Jim (00:01):
Hello and welcome to this
episode of Decide on Joy, a
podcast coming to you fromHarmony Spiritual Center in Fort
Worth, Texas.
My name is Jim Koval.
Pjae (00:11):
And my name is Rev.
Dr.
P.
J.
Stanley, and we are so glad tohave you here today.
I thought we had a great topictoday.
Jim (00:19):
Yeah, today's The topic is
what you know, you know what
that means, and it's, it's aboutWhat's going on?
When you, you know somethingthat you don't have any reason
to know.
Correct.
Any logical reasons.
(00:40):
Correct.
Pjae (00:40):
Correct.
And it just, I mean, it justhappens Well, that's the
question.
I think that's, that's actuallywhat we're here today to talk
about.
To say, does it just happen?
Is it something that we can callup when we, when we need it?
Is it something you can counton?
What is exactly going on and isit something you can trust?
So, this knowing without knowingwhy you know.
That's what this, that's what itmeans.
Well, how could you possiblyknow?
(01:03):
And so we, we have, and it's notjust about negative feelings
that you have, because we, youknow, a lot of people will, will
think about the, you, you walkinto a room.
So energy is everywhere and youwalk into a room or someone
walks into the room and you'rein the room and suddenly the
lights go dim, you know,metaphorically.
And you, you just, you, you canfeel the negative energy that
(01:25):
has just stepped into the room.
Now why is that?
Is that, is that something, isthat you?
Is there something, does thisperson remind you of someone?
Is it really going on?
Is it really about that person?
So I, The question becomes, whatdo you, how does it serve you?
It's always about, what we'redoing here At Harmony Spiritual
Center and at Decide on Joy isto talk about how to have a
(01:48):
great life and how to trustyourself, how to know yourself
by asking all these questionsall the time and not thinking,
not taking things for granted.
So, today we're just going totalk about how do we know what
we don't, what we shouldn'tnecessarily know.
How do we know that?
And how do we trust it?
Jim (02:05):
I don't know if this is
even included in the, under that
umbrella, but I can say anexample, a really specific
example of.
A different kind of thing, butstill knowing without any reason
to know.
There was once when I was out onmy bicycle and I was waiting at
a red light.
And this image came into my headof someone running the red
(02:25):
light.
And so I didn't, I didn'timmediately start a crush.
Correct.
And indeed, someone did.
Correct.
Correct.
And they weren't even in sightwhen I had the thought.
Exactly.
Pjae (02:35):
Exactly.
So what was that about?
What was that about?
And I, I know I, so many people,I'm sure all of you out there
can conjure up a story where youknew something, you didn't know
why you knew, you eitherfollowed it or you didn't.
Either way, there wereconsequences, either
consequences for the good, because you didn't get run over,
or consequences for thenegative, because you did get
run over and you didn't listento it.
And so I, I think what I'masking, what I'm saying, what I
(02:59):
know works for me, because Idefinitely use it and I think it
works, it works for me a greatdeal.
I trust it.
And.
And I don't think that you cantrust it or learn how to do it
until you had experience withit.
You had an experience like youjust had, and then you say to
yourself, How did I know that?
And then you start toconsciously be aware of it.
(03:19):
Just bring it to the forefrontand think, when did that happen?
When have I known that?
Jim (03:24):
So, how do you do that?
How do you bring it to the
Pjae (03:26):
forefront?
Well, you just make a point ofit.
You actually decide.
Just like we talk about here, decide on joy.
Making a decision for something.
Because we have, our minds areso very powerful.
And whatever we focus on, iswhat grows.
This is a, this is a law ofattraction.
Whatever you focus on grows.
So if you decide on something, Iwant to notice this more, you
will notice it.
(03:47):
It's one of the things that wesay a lot is you, you see what
you're looking to see.
You, you, you know what I mean?
So there are times when I thinkthere's a story.
I don't know if it's true ornot.
It's a great story.
I can't, you have to look it upto see if it's true.
The, the internet's out there.
You can look at this up, butthere was something about when
(04:07):
when Columbus was coming acrossthe, coming into the, the
Americas and they, the, theIndians were looking, but they
didn't see the ship.
Now a ship is huge.
It's, it's not that they didn'tsee it.
It's that they didn't recognizewhat it was.
It's like, is that a cloud onthe thing?
What is that?
So, it's not that they didn'tsee the ship coming.
So, the things that come, it'snot that you don't see it, it's
that you don't recognize it.
(04:28):
And so, you can't actually, yourmind doesn't see it because
don't have a place for it.
So, as you are asking yourselfto say, I want to see something,
I want to notice more.
Let me open my mind to seewhat's actually here.
Your mind will do that.
You can just instruct it.
And say, I want to.
Okay.
Yeah.
I know.
It's, it's really quite, itfeels magical, but it just
(04:50):
isn't.
It's the power of our minds andour dis our abilities to decide.
So and why it's important thatwe do decide.
Jim (04:57):
Yeah.
This may be a totally sideissue.
Well, this is a, this is astrange little topic, so we can
go places.
Yeah, but, but something, I readtoday, someone done extensive
like, brain research recently.
The question of whether, whether, You rely on language
to, to think.
Pjae (05:14):
Oh, that's interesting.
Jim (05:15):
And this research said, no,
you do not.
Pjae (05:18):
Okay.
Jim (05:19):
You may need that language
to communicate.
Correct, that
Pjae (05:23):
makes sense.
Jim (05:24):
But, but what they see
lighting up in their brain scans
is not the language area.
Pjae (05:29):
Oh.
Jim (05:29):
Like when you're set to
solve a puzzle.
Or something.
Right.
They would do that sort ofthing.
And it wasn't, it wasn't thelanguage area that was lighting
up.
Interesting.
Pjae (05:38):
Interesting.
Yeah.
And I, and I, that makes senseto me because I, I do understand
that about language and whythere's so miss, so much
miscommunication.
Because what you, you can saysomething to someone and what,
what you say and the image thatyou see in your head about what
you just said can be verydifferent.
About what somebody else sees intheir head using the same words
you just spoke and you seesomething different.
(05:59):
One of my favorite examples ofthat is when people try to give
you directions.
That is one of the biggest waysin which we'll end up in
Timbuktu when we're trying to goto New York.
Because people give usdirections in a way that we
don't quite understand.
And one of the things that wedon't send I don't know if we
(06:20):
think it's embarrassing for usor for other people is to ask
for clarification.
Because it seems like they'vesaid something that is simple
and you should know.
But you don't.
So if you don't, go ahead andask the question.
What do you mean by that?
You just said for me to go upthe street.
I'm sorry.
(06:40):
Is that a Texas thing?
I don't know what up the streetis, because up is the sky.
So what do you mean when you saythat?
And they could be very clear intheir minds about what they mean
by up the street.
Jim (06:49):
And here it's not likely to
be a hill.
It's not likely to
Pjae (06:53):
be a hill.
Valid point.
It's not likely to be a hill.
Yeah, so I'm going up to thestore.
Oh, okay.
Jim (07:00):
Yeah, that's a local
Pjae (07:02):
thing.
It is.
It absolutely is.
So, we were just talking aboutlanguage and we kind of went
down that path, but talkingabout intuition people, if
that's what you want to call it,for me, it's this voice and for
me it comes as a voice, itactually comes as a voice that
says do or don't, whatever itis, it gives me instructions,
(07:23):
tells me some things.
For some people, I've talked todifferent people about How they
know something and they tell methat because I think it's a it
depends on what kind of personyou are I'm a I'm a I'm a person
who uses a lot of language.
So talking helps for me thereare other people who are like
artistic and so Colors come forthem or their nature people And
(07:44):
so I have a friend who when shewants to know something she
asked the universe to send ahummingbird her way And it
doesn't have to be a livehummingbird.
She didn't ask that.
She just said a hummingbird.
So she could get, she'll getthings in the mail from people.
Cards with a hummingbird on theback.
Someone sent her a necklace witha hummingbird on it.
She actually has hummingbirds inher backyard and they'll just
fly through.
Whatever it is.
So when she wants to knowsomething, and she's thinking
(08:07):
about something, she asks forconfirmation.
And the hummingbird.
Is what confirms it for her.
And she works for her so sheknows that she should go forward
with it.
So I think we have that ability.
And she just decided on that.
She decided that that's how shewants to do it.
And she wants confirmationbefore she works, before she
does something.
You didn't need confirmation.
You just, you heard it and youjust thought.
(08:27):
Huh?
What is, what do you mean?
Jim (08:31):
What a cop?
Yeah.
Pjae (08:32):
And you just stayed,
Jim (08:33):
you just stayed Actually,
in my case, it's, yeah.
What was the case?
It's more likely to be an imageor, or okay.
What they call a block ofthought.
And that made it interesting tome.
The thing about language and, and, and, and thought, because
if you don't.
Sometimes if you don't have thewords, you may not trust the
(08:56):
thing.
I mean, if it came to you justas a thought, or as an image, or
whatever, you may be lessinclined to trust it, because we
are very language based.
Right,
Pjae (09:07):
right.
Yeah, so well and and part ofthe reason why I wanted to talk
about this today was to say thatif this is something that you
want to Move forward with thatyou want to increase in your
life.
You have to decide on it andthen say what you need Because
of what you just said, thiswhole block of language, maybe
(09:27):
it's an image.
What do you need that willconvince your heart and mind
that this is a truth for you?
And so you just say that, thisis what I need to know.
I have another friend that saysshe, I don't understand it, but
it works for her.
Something about basketballs.
She just needs to see abasketball.
Can you imagine?
(09:48):
But hey, it works for her.
Jim (09:49):
Hey, if she went to a game,
she'd be seeing all kinds of
women everywhere, wouldn't she?
Pjae (09:53):
Spirit saying, go ahead
and move, whatever you call
that, which is greater thanyourself.
But he's saying, yeah, go.
So, or she had and so, yeah, soyou, you know, already.
I guess that's what I'm askingyou to do, is to believe
yourself.
You already know.
There, so many, there are somany stories out there about
some voice, something, something saying to you, take a,
(10:15):
take an umbrella.
And it is bright and sunny andthere is not a drop of rain in
sight or on the weatherforecast.
And so you go, huh, no, but thatdoesn't make any sense.
And so you argue with yourself, what are you talking about?
And then, of course, later on,you will find yourself outside
in the rain.
Jim (10:33):
Yeah, yeah.
A different, a sort of differentkind of thing.
I just saw this story todayMichael Caine, the actor.
Oh, Michael, yeah, yeah.
Was on a talk show, well, recent, I mean.
And he was talking about how hemet his wife that he's been
married to forever, and he, hewas watching TV in, in some
(10:58):
context and there was thiscommercial for Brazilian coffee
and there was this woman there, and he just knew.
He just knew.
He was like, that, that is thewoman for me, this is, and so he
said to a, a friend.
He said, I, I have to go toBrazil tomorrow.
We're going to Brazil.
I'm going to find her.
I love it.
(11:18):
And then someone else was therewho, who had an ad agency or
whatever and, and, and said, ohyeah, we do those ads.
And, and, I love
Pjae (11:28):
it.
I
Jim (11:30):
love it.
And so he said, okay, well, Ineed to find this Brazilian
woman because, and he said, oh.
No, she's Indian, actually.
Oh, okay.
And he said, and yeah, she livesin Fulham Road.
So he said,
Pjae (11:43):
So not only did that come,
but all the ways in which he
could go out and get to her wasthere and available to him.
So that's more confirmation thatyou're on the right road.
You, you stayed.
And then that car went by.
It's just confirmation.
So, the more confirmation youget, this is why I say
experiment with it, because themore confirmation you get, the
more you understand how to useit for you.
(12:05):
Right.
For you, the decisions that youneed to make in your life.
Because I, because the, what Ido is speak to myself, I guess
here's myself, I'm just speakingout but to the universe, and ask
for not just confirmation, because I might not know what to
do, I'll ask.
What exactly is my role here?
What's my, that's my favoritething to say.
What is mine to do here?
Because a lot of times we thinkthat, you know, we can affect
(12:28):
what someone else is going todo, how something is going to
work out, and it may not beyours to do.
So that's always my question.
Is this, if I have a thoughtabout what to do, I ask, is it
mine to do?
And if I don't have a thought, Iask, what is mine to do?
And, you know, stay, go, leave.
I'm not, I'm not, this is whatthe voice comes and tells me.
Jim (12:47):
Does the voice ever say, we
don't know?
Pjae (12:49):
Never.
It actually says you alreadyknow.
The voice tells me a lot.
You already know the answer tothis.
Oh.
Yeah, I do.
Actually, I guess I just want tobelieve it.
I didn't want that to be theanswer.
Oh, well, yeah, there's that.
It says that a lot.
You already know.
And I believe we do.
Just sometimes we need thislittle extra oomph to believe
(13:12):
ourselves.
And so, for me, it's really justa segue or a bridge.
To really just trusting your ownself.
You already know, but you don'tknow how, you know, and so if
you, so here's how you getconfirmation, and once you get
that and you understand how itworks for you, you won't need
the confirmation anymore.
You'll just believe yourself.
That's really where we're goingwith this.
(13:33):
Yeah.
Okay.
Jim (13:34):
Yeah.
Alright.
That was a good place to stopfor today, And thank you for
being here.
Absolutely.
And I will see you next time on.
Decide on Joy.
Yay.
