Join us as we have a conversation about DEI's role regardless of industry with Nicole Mitchell, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer at Cedars-Sinai. Gain insights from her story as a biracial, working mom navigating diversity equity and inclusion through industries!
Nicole Mitchell implements daily work-life sway as a working mother of two, a wife and an experienced DEI, community relations and corporate social responsibility professional. Driven by her passion of creating space for community, she takes pride in establishing environments for people to connect, grow and find a way to bring their whole selves to the workplace.
As Cedar-Sinai’s inaugural Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer she does just that. She is responsible for providing oversight of an amazing team of DEI professionals, strategic leadership, developing and driving the implementation of programs and initiatives, all with the goal to promote a culture of diversity, inclusion and belonging.
For over ten years Ms. Mitchell has been creating and driving culture change in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai she held positions leading DEI and Corporate Social Responsibility efforts with Kia Motors America and Honda Manufacturing of Indiana. She has developed multifaceted strategies for diversity and inclusion encompassing human resources, employee engagement, philanthropy, communications, and supplier diversity and has led executive-level diversity and inclusion committee activities.
She holds a Master of Business Administration from Cleveland State University, a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace University and is a Certified Diversity Professional through the National Diversity Council. She is a twice published co-author on two academic articles about DEI in healthcare and a featured speaker on many panels and podcasts.
When she’s not thinking about inclusion and belonging in the workplace, Nicole spends time as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., The Links, Incorporated, and lives in Los Angeles with her husband - Nate, son – Carter, daughter – Kaiya and their pup – Chompers.
