I’m taking you with me to "a wretched hive of scum and villainy" to talk to some scum and villains! I put together a get together of just a few of my friends from the beginnings of the Portland underground scene. Let's call them “influencers'' from a day before social media. In part one of four of the conversation, I talk to my band mates from my first band in Portland in the early 90's...
Running a club was fantastic but I needed to find a band and get back on stage!! The new alternative scene in Portland was growing pretty rapidly but I had no idea that the dam was about to break. In more ways than one.....

I had just arrived in Oregon and after burying a Llama I attempted to open a Christian music club just where you'd expect one. On a street known for drugs, prostitutes and sweet smelling Asian sauce, upstairs from a marijuana head shop with an undiscovered flooring issue. Perfect.
I moved to Oregon when I was 20 for what would be the beginning of a lifetime of creating concerts, live music clubs, festivals and bands. You could have never convinced me as I found myself moving from palm trees and sunshine to a small, tree lined farm out in the middle of nowhere. My only real possession, my black Kramer bass with white plumbing tape on the edges. And then...rain....and more rain....and then it really started to...
I didn't fit anywhere in 1985 high school. Nerds and geeks were cooler than me. I was something else entirely. I was a Christian youth group kid. But that's not all...
