Stephanie test (00:00):
Hello, I'm
Stephanie Eccles.
Welcome to Dear Daughters ofGod.
This is episode 19.
Ever felt like a hypocrite?
I wanted to tell
just a short story today, one
that I thought you might be ableto relate to.
So we're going to get right toit.
Have you ever felt hypocritical?
I recently had one of thosemoments.
I was going to get my hearingaids fixed, taking them with me,
(00:23):
but I forgot to take them off.
Yes, these little things righthere.
And I was headed to get amassage done first, so I get to
the spa to get a massage, andit's not until I'm laying down,
about to get a massage, Andshe's about to do my scalp
massage, and I realize I have myhearing aids in.
(00:44):
I can't get a massage with myhearing aids in, so I get them
out, and I put them in mypocket, my coat pocket, because
it's very cold.
So I have my nice hearing aids, these tiny little devices,
safely in my coat pocket, everything's fine.
And I go along with this lovelymassage.
(01:06):
Then I head over To the hearingaid place to get them fixed
because I'm headed out of townand I need to get these fixed
It's so important that I havethem ready When I get there, I
reach into my pocket and I pullout just One hearing aid not two
just one hearing aid just one Ireach back in my pocket
(01:33):
Everywhere.
It's not there.
I reach for my other pocket, butI'm like, no, no, no.
I put them in one pocket.
I turn on the cell phone lightand I start my search.
I put my cell phone light downaround my car seat and then down
underneath my car seat and Ilook everywhere, determined to
(01:54):
find this hearing aid becauseI've got to have this hearing
aid and I'm sure it's got to beright there.
It must have just fallen out ofthe pocket.
I can't find it.
I look behind the seat, underthe seat, the passenger seat,
just in case, just in case.
There's no, there's no otherplace to look.
(02:16):
So I go back to the spa where Igot the massage.
I wait in the lobby until theroom is free where I receive the
massage.
I ask permission to go in thereand look and they're very kind.
They allow me to look in theroom in the sheets with my cell
phone light.
I'm looking everywhere like adetective as if I had a
(02:37):
magnifying glass, I'm lookingover every inch of this room.
They need the room back.
I have no hearing aid.
I Go back out to my car.
I sit down so discouraged Ican't believe that I have lost
this hearing aid My car doorsopen.
(02:58):
It's a very small parking lot.
No one's out there and I think Ido a podcast on miracles, where
we see the hand of God in ourlives every day.
And I haven't even prayed aboutthis.
(03:21):
I haven't even prayed for help, and I'm raising my eyebrow, kind
of sideways at myself.
And my answer to that is, well,I haven't done everything I can
for myself, first.
But inside I'm thinking hmm, isthat really the reason I Realize
(03:48):
hmm Was I thinking that thissort of miracles it's just For
little children, you know thestories we hear, the child loses
something and they've got tofind it and they do find it
after praying.
They pray right from thebeginning.
Is that where my head was?
Is that where my faith hadwithered?
(04:12):
To the point where I thoughtsimple miracles like this were
just for children Hmm And Irealize, I'm afraid so.
I'm afraid so.
So I face that reality See?
And I pray, and I ask forforgiveness for my pride.
(04:39):
and then I ask the Lord for helpto find this hearing aid.
And I reach down, my one cardoor is still open, and I reach
down with my left hand, my nondominant hand, and my hand goes
straight to it.
It's near the back of mydriver's seat, and it's hooked.
(05:04):
This little plastic part ishooked around a tiny strap
almost in the back of the seat, but not quite the back.
I had looked there, but I couldnot see it, and here my hand
went directly to it.
(05:25):
Hmm.
Hmm.
The Lord continues to give ussecond chances.
He wants to be a part of ourlives.
He wants us to follow Him.
It reminded me of thisscripture, found in Matthew
chapter 7, verse 7.
(05:46):
It says, quote, ask and it shallbe given you, seek and you shall
find, knock and it shall beopened unto you, unquote.
The Lord wants to be part of ourlives.
He continues to give us secondchances again and again and
again.
He wants us to ask for his helpand to follow him.
(06:12):
Thank you for listening today.
Have you had a moment like thatwhere you felt hypocritical or a
moment where you felt like yourfaith has wavered?
what about hearing aids?
Do you wear hearing aids?
Have you ever lost them?
What about praying for them?
I'd like to hear about it.
Let me know in the comments.
(06:33):
And for now, I will say farewelluntil we meet again.
