Jim (00:01):
Hello, and welcome to this
episode of Decide on Joy, a
podcast coming to you fromHarmony Spiritual Center in Fort
Worth, Texas.
My name is Jim Kovalt.
Pjae (00:12):
My name is Rev.
Dr.
P.
J.
Stanley.
Welcome, and thank you for beinghere.
Jim (00:17):
And the title of today's
episode is Sacred Me Time.
This is a topic that P.
J.
introduced here so what, what isMe Time, Sacred Me Time?
Obviously, Me Time is notnecessarily sacred, it could be,
you know.
Exactly, which
Pjae (00:33):
is why I put the sacred in
front of it, because there is Me
Time, which it just has to dowith, you know, Me Time is time
that you have for yourself.
Exactly, exactly, but this isSacred Me Time.
And the reason why I call itthat is because it is sacred to
me, it's like a covenant.
So, let me just back up a littlebit and say, That how we think
of that which is higher than orgreater than ourselves is we
think of it as the divine.
(00:55):
There's so many names for it.
It doesn't matter what you callit.
It's just your higher self.
And I think we, to purposefully, purposefully, regularly connect
with yourself.
Your higher self which makes iteasier than to connect on the
fly.
I believe that, you know, wewant to be in touch with that
high self, that divine self allthe time on a regular basis.
(01:17):
So sitting there andintentionally knowing what that
sounds like to you, what thatvoice is, if it is a voice, it
could be a picture.
People see or hear or feel thedivine in so many ways.
So to purposely connect helpsyou to understand what that
looks like or feels like foryou.
When you hear.
A word from on high.
And so I think it's importantthat you take the time to know
(01:39):
what that's like for you.
So that's what it means.
Jim (01:45):
So how is that different
from say.
What most people would think ofas meditation Or is it different
it
Pjae (01:54):
it it could be not
everybody Because meditation has
a lot of connotations on it andsome people think that they
can't meditate For me meditationis a word that has a broad range
of ways in which that you canmeditate but to me meditation is
just taking your mind off of Thethe things I got to do the to do
(02:14):
list all the anxiety in yourhead And allowing something
something To come from withinsome people actually meditate in
the shower some people meditatewhile they're doing dishes
because it's just it's a It's anon thinking situation.
It's a it's an emote.
It's a it's emoting thing It's afeeling thing that you do some
people do when they're gardeningSo I don't talk about meditate
(02:36):
and that is a meditationactually it can be a meditation
in that way so it, it justdepends on what you call
meditation.
But for me, any time that youconnect with your higher self,
that your mind gets quiet fromall the busyness and you can
hear from the inner you, that'sa meditation, however you do it.
That's a meditation.
And so yeah, sacred time couldactually be your meditation
time.
(02:56):
But when I say sacred time, Imean that you intentionally do
it.
That it's not just whenever yougarden once a month or, or
whatever.
It's intentional for, that's,that's why I call it that.
Jim (03:12):
Why, why do you want to do
this?
Pjae (03:13):
Yeah, I just, I feel like
there's so much that, that goes
on.
We're, we're, we're, we're, wehave wonderful brains and
wonderful minds and we can thinkup a lot of things, you know,
but there is a, there's a placein you that knows without
knowing what the truth is foryou.
That knows without knowing, youdon't have to worry about
(03:34):
something.
Like you might be waiting forsomething to happen.
You might need some money forsomething.
Any number of things.
You have no idea where it'sgoing to come from.
You can't think it up.
You can't figure it out or thinkit up because you've worked all
the hours you can.
You've done all the things youcan do to try to get some money
to come in.
And yet there is something inyou that, that is abundant.
that is divine, that isabundant, that's prosperous and
(03:55):
that will just say, don't worryabout it, it'll show up, and you
know that's the truth.
So being able to get to a truththat isn't a logic truth.
It's a spiritual truth.
That is, to me, the importanceof knowing and hearing from that
voice.
And the more you do it, and themore you recognize it knows a
truth beyond a logic truth,beyond a truth you're supposed
(04:16):
to know the more you're going towant to do it.
The more you're going to want tobe in touch with that knowing
within you and live from thatplace.
Jim (04:23):
Yeah, that certainly makes
sense.
Yeah.
So is this something that Is ithelpful to like schedule this at
a regular time or
Pjae (04:35):
I do And everybody is
different.
So i'll just tell you what I dobecause I know I get busy And I
do it at a time when I can't sayi'm I got to get up and do
something So it's always aboutfour or five o'clock in the
morning I'm, not going to bedoing anything at four or five
o'clock in the morning.
There's no place I need to beBut I wake up I'm awake.
So rather than jump out of bed,I just stay there.
(04:58):
I put on some music, some verysoft, calming music, some floaty
music, and just start askingquestions.
That's how you start talking.
You know, hey, how you doing?
Like I'm talking to you, likeI'm talking to a friend.
And I'll say something like, youknow, I'm kind of worried about,
I'm kind of anxious aboutsomething.
And it'll say, I know you are.
Of course it knows, because it'smy higher self but it's very
(05:20):
soothing to know that it's thereand that it has answers I don't
have.
And it's a peaceful place, and Ican just relax from what my mind
is telling me and know there'smore for me.
So I schedule, I, I won't go aday without it.
Number one, there's so manythings that can bother you
throughout a day.
I mean, can you imagine?
First of all, just driving overhere, you know what I mean?
(05:43):
Could have been so many thingsthat that would, that, that
would disrupt you, let alonecoworkers meeting with people in
a market, trying to buy stuff, just the busyness of the day.
And so to have, so I, so I wantto connect with this every day
and remind myself it'savailable.
And even when I know.
It's available.
I still sometimes can't stopmyself from acting crazy It's a
(06:08):
human thing, but I know it'strying to tell me knock it off
And I'm saying go away.
I want to act crazy right now.
So it's your choice.
Jim (06:16):
So Can you aside from you
know, the scheduled?
Meet up.
Yeah meet up period can youaccess that that?
sacred me time
Pjae (06:32):
Yeah And I said, I'm glad
you asked that because that's
actually the point of it Thepoint of meeting regularly is
that you can meet up with itirregularly when you needed some
place Well, you're not in bed atfour o'clock in the morning and
you're out somewhere and you'reabout to get into an argument
someone I would tell you a storybut it's too embarrassing for me
to even tell it because becauseit was just I know wasn't that
(06:53):
Intriguing it was it was crazyand the whole time that I was
doing it You The voice wassaying, stop it, knock it off.
This isn't going to get youanywhere.
And I could not stop because Iwas just so upset.
I could not stop.
And I actually had to have, I'vegot sacred girlfriends that that
I can tell my horrible storiesto, and they, and they just, you
(07:16):
know, PJ, in fact, one of themsaid, put your foot down and
stop kicking yourself.
It's all right.
You're a human being, you know?
So But I knew as I was doing it,that, that my higher self was,
was trying so hard to tell me,and it was telling me, I just
refuse to listen.
So it's on, it's up to you.
It's telling you what to do, butit's not going to hit you over
the head with a bat.
(07:36):
It's just going to quietly say, knock this off.
This isn't going to help youknock it off.
And you can, it's your choice tolisten or not, but then you see
the ramifications of what, whathappens when you do listen and
what happens when you don't.
And so so then it just behoovesyou you can see the great things
that happen and occur and showup in your life when you do when
you just let go of the humanside the need to To be vengeful
(07:59):
or the need to be upset atsomeone or yourself or any
number of things you you'll seethat you'll see how it really
helps you if you if you listen, but you're not you don't have to
You don't have to it's a choice
Jim (08:11):
You know it occurs to me
how How to If, and sometimes
things like, someone says, okay, you need to schedule a time
every day to, to do this thing, and then it becomes a duty.
Is there a way you can getyourself to look forward to it,
(08:31):
rather than saying, oh, I haveto do this now?
Exactly,
Pjae (08:34):
because I, and I'm, I'm so
glad you said that.
The way that it started for me,Was because, I needed to, I
needed to prove a thing to meabout God.
I needed to know, or the divinein me, I needed to know Cause
there's a, there's a, there's a,I'm not a, I'm not a a Bible
scholar, but there's a, there'sa, Bible verse that talks about
(08:56):
tithing and it says somethingabout, you know, go ahead and
tithe and see if I won't pourout blessings from heaven.
And so I thought, okay, let mejust see if you actually do
answer prayer.
So here's what I'm going to do.
So I guess got into covenant andsaid, I would meet with you
every single day.
And I will do what you'retelling me to do as I sit here
and here's what I want.
(09:17):
And so I wanted to do something.
I wanted to I wanted to see ifthe gift that I had, which I'm,
I'm a singer, if the gift that Ihad would actually be something
that I could make a living at,not just as a hobby.
And so that's the reason why Idid it.
So yes, at the beginning, itwas, God, I sit down here.
But it was something I wantedto, to, to find out.
(09:37):
It was really an experiment forme.
It was an experiment.
So, yeah, it can until it's not.
You right?
It's like everything else.
It's hard, or it's a, it's a jobuntil it's not.
Jim (09:49):
Yeah.
Yeah.
And, and maybe if it persists inbeing a job you need to rethink
how you're doing that.
Pjae (09:58):
All of these terms that
you're setting up are yours to
do and to say.
And you could even ask Spirit, you can even say to Spirit, to
Divine actually I'll call itGeorge, you can even say, this
isn't working for me, what's abetter way, how can we meet up
Some girlfriends, I have, youknow, I have, I've talked to a
lot of people who, who meditatein different ways.
I mentioned the gardening.
I have friends who love to beoutside and that's, they feel
(10:18):
very close to divine out there.
So they're just out thereworking in the, in the dirt and
it really feels good to them.
Some people love walking, justwalking, just walking and they
meet up with spirit.
So it's really whatever bringsyou joy normally.
See if you can meet up withspirit there.
Jim (10:33):
Right.
Pjae (10:33):
Yeah, that's what I would
say if you're, if you're
starting off.
Jim (10:36):
Yeah.
Yeah, and I think, you know, that's one thing that does maybe
separate it from maybe the, atleast some concepts of
meditation, which are not aboutconnecting with spirit.
Yes.
Non thinking.
Pjae (10:51):
Correct.
Correct.
Right.
Right.
Jim (10:56):
So it is a kind of
different thing.
Pjae (10:58):
It is.
It is.
And so, yeah, for me, this is,yeah, it's different from
meditation in that meditation iskind of quieting and calming
your nerves, just very calmingand there's nothing wrong with
that.
It's actually very good.
But I'm talking about sacredtime where you actually meet up
with the divine, purposefully.
Yeah.
And I, the, I can't even beginto tell you the benefit to you
(11:20):
for doing it.
But if you try it, you'll,you'll start to see.
And you do it, and it doesn'ttake long for you to see.
It might take long for you to, alittle bit longer for you to get
in the habit of it.
But it won't take long for youto see the value of it.
The value of it.
Jim (11:36):
PJ's sister's calling her.
I'm sure.
Pjae (11:39):
Exactly.
She has a knack for calling me.
Right when I'm in the middle ofsomething.
Jim (11:43):
I don't even know if you
can hear that.
Hopefully not.
Her phone was carrying on.
We're probably at a goodstopping place.
I think that's what he wassaying.
I think the universe is
Pjae (11:54):
saying we're done.
Jim (11:55):
So you can call your sister
back and we will see you or hear
you, or you will hear us nexttime and thanks for being here
and we'll see you then.
Pjae (12:05):
All right.
