Gavin is the former chaplain to Her Majesty The Queen (Queen Elizabeth II), and a former Anglican bishop.  Today he is an editor at the Catholic Herald, and hosts the Merely Catholic podcast.  He is also an author and columnist.

During the 1980’s he was involved in smuggling bibles and medicine into the former Soviet Union. The experiences of being arrested and interrogated by the KGB played an important part in the development of his views on totalitarianism and awareness of the threat that Marxism posed to the faith.

In 2017 he resigned from his chaplaincy to the Queen resigned from the Church of England in 2017. Eventually Dr. Ashenden was received into the Roman Catholic Church by Mark Davies at Shrewsbury Cathedral.

On this episode Gavin and Chad discuss Christianity in the modern era; including progressive leanings in the Church of England (CofE); Marxism's attempts to destroy Jesus and Muhammed; and King Charles III Jungian leanings.
