The spooky season is upon us. Halloween, the time when the veil between the living world and what comes next is at its thinnest. According to legend a time when ghosts, ghouls, spirits, and otherworldly creatures are able to materialize and interact with us.
Today I bring you the true account of an ancient event, a true horror, that shook the people of Macedonia to their core and soon spread across the Mediterranean to every society. What makes this tale so enchanting is that its core it is a love story. A story of a love so deep that it shattered the veil because the gods blessed it and allowed a maiden to return from the underworld to live again so that she could be with her soulmate once again. This horrific incident occurred while Phillip II, the father of Alexander the Great, was preparing for his invasion of the Persian Empire and was well documented.
