Now you look
like the bourgeoisie, like the

talent.

sit back in my plaid.
Please, please, contribute tomy generational wealth, my
children are going to live soeasy.
Jasmine Bhullar (05:42):
Listen, Desi
People don't have generational
wealth.
We have generational mentalhealth problems.
Omar Najam (05:52):
We inherit and pass
on explaining generational
trauma to my mom uh has been ohmy gosh.
Sandeep Parikh (06:00):
And speaking of
talking to my mom, speaking of
talking to my mom.
Omar Najam (06:04):
If you like our
banter, check out the ABCD
podcast that Sandeep, and I hoston EffinFunny, which on two
occasions has hosted, uh, mymother, uh, who is actually
retiring today from her job atthe day of recording.
So congratulations to her.
I'm very, very proud of her.
Interesting, we chat about allthings, uh, being american-born,
chatty, creative and conclusive.
Desis on it stuff like the newsthat we're confused about
(06:27):
cultural identity stuff thatwe're working through.
We always play a ridiculousgame and then we pick a Desi of
the week.
Season 2 of ABCD starts onMarch 10th that's right, 10th.
You can find over 30 episodesof the show on the EffinFunny
YouTube and wherever podcastscan be found, folks.
Sandeep Parikh (06:44):
Yes.
But that show is on pause.
To get this show, uh, uh, toits completion.
Um, we're gonna be back inaction right on March 10th, but
without further ado.
The tea kettle is a callin, sowe're gonna spill some chai
about the finale episode 108,and then we got some.
We also got some viewerquestions, um, for, for, for
(07:04):
michael and bronze.
as well, which I've collected,I can't wait, and we'll be
hitting those up as well, butobviously this was a huge, huge
episode.
I mean, let's just start withhow we're feeling about this
finale, about the show coming toa close.
We'll start with you, Jasmine.
(07:25):
Just take us through where, where, where you're at after
watching this, uh, the, uh, theshow come to, or the season, the
season, this first season cometo an end it's weird.
Jasmine Bhullar (07:35):
I I think this
is the first time, uh, for me,
that I've been involved in aproduction like on this level,
like from the pitching processall the way to like a delivery
and and you know, um it's.
It's weird because when Istarted I definitely didn't
(07:56):
think that I was gonna occupythese types of roles.
I was kind of just like awriter that wanted to like tell
stories and and wanted aplatform to do it.
And now it's like I like you, like even here, even hearing you
, and even on set, whenSchaubach told me like oh,
you're a showrunner, I was likewhat?
(08:17):
I'm a dork.
Hell, yeah, um, you know, like, how is this gonna?
work mutually exclusive but itwas like uh, it was like a very
thanos moment, like you knowfine, I'll do it myself, type of
thing, you know like I wantedto see this show made and I I
(08:37):
self I started out selfishlywanting to do it for me.
Right, like if even if you goback and look at all of the our
initial kickstarter pitches,it's all like I want to play at
a table of other desi people.
I got to play with anjali(bhimani) one time and we both
talked about how.
And I got to play with janina(Gavankar) one time and we just
always talked about how.
That was a unique experienceand I want to do that more and I
(09:00):
want it was always I and Ithink, like, seeing the finale,
I was like it wasn't just aboutme, you know, and that's weird
to sort of come to terms withlike oh, this was like, this is
a big project.
It first hit me on set when Isaw how many people we had in
that building.
(09:23):
And then, when I saw thefinalized version of our intro,
our sort of intro video, which Ithink is the coolest I've ever
seen on any TTRPG show gettingto see those people as the
credits roll and as you'recoming into a show and being
like all of these people cametogether in this room to make
(09:44):
this thing because I selfishlywanted to play at a table with a
bunch of Indian people andthat's like now changed people's
lives in a lot of ways, causeseeing people's reaction to it
and I think that's why I had anemotional breakdown at the end
of it Cause I was like God, thisis so weird, you know, like a
stray idea, you know, cutthrough my brain like a soft
(10:05):
cheese and now it's becomesomething that you can watch and
enjoy and connect with.
It's crazy.
I don't know if it's a poeticanswer, but it's just.
It's weird.
No, it's a great answer.
Being at the end of it is weird.
Sandeep Parikh (10:18):
I love that it
just all starts with I want to
play.
Jasmine Bhullar (10:21):
Like it just
starts with this simple.
Sandeep Parikh (10:24):
And it turns out
you know, because I got this
little kiddo and I think aboutit a lot like he just wants to
play, and then if someone wantsto play enough and has a vision
about what they want to play, then a bunch of people are like,
fuck, that sounds cool, I wantto play.
I want to play with you, thatsounds fun and I think that's it
feels like that was the energythat, like pretty much everybody
(10:46):
who came on board, that's wherethey, that's where it came from
.
Um, it wasn't, you know, uh,you know it wasn't for
themselves or it wasn't for, itwasn't for the money, that's for
sure.
Because we were, you knoweverybody's coming on because
they were just like.
They just were like hands up,like I want to get in on this
game.
