Berly (00:01):
Music. Welcome to denim wrapped nightmares, Tipsy
exchange Podcast where weexplore the supernatural series,
episode by episode, over

LA (00:11):
drinks, we'll discuss the lore the gore and what we adore
about the Winchesters and theiradventures.

Berly (00:17):
I'm Burleigh and I'm a new fan of the series.

LA (00:20):
I'm LA and I'm here long for the ride. Now let's get tipsy.
Hello, LA, hello Burly. I i ambegrudgingly saying that I am
somewhat enjoying watching. Yay,

Berly (00:42):
I've won you overweight sooner than I Oh, nor not there
yet. Yeah,

LA (00:45):
no. Oh, not all the way. I'm like, I'm not in. I'm not a fan
just yet. But I have enjoyedthese. What five episodes.

Berly (00:55):
I think we're on six.
Yeah, yeah, this is number six.
I

LA (00:58):
mean, I do enjoy looking at the boys. I'm gonna get you to a
convention. We're going, Oh, myGod, I'm so excited. We'll see
about that. But no, it's been,

Berly (01:09):
I haven't been to one. I mean, I just became a fan just
recently. There was,

LA (01:12):
I forget which episode I was like, I think in my notes, I was
like, it's a meh episode.

Berly (01:18):
We both thought, Phantom travelers, yes, yeah, the one
with the planes, we were bothkind of like this one's not
really holding our attention.

LA (01:26):
So, but yeah, so I'm, I'm getting slowly, but we'll, I
can't say surely, but I'llslowly. I'm getting there. Nice.
Should I give us everybody, arecap of last week. Yeah,

Berly (01:42):
what was our last episode that we just watched? So it was
the Bloody Mary,

LA (01:46):
yes, that I covered. And we were in suburban Ohio, which
wasn't the first, the one beforethat, in Ohio, too,

Berly (01:52):
I don't remember. Oh, anyway,

LA (01:54):
they're putting some

Berly (01:55):
miles. They're all over this, yeah, like, all over
Central US. We were inCalifornia, Colorado, yeah.

LA (02:03):
So anyway, it was the three girls having a little sleepover.
Did the Bloody Mary in themirror, and then it led to her
family and her older sister'sfriends that basically ended up
being that bloody Mary was outfor revenge from these people
who had dealings with otherpeople's murders. Yeah, murders,
deaths, I should say,

Berly (02:22):
Yeah, another vengeful spirit, yes, looking to take out
their anger on anybody who theythought could potentially be
guilty or feeling guilty. And

LA (02:31):
Sam and Dean, they realized that the Bloody Mary had the
power to travel through alltheir reflective surfaces,
mirrors and whatnot, and she washunting.

Berly (02:40):
We also found out that Sam is keeping a secret. Yes,

LA (02:43):
Sam's got secrets. Secrets don't make friends. Secret
secrets

Berly (02:47):
are no fun. Secret secrets hurt someone.

LA (02:50):
It's gonna be Dean. It's gonna be you hurt Dean. Someone

Berly (02:53):
hurt him.

LA (02:54):
He's already got such a rough exterior, and he's holding
a lot on himself, you know, anyway. But yeah,

Berly (03:00):
we basically figure out Sam is kind of psychic that he's
having, like, premonitions inhis dreams.

LA (03:08):
I don't like the way I just said, yeah.

Berly (03:11):
It was fine,

LA (03:13):
yeah. So we discover that, basically, once again, the guy
saved the day. Kill Bloody Mary.
They trap her in the originalmirror that she was trapped in
her spirit, bust it at their owndetriment and leading eyes. You
remember that song, oh yeah. Andonce again, they have to say

(03:34):
goodbye to a pretty lady

Berly (03:38):
she was a high school student. It's

LA (03:39):
okay, so, yeah, it just ends up, once again, them saving the
day, breaking the mirror, andthey move on.

Berly (03:46):
They broke like five to the next, how much of the next?
How much seven years? Bad luck?
Yeah, they broke a lot. Theybroke a five year,

LA (03:52):
yeah? I mean, it's not looking good

Berly (03:56):
for them. We'll see, we'll see. We know they've got
like 15 seasons. Yeah. So that'sgonna cover all the years.
That's gonna cover all the yearsof bad luck that they've earned.
21 so for this episode, first ofall, the name of the episode was
skin. And I have to say, I wasexpecting so many good things

(04:17):
that did not really come tofruition in this episode with a
name, yeah, skin, yeah, yeah. Sowe'll talk about that a little
bit later. But the episode openswith kind of this crime scene in
progress where a chick is tiedup to a chair. You can't really
she's bloody. You can't reallysee what's going on, but you

(04:39):
figure out it's dean. And thenthey do a big reveal, where he
looks over his shoulder, and itis, in fact, Dean, well, it's
like the SWAT team coming in,yeah? And he's got this badass
wiggly knife, knife. Oh no,that's

LA (04:50):
a different one. Yeah,

Berly (04:51):
the wiggly knife, he's got this really cool knife. It
looks like it would be used inrituals or something. Yeah, it
was really cool. It's like, whatthe fuck is going on here?
Because. That's not what Dean, when just our dean. That's not
our dean. What is happening? Sothen we cut to like the
supernatural logo, and it saysone week earlier. So now we're

(05:12):
our week in advance, and Sam isgoing through his BlackBerry
with his little stylist pinthing, checking his emails from
his friends at school, yes, andDean's giving him a hard time
for keeping in touch with hisfriends from college. Because
he's like, so you're lying tothem. And Sam's like, well, he's

LA (05:29):
like, What do you tell him you're

Berly (05:30):
doing? Yeah. He's like, you know, I

LA (05:32):
just need time. After what happened to Jessica, I'm

Berly (05:34):
just out with my brother, I just need some time. He's
like, Oh, so you're lying tohim. And Sam's like, Well, I'm
not lying. I'm just not tellingthem everything. So already
we've kind of got a difference.
Of opinion here that Dean islike, well, if you're not
telling them everything, you'relying. You are lying. Yeah,
Sam's going through his emails, and he sees one from his friend
Becky, and she's talking abouthow her brother, Zach has been
arrested for murder, but thatit's not copacetic that her

(05:55):
brother was with her all night.
He could not have been twoplaces, two places at once. So
Sam is like, we should go checkthis out. Let's go to St Louis.
And at first. Dean is like, thisisn't really not our gig. Yeah,
it's 400 miles the oppositedirection. Why are we going? I'm
doing

LA (06:15):
a murder case, yeah, dealing spirits and demons and

Berly (06:18):
whatnot. But Sam is like, It's my friend. We're going so
good friends. Sam,

LA (06:23):
yes, good

Berly (06:24):
job. And I love that Dean, like, peels out of the gas
station parking lot, runs a stopsign, and the camera pans out to
show a sign that says, drivesafe America.

LA (06:36):
You had a good chuckle.

Berly (06:37):
I did. I laughed my ass off. Honestly, I thought it was
hilarious,

LA (06:41):
and I didn't notice it. I was like, what she left? You had
to rewind it for me. I

Berly (06:46):
thought it was really funny. Yeah, they arrive and
Becky explains to Sam and Deanthat her brother Zach went home
and found his girlfriend deadafter he had been hanging out
with Becky all night. She saidhe was here until at least
midnight. There's no way he didthis. So Sam is like, Hey, can

(07:07):
we go get a look at the crimescene? And then, yet again, he's
fibbing to his friend. He goes,Well, my brother's a cop,

LA (07:15):
which gene clearly was not like. He was like, oh, okay,
yeah.

Berly (07:19):
But cop clearly hadn't discussed this in advance. Give
me a heads up, bro. Dean justwent with it, though. Yeah. So
they go to the crime scene, andthey're looking around. And
while they're there, they'reasking her the usual questions,
right? Any weird smells? Did yousee anything weird? What's going
on? And she was like, Well, Imean, I can't say that I saw
anything weird, but there wassomebody who broke in, like, a

(07:43):
week in advance and only stolemy brother's clothes. It's like,
okay, that's weird. Uh, yeah, that's weird.

LA (07:52):
Also backing up. I really like that. Dean took himself
from a cop to a detective.
Detective.

Berly (07:58):
He promoted himself.

LA (07:59):
He was like, Detective, actually off duty.

Berly (08:03):
Well, then there's this dog going crazy outside, and so
Dean kind of looks at the dogand it's like, what's going on
here? And Becky says that usedto be the absolute nicest dog
ever, and now it's justconstantly on edge. It's, you
know, not being very friendlyanymore. And as

LA (08:20):
we know, dogs know shit.
Okay, they know better than us.
If your dog doesn't trustsomebody, believe them, yeah,
something's up. Be on guard whenyou're around that person.

Berly (08:32):
And then dean asks, well, do you happen to know around
when the dog started changingits behavior? And Becky goes, I
guess it was around the timethat the crime happened here,
yeah, when it was, like, theneighbor's dog, right? Yeah,
because I thought it was hisdog, and I was concerned that
they left it there to just No,because it was at the
girlfriend's house, but I thinkthey lived together or

(08:53):
something. Oh, is that? Oh,okay, I thought it was his Yes,
it seemed like the dog was inlike a neighboring side yard,

LA (08:58):
yeah, because that's so important to the story. It's
important to

Berly (09:04):
you. That's what matters.
So while they're talking it,Becky ends up confessing that
she has the security footage ofZach leaving deemed and Sam were
like, Oh, she's like, Yeah, like, I just saw it on his desk,
and I really wanted to see it.
So I She's like, I, she

LA (09:24):
literally said I stole it, yeah.

Berly (09:26):
She's like, I got it, yeah. So they're like, great. We
don't have to talk to thelawyers. We've got the security
footage now. It cuts tosomewhere else in town where we
see Zach, who supposedly is injail for murder right now, dark
and swarthy, yeah, lookingreally thick eyebrows,

LA (09:46):
dark, dark hair. He's got

Berly (09:48):
his music. He's got, like, I think he had earbuds in.
He's like, jotting in a littlepad. And he's watching this
couple saying goodbye to eachother, very eerie. And it's just
kind of like, who How is? Hehere watching them because we
saw we saw his picture in theapartment. There was a picture
of Sam Becky and Zach on thefridge, so we know what he looks

(10:09):
like. It's like he's supposed tobe in jail. How is he sitting
here watching this couple, likebeing in this creepy stalker
watching this couple, while he'swatching this creepy couple, his
eyes kind of like Blink, like alizard eye or something, and
they change color, yeah? So it'slike, okay, who? Who is this?
And it's like,

LA (10:28):
they almost look like headlight eyes. Yeah, they

Berly (10:30):
get really bright, yeah, for sure, what ends up happening
is that later we see that girltied up, just like we saw at the
very beginning of the episode, tied up, she's getting cut up,
and her boyfriend has come inand found her like this, and he
takes her gag out of her mouth, and it's like, what's wrong?
What's happening? And she goes, please, don't hurt me anymore.

(10:53):
It's like, what? Yeah. And helooks really confused, and he's
trying to figure out how tountie her. And then he hears a
noise, and so he turns around togo investigate the noise, and
oh, it's him. It's fucking him.
And

LA (11:07):
as you You called him cheekbones.

Berly (11:09):
It's Mr. Cheekbones, that's his name. So cheekbones
turns the corner, and oh,there's another cheekbones
there. And he's like, What thefuck yeah. It's a total spitting
image of him. And so the guy, like, hits him and takes off.
Yeah, so the doppelganger takesoff running. Now we know there's

(11:30):
some shady shit going on. AndDean, you were wrong. This is
100%

LA (11:35):
Hey, he comes up. And, in fact, I liked it. He was like,
hey, you know how I said, thisisn't our gig or whatever, this

Berly (11:43):
is our gig. Totally

LA (11:44):
our gig. Yes, he

Berly (11:45):
does. He admits it.
Because whenever they get to thecrime scene later, they find all
this out. Sam and Dean are atZach's house, and they're
looking around again and they'retrying to think, how could he
have left and avoided beingcaptured on camera there, it's
early in the morning. Dean keptsaying it's 530 in the morning.
It was awfully sunny for 530 inthe morning. Like,

LA (12:08):
there's a lot of references to them being up at like 5am but
the sun's out. I'm like, I Whereare you even daylight savings?
Like the sun's still not out at530

Berly (12:18):
right? Oh, so no, it wasn't the Zach sitting on the
bench. It was the security tapefootage where Sam caught Zach
looking at the camera, and hiseyes were messed up too. So they
caught that there too. So that'swhen they know, like, okay,
something shady is going on. Sonow they're back at the house.
Excuse me, I had a I had alittle bit of a brain fart
there. So now they're back atthe house going, Okay, so where

(12:39):
did he go that that was the onlytime he got caught on the
camera. It was only that onceone spot and Sam finds blood,
like on a telephone pole, right?
But there's not a trail toanywhere else, so they can't
figure out where he went. Andthat's whenever they found out
that there was another crimegoing on? Oh yeah, they see the

(13:00):
ambulance go by, right? They seean ambulance go by, and they're
like, let's follow that and findout what's going on. And that's
whenever they go to the crimewhere cheekbones and his
girlfriend were there, andcheekbones is getting arrested,
and Dean found out realcheekbones, not doppelganger,
cheat codes. Doppelganger. Heleft him to take the fall. Yeah,

(13:23):
he's gone. We don't know wherehe is. And Dean found out from
one of the spectators outsidewhat was going on that the guy
had, you know, beat hisgirlfriend and was tied her up,
and she was just like, he's thenicest guy. I don't understand
what happened. I don't getwhat's going on here. And Sam
and Dean have kind of started toput two and two together that

(13:46):
they are dealing with a shapeshifter here at this new crime
scene, they find another bloodytrail, and this one has
somewhere that they can follow, and it leads them to a manhole
that goes to the sewer. So theygo in the sewer and we get our
first skin shot, I guess we'llsay of the episode, which was

(14:07):
not the type of skin shot Iwanted, but it's basically this
liquefied, disgusting, snotty.
It's

LA (14:18):
like, it's like jelly, gross. Skin remains. Yeah, they
shed the skin, and it's jelly.
And it was

Berly (14:27):
not here every time I saw it, yeah. I was like, when I saw
skin on the episode title, thiswas not what I was expecting.

LA (14:35):
Like, it is in the first pile. It has like an ear in it
too, and I think

Berly (14:38):
he, like, stuck his like knife in it or something, and,
like, lifted it up. I was, like,so gross. Like, it,

LA (14:45):
it's everywhere. It's all over the place. It's like, How
many times did you shed thisjelly skin and clean up after
yourself? You

Berly (14:51):
slob it's all over the place, your domain. You clean
up, yeah, clean up afteryourself. Like, I understand
it's a sewer, but you'reobviously hanging out. Down here
quite a bit.

LA (15:02):
Keep your space clean. Yeah, rude.

Berly (15:04):
It's gross rude to be dirty in the sewer, your gross,
psychopathic shape tissue like, clean up after yourself. Anyway,
this confirms that they'redealing with a shape shifter.
Then the shape shifter actuallyattacks them, like back, hands,
cheekbones, they turn around andit's cheekbones with the weird
eyes, and he like, basicallybackhands Dean, and Dean kind of

(15:25):
falls into the wall, and somehowthat hurts his shoulder. I still
couldn't really figure out howthat happened. I

LA (15:31):
feel like he just like, smacked him, and he smacked into
the metal thing, and maybe itjust Yeah.

Berly (15:39):
And so cheekbones takes off running, and he, like,
bursts out of the manhole andtakes off running. And I
remember whenever he first came, you totally thought of Sam.

LA (15:49):
I said, real nice. Sam just taken up later, Dean, I'm out of
here. I was like, you had tocorrect me. And Toby, no, no,
no,

Berly (15:56):
that was cheekbones. So then Sam comes out of the
manhole, and then dean comes outof the manhole, obviously
struggling, because he hurt hisarm somehow, but then he had no
problem pointing with his leftarm as to which direction
cheekbones went. Must not hurtthat bad, right? So they split
up. Sam goes toward wherecheekbones went, and Dean, Oh,
no. Sam goes a differentdirection, and Dean goes toward

(16:19):
where cheekbones went.

LA (16:20):
I really like that. We're calling him cheekbones. That

Berly (16:23):
was his name. Neither one of them are finding cheekbones.
From what we can tell,

LA (16:29):
they both have their fancy guns hiding them and right, but
they're certain other guns areso pretty, yeah, they're like, I
was gonna say embroidered.

Berly (16:36):
They could be embroidered. Maybe they are,
like, a

LA (16:39):
carving in them, like the and, like a,

Berly (16:41):
it's really pretty a pearl, yeah, or ivory, pearl or
ivory, same thing. It was reallypretty, really pretty gun.
Anyway. So they reunite near theImpala, and Dean asked Sam for
the keys, which all radios like,Why does Sam have the keys the
same? Yeah, yeah. But Sam tossesthe keys to Dean, and Dean
catches the keys with his lefthand, and Sam remembers Dean had

(17:05):
hurt his left arm, so he'salready suspicious, so he pulls
out a gun, or No. First, he asksDean a question about an old
case for other dad, and hepurposely uses the wrong city
whenever he's describing it. Ithink that he said Austin, and
that Dean corrected him, No, SanAntonio. No. He says San
Antonio. He says San Antonio.
And then dean corrected him thatit was Austin. Oh, yeah, yeah.

(17:26):
Doesn't matter to be wrong. Whocares? It doesn't really matter.
It's like, oh, okay, I guessthat is Dean. But then Sam is
still suspecting that it's notso he pulls a gun on Dean. You
can't be too careful, right? AndDean tells him all this stuff
that only dean would know. SoSam's like, kind of confused,
and then he's, like, trying todecide if he's going to shoot

(17:50):
him or not. And Dean, like, fakeDean, well, because he's kind of
a pro bono he's

LA (17:56):
like, Yeah, shoot me if you Yeah, do it. Do it. You're

Berly (17:58):
so convinced, no, you're not going to do it, because it's
not me, and like he ends upknocking Sam out, I think he hit
him with a crowbar. Yeah, knocksout Sam. So now we know, okay,
this isn't Dean. That ain't ourdean, that's not our dean. Our
dean wouldn't do that when Samregains consciousness. Okay, I'm
not into like, BDSM or anything, but, oh, he looked really hot

(18:23):
when he was tied up, right?
Okay, good. I wasn't crazy. Iget on that, yeah, just the way
his neck had to be angled. Cutthe anyways, so Sam, he looked
real hot with that rope aroundhis neck, you could get into it.
I think it's just because hisneck was on such good display.

LA (18:42):
He's got it. Or was that a good was, like, immobile and you
could do anything at lunch. Oh,my God,

Berly (18:47):
I didn't even take it that far. LA, I think that's
what it was, that paddle, thatpaddle. Lucky. I liked it. He's
got a very good stature. Yes.
I'm like, like, I said the ropehe had, he had to look up. And
he was kind of like, art, yeah, pushing his chest out. He's
like, Oh, I'm trying to getfree. What are we doing?

LA (19:07):
Oh, my God.

Berly (19:13):
Anyways, so Dean, fake Dean, is all like, yeah, I have
his memories. And he does thisweird thing with his face, and
we can hear like these voicesand everything. He's like, he's
like, downloading stuff,basically, memories. Yeah,
learning, yeah. He's like, as Ibecome more like Dean. And he
claims that Dean is like, angryat Sam for having left him to go

(19:36):
to college and havingopportunities Dean never had,
which isn't necessarily untrue.
But it's not like Dean hates Samor anything. So I feel like the
shapeshifter was trying to,like, put a wedge between them,
kind of that stuff, theshapeshifter leaves and
basically is like, Oh, well, youknow what Dean would do? He
would totally fuck your friendif he had the chance. So I'm

(19:57):
gonna go back. Back to Becky'splace and see what's up. Bye,
say something

LA (20:04):
he would have boned her already. Yeah, yeah,

Berly (20:07):
the shapeshifter goes to Becky's and flirts with her, and
she lets him in because shethinks it's Dean. They're having
a couple of drinks and talkingin front of a fireplace. Can

LA (20:18):
we just mention how she got so up in arms about how she
called her lawyers and told themthey went to the crime scene. I
forgot about that. Yeah, no,this bothered me, so she's gets
on the phone with Sam at onepoint, she's like, I call my
lawyers and told them we went tothe crime scene, dumbass. That's
illegal first of all, so you'reincriminating yourself in that.

(20:42):
And then she tells them aboutwhat Dean Winchester is, a
detective and whatever. Yeah, she's like, and they said
there's no record of him, soshe's all pissed off at him or
whatever. But I'm like, you dumbbitch, you're implicating
yourself in that crime, becausethat is a crime. She

Berly (20:59):
had no problem stealing evidence, right? But someone
wants to be mad at them

LA (21:05):
crime evidence from her lawyer. Didn't tell them that,
but told the boys that shestraight up stole it off the
lawyer's desk, but then wantedto call and let them know that
she broke, like, basicallybreaking entering a crime scene,
like, you can't fucking do that.
So, dumb, dumb, and Dean

Berly (21:20):
did say, I don't have jurisdiction here, so, yeah,

LA (21:24):
so that's on her, but that's just irritating me. Like, why
would you tell your lawyer that?
Right,

Berly (21:29):
she's been all, like, really jeopardized my brother's
case. And

LA (21:33):
what I mean, I don't know how all that works, but it's
like, if, like, are they legallyobligated to, like, tell the
cops? Like, Hey, she did this, you know, no, no, I don't, I
guess, because she has themhired anyway. I just thought
that was done. Maybe

Berly (21:47):
she just thought it was important and that they should
know. For some reason, I

LA (21:51):
don't know. I don't know why. I don't get it, I don't
understand it, and I don't likeit. So there's that.

Berly (21:58):
So back to Becky. So fake Dean and Becky are sitting on
the couch talking, and he makesa move, and she's like, No.
First of all, that

LA (22:07):
move was a little weird, like he touched her face, but
then it's like, he like, movedto, like, her hair.

Berly (22:13):
It's like he said something, but we didn't get to
hear what he said. Yeah, so I'massuming he said something
completely out of line andoffensive to her, and we just
didn't get to hear what thatwas. I would like to have known
what was it, but it'sshapeshifter. Dean, it's not
real. Dean. It was creepy.
Creepy Dean. So he attacks herfor rejecting Him, and ties her

(22:37):
up and gags her, and he putlike, a headband on her, for
some reason. Well, it's

LA (22:44):
like the girl didn't get it, like the other girls, he beat
her up, yeah, beats her up, cutsher all maintained, like she's
bleeding for places, but helike, put something on her head.
What

Berly (22:53):
was that headband about?
She

LA (22:54):
had, like, a bandage on her arm. So it's like, you beat the
shit out of these girls, butthen you want to help. Like,
what's that bleed? What's

Berly (23:00):
happening? Because, yeah, it wasn't, it wasn't part of her
gag or part of being tied, literally, like a couldn't quite
figure out what was going onthere, yeah? And so then the
SWAT team, like, bursts in andfake Dean escapes and on foot,
yeah? Well, he

LA (23:18):
throws this fancy knife and throws

Berly (23:19):
the knife, and then he kicks and all this, and he's out
the door, out of the window, andhe's on foot, running, and
they're like, trying to shoothim up, but they're missing, and
he's he's long gone. That

LA (23:30):
was a great play by play between bullets, anyway.

Berly (23:36):
So Becky's alive. She didn't get killed, right? She
just got the shit beat out ofher. So back in the sewer, Sam
is like what we talked aboutearlier. He's struggling, trying
to get free, and then we hearDean start talking. It's like,
what the hell? And he's coveredwith this tarp, okay, shakes it
off, and the shape shifter hasbeen running around dressed in

(23:57):
Dean's clothing, right? So I wasexpecting under that tarp. We
were gonna get a naked Dean, right? No, apparently the shape
shifter just found his jacket, the clone of the clothes, yeah,
and he just had Dean's jacket.
Dean had on his T shirt stufffirst. So that was
disappointing. Sam and Dean, they get loose of their binds or

(24:17):
what have you, and they end upgoing back above ground because
this was in the sewer. Still, they were in the shape shifters,
gross, dirty domain. And theysee on TV that the police are
talking about this dangerous manand that we need to catch him.
And it's a sketch, basically, ofDean, because they think it's

(24:40):
the shape shifter. And the SWATteam got a really good look at
Dean, which I'm kind of curious.
Who called the SWAT team? Whydid they show up at Becky's
place?

LA (24:52):
Was it Sam?

Berly (24:53):
No, Sam was tied up in the sewer. Yeah, good point. So
I'm curious about that. Maybethey were like watching. Her for
some reason, thought her brotherwas gonna try to kill her. I
don't know, yeah, but anyway, that did kind of, I was kind of
like, Huh? What's that about?
Then they kind of figure out, well, it said the dude escaped
on foot, so that means theImpala is probably still at

(25:13):
Becky's. Let's go get the carand get some weapons. So they go
to Becky's, and the cops arewatching Becky's house, so they
spot them. So Dean runs one way,and Sam kind of distracts the
police and basically lets themarrest him, because he's like,
they can't hold me, like Ididn't do anything. I'll just
act like I don't know anything,like they can't hold me. It's

(25:35):
fine, yeah. So then we see Deangoing back to the sewer by
himself, even though Samspecifically asked him not to,
and he ends up finding Beckythere. And Sam had said, meet me
at Becky's, like, run away. I'llget I'll deal with the police.
I'll meet you later. We'll meetup at Becky's. So now Becky's

(25:57):
there, and it cuts to Sam atBecky's talking to Becky, well,
she can't be two places at once, right? So the shape shifter
kidnapped Becky and is nowpretending to be Becky. So Sam
is with the shape shifter Deanis saving real Becky down in the
sewer. Becky, fake Becky,Shapeshifter Becky kicks Sam's

(26:18):
ass,

LA (26:22):
right? But can we go back to the sewer? Where

Berly (26:25):
we can go back to the sewer?

LA (26:26):
Dean? What happened with Dean before we found out about
Becky? What how he rippedhimself up

Berly (26:32):
after the shapeshifter escapes, it shows him go down to
the sewer, and Dean finallytakes his fucking shirt off.
It's fake Dean, granted, but asa dean nonetheless, and it
immediately gets ruined, yeah?
Because he starts shape shiftinginto Becky,

LA (26:46):
like you see, somewhat of his chest, but then fingernails
are falling off, teeth poppingout, yeah,

Berly (26:53):
it's immediately ruined with the shape shifting. He
pulls his ear off, skin off. Imean, it was a great scene,
don't you? Literally, like, started taking his skin off,
like it was a shirt. Yeah, itwas an awesome shape shifting
scene. But I'm just sayingthat's not what I wanted for my
first topless Dean Winchesterscene. I needed to see more
before it all went away. Ireally hope this series makes it

(27:16):
up to me. I'm upset. Uh, yeah.
So, yeah, we did. We did get thescene of the shape shifter
transforming from Dean intoBecky. So Becky kicks, kicks
Sam's ass. And then the shapeshifter transforms back into
Dean, and somehow doesn't haveto go through the disgusting
transition, weird. And then theclothes changed magically,

(27:37):
somehow, too. So that was kindof like, I mean, why isn't Dean
in the girls clothes, right?
Fake Dean, not real Dean. Yeah, this is getting confusing very
quickly. I'm sorry, real Deanshows up and shoots the creature
who looks like him at this pointin the chest with silver bullets

(27:59):
that they said at the verybeginning shape shifter, whether
it's a werewolf or a regularshape shifter, it doesn't
matter. Silver Bullets in theheart will kill it. Yeah. So
they knew what they needed to doto kill it. And so he takes the
shape shifter out, and then thepolice decide to release Zack,
because now Dean Winchester istheir number one suspect because

(28:19):
of what happened with Becky. AndI guess Becky's just gonna keep
her mouth shut, like her andDean or not, her and Dean, her
and Sam hug each other. She letsthem know that they miss her,
and Sam does his stroll to thecar, which was nice. Well, Dean
says something about missing hisown funeral, so I guess they're

(28:41):
gonna fake Dean's death orsomething. No, no. I

LA (28:44):
think what he was saying because, like, he shot his his
doppelganger or whatever. Oh,

Berly (28:50):
that's right before the shape. So the shapeshifter still
looked like him when they left, right? So they're very like, so
they think Dean winchester'sDean, yeah, okay, okay, I didn't
catch that already. That's whathe meant, and that's basically
the end of the episode. Yeah. Idid want to touch on something
when Sam and Dean becameconscious, and they were both in
the sewers, and Sam wasexplaining to Dean about how the

(29:12):
shape shifter was actually kindof becoming Dean memories and
everything. Dean did say, like aVulcan mind meld. Oh yeah. Which
I haven't watched Star Trek in avery long time, so I had to
Google what that was. Do youknow what the Vulcans are in
Star Trek? You've seen the StarTrek movies. I know you've seen
the Star Trek movies. So theZachary Quinto character, Spock,

(29:37):
yeah. Oh yeah. So Spock is aVulcan. And you know how they do
the Vulcan nerve pinch, wherethey pinch the shoulder and you
just, you just fall. So theVulcan mind melds. They, like
put their hands on you, andbasically they can merge their
mind with the essence ofanother's mind, purely by using
specialized contact viafingertip points. On a humanoid.

(30:01):
It does specify on a humanoid, usually around the targeted
partners, skull temples. So,yeah, interesting. So Little
Star Trek reference, yeah,

LA (30:12):
with the mind mode. When he said that, I was like, What the
hell is that? Yeah,

Berly (30:16):
I thought that too. I was like, Vulcan might. What is
that? And so I googled it realquick. Ah, so that's the
exploration of this episode. Wedidn't talk too much about
things We adored, because thethings we adored were quickly
ruined by other things, whichwasn't fun, and the gore, the
skin, the gross skin stuff, thatwas the worst. It was pretty bad

(30:38):
gore. I could normally deal witha bride, but that was pretty
gross. What I did every time Isaw Yeah, it wasn't that fun. So
let's dig into the lore. So LA,what you going to tell me about
the lore? Well,

LA (30:51):
the notion of shapes Shake, shake, shake. Literally, the
notion of shape shifting hasbeen around for nearly as long
as human beings have beenaround. And the POS it's the
possibility that a person cantake the shape of another being,
most often an animal, whichthat's why I

Berly (31:10):
was thinking like where they mentioned, where the lore
and everything of

LA (31:13):
it is more animals than like, shifting into people, but
it can be traced back to 1000sof years, permeating various
cultures and religions, and itcalls it at trans more
morgification. Trans morguemorgification, sure, and it's
been widely valued in variousreligious mythologies, and

(31:35):
there's some evidence that it'shad influence in pseudo
historical records. It sayspseudo historical and then in
parentheses, possible historicalrecords. Ooh, like thank you for
covering that. So humans andNeanderthals lived in Europe for
2000 years, and shape shiftingappears very often in their

(31:58):
fairy tales and myths andentails from Greek mythology is
where it's kind of all stemsfrom,

Berly (32:05):
right? Because didn't, didn't Loki change it to Okay,
okay, whoa.

LA (32:12):
So Zeus, uh, first and foremost, he transformed into a
lot of different creatures. Hewas a swan, a bull and an ant,
which I thought was interesting, weird, but they be little, but
they be mighty. And then, withthe Egyptians, their gods were
depicted with heads of animals, with the bird head being chorus
and the dog head being Anubis, the Norseman, with the

(32:36):
mischievous God Loki changinginto a giant, a woman and
various different animals.

Berly (32:42):
Didn't he get pregnant whenever he was shape shifted
once

LA (32:45):
did he into the I got, I know in his show there's the
Lady, lady Loki, so I don't knowhe

Berly (32:53):
like shifted it. He shifted into a horse and got
pregnant. What? Oh, wait, hangon, yes, sleep. Near. Slept near
was the eight legged horse bornof Loki and belonged to Odin. I
was

LA (33:06):
gonna say I know Odin, like in some of the depictions, the
horse has a bunch of legs, moreso than Loki

Berly (33:12):
gave birth to. Slept near after turning himself into a
female horse when his fatherdemanded he sabotage the work of
a craftsman from being able tocomplete the fortification of
Asgard in one season. So, yeah.
So Loki turned himself into ahorse, got pregnant and then
gave birth to a horse, eightlegged

LA (33:30):
horse. The eight legged his daddy, yeah, okay. I know I
remember that eight leggedhorse. It was in one of the
movies too.

Berly (33:38):
I don't remember that, yeah, I think it was. I just
remember hearing Loki, like, gotpregnant. I think it was the
first, when he was an

LA (33:44):
horror movie that he was, he had a, like a horse when he
showed up on, um, what's theother place where the the Giants
were, like the ice giants, yeah,

Berly (33:55):
jodenheim. Is that right?
Is

LA (33:57):
that right? I think you're right. I don't know.

Berly (33:59):
I don't know. I

LA (34:00):
think you're right. Anyway, back to Okay, so yeah, Loki, but
it's considered that likely thatthe earliest depictions of shape
shifting capabilities came fromthe cave of the Troy Perez. I'm
probably not saying that right, because it's in French. It's in
this is a cave located insouthern France, you uncultured

(34:20):
bitch. I know it. I'm sorry. Iwish I knew how to speak French.
The purposes behind the imagesdiscovered there are constantly
up for debate and are unlikelyto be definitively decrypted in
the near future. Many scholarsbelieve that some of these
drawings indicate a prehistoricbelief in the ritual of
transformation, this theme ofthe shape shift, Shape Shifter,

(34:43):
possessing other extraordinarypowers, is common as well in all
the tales of the shifters andthe ability of the altar, the
ability to alter the physicalform tends to be indicative of
the highest degree of knowledgethese particularly involved
evolved. Individuals can take onthe role of some sort of shaman
in various cultures, huh? So yougotta be smart. I'm smart to

(35:06):
shape shift,

Berly (35:07):
yeah? Well, I mean, think about it, if you absorb the
memories and the knowledge andthe intellect, basically of
other beings as you shift, yeah,I would think that'd make you
pretty fucking smart, right?

LA (35:21):
So shamans, most of the time, are revered for their
wisdom, healing capabilities andpowers of premonition, all
possible because of their dualform abilities, like you just
said, even though the actual jobdescription of shamans varies
depending on the cultures, theyare considered always valuable
and in many cases, in manycases, irreplaceable members of

(35:43):
their society. They're, I feellike a lot of times they're,
they're almost like a doctor ofthe village, yeah, more so than,
like, not just medicinal, butlike, spiritual, yeah,
spiritual, mental, yeah. Theygot it all covered, yeah. I like
it. I want a shaman. They'reknown to take on transformative

(36:03):
forms in ritual for manyreasons, but it appears that
they believe that they can altertheir state of consciousness and
interact with the supernaturalworld. It's believed that
without the gift oftransformation, often brought on
by the use of certain drugs ormental physical rituals, these
shamans would not be able toachieve the necessary level of

(36:25):
enlightenment to transform, huh?
Tales of shape shifting could goon forever. I mean, we also have
the countless tales of mythologylike the Greeks. But then, as
well as like the the main onethat I think in modern culture
is the werewolf. This saysthere's something about a shape
shifter, a person who cantransform into any animal that

(36:45):
captures our imagination, whichleads to wanting us to howl at
the moon or flit through thenight like a bat. Werewolves,
vampires, demons and other weirdcreatures appeal to our animal
nature in our dark side, ourdesire to shape shifts, to be
shape shifters, lurk deep in ourpsyches and remain formidable

(37:08):
cultural icons.

Berly (37:11):
That's crazy that goes that far back that cavemen were
drawing pictures of people.

LA (37:17):
When you think about shifting, what is the half
horse, half man. What are those?
Those are like, far back too. Ithink that's Greek as well,
right? Is

Berly (37:26):
that? Hang on,

LA (37:28):
not manator, centaur,

Berly (37:30):
centaur, yeah, centaurs, yeah.

LA (37:35):
Is that Greek? I want to say it's Greek, yeah. Okay, yeah. I
thought Yeah. In early culturesworldwide, seemingly allowed
shaman, sorcerers, witches andwizards, to transform into these
animals and then back again intothemselves. But today, there are
millions of people who believethat shape shifters walk among
us and may even be worldleaders, which we want

Berly (38:00):
to know what we're talking about, we did an episode
over on the tipsy exchange aboutlizard people, where we learned
all about that.

LA (38:09):
But so it basically just says, featuring a fantastic and
ghoulish array of examples fromour history, literature, film
and TV and computer games now, shape shifters explore our
secret desire to becomesomething other than human,
nice. So something in our deepin our psyche, that we want to
be something else.

Berly (38:28):
Well, it's like in our dreams when we fly and, yeah,
you know, oh,

LA (38:32):
my uncle, one of my uncles, is convinced. He's like, if I
come back, I want to be a bird.
He's like, I have these dreamsall the time where I'm flying,
and it just feels amazing likehe's really into that. And he
tells me about it all the time.
He's like, I'm gonna come back.
I want to come back as bird.
Well, maybe

Berly (38:47):
you were a bird right past life. Who knows? Yeah.
Well, to close it out, got aquote from Dane, oh yeah. Dane
Winchester, he said, wheneverthey were pursuing the shape
shifter, yeah, Dean said to Sam,all right, but first I want to
find that handsome devil andkick the holy crap out of him.

LA (39:10):
I love that. Cheers. That's right, he is a handsome devil.

Berly (39:14):
Thank you for listening to denim wrapped nightmares.

LA (39:18):

Berly (39:24):
This was fun,

jerks. It always is, bitch.
