Berly (00:01):
Music. Welcome to denim wrapped nightmares, Tipsy
exchange Podcast where weexplore the supernatural series,
episode by episode, over

LA (00:11):
drinks, we'll discuss the lore the gore and what we adore
about the Winchesters and theiradventures.

Berly (00:17):
I'm Burleigh and I'm a new fan of the series.

LA (00:20):
I'm LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now let's get

Berly (00:27):
tipsy. Hello, LA, hello Burly. So did you end up having
nightmares after last week'sepisode?

LA (00:33):
I didn't, surprisingly, yeah,

Berly (00:37):
I totally thought you would. I did too. Very worried
about those bugs? Yeah,

LA (00:43):
there's not any other ones like that. We

Berly (00:45):
got 15 seasons to get through. There's bound to be
more, more bugs, more creepycrawlies. At some point, I would
think so. On our episode lastweek, Dean and Sam had to fight
a battle of the bugs, so tospeak, due to a new housing
development being built onsacred Native American land

(01:10):
where a tragedy had occurred andit was cursed that nature would
take back the land from thewhite man, from the White Man,
they had to fight off a deadlyswarm of bugs and help save a
family. And also, during theepisode, Sam let go of a little

(01:31):
bit of anger,

LA (01:32):
oh yes,

Berly (01:33):
he softened a little bit to the idea of going to find his
dad, and he wants to tell hisdad he's sorry for being so
angry and resentful for allthese years. So it's grown up
becoming a man that littleSammy. But this week's episode
that we're going to explore, latell us about home,

LA (01:56):
home. We start out at their the boy's childhood home, which
I guess we don't know about inthe beginning, but right, it's
Jenny. She's new in town withher little kids. In this house,
we see her daughter, who's what, maybe, like, six ish,

Berly (02:14):
yeah, she was young.

LA (02:15):
Yeah. She's in a room, nice room for a little girl, big old
closet,

Berly (02:19):
massive walk in closet.
Well,

LA (02:21):
we don't see the closet just yet, but her mom's tucking her
in for the night, and she'sscared that there's something in
her

Berly (02:27):
closet, right? But the mom does open the closet at that
point to check and make surethere's nothing in there. She
goes in and says, that huge. Oh,

LA (02:34):
I know I was like, damn, yeah, nothing bigger than my
closet. It's like a separateroom. But yeah, she goes in and
says, you know, boogeyman, nobody's in there. Leave. Starts
to leave, and the little girlasks her to put the chair there.
And Jenny goes, gets this littlechair, like a wooden chair, and
sticks it up underneath thedouble doors of the very nice

(02:58):
closet to try and stop themonsters from being able to come
out after that she Jenny goesback downstairs, and she's just
heard, I think, in the livingroom or kitchen, yeah, she's
somewhere with boxes unpacking, yeah, oh, that's right, because
she's looking at a picture ofher wedding photo with her
husband, and she's all tearyeyed, right? I think that's
actually the very first, well,in the whole episode, I'm like,

(03:20):
where, what happened to herhusband? They

Berly (03:21):
never tell I know. Did he die?

LA (03:23):
Did they get a divorce? Did he just, like, take off? I mean,
it's a mystery. Yeah, that was

Berly (03:29):
weird to me. And then the little scratching noises
started, yeah? And those wereenough to make me like, yeah,
squirm a little. I didn't likethem, yeah, like, so

LA (03:39):
she goes to investigate, goes down to the basement.
Because if she thinks, shethinks, if the rat, the ratchet,
if they're rats, they're gonnabe down in the basement, keeps
going up my nose, oh no, sheheads down. Of course, the light
isn't working in the basement, you know, always, because it's a
dark, scary basement. Uh, she'slooking around, and she finds a

(04:00):
little trunk and opens it, andit's old photos, and there's a
picture of the Winchesters whenthe boys were young, and on the
back, it says the Winchesters, and it says each of their names,
and she just kind of smiles andthen goes back upstairs.

Berly (04:15):
In the meantime, the little girl is upstairs and has
been woken up by the sound ofthe chairs sliding across the
floor and her double doors toher closet swinging open,

LA (04:29):
we see like a figure, or what looks like, it's starting
to be a figure in flames, likejust engulfed in flames. Yes,
and then the little girlscreams,

Berly (04:38):
of course, yeah.

LA (04:38):
She was a little slow to scream. Though I remember I made
notes, she's a little slow toreact. I would be terrified. So
then cut it. Cuts to our boys, and they are in a yet another
hotel motel room, searching forodd stories or whatever it is
they're always looking out for, well, because they're always
looking for stuff to that mightbe dad related. Yeah. First

Berly (05:00):
it showed that Sam had a nightmare.

LA (05:04):
Oh, that's right, he wakes up. Yeah, he basically wakes up
from the little girls screaming.

Berly (05:10):
That was from the mom.
Shows the mom screaming in thebedroom window and pounding on
the glass. It like did a like, cut thing. And then it shows
that. And the only reason Iremember this is because, yet
again, we get an almostshirtless Dean, because he's
laying on his stomach on his bedand like the lighting is just so
that you can see he doesn't havea shirt on, but we don't really
get to see anything. And Sam,who gets woken up out of his

(05:34):
dream and sits up reallyquickly, has a shirt on. Yeah,
so that's why I remember that?
Okay,

LA (05:42):
well, Dean is looking stuff up on the computer. Sam is
drawing a tree over and overagain, like multiple times.
Dean's trying to get himinterested in whatever he he
found a story wise or whatever.
Sam's just stuck on this treeand he remembers. He thinks it's
the tree from their old house.
He's just convinced they need togo, go back, like he he

(06:04):
confesses to Dean that, finally, yeah, that he is having these
kind of premonition dreams. Andfinally tells him about Jessica,
that he saw that whole scenariohappening days before it
happened to her. And so this is,this is maybe, like, second or
third time.

Berly (06:23):
I mean, yeah, because we found out about the dreams in
the Bloody Mary episode, yeah,so that's where he admitted it.
Well, he didn't admit it, butBloody Mary taunted him with it
that he knew what was going tohappen to her and didn't do
anything. I don't think thatwe've actually gotten to see him
have a dream of a character likethis before, where it showed his

(06:46):
dream, and then by the end ofthe episode, we see that dream
come true. I don't think we'vegot I think this is the first
time we've gotten that besidesJessica. I think so yeah,

LA (06:55):
well, because we didn't see him having the dream, right? We
were just okay. We were

Berly (06:59):
just told that he did.
Yeah, so technically, you'reright that it's the second time
he dreamed something and it cametrue. This is just the first
time we're getting to see it.
Okay?

LA (07:07):
So Sam is convinced that the dream is real, since what
happened with Jessica washappened. And he tells Dean that
they've got to go back they'vegot to go back home. And Dean is
not having it.

Berly (07:20):
He had seemed scared.
Yeah,

LA (07:22):
I know I was, I was like, it's like, kind of one of the, I
mean, he was, I feel likethere's another time he's
vulnerable, but it's he was a

Berly (07:28):
little phantom traveler when he was scared to fly, yeah,

LA (07:34):
but yeah, he was, like, really freaked out at the notion
of going home. He was, hefinally confessed that he
promised himself he would nevergo back there. So that makes
sense. And I mean, I'm sure thatwas very traumatic experience
for a little boy,

Berly (07:46):
right? Because he seems to remember it. Yeah, that would
be really traumatizing idea. Andalso, he does make kind of a
little pop culture referencewhere he says, you know, you've
got the shining, when he'stalking to Sam, you just told
me, you've got the shining. AndI think it's funny that way.
Later in the episode, there's anincident where they're trying to
get in somewhere, and Dean picksup an ax and is going out of Oh,

(08:10):
yeah. I was like, is that apurposeful parallel to the
shining, which was mentioned atthe beginning of the episode, or
just a coinciding probably,

LA (08:20):
who knows? Somehow, Sam convinces Dean that they're
gonna go and then we're at a gasstation, and Dean tells Sam he's
got to go to the bathroom. Lionlying to his brother that lion
Dean, he heads behind the gasstation and makes a call to
daddy, and just basically tellshim he's with Sam. He's a little

(08:40):
worried they're heading home. Imean, that's pretty much it. He
does get a little emotionalinterior eye, though, when he's
talking to his dad's answeringmachine.

Berly (08:49):
Yeah, I think he's still stressing about going back home.
Oh, yeah, that he doesn't wantto do that. Yeah. So he's doing
the only thing I think to do.
Can you please stop this for Idon't want to fucking do this.
Dad call me back. Then they're

LA (09:02):
at the house, which we now know is their childhood home,
and Jenny answers a door andthey it's funny, because Dean
starts to lie, like he's like, automatic telling somebody who
who they are. Then Sam busts, and he's like, we're the
Winchesters, and just tellsthem, tells us straight up who
they are, which is good, becauseshe's like, Oh yeah, I I found
some of your stuff last night.
That's so weird. What a quainkydick. But yeah, I thought that

(09:25):
was really funny when Sam justkind of bursted out and he was
like, Nope, we're not lying thistime.

Berly (09:31):
Well, I mean, he fibbed a little. He said we were in the
area. Oh, I mean, you'd growfrom another state to be here,
but we'll, we'll let it slide.
Yeah,

LA (09:41):
they just ask, you know, for nostalgia's sake, and they come
in and take a look around, andshe lets him come in, and she
shows him little Richie in hislittle baby jail.

Berly (09:52):
She calls him a juice junkie. Isn't that what she
said?

LA (09:55):
And then she was like, he's a little bit of it, because he's
like, juice, juice, juice. And.
She says, yeah, he's a bit of ajuice junkie, but I guess, you
know, at least he won't getscurvy. And I was like, What is
scurvy even around anymore? AndI thought it was, I mean, I
didn't know his juice thatprevents it. I don't know. I
just, I was like, that's justseems like a very odd statement.

Berly (10:16):
Only reason I know that orange juice can help prevent
scurvy is because of our flagmeans death. I always thought it
was lemon juice when they ranout, they ran out of oranges,
and then we found out why it wasso important for them to have
oranges is because that one guyon the ship had scurvy.

LA (10:35):
Weird. They kind of casually mentioned that, you know, some
weird stuff used to happen. Andshe starts going into little
details with scratches, and thedishwasher has stopped working
for no reason, and blah, blah, blah. And Sam's like, real into
this conversation. She's like,Oh, yeah, tell me more. What
else. So

Berly (10:51):
was Dean's team. Was like, ah, yeah, yeah, what else?
Give it to me, what else. Andshe's like, I'm sorry, this is
your childhood home. I shouldn'tbe complaining. But the thing's
backed up, the lights flicker onand off and all that stuff.
Yeah. Then the little girl islike, ask them if that thing
lived in their closet. When theywere here. Sam was basically
like, no, nothing was in ourcloset. Because the mom

(11:16):
basically nudged them that way, being like, of course not. Of
course, not. Nothing was inthere, right? Yeah, they

LA (11:24):
just have their little chat with her visit. And then they're
at their dad's old garage, Iguess that he owned, with this
guy, just trying to kind of geta feel for what happened that
night, what how was heafterwards? And the guy just
basically says he was a greatguy. Loved his wife, his kids,
but after that, he went crazy.
Yeah, he wasn't so good. And hejust casually mentions that one

(11:50):
time he went to go see a palmreader that catches their it was
a dean or Sam, I don't know oneof them. They're like, Oh,
interesting.

Berly (11:58):
So what was their name?
Do you have a name and exactlynow. So

LA (12:01):
instead of getting to the laptop and looking it up phone
the phone booth and the giantphone book to find the psychics,

Berly (12:09):
so Sam was reading them out loud, and he got to
Missouri, and Dean went, Wait aminute, and he got their dad's
journal, and on the very firstpage of the journal, it said I
went to Missouri to find thetruth. Yes. And Dean was like, I
always just thought he meant thestate, but maybe this is what he
was talking about,

LA (12:30):
and he was right, because they go to see her. And I love
the actress of pleasers,

Berly (12:36):
Loretta Devine. I wrote it down. I love her. I hope
she's a recurring character,yeah, that'd be nice. I really
like she's always

LA (12:44):
good in everything she does, but, and I really like her
voice, it's very like,

Berly (12:48):
yeah, soothing. And she was like, You boys grew up
handsome.

LA (12:53):
She's damn right. I mean, Missouri got eyes. Daddy was
good looking, right? But, yeah, she immediately knows who they
are, even though she hasn't seenthem in years. And I don't know
if she ever saw him. I guess sheprobably never saw him since he
went to see her after

Berly (13:08):
Well, I mean, he still had his kids, but anyway,

LA (13:11):
who knows? And she's just straight up on Dean's ass right
off, like she gives him shit thewhole time. And I was like,
damn. She's sweet as could be toSam, but she's not taking shit
from Dean. I mean, I loved itwhen she What did she say? What
was the first thing she said,Don't you put your feet on my
table. It was like, I didn't.
She was like, You were thinkingabout it. And he's like, Well,

(13:33):
damn. Which I was like, I waslike, Bitch, Don't be reading my
thoughts. It's invasive. You'reright. How

Berly (13:41):
John finds out that there are all these supernatural
things in the world is becauseMissouri tell them, like she
said, that she basically openedhis eyes to what all's really
out there. Yeah, but she doesn'tknow exactly what was in their
house. She just knows it waspure evils. Is basically, in a

(14:01):
nutshell, what she told them, Ithink, yeah,

LA (14:04):
that okay. And then one of my, I shouldn't say my favorite
parts, but we go back to thehouse, and Jenny had to call a
plumber for that sink thatstopped working, right. And so
he's there, and there's thatcreepy clapping monkey that goes
off out of nowhere that next tohim in the kitchen, and Sam's
baby, jail or not? Sam, oh, myGod, I'm thinking my my nephew

(14:26):
is because he has one of those.
And like my, my stepsister callsit his baby too. So Richie's has
this little monkey in there, andthe guy looks at it and it
stops. So he

Berly (14:40):
squeaking and hitting its symbols. Yes, I

LA (14:43):
don't know why. I don't like it. Just creepy toys are creepy
toys. Children can be creepy.
Yes, and he does everythingright? He does the pipe
underneath. He takes he unplugsit. He even checks the light
switch make sure nothing'shappening. I have a very big
fear of putting my hand down to.
Uh, disposal. And of course, what happens? It starts eating

(15:05):
his hand, and the amount ofblood, a chunk of

Berly (15:09):
stuff like, shoots out of the past his face at first, like
a chunk of something. I waslike, What the fuck was that?
And then it cuts to

LA (15:17):
below. We see it from below the sink. And it's just like
gushing this, just like columnof blood. I'm like, he would be
dead in seconds if that muchblood was coming out of him that
fast.

Berly (15:30):
Now, this was the only gory thing really to happen in
the episode. So I guess theydecided, let's go for it. For
sure it was. I

LA (15:37):
mean, that was the first thing I noticed. I was like,
that is an ungodly amount ofblood coming. There's a lot of
blood one arm,

Berly (15:44):
and it cut back to his face, and another chunk of
something flew past him.

LA (15:50):
Oh, my God, that poor man.
And any and then Jenny's on thephone with the company the next
day or so, and, you know, she's,she doesn't have freaking money
for a lawyer for this guy.
Wasn't her fault. That happened.
I was disconnected. Hedisconnected himself. Yeah, and
the boys are at the door againwith I was gonna say Loretta. Is
that? What was her name? I knowit's Missouri, but what was the

(16:14):
actress's name? Loretta was theactress. Okay, that's why I
wanted to say that. Then, okay,Dean starts just asking her if
they can come in. She says, it'snot a good time. But he starts
to press and Missouri justsmacks him upside his head,
tells him to lay off. Don't berude and say again. Sam smiles
about it. He really, he's reallyenjoying the torture she's

(16:35):
giving to Dean sweet Missourijust tells her, you know, hear
me out, there's something aboutthis house. And Jenny's like,
what? She's like, I think, youknow bitch, right? I know what
I'm talking about. She doesn'tsay that, of course, but so they
go in and she's walking aroundspecifically in the daughter's
room, and she tells them that itwas Sam's nursery, so that's

(16:57):
where everything went down. Andshe says there's definitely an
evil presence there. She saidshe did say plural, that there's
more than one, so it wasn't justone, even though that's all we
saw with the little girl,

Berly (17:11):
right? She said that there was an evil presence there
and something else that shecouldn't quite peg what it was,
but she knew that neither ofthem were the evil that had
killed their mom, right? Once

LA (17:25):
they're down at the house, they're at Missouri's again, and
she's got all these trinkets andspices, sage, yeah, all this
stuff laid out on the table, magical ingredients. And she is
giving them this concoction tomake up and put in these little
bags and tie them off. And shesays that we're going to put
these in the walls of all therooms, and that should purify

(17:48):
the house of any of the evilthat's there. That's all they
have to do. Which Dean's like,I'm sure Jenny's gonna love us,
putting holes in the walls.
Which I was thinking the samething. I wonder what they
actually told her, because Idon't really show it, she just
opens up her home to thesestrangers, basically, and
they're like, can you please getthe f out? Yeah, we need to do
some shit in your house. Like, Idon't know, but I'm sure she's

(18:12):
probably freaked out by thestuff that's happening Missouri.
Basically tells her, you know, don't worry. Go take the kids to
a movie. Once you're back home, everything will be fine. And
then they get to work in thehouse, just busting through the
walls with a little AX, Sam inthe kitchen.

Berly (18:29):
Dean was in the kitchen.
It was dean in the kitchenbecause Sam was in the bedroom
right where once the ghost waslike, Oh, what the fuck are
these people doing? I'm gonnastop them. Of course, Sam got
all tied up by his neck again.

LA (18:44):
Well, in Missouri, Missouri was down in the basement, and
her, her little bag got like, sucked into the wall, and then
she got the whole some like, like a dresser, a dresser slams
into her. Sam is getting like, strangled by a lamp cord,

Berly (18:59):
and he, Jared had Lucky's really good at like, tension and
like, pretending thatsomething's holding him because
that lamp that was behind him onthe floor was not moving. Oh
yeah. So that was all him, pretending that something was
holding him tight, reaching andall that. And it reminded me of
skin where, when he was all tiedup and be like, oh, and try to

(19:20):
get loose from his bonds. Oh,yeah, I could watch Europe had a
Lecky try to get loose fromsomething all day. I was
entertained. And then dean hadfucking knives flying at him.
Yeah, one

LA (19:34):
like barely missed him. And then I like, he throws her like
table over in that's in thekitchen, and they just start
flying into the table, which Ithe whole time I'm thinking, I
hope they're going to fix theseholes and get her a new table. I
mean, I'd be pissed if I cameback to all this. No, um, Dean
hears Sam struggling upstairs, right? Runs up. Save his saves

(19:57):
his little baby, saves littlesigns he throws the. Little,
little thing in the wall, and itreleases, and he saves his baby,
bro. Then they're all assessingthe damage in the kitchen, the
three of them, that's what I

Berly (20:10):
was about to say, is that she wasn't mad. But then
Missouri was just, I rememberSam being like, we'll pay for
everything. And Dean made aface. And then Missouri was
like, Dean is gonna cleaneverything up for you. And Dean
made another face, and Missourigoes, Don't you cuss at me,
yeah,

LA (20:26):
which I feel like for what we saw, went down in the
kitchen, there was a lot moremess all of a

Berly (20:32):
sudden. Yeah, the fridge was open. There was food on the
ground.

LA (20:35):
But anyway, so they take off. Jenny's like, Thanks.
Thanks Thanks a bunch. Thanksfor fucking up my house, getting
the spirits out

Berly (20:44):
right. And Missouri was like, yeah, they're all gone.
But Sam, obviously, Sam wasuneasy. Yeah, he did right. He

LA (20:49):
was like, Are you sure? He seemed hesitant, yeah. So they
decided, I guess, that they hadtalked with Jenny, that they
were gonna just maybe chill outfront for a while, make sure
house is good and whatnot. Andso the boys are in the car, chi,
chi, and Dean's like, remind mewhy we're still freaking here.
And Sam is just, I'm just, Idon't know, man, like, I dream

(21:12):
it hasn't come true yet. Andthen we see Jenny in bed reading
her parenting magazines, and shehas a pile next to her bed, and
she puts it down, goes to sleep, and the bed starts a rocking,

Berly (21:27):
really, like, dramatic, like, like, it's going crazy.

LA (21:30):
Yeah, it's not like, one of those water beds. No, she runs
to her window and is banging onthe window, saying, Help Sam
Caesar, and sees that that's hisdream that he had, and they go
running in which she doesn'tlock her door, not safe.

Berly (21:50):
I was about to say that.
I was about to say, remember, you pointed out she didn't lock
her door. They were able to justrun right in, which is the only
reason why we think that theymust have talked about this
beforehand, like she must haveknown, yeah, that they were
going to sit out there and keepan eye on her because she knew
to run to the window and yell, and the door was unlocked. So we
think it was preconceived,right?

LA (22:11):
I think they make a plan.
Dean goes to get Jenny and Samgoes to get the kids. She can't
get out of her room. She'slocked in a room with that bed
bedrock and everywhere. Deankicks down the door, which
there's weird editing somethingthere. Really weird cut looks
like he literally just bust downthe whole door. But then it's
like, still there you see thatit's supposedly swung open, but
I didn't see any swinging. Theyrun out. Sam goes to get the

(22:34):
kids, gets Richie first, thengets sorry. And

Berly (22:39):
when he goes into saris room, the fire, the fire, fire
there. Yeah,

LA (22:44):
spirit, whatever. And he's like, Don't look. Don't look.
He's so sweet. Dean and Jennyare outside, and they're just
kind of like, standing therewaiting, like, Where, where are
the kids? Where's Sam and Sam?
Sam does the same thing as Daddydid. He

Berly (22:59):
did. He

LA (23:00):
tells them, take your brother. Or to sorry. He's like,
take your brother, go outside,run.

Berly (23:05):
I

LA (23:05):
mean, it's literally, it was so sweet. It

Berly (23:07):
was such a parallel. We both looked at each other. We're
like, oh, it's like, in thefirst episode,

LA (23:13):
He's just like his daddy. So the kids come out. They tell
Dean that something got Sam,because he gets like, sucked
into the stairway or the kitchensomewhere,

Berly (23:22):
yeah and the door slam, yeah, behind the kids, like the
kids got out, yeah and the doorslammed.

LA (23:27):
Sam's getting his ass kicked in the kitchen. I mean, they,
whatever it is, throws him intothe cabinets. And I was worried
about his hips, his back. I waslike, they could have broken a
hip, or a back or something. MyGod, with the Force, he got
slammed into that thing.

Berly (23:43):
And I'm sure it was a stunt person, yeah, but it
looked like Jared Padilla, yeah.
And I'm just thinking this sevenfoot monster getting thrown
around into the kitchen cabinet.
What? What

LA (23:55):
is able to do that? What

Berly (23:56):
is happening

LA (23:57):
in the meantime, Dean, of course, has to go try and save
his baby bro, and gets hislittle AX, like you were saying,
starts whacking at the door, which the whole time I'm like,
why is he not whacking thedoorbell to get the door, or the
doorbell the doorknob, to getthat to come off, to get in,

Berly (24:12):
right? And that's when we decided it must be like an
intentional nod to the shining, since they brought that up
earlier. But maybe it wasn't.
Maybe Dean just isn't thatsmart. La, he

LA (24:24):
runs in and sees that Sam is just smack against a wall.

Berly (24:28):
Jared padelecki doing that tension thing again.

LA (24:31):
He was doing it again. He's like, trying to pull his arm off
of the wall. But can't he justland against the wall?

Berly (24:38):
Maybe I do like Jared padalekli, defenseless and like,
immobile. Oh

LA (24:43):
yeah. What's that about?

Berly (24:44):
Why do I like it?
Someone's struggling. Oh, myGod. What's wrong with me? We'll

LA (24:48):
have to unpack that enough.
I

Berly (24:49):
don't know if we should.

LA (24:52):
Gene comes in, tries to get him off the wall. They turn
around and see the the flamingspirit again. And. And they're
flaming.

Berly (25:01):
They come in like, Hey, girl, hey.

LA (25:05):
Okay, the flames, the man or the entity engulfed in flames
there. Dean's ready to shoot.
Sam says, No. Dean says, why?
Sam says, because I know who itis. It

Berly (25:18):
was very dramatic. Thank

LA (25:19):
you. And it's mama. Turns out it's mommy. She's beautiful.

Berly (25:26):
I didn't notice, like, obviously, it's the same actress
from the first episode. I justdidn't notice she's freaking
gorgeous. Yeah,

LA (25:34):
she, like, I said, I think I feel like she could play Robin
Wright's sister. Yeah,

Berly (25:40):
shout out. Samantha Smith, you hot, yeah,

LA (25:42):
get it. Girl, why do I keep saying that?

Berly (25:46):
Because we're old, middle age of women, and we say things
like, you go. Girl, get it. Getit. Girl, and

LA (25:54):
so she now she goes up to Dean,

Berly (25:57):
like, a moment with Dean.
He's like, mom. And she justkind of looks at it. She just
says, Dean, yeah. And she'slike, Dean, but she very
specifically went to Sam, andwas looking directly at Sam when
she said, I'm sorry, yeah. Sowhat's that about? What's

LA (26:11):
she sorry for?

Berly (26:12):
What'd you do? Because he looks confused, and she and she
doesn't address it. She justsays, I'm sorry, and then turns
around to go save their asses.

LA (26:21):
Yeah, which I well, but I was like, confused up until we
were like, she started talkingto another spirit. Because I was
like, Is she the bad spirit inthis house? Like she the one
taking the in the kid's room andall this shit? I was like, what
is happening? But then she turnsaround, tells whatever it is,
like, leave my boys alone. Leavemy boys alone. Get out of this
house and just like the flamesgo up and they disappear, then

(26:44):
it flashes to the next day,Missouri's there, and she's
definitely sure this timethere's no more spirit. Yeah,
and Sam kind of asks her what'shappening to him, and she
doesn't really have an answerfor him. I know I felt so bad
for him, but she clearly knowsthat some he's got some powerful
gift, because then she's back athome, sets her purse down and

(27:07):
says that he has a powerfulenergy or something, and she's
like but what I can't figure outis why he didn't even know his
or he didn't Feel his ownfather's presence. And lo and
behold, who's sitting on hercouch?

Berly (27:24):
It's John Winchester, yeah. And I remember, I remember
whatever the credits were firstrolling as the episode was
playing, we saw guest starringJeffrey Dean Morgan, and we were
both like Daddy Winchester inthe house. And I remember we
were at the end of the episode, the house was safe, things were
going well, and you going, wherethe fuck is Jeffrey or Morgan?

LA (27:49):
But when it cut to her house, I was like, Oh, he's
coming up. Yeah.

Berly (27:52):
He finally appeared at the very end,

LA (27:56):
and he basically asks her, you know, are you sure it was
Mary? And she tells him, youknow, she could slap him for not
talking to his sons. And hetells her, of course, he wants
to talk to his boys, but hecan't.

Berly (28:11):
He can't. He just can't, not until he learns the truth
exactly which I thought Missouriknew the truth. Yeah, she's kind
of in and out on her ability, right? Little inconsistent there
Missouri,

LA (28:25):
so that is home, yay.

Berly (28:27):
I liked this episode.
Yeah, I

LA (28:29):
did too. I liked it a lot. I liked going back home.

Berly (28:32):
I liked seeing that Sam was kind of the one taking
charge, yes, oh yeah. You know,Dean was more reluctant and
scared, and, you know, hesitant, and Sam really taking charge. I
love Missouri. Oh my god, yeah, she's the best part. I love her.
I hope she's back moreobviously, getting to see daddy

(28:53):
when Chester was nice. So a lot.
This was a good one. I reallyliked this one. Yeah. Now as far
as lore goes, Do you remember mycondo over off University? Yes,
and the poltergeist I had? Thank

LA (29:13):
god, yes, I still swear y'all were messing with us
sometimes I swear

Berly (29:18):
we weren't. And honestly, I think that I was just a super
shitty roommate, and that thestress intention of me being a
shitty roommate is what made thepoltergeist happen,

LA (29:30):
poor Libby, as it was in her room. I

Berly (29:32):
know that's my point. Is.
I think I stressed Libby out sobad that, because after she
moved out, nothing happened.
Yeah, it all stopped after shemoved out, but we would see this
black shadow figure walkingacross the wall. And I remember
one night, my roommate and Itook turns driving around trying
to recreate the shadow of theperson walking and multiple

(29:56):
people saw this shadow walkingacross. Was the room, the room
at the end of the hallway, people would go to the kitchen,
and if you were in the kitchenby yourself and leaned over in
the fridge, you'd feel somebodytap your shoulder, and there
wouldn't be anybody there. And Iremember more than once I came
out of my bedroom into theliving room. We had a change jar

(30:18):
in the living room, and there'dbe change, like loose change,
thrown all over the living roomthat me and my roommate, neither
one of us did it. We would swearwe didn't do it. There was just
a lot of stuff that happened ata very short period of time and
again after she moved out, itwas gone. So I think I had a
poltergeist. Maybe, maybe, whoknows? Maybe she was just

(30:42):
fucking with you, maybe. Butthere was one time she wasn't
there. Oh, she was out of town.
She was back home visiting herfamily, and I remember I was
sitting on my bedroom and I hadthe door open, and this was the
only time I got so scared ofwhatever was in the condo that I
left. But I was sitting on mybed studying, and I had my
bedroom door open, and I sawsomebody walk past my door, and

(31:08):
I didn't think anything of it atfirst, until I, like, called out
to my roommate, and then therewasn't a response. And then I
remembered she wasn't there, andI was home, home alone, but it
was, it was in my peripheralvision, so I'm sure that's not a
very reliable witness testimonywhatever I'm doing right now,

(31:32):
but it was a solid figure that Isaw walk past my door. Oh,
yikes, and it freaked me out sobad that I had to leave. I
called a friend and was like, let's go get drinks. I don't
want to be here anymore. So arewe talking about poltergeists?
So we're talking aboutpoltergeists and ghost lore. A
poltergeist is German forrumbling ghost or noisy spirit.

(31:57):
Okay, I didn't know that me,either it's a type of ghost or
spirit that is responsible forphysical disturbances such as
loud noises and objects beingmoved or destroyed. Most claims
or fictional descriptions ofpoltergeists show them as being
capable of pinching, biting, hitting and tripping people, but

(32:21):
our poltergeist never did any ofthat, except for my roommate did
fall in the shower one time, andshe swears that she was pushed.
Oh, wow, that she felt somethingnudge her that she wasn't she
wasn't doing anything where shewould have lost her balance on
her own. That was the only thingthat happened where somebody got
hurt. Poltergeists are alsodepicted as capable of the

(32:45):
movement or levitation ofobjects such as furniture and
cutlery knives or saw themknives getting thrown, as well
as spontaneous fires anddifferent electrical issues such
as flickering lights. Oh, mygoodness, does any of this sound
familiar? La, oh my gosh. Theyhave traditionally been

(33:08):
described as troublesome spiritswho haunt a particular person
instead of a specific location.
Some variation of poltergeistfolklore is found in many
different cultures. Early claimsof spirits that supposedly
harass or torment their victimsdate back to the first century.

(33:30):
Wow, it's pretty far back, butreferences to poltergeists
became more common in the early17th century. Now, according to
the conversation.com Here arethe eight most important things
you need to know aboutpoltergeist. Oh, okay. Number

(33:52):
one,

LA (33:53):
take notes people

Berly (33:56):
parapsychologists can't agree on what they are. We need
to know that, yeah. This isnumber one of the eight things.
Some parapsychologists viewpoltergeists as a type of ghost
or supernatural entity which areresponsible for psychological
and physical disturbance.
However, others believe thatsuch activity originates from

(34:16):
unknown energy associated with aliving person or a location.
Skeptics, on the other hand, prefer mundane explanations,
such as attention seeking pranksand trickery. You listen to you
being the skeptic over there, thinking that we were fucking
with you every time we weretalking about our poltergeist

(34:38):
number two, poltergeists tend toprefer women to men. Of course,
a person focused poltergeisttends to but not always, involve
a female adolescent who issuffering from emotional turmoil
when the act. Begins. So this iswhy I totally think that maybe

(35:01):
just because I was a supershitty roommate, that that's why
the poltergeist, it was reallybad roommate, guys that said,
however, not all so called focalagents are teenagers. William G
roll a pioneer in poltergeistresearch, found the age of

(35:22):
people reporting experiences ofpoltergeist activity ranged from
eight to 78, years of age. It'sa big range, the big ass range
number three, some of the bestpoltergeists are thought to be
fake. What a thought. In 1967 ata lawyer's office in Rosenheim,

(35:44):
Germany, strange things startedto happen in the presence of the
19 year old Secretary AnneMarie, paintings and overhead
light fittings started swingingwhile fluorescent tubes
unscrewed themselves and massivespikes in electrical activity
occurred. The speaking clock wasalso called multiple times per

(36:06):
minute, and furniture was movedthe police, utility company
officials, physicists andparapsychologist Hans binder
investigated withoutexplanation, but many believe it
was a fake, all due to hiddennylon threads, especially given
that the incidents stopped whenAnne Marie left the firm In

(36:31):
early 1968

LA (36:38):
number four, poltergeist

Berly (36:41):
like to mess with your stuff. Oh. Poltergeist activity
typically starts with minor, isolated incidents. This could
include unexplained sounds orfamiliar objects, such as your
keys being moved from theirusual place. But while
poltergeist activity istypically short lived
manifestations typically lastingaround five months. Some cases

(37:04):
have persisted for severalyears. I would say that's about
how long our poltergeist stufflasted. Was like six

LA (37:10):
months. Oh, really, yeah.
Seemed like it was longer thanthat. I

Berly (37:14):
think we just talked about it a lot, maybe, uh,
number five experts are stillundecided about the infield
poltergeist. One of the mostfamous poltergeist cases to
happen in the UK involved theHodgson hogson hod hodgeson, H

(37:35):
O, D, G, S O N, yeah. Sure. Itinvolved this family and their
newly occupied council house inEnfield, North London, between
1977 and 1979 it was the sceneof demonic voices, objects
moving without explanation, levitation and strange noises of

(37:57):
the non demonic type. I assumeevents focused on the two
teenage daughters, Margaret andJanet, several reliable
witnesses observed phenomena.
These witnesses included apolice constable, oppressed
photographer, and investigatorsfrom the Society for physical
while investigators did discoversome evidence of pranks and

(38:18):
fakery. It was believed thatmany of the poltergeists into
incidents were genuine. Oh.
Number six, some people believethat emotional stress can cause
activity. There you go. Oopsie.
This theory known asspontaneous, recurring

(38:40):
psychokinesis, suggests thatbuilt up stress unconsciously
projects outwards in the form ofmental energy, which affects the
physical environment andproduces the phenomena
attributed to poltergeists.
There's little evidence tosupport this notion. Number

(39:02):
seven, others believe they arespirits of the dead. I don't
think I need to give that anexplanation. And number eight,
skeptics put a lot of it down tomisinterpretation. Take the case
of the women haunted by aticking clock. It was actually
discovered that the noise wascreated by a tiny insect. Oh,

(39:25):
and this kind of makes me thinkof the ghost hunters. Did I ever
tell you about whenever my momand I went and did a ghost hunt
with the ghost hunters? Yes, wason a ship, right? Yes, we had so
much fun. It sounded like youhad fun. And I can't remember
their names now, Jason and Ican't remember the other one who

(39:47):
I had a crush on, but I doremember one of them was talking
about how they travel and howthat he misses a home cooked
meal, and my mom being like, well, next time you come to
Dallas, you can come and staywith us. And I'll cook you a
fresh lasagna. And I was justlike, Mom, why are you inviting
the stranger to come stay withyou? I love it. It was it was

(40:09):
fun. We had a lot of fun, allright. So to close it out, we
have a quote from Missouri. Oh,our favorite, Yeah, boy, you put
your foot on my coffee table.
I'm gonna whack you with aspoon. Cheers. Thank you for
listening to denim wrappednightmares. Follow
