout (17:14):
It's It's It's tough.
But I you know, I think thefamily part of this pandemic is
something I think we should tryto build on. Obviously, we see
it, I think it might ask, yousee family sitting together, you
can see them in their littlepods, right, sitting together in
their groups. spent a lot moretime together. I spend a lot
more time together with my wifeand I have in previous, you
know, because she was at home.

(17:38):
With the pandemic, being aschool teacher, what about your
wife, you spend more time withyour wife just around the dinner
table?

Dallas Kelley (17:43):
Absolutely. So

Tim Stout (17:46):
I think it's been positive. And I think most
families would agree, I wouldhope there obviously is a lot
more stress involved with apandemic. But I think in
general, I think that's stillpositive.
I was just gonna start,

Dallas Kelley (18:07):
like cricket,

Tim Stout (18:07):
just gonna sit there for minutes if you're gonna say
anything. Just some other noteson the Catholics who attend Mass
daily support Trump by 16percentage points higher than
Catholics who attend Mass morethan once a week 58 to 42% 61 to
30. No sorry, 61 to 37% supportTrump by 24 points that attend

(18:31):
Mass weekly, more than once aweek. So, by contrast, Catholics
who attend Mass less than once ayear, support Biden by a margin
of 59 to 36. And those who neverattend Mass support button
margin of 69 to 25.

Unknown (18:51):
What do you attribute that to?
I don't know.

Tim Stout (18:56):
I mean, those that's not a that's not a rounding
error. That's, those are bigdifferences. That's interesting.
Those who set a time to prayeach day break narrowly for
Trump 48 to 47. Obviously,that's close. That's not a big
difference. And those who do notset time each day overwhelmingly
support Biden 55 to 37.
Hispanics who identify asCatholics overall support Biden

(19:18):
by a margin of 63 to 31. Amongthose who go to Mass at least
weekly, more than four and 10support Trump 43. And while
Biden gets 54% of interestingthere. Hey, we got a caller.
It's that somebody's calling inand they're on the screen line.

(19:39):
So once they get screened, we'llwe'll bring him in. This will be
interesting.

Dallas Kelley (19:45):
We have a screener.

Tim Stout (19:46):
Yeah, we did ask them their name and some other things
and

Dallas Kelley (19:50):
well, somebody asked online during the
pandemic. Well during thepandemic question mark, do they
mean self isolation? Questionmark. Not sure what's been asked

Tim Stout (20:06):
about how they feel about the poll if she's asking
about the poll. I mean, I'm surethat that's part of how they
answered that their perspectiveon the poll. Yeah. So Lynn would
you know Linwood, Linwood saysLinwood

(20:27):
Lynn wood, welcome to the show.

Unknown (20:32):
Good to be on the show.

Tim Stout (20:35):
Let me give a deacon john. Oh, Lynn, when they see
it, you guys, I got it. NowLinwood is llanddwyn. Welcome to
the show. Father Lynn. How areyou? Oh, far. Yeah. I thought I
recognize that phone number.

Dallas Kelley (20:56):
Are you doing some cooking right right about
now?

Fr. Linh Nguyen (21:00):
Yeah, I've done all the cooking and prepare for
the family brothers sister toshow up. And we have a power
out.

Tim Stout (21:10):
What's for dinner?
And last night we

Unknown (21:14):
combination of fish head and cake. Don't

Tim Stout (21:21):
Don't say

Unknown (21:23):
no dog, unfortunately.
So I heard the last comment inregard to pandemic Tao in text
is a quite interesting you know, the people protest even the
governor because he he wasearlier he wanted to kind of see

(21:48):
my lockdown the state and peopleprotesting him.
took him to court.

Tim Stout (21:56):
Yeah, that's how New York Did you hear that? Well,
yeah, we're the ArchbishopCardinal Dolan is going to
challenge the the governor incourt over there shut they're
trying to shut shut down theschools I think it has to do
with so it's interesting howthat's how it's gonna play out.

(22:20):
All these shutdowns nowadayswill play play out versus the
first time around or by justkind of took it right.

Unknown (22:27):
Now it's much more aggressive. And then on top of
that, you know, the rally ofBiden and Trump and kind of
crazy.

Tim Stout (22:41):
So Texas has been his has historically been a very red
state. But I guess in the urbanareas very red.

Unknown (22:47):
Yeah. Yeah. It's very red, and blue. And they have a
mind to themselves, I think isvery different to where we are
in tough skin.
They they very rabble rouser.
waseverybody. All my family? They
all have guns. Even my sister inlaw, she probably was for ache.

(23:11):
And carry?

Tim Stout (23:17):
Yeah, it wasn't her age. That was our height web,
right.

Dallas Kelley (23:20):
It's called the height. It's called. It's called
the second amendment

Tim Stout (23:26):
in Texas knows a lot about the second I sure.

Unknown (23:30):
And Deacon Tim you know, Theodore, right. You
remembermy nephew? Yeah. He is a manager
of a gun range. Really.

Tim Stout (23:40):
So the family gets discounts they can go go go get
range time a sound, they want

Unknown (23:45):
a good range.
So I think tomorrow I think wego and shoot.
Yeah.
And then by evening, we willhave Matt celebrate for
anniversary of my sister in lawgrandmother who passed away
about 14 years ago. So religionand gun kind of go hand in hand

(24:12):
apparently.

Tim Stout (24:16):
So there's nothing wrong with that.

Unknown (24:18):
So what is the top is compensation? What's the what
the he did for tonight?

Dallas Kelley (24:22):
Little bit everything. We were just talking
about the

Tim Stout (24:25):
WTO and Catholic po which was taken before the
passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, just about how how Catholics
feel about the current state ofaffairs and the politics. And
one of the things that that wasinteresting was that Catholics
that go to Mass or pray morethan once a week overwhelmingly

(24:48):
support Trump versus Biden. Ithought that was interesting.
What do you attribute that to?
Yeah.

Unknown (24:56):
So right now there's a lot of voices of free I think
the latest one I've heard isfrom Maryland, I believe. alibis
Vir nightclubbers websiteapparently. So preach very
aggressively so could beinteresting

Tim Stout (25:17):
yeah the Knights of Columbus they feel the Knights
Columbus feel threatened as anorganization right now just
because of the axon ChristopherColumbus. They've been doing a
lot putting out a lot of stuffon on Columbus, the true story
of Columbus

Unknown (25:34):
are very, I thought,

Tim Stout (25:36):
very aggressive on that stuff. And at the same
time, we've got thecanonisation. Father Michael
mcgivney coming up by no so it'sit's an interesting time for the
Knights of Columbus and I thinkthey're worried about you know,
how that will be portrayed inthe in the public realm for

(25:58):
sure. So

Unknown (26:00):
they just temple good for the Catholic as well for
Kathy as a church in UnitedStates well declension within
the Episcopal see our faces andand see how they're gonna play
out this upcoming meeting. Sothat's in November is that

(26:21):
right?
Or is it in October? Yes, theydid November November.
So we got November so we'll seewhat what what could play out

Tim Stout (26:33):
there are some there are battles going on in the
church for sure.

Unknown (26:38):
Yes, there's a lot going on in the church.

Dallas Kelley (26:42):
Are you going to be with this very long on the
phone? Are you gonna you'regonna have to go

Unknown (26:48):
well, I've got to go so let's just call it Say hi to
everybody. Hope you're doingwell.

Dallas Kelley (26:54):
I was gonna I was gonna answer a couple of
questions coming in.

Tim Stout (26:58):
Oh, we got a couple questions. Can you answer a
couple questions help us answera couple questions

Unknown (27:03):
well, I've been sure Deacon Dallas can handle it

Tim Stout (27:07):
well, okay, well duh.
If you get any calls or thebishop calls Dallas in just know
that Dallas is doing all thework and convenience why
something happened in trouble.

Unknown (27:22):
So I'm right now planting a while loop a mass I
think the bishop is accepting gouse cardomom for December the
12th so I'm working on thatright now with Deacon 14 and
perhaps even miss Karen rude aswell. So we'll see what happens.

Tim Stout (27:42):
Well, we do have a little bit of a problem. Snow
Yeah, it might snow.

Unknown (27:51):
I told you I'd be tickled the first day of the
snow I think

Dallas Kelley (27:54):
they're calling for snow on December 12. Or is
it

Unknown (27:59):
all later while loopy?

Tim Stout (28:01):
We did we did have a question. We had a question from
a viewer before the show startedand it's on here Facebook right
now wants to know what's theplans for cold weather

Unknown (28:16):
plan for cold weather is to put on a hat mittens
gloves and thick coat

Dallas Kelley (28:24):
and, and bring 55 gallon barrels with wood and

Tim Stout (28:29):
yeah, if you have any extra 55 gallon barrels rust is
okay on the sides. Coat opentops will this will place those
out on the lawn. We can fillthem up wet and start little
fires. Keep people warm.

Unknown (28:41):
Well, grandma manages jab crumb he he offer barrel for
us if we need it.
There you go. We'll

Dallas Kelley (28:50):
have about 15 barrels in

Unknown (28:53):
Yeah, we got plenty of wood at cardomom who have some
fire there. Yes, that's

Tim Stout (28:57):
true. Lots of lots of down tree limbs and stuff. So
and the follow on question tothat was and I don't think
there's really any update onthis. But any plans to go back
out to St. Francis.

Unknown (29:11):
Any plan to go back to St. Francis? Yeah, what's that
conversation need to reserveafter the COVID issues is done.

Tim Stout (29:20):
So I have the vaccine of some sort then right?

Unknown (29:24):
Yeah, after we back into normal some sense of
normality. Even thing fathermark out there actually he's
doing math outdoor. He even alsobe he have a lot of thick
vestments. The stuff that peoplein Poland wore during the Cold

(29:44):
War and that they use for thewinter. So he has this stuff
even offered that clause to us.

Tim Stout (29:52):
By no Sunday morning, or tomorrow morning. It's
supposed to be 40 degrees in themorning. I know Dallas is going
on tomorrow but yes. Has anybodylooked at Monday morning. What
the temperature is gonna be? Ithink it's gonna be cold. So

Unknown (30:05):
yeah, I'm gonna be in a low low 50 or low high 40s. Did
you?

Tim Stout (30:11):
Did you advise the substitute priest to dress
warmly?

Unknown (30:19):
Not yet, but I'm about to text him and Deacon dialers
at least set so he knows.

Tim Stout (30:24):
Okay. All right. We don't want any.

Dallas Kelley (30:27):
Somebody is asking who is the priests this
weekend?

Tim Stout (30:30):
Should we announce it? Or should we let it be a
secret?

Unknown (30:34):
I think we should let it we can announce it. Is one of
our

Dallas Kelley (30:40):
poo is the priest this weekend and how many
firepits will be will they besomebody? Somebody is asking
that. The priest his father, arock

Tim Stout (30:55):
a rock a rock I'm

Unknown (30:58):
a rookie that I've got Okay, that stopped me.

Tim Stout (31:01):
But But what he said but is he's not preaching
though. Who's preaching?

Dallas Kelley (31:09):
Taking Dallas he can? He can Dallas and the
colder it is the shorter thehomies get?

Unknown (31:19):
with peace, peace with great fire that we keep
everybody.

Tim Stout (31:25):
Well, you told us not to talk about politics.

Dallas Kelley (31:28):
Now he said don't preach about anything
controversial. Anything.

Unknown (31:33):
Yeah, put fire. Not with condemnation. Right. So why
new? Thanks, guys. Enjoyyourself a blessing

Tim Stout (31:44):
to everybody. Thanks for calling in. We appreciate
have a have a great time withyour family and safe journey
back.

Unknown (31:51):
Well, well, we'll do thanks, brothers tip. Please.

Dallas Kelley (32:00):
Help. So he did.
He didn't make it. He did betterthan I did last week. Wonder
wonder how he got

Tim Stout (32:07):
the number.

Dallas Kelley (32:09):
He texted me and asked for a really

Tim Stout (32:12):
good. Well, you can give a you can give a guy Heads
Up next time. I was looking atthat number. And I'm like, I
think I recognize it numbers.
But you know, nowadays we don'tmemorize numbers. We just store
them. So

Dallas Kelley (32:24):
when names on the phone. Yeah.

Tim Stout (32:26):
So you got some other questions. Now

Dallas Kelley (32:28):
somebody asked if I gotta get my glasses back.
Okay, I see the deacons. As theypour water into the chalice
mumbling something? What is it?
We're saying a prayer

Tim Stout (32:46):
through through the mystery of this water and why
are you going

Dallas Kelley (32:54):
to share it through the mystery of this one,
select water in whack. It's aprayer that they say, Hey, we
come to share the divinity ofChrist who humbled himself to
share in our humanity. So theprayer of the deacons, while the
priest says a two if there is noDeacon, right?

Tim Stout (33:14):
Yeah, so it's interesting in the missile, the
Roman missile, which, if you'rewatching massive cardomom, it's
the book that's sitting on thealtar that we set up before mass
typically, it's the book that'sheld by the server if we were in
church, and also placed on thealtar, that's called the Roman
Missal. And it has the rightright in and all the prayers,

Dallas Kelley (33:34):
everything we say in a mass is in that books and

Tim Stout (33:37):
is in that book and in some some things are prayed
silently. And some things arenot and it tells you, it tells
you what to do. Yeah.

Dallas Kelley (33:47):
Do the red thing.
Well, when you hear the termrubrics, rubrics means read, do
the red say the black.

Tim Stout (33:54):
Now there's a there's a prayer that Father says that
most priests say to themselves, but before communion, have you
noticed him saying it out loud?
by the body and blood of Christ?

Dallas Kelley (34:05):
Bring us through everlasting life

Tim Stout (34:08):
that that wants typically sit quietly, obviously
at the presider is that justSaturday? I think

Dallas Kelley (34:13):
it even says say quietly. Yeah.

Tim Stout (34:15):
So he's not the first preset that I've been at a mass
with it that's done that. Sogood question. I didn't know
anybody noticed.

Dallas Kelley (34:28):
You ready for another one? Sure. I hear the
term orthodox Catholic. And itmade me think back if you
remember when judge Dhoni was,you know, when she was in
circuit court being asked theyasked her about being an
orthodox Catholic. Now she kindof Ella, do you remember that

(34:50):
particular? It was way back acouple of years ago in 2017, I
think was 2017. She kind of himhauled around and didn't answer
like No, but she's got to dowhat she's got to do. I realize
that. But the question is I hearthe term orthodox Catholic. What
is that compared to the Orthodoxreligion? I don't understand. be

(35:15):
taking on?

Tim Stout (35:17):
Well, I got an opinion, I probably, probably, I
don't necessarily think it's a.
It's not like, though not at myopinion. It's not like the
Orthodox Church, right? It's notit's it. To me, it describes it
when I hear that I think of theway someone practices their
faith, and that they attend Massevery Sunday,

Dallas Kelley (35:40):
and maybe more than that, and believe
everything the Church teaches.
That's the way I take it. Yeah.
But to me, an orthodox Catholicis, I believe, every thing the
Church teaches. And then youhave the Orthodox religion is
just totally separate. It's Itwas a separation between the
Catholic Church in this churchin 1050, for who they are not in

(36:06):
communion with the CatholicChurch, and they came up with
their name, orthodox.

Tim Stout (36:12):
Yeah, because they didn't accept some of the
changes that the church was wasgoing through at the time. So,
you know, I think that's whereit comes from the word or
orthodox means that it's oldschool, don't you say? Is that a
good way to say it again? I wasold school Catholic. Yeah.
Because it is, you know, we talkabout this a lot about everybody

(36:37):
believing in professing what theCatholic Church teaches. It's
hard. I mean, the CatholicChurch is broad, wide. And

Unknown (36:48):
it's,

Tim Stout (36:50):
without getting into the political side of it, just
on the face side of it. I don'tthink a lot of us know our faith
well enough to say that to saythat with 100% conviction.

Dallas Kelley (36:59):
Would you agree that they're an orthodox
Catholic,

Tim Stout (37:02):
but that they believe in and professed every
everything that the CatholicChurch teaches?

Dallas Kelley (37:07):
I would, I would say, Yeah, they do not. Even
though we say the creed everyweek, and we are admitting we do
I believe in the one holycatholic and apostolic church.

Tim Stout (37:18):
Yeah, but I think it's a for most of us. It's a
it's a journey. I mean, that'swhat sin is right? Sin is
turning away from God turn awayfrom something that's taught in
our faith as a practice of ourfaith. We got to find the way
back. Do you agree with that?

Dallas Kelley (37:33):
I totally agree.

Unknown (37:37):
And another question.

Dallas Kelley (37:39):
I'm about to call

Tim Stout (37:42):
any we got to go? No, we don't have a call to
343-322-6673. Sorry, 234.
deacons. We do have seven linesopen. So if you want to call in
and talk or if you just wantedto ask a question, similar to
that. Something about Matt, something that you see a car.
Obviously, being a cartoon givesa different perspective on mass,

(38:02):
especially if you're watching athome. Thanks to our excellent
cameraman, Steve. We get to seethings up close, different
perspective than you would ifyou were sitting in a Pew at
church. So

Dallas Kelley (38:16):
we never did answer how many fire pits would
be building? Wait, I guess wegot to have a meeting on that.

Tim Stout (38:26):
We have a meeting about every Monday bring

Dallas Kelley (38:27):
your own. Bring Your Own fireplace wood and and
no, no, no. smores during man,

Tim Stout (38:36):
I'm okay with the cold weather. I'm not okay with
a cold and wet weather. That'skind of that's kind of where it
gets a little

Dallas Kelley (38:44):
challenge. I remember many me and father Lane
was reminiscing about this abouta week ago. Many years ago, when
we used it, we used to haveweekday masses down at St.
Francis, I think on Monday andFriday. And when we'd show up,
nobody's been there all week. Soyou know, if it's five degrees
outside, we used to keep theheat off. And when Matt started

(39:05):
I went to pour water from thepicture into his hands and it
was a block of ice. He justlaughed and said, I'll pretend
the

Tim Stout (39:16):
what are the words that the priest says? Oh, pours
he

Dallas Kelley (39:19):
mumbles it? I don't know that. When do you
know that? I do know

Tim Stout (39:22):
that. Or to wash away, wash away my iniquity and
cleanse me from my sins. But youknow how know that one? Because
I served for the same priestevery Sunday for like six
straight years. My home parishboville father's father

(39:43):
Macaulay, Charles McCauley. Andhe said that to me, basically,
as I was pouring water over hishands

Dallas Kelley (39:52):
all the time, just memorized it. Do you know
all the Latin responses that aserver used to have to do now

Tim Stout (39:59):
so I was I was Post Latin, so I never got to Latin
mass. You ever been to a Latinmass ever been to Latin mass?

Dallas Kelley (40:06):
I was probably carried into a Latin mass, but I
don't remember being at a Latinmass, never not one time.

Tim Stout (40:15):
It's just not something I'm interested in
doing. Just, there's nothingabout that, that intrigues me at
all. I mean, that makes meanother server, you

Dallas Kelley (40:29):
think the server's got to do a lot? Now
he's got in the landmass. Ithink the server responds, you
know, he's the respondent.

Tim Stout (40:36):
I didn't know that.
So I've been doing everythingI've seen

Dallas Kelley (40:39):
on TV. Yeah,

Tim Stout (40:41):
I've been to an orthodox mass. I've been to a
mass in Hawaii at a in a church, but it was all open door to
doors. very much a culturalevent. So I've been in a lot of
different types of houses indifferent countries and stuff,
but never to Latin mass. So whatare some other those prayers

(41:04):
that they say during mass thatare salad?

Dallas Kelley (41:09):
Well, there's one set after communion the priests
comes up and says, I don't knowthat when either. Remember
father Baba says, Yeah, we

Tim Stout (41:17):
had to leave the school open. So he could say
that prayer. There's a silentprayer. We're supposed to say
before we proclaim the gospel.
What's that one?

Dallas Kelley (41:26):
For it's after?
cleanser fissara cleanses.

Tim Stout (41:33):
I thought that was the ones on the hambo.

Dallas Kelley (41:34):
Yeah, that's after that's after I believe it
or not, that was before. As longas we say.

Tim Stout (41:41):
We need some practice.

Dallas Kelley (41:45):
Interesting.
Yeah. We have a we have a littlestrip that has that prayer out
on a Lambo that most peoplecan't see.

Tim Stout (41:52):
Yeah, we we call those liturgical aides. They let
us do what we need to do when weneed to do so. The priest
obviously has the hard part.
That's why he's got all thoseinstructions. Most of what the
deacon says we've we'vememorized pretty, pretty much
potential right side of thepiece.

Dallas Kelley (42:15):
dismissal, dismissal.

Tim Stout (42:17):
Those are our talking.

Dallas Kelley (42:18):
And a lot of lot of people don't realize that. If
a deacon is present, even if thepope is the presenter, the
deacon proclaims the gospelevery time.

Tim Stout (42:30):
And he does the dismissal to every time.

Dallas Kelley (42:35):
So that would be cool, too. Oh, another one we
say is when we get ready to readthe gospel. We turn of the
priests and say, bless me,Father,

Tim Stout (42:46):
it's too You can say one of two things. Your blessing
Father, Father, your blessing.
Something along the way, we'regetting a blessing. That's what
we're what's happening when webend over. And he What does he
say? There's nobody hears thateither. What's he say? He says
something like, may the LordJesus be in your heart to
proclaim the word. I bless you,you don't even follow us on

(43:07):
ambered.

Dallas Kelley (43:09):
Even if it's a bishop, you say Father, you
don't say bless me, bishop.

Tim Stout (43:15):
This would be a good time to answer my

Dallas Kelley (43:17):
question give a riddle.

Tim Stout (43:19):
So there's a bishop to priest and four deacons in a
room?

Unknown (43:27):
How many people are in there?

Dallas Kelley (43:29):
How many people were in the room? a bishop to
priest

Tim Stout (43:34):
and four deacons. How many people in the room? will
let the answer that on Facebook.
Comments, comments? Facebook, any other questions on there?

Unknown (43:45):
Don't have any.

Tim Stout (43:46):
So one other things I wanted to talk about tonight is
just recently the firstmillennial was proclaimed. Bless
it. I believe we put it on ourFacebook page Carlo. Their price
pronounce this wrong. A kudoskudos was a millennial? He had a

(44:09):
leukemia a form of leukemia thattook his life at how was he
Dallas? Do you remember

Dallas Kelley (44:15):
15 or six day young were young,

Tim Stout (44:18):
but had a tremendous devotion to the Eucharist. He's
his body was actually in tune inassissi. St. Francis had a
what's the word I'm looking for?
Something St. Francis of Assisiwas kind of like his his guy.

(44:40):
And he modeled his spiritualityafter after him. And but he's
the first millennial to be onthe track to sainthood. He was a
video game player. He was acomputer programmer.

Dallas Kelley (44:57):
He was a lover of the Eucharist.

Tim Stout (45:00):
And all that happened in becoming in love with the
Eucharist when his parents hadquit going to church. So

Dallas Kelley (45:09):
I wonder if they don't now

Tim Stout (45:11):
I would wish that they would do so you should look
that up new saint or new newperson on the way to sainthood
not a saint yet. He's he'll bebless it. There's three steps,
right. Bless it.

Dallas Kelley (45:23):
beatification

Tim Stout (45:25):
bless it. What's the second one venerable? And then
sainthood? So I got that right.

Dallas Kelley (45:32):
Well, beatified is.

Tim Stout (45:35):
But there's three steps. There's three distinct
steps. Bear cool, get that tomiracles, miracles to be a
sight. So he's on his way. I'mpretty. That's pretty cool. I
just was worried about that himthis week. And I thought, you
know, it shows how you can leada saintly life in today's
culture. A lot of people thinkthat might be difficult to do,

(45:57):
and especially young peoplemight find that challenging to
do. But here's a here's a youngman who lives in our town who
lived the life like we live ourlives, including video games, if
you're a video gamer, but you'rebeen a video gamer.

Dallas Kelley (46:13):
Never. I've never got into playing games. It just
didn't interest me.

Tim Stout (46:20):
I like video games.
It's kind of my thing. I don'tdo it a lot. like I used to. I
used to do it a whole lot, butnot anymore. So hey, we still
got time for a call if you wantto call in 234332 to 667. That's
234. deacons. Love to love tohave you tell us what's going on
in your life, how the pandemicis affecting you. What do you

(46:41):
think about the Cardo masses?
What do you think about stillbeing added Cardon with snow
underground? I know, Steve'sgonna have to get heated lenses
probably so that they don'tfrost up on him. Lots of lots of
things. We got to make sure thatwater is not not kept in an

(47:01):
unheated place. Right. So lotsof lots of things that we still
have to do. What about fishingreport?

Dallas Kelley (47:11):
I went. When did that go? I can't remember.
Wednesday. Cut several bass. Hecame post that picture.

Tim Stout (47:24):
Was it on? Oh, you take the you texted me?

Dallas Kelley (47:26):
Or is it on Facebook? texted me? I think
I'll just put it on Facebook.
Yeah, I

Tim Stout (47:30):
can't I can't shoot that over to Steve. We're not
that sophisticated just yet.
Sometime. Maybe we'll be able todo that. But not tonight. But
you caught a fish. It was a nicewas that a crappy or was it a
bad? bass? I called several.

Dallas Kelley (47:43):
You know, we caught several bass.

Tim Stout (47:50):
You always go Taylorsville, correct.

Dallas Kelley (47:53):
Yeah. Because it's I like fish in larger
bodies of water. And it's I wasthe closest to drive. And

Tim Stout (48:03):
oh, I know what we were talking about. Steve, can
you get a closer? Oh, you seethe fish on the phone? Here. Do
you think you could see thatfish? Probably not.

Dallas Kelley (48:20):
But the water temperatures dropping? I hope
the fishing picks up a littlebit.

Tim Stout (48:25):
Big Fish Dallas. Got it.

Dallas Kelley (48:29):
There you go. And what else was you going to talk
about? We were

Tim Stout (48:31):
going to talk about to get ready for his close up
against this. This is myofficial ballot for voting. And
I'm actually I want to do apublic service announcement
because I'm doing an absenteeballot if you're going in and
you're voting yourself on theback of this ballot, you can see

(48:54):
that two constitutionalamendments that look like
epistles. This is all thewording. Do yourself a favor
read it before you go and readit before you go in because the
guy behind you or the ladybehind you is not going to be
happy. If you're in therereading three columns of very

(49:14):
fine print that I can't evenread right now because I don't
have my glasses on. But one ofthem is the rewording of Darcy's
law I think is what I call it.
And the other one has to do with

Dallas Kelley (49:27):
term limits maybe terms on

Tim Stout (49:29):
Commonwealth attorneys and circuit court
clerk's judges of the SupremeCourt. So read that before you
go in. And no matter what youdo, make sure you vote right.
Kanye West is on the ballot inKentucky.

Dallas Kelley (49:46):
If you contact me, I'll tell you how to vote.
You're not gonna do it online. Iwon't do it on air. But if you
contact me, I'll tell you how tovote.

Tim Stout (49:54):
So there you go.
Dallas will advise you on who tovote for

Dallas Kelley (50:00):
I was really shocked to see Kanye West, to be
honest with you. Did you knowthat? Yeah, he's still on that
scene? He's, I think he's gotsome ads coming out this week.

Tim Stout (50:09):
Yes. So you got the you get the vote in my district,
you get the vote for apresident. Vice President. State
Senator. Representative. Sorry, that was a United States
Senator, and a state senator, and a state representative. And

(50:30):
we looks like we've got a boardof education elected election
with just one person and rightin, which is a string. And then
City Council. City Council isalways an odd one for me. You
know, all these people runningfor you don't live in the city,
though. Do you live in thecounty? So you got to vote for
eight? How many are there 123 14or 15. On the palette, you got

(50:56):
to vote for eight. I guess weneed to educate ourselves on
these folks. A lot of them. Alot of them are the same names
that I've seen for a long timehere in the city. You know, so
nonpartisan, so you're notvoting for Democrat or
Republican. So if you votestraight ticket, make sure you
still vote for the nonpartisanraces, which includes the Board

(51:16):
of Education, and the CityCouncil, and probably the county
is County, nonpartisan.

Dallas Kelley (51:24):
I don't know.

Tim Stout (51:24):
I think we have a parishioner on the ballot. Did
you know that he's running, he'srunning unopposed, unopposed, so
I can probably say his nameDwayne Ellison.

Dallas Kelley (51:34):
So for what, what once you run for my district

Tim Stout (51:37):
manager I mentioned.
So, vote, vote early. But don'tvote often just vote once. I
don't want to be accused ofbeing like the president tell
people to vote more than once.
But do your civic duty vote. TheCatholic Church does have the US
ACB has put out a document tohelp form your conscience to

(51:59):
vote according to the teachingsof the church that is available
at us ccb.org uS ccb.org just bean informed voter, right? Always
and if you're confused, calledthat house and if you're
confused, called Dallas anddecided, I'm sure we can open up

(52:21):
if it's not to code you can haveyour own line after mass on
Sunday for people to come see tosee how to vote. So no more
questions. No more. No morecomments.

Dallas Kelley (52:34):
Whatever sign of the day,

Tim Stout (52:35):
we got to save the day we might as well just go do
that then. Ready for that? See.
So say of the day I actuallystayed when Steve Rog brought in
his his artwork, I think I thinkyou got the wrong one. Not what
I typed out to St. MargaretMary. I'm gonna be interested to
see how they pronounce this AlecKoch way, I think is it but here

(52:56):
is st other day. This isFranciscan media's saint of the
day for October 16. Today wecelebrate St Margaret Mary
alacoque. After considering andrejecting marriage, Margaret
Mary entered the order ofvisitation nuns at 20. For two
days after Christmas in 1674.

(53:18):
She received the first ofseveral revelations in which
Christ emphasized his love forhumanity in apparitions over the
next 13 months, Jesus stressedthat his human heart was to be
the symbol of his divine humanlove. by her own love, sister
Margaret Mary was to make up forthe coldness and in gratitude of
the world. This would beaccomplished by frequent

(53:41):
reception of Holy Communion, especially on the first Friday
of each month, and by an hour'svigil of prayer every Thursday
night, in memory of Jesus'sagony and get 70 the Lord also
instructed her to institute afeast of reparation to his
heart. theologians who werecalled in declare that Margaret
Mary's visions were delusions, but a new confessor, Jesuit

(54:02):
father, Claude della Columbia, recognized her genuineness and
supported her. Margaret Maryalacoque, died in 1690 and was
canonized in 1920. begunprivately in 1686, the feast of
the Sacred Heart of Jesus wasextended to the universal
church. 75 years later, there'smore about the saints along with
inspiration and Catholicresources at our website, Saint

(54:26):
of the day.org. From Franciscanmedia. This has been st the de
St. Margaret Mary. She wasorthodox.

Dallas Kelley (54:37):
You Thank You think every one of these people
out here were orthodox,

Tim Stout (54:41):
except for the angels. The archangels. Michael
there he was Jesus orthodox. Soyeah, what's Jesus saying?
You're in

Dallas Kelley (54:52):
heaven. You're saying? It's a trick question.
Right? Yes. And we should allstrive to be saying all of us
Definitely.

Tim Stout (55:01):
So nobody's calling in no question. So we've done
our job. It's been a kind of achoppy show for us with no. With
no topic. Oh, yeah. answer tothe riddle.

Dallas Kelley (55:13):
Guys. No, I didn't put it I want to know
answer to the riddle, a bishop,

Tim Stout (55:17):
to priest and for deacons. How many people in the
room for this for? Can youexplain it?

Dallas Kelley (55:27):
Yes, once you're a deacon, you're always a
deacon. And in order to become apriest or a bishop, somewhere
down the line, you have tobecome a deacon. And we're still
a priest, if you're a priest,but you're also a deacon, a
bishop is a priest and a deacon.

Unknown (55:43):
So there you go.

Dallas Kelley (55:45):
And I think I said it. And it's been a few
weeks back when I said it on theair that all bishops are a
priest and a deacon, all priestsor deacons, but not all deacons
or priests or bishops.

Tim Stout (55:58):
That's, that's how it goes. So, hey, next week, just a
reminder, come on out ofcardamom. We're gonna have a
live show. There'll be somemusic, bass, some food, there'll
be raffle tickets, there'll be adrawing, you could walk away
with a grand prize, which is$10,000. Maybe, maybe we should

(56:20):
by chance for the show. Becausewe could use $10,000. You know,
we could we could do a lot witha studio. So if you're listening
and you win the $10,000, and youwant to make a donation back,
just earmark it for deacons, discussions and drinks, because
we could really upgrade thestudio and make it sound so much
better. And look so much better.

Dallas Kelley (56:42):
Right? Yeah, as we want to know how to vote
contact me or, or if you havemoney you want to give me just
contact me. And I'll make sureit gets the fam I promise.

Tim Stout (56:52):
Thanks. Appreciate that. So next, next Saturday,
not next Friday, next Saturdaylabbit carto. And again, as
