Intro to a Driveline Plyo Ball⢠Routine A Driveline plyo ball routine consists of throwing plyo balls prior to any work with a baseball. From research in our lab, we know that heavier balls . Plyometric training has been shown to be an effective way to increase the strength and performance of the shoulder (4, 6). The Ballistic Six program includes 6 upper extremity plyometric exercises per-formed with quick, powerful movements requiring a prestretch of the involved shoulder musculature, thereby activating the stretch-shortening cycle. We have scaled out the overload/underload philosophy in our PlyoCare Program, which uses balls from ounces to pounds. The use of PlyoCare balls helps to âteach mechanicsâ without using functionally worthless verbal cues. we have included an in-season throwing routine as well. This is not a 4-week quick fix or a hyper-aggressive velo program where youâll be run-and-gunning everything from 2 ounce to 2-pound balls on day 1, although I can point you to a few programs out there if thatâs your thing. Start with a 9-ounce weighted ball (if accessible), throw the ball % effort out to feet with a specific external or internal focus (i.e. hit partner in the chest or feel glove side disconnect from throwing arm). Equipment: Plyometric box Starting Position: Facing the plyometric box with hands clasped behind head, get into a comfortable, upright stance with feet shoulder-width apart.
