Speaker 3 (00:47):
I'm here baby hell yeah, another lovely episode of
dial the wild podcast.
We are sitting in the ritz inmacomb, illinois, with our good
friend caleb kieran, and I gotseth here with me and we got
sean over here hanging out andwe've got CC the owners and
operators of D6 Wrestling herein Macomb.

(01:07):
What's up, guys?
Howdy, howdy, awesome Dude.
I've been excited about this.
I haven't gotten back intosemi-pro wrestling or pro
wrestling or whatever it'sconsidered.
I haven't gotten back into itin years.
And then in the last couple ofyears I've spent a lot of time
in the quad cities with somefriends.
You go into music and stufflike that, like, hey, let's go

(01:28):
over to scw to see what's goingon and we had a blast.
So, just going to local events, you realize it's not exactly
what you're watching on tv andyou interact and you have a good
time and, uh, just superexcited to to see what you guys
got going on and to hear yourstory the indie scene is pretty
different because you do get tomeet the wrestlers, take

(01:50):
pictures with them right becomeyour.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Wow, I've got someone to go see.
You know when that music playswho's coming out?
The right so it's a little biteasier and funner, and it's fun
for the kids too.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
So sure, yeah.
So where does this all begin?
Where do you, where do you guyshail from?

Speaker 1 (02:06):
California.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
California, okay, so how did a family?
Are you a wrestling family?
Should I ask that?

Speaker 1 (02:13):
The company was my son's.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Okay, he passed away.
Okay, sorry to hear that.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Before he could start it.
Gotcha, we got the ring, let'sdo this.
And he passed away.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
So mom decided.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
Mom decided let's do this, let's do this.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
So, with his younger brother and myself, we took it
on, and it's been a hell of aride for six years.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Sure, and you started it out in California, or you
came out here and got it going.
No, we started in California.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Okay, A few months after he passed away.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
And we've been going strong and we just kind of
wanted a change of scenery.
Sure Found Macomb Illinois.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
How does?

Speaker 1 (02:50):
that happen the windows of where we, the church
windows, sure, because nobodyknows we do wrestling in a
church.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
So, but the windows.
I fell in love with the windows.
It needed the ceiling becausewe do things 16 feet up in the
air on certain matches so yeahabsolutely perfect.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
That's awesome.
So was wrestling something thatwas in your guys's past when
you were back in california?
I mean, was it something thatyou guys dabbled in when you
were younger, when?

Speaker 1 (03:17):
I was younger, our friend invited me to a his
boxing match okay I couldn'ttell you anything about the
boxing match because Hulk Hoganand Iron Sheik was the pre pre,
before it, I was hooked.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Then, of course, having four sons, I got them
hooked.
One of my sons became awrestler.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
So that's it's me all my fault.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
There you go, but coming to Macomb, illinois, and
you just happen to stumble uponin a what we call it an
abandoned church.
But I, realistically, it wasn'treally abandoned, it just it's
been on the market for eightyears.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Yeah, it'd been on the market for a long time
anymore no, no, you guys howmany shows have you guys had
there now?

Speaker 1 (03:58):
we've had 21 shows.
This is the 22nd show.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
That's awesome.
Is it like a quarterly thing,or?

Speaker 1 (04:08):
the first we were doing it monthly and we decided
now to do every other month andwe're hoping to get back in to
monthly so that you know.
But right now, financially,it's you know, we need our fan
base yeah, absolutely we reallyneed.
We break even and I tell peopleyou don't become rich off this.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
No.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
You do it for the love of wrestling, but I like my
same fans coming back.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Yeah, yeah, you're reoccurring crowd.
I mean Caleb over here as a barguy will tell you straight up
you're reoccurring customer base.
We have about probably 30regulars know, seth and I
dabbled in pest control forseveral years and, yeah, it was
nice to get the big jobs thatwould pay you a good chunk of
money from time to time.
But the folks that that pay thebills are the ones that are your

(04:53):
monthly, bi-monthly, quarterlycustomers your locals those are
the ones you got to take care of, and but you were saying that
that you like going to otherother wrestling.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
I do go to other shows and other events in the
area.
It's just a little interestingwhen I go.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Right.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Especially if you're wearing the destination six logo
.
The wrestlers actually kind ofoh you know and then start
talking.
And when can you cut?
You know, and we're booked fora year in advance.
We're actually booked to 2025.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Oh, wow.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Yeah.
So I fans we're actually bookedto 2025 oh wow, yeah, so I'm
just folks trying to get on thecard, is that?
So when I meet somebody at ourshow, they can I get on?

Speaker 3 (05:31):
well, we're booked till 2025, but reach out to us I
mean, you know, things happen, people have emergencies or drop
out or something you know well,I always tell people, if you're
in the area, always, alwayscarry your gear, always have it
be ready.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
You come to a show.
There might be somebody thatdoesn't show up.
I need an extra.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Boom there you are Now do you keep people like on a
backlog of some sorts just incase, or is it like a oh crap,
someone's not here.
We got to figure something out.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Well, we do that, that's a.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
I don't want to dabble too much.
If you ever see me having anervous breakdown.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
I know that's because that happened okay, um somebody
never break kayfabes somebodyalways rides with somebody yeah
so there's always an extra ortwo, and if not, you just change
up the match all of a sudden.
This is why card subject tochange, because it always
happens.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Right, it's wrestling .
It happens, it's wrestling.
Well, that's life life happensyou know, you plan something.
Something could get jacked upat any moment in time yeah but.
But it seems like you've had afairly receptive welcome to the
area.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
I'm very thankful for for everything that that macomb
has given me, because we reallywere told when we got here
football town it's not going tomake it well, two years later,
I'm still here and the shows arestill going on exactly so I
would think that a football townwould be more accepting of a
wrestling scene I think they'dlove it well, hopefully now that
jerry'll be there, because youknow I heard a lot of people

(07:00):
wanted, you know, a bar.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
Yeah, so yeah, I'll i'll'll, I'll tell you.
I'll tell you from personalexperience.
I have never been to awrestling event where I didn't
feel, I didn't leave feelingpretty good.
So, but yeah, I mean, it's it.
You had to get yourselfestablished somehow, and you
know, if that means okay, we'regoing to do this without alcohol

(07:23):
for so long, then that's we'lldo, which you know, it's more of
a family friendly atmosphere.
Anyways, it's just a matter ofyou know, how do you glide into
that?
How do you glide into, you know, serving alcohol and and and
doing the adult thing whilestill catering to your family
friendly atmosphere?

Speaker 1 (07:41):
and that's when you found caleb kieran exactly, and
we still put the kids over hereand we've made the bar farther
away from the kids, so it'll beseparated and Yep, it'll be a
good time.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
So what?
What are the big stories youknow leading up into this?
I know you can get on, um, andwe'll get you to shout out your
socials here soon, but like, what's the big buzz going into
this event?

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Well, the buzz is that it's the X match, so the X
goes 16 feet up into the air.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
And certain matches the belts will go up and they
have to climb up and over theropes to get to the belt.
So whoever gets the belt that'sthe champion, new champion, old
champion, same champion.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
Kind of like a money in the bank thing going on.
I like it.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Hopefully I won't be too busy to pay attention to it
at that point yeah, you're gonnahave to hire a bartender that
night you're gonna be hooked, hook line and sinker like wait,
wait, wait, I'll get you drinkin a second.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
So, yeah, the, the heavyweight, the ultra gen six,
the tag team and the midwestexpress, they will all be up
into the x.
The women will not.
Yeah, so, and I don't.
We're kind of debating on theultragen, whether it will or not
well speaking.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Speaking of the women , I saw you had kaya mckenna on
a card yes which going to scw.
I've gotten to see her a coupletimes and she's fantastic, so
you guys are very lucky to haveher we're, we're trying to boost
our, you know, because we'renew back here.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
We have to make our.
We're here, we're, we'reserious about wrestling.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
Come to a show with us now and and you're always
going to have the folks thatthat belittle it and and say
what they're going to say aboutit, and that's fine, and my
response has always beenwrestling might be scripted, but
don't ever think in any way, shape and form that it's fake
yeah, it's difficult to do Ihave.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
I always have emt on stuff.
Yep, because you know whenthey're jumping off the balcony.
Yep, but I mean, it's nothingat all is descriptive gotcha not
practicing.
I might have joe fromcalifornia and joe from the east
coast.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
They've never met gotcha get into the ring and do
what they do gotcha so we don'treally do too much scripting no,
and I guess I said I kind ofput the cart in front of the
horse on that.
You see a lot of it.
That is you want.
What you watch on tv isscripted, you know.
But don't think for a secondthat those people aren't
athletes and they're not puttingtheir body through the

(10:11):
rigmarole especially with the.
You know the dark side of therings that have came out on on
the hulus and and some of therealistic parts of what people
have put themselves through, butseems like there's a new safety
standard, there's a newawareness in this day and age
that some people pay attentionto or don't pay attention to,
depending on who's performing.

(10:32):
But you know, it's becomingmore of a family staple again, I
think.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
I think it's you kind of just go into it praying.
You know, especially I do atalk before the shows Anyone
going over the balcony.
I need to know this before ithappens, because when you're
down below and all of a suddenyou hear someone going oh, shh,
and then you see the feet.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
And you just pray that that person gets up.
Right.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Because from the balcony that's a nice little
drop.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
Well, and they're trained and they know how to
make those jumps.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
It's a nice little drop.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
How to do those things without hurting
themselves terribly, so I gotta.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
I got a question.
Where did you?
Get the name destination six myson actually came up with it.
Okay, so it's a six-sided finalone we had them ring custom
made so it can go down into afour, but we like to keep it
into the six because it's notevery day you see one, so yeah,
absolutely we had a custom made,so it was his destination to do
this.
And the six was the six sidedring.
So yeah, just different.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
And so when he got into wrestling, was it a circuit
or something that he followedover there, or was it he just
wanted to get into theproduction side of it?

Speaker 1 (11:46):
He wrestled for 19 years gotcha he went to school
for it.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
There's a few schools in california actually some
back here too yeah getting a lotof their students, but uh
you're talking about like blackand brave and some of them seth
rollins school.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
Yeah, so we're, we're he's out with quad cities, so
we're getting a lot of them, which is really helpful and uh,
but he went to school for it andhe, you know, he loved being mr
impact, you know.
So I always kind of I'm tryingto do the company the same way.
He had a company prior, so thiswas a big one because it was
six-sided, and so we're tryingto run it the same way.

(12:20):
He did give everyone a shot.
If you want to put on somepants, let's go, caleb.
Yeah we give everyone a shot.
You know we we're not going tosay, oh, you've only been doing
what's he doing on the balcony?

Speaker 3 (12:32):
wait, wait he's getting ready to throw somebody
off the balcony.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
It's a day that ends in a why?

Speaker 3 (12:41):
no, that's cool that you were able to take his vision
and run with it and uh he foundan area that's.
That's uh really digging it.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
So I'm thankful, I'm very thankful.
Like this show, we're gonnahave free uh backpacks for the
kids.
No, kidding so it's a giveaway.
We've always done it, so we tryto give back to the community.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
That's the best we can sure, and uh, you said you
got more events coming up thatyou're excited about too.
If you can divulge how much youwant to or how little we have.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
It's always hell in the cell, which is a cage match
okay so we have that one, ournext one that'll be coming up,
that we haven't done, sincecalifornia is a casket mat nice
so, and this one, the x, wehaven't done it here in macomb
either, so it's it's kind ofexciting, yeah, yeah we're
debuting the x and making sureit all fit in there right.

(13:29):
And we double check on our ring.
A lot of you know we don't justoh, and then don't check it
every show.
We bring down the ring.
Make sure everything's stable.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
Do it all over again gotcha yeah attention to detail
caleb was is wrestling aninterest of yours or is this
like, since you just startedgoing, it's starting to permeate
?

Speaker 2 (13:49):
So my buddies invited me to a WWE match up north.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
And I went and I had so much fun.
It was a ridiculous amount offun.
It was a Survivor Series, Ithink, and it was Cody Rhodes
versus Seth Rollins, I thinkgotcha and after that I started
watching a little bit on tv andthen they started I'm like I

(14:16):
think I'll go check that out andI did.
It was a freaking blast, like I.
I probably had more fun attheir show than I did at WWE,
just because you're so much morea part of it right at the
smaller venue.
And it was just they it was.
It was a lot of fun and so Itook my nieces to one and I I've
taken up watching raw it's ahabit and and I I really dig a

(14:40):
lot of the intro songs, so if myif that played more of the
intro songs, I would you'd heara lot.
You have to get a playlistyou'd hear more of them at the
bar at night, because I'd belike let's play this song it's
crazy how you can just pick aperson out too by their intro
song just hear the glass break, you're like it's steve, it's
steve well, this last year atwrestlemania, when they're in

(15:03):
the middle of doing things, allof a sudden you hear the gong
that's gonna shiver upeverybody's spine, yep but
especially mine.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
I love how, uh, but, like you were saying, I love how
, in in close and personal, youget at these local matches like
and then these people come, youknow, you know who to heal and
you know who the baby face is.
They come out and and they'reall yelling shut up shut up and
you're like you know people yellwhat they're gonna yell at them
and you know the certain guyscome out and then sometimes the

(15:34):
heels come out and they're andcrowd really likes that guy.
You just never know what'sgonna happen we have that effect
here in town everybody likesthe bad guy he'll.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
Yeah, this town loves the bad guys my nieces loved
the bad guys.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
When they went to, they're like, oh, I'm like, no,
that's the wrong person yeah, everybody likes who they like
yeah then you go buy the t-shirtand a lot of those yeah,
because they have merch there.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
So we always say you know what we pay them.
It's a good amount, but this istheir job, right, buy their
merch, support them absolutely, they all try to bring their own
merch and they bring their ownmerch, their you know shirts,
hats, stuffies, anything theyyou know.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
So we always say please support your, who your
favorites, or not even evensomeone you're booing support
them, because this is you knowyeah, they'll make a little bit
of money coming down and workingfor you, but a lot of their, a
lot of their, a lot of theirmoney is going to come from
their merch sales, you know alot of extra does yes, so it's,
it's kind of a lot of times.
They're standing there at theirmerch table and you can meet

(16:40):
them.
You can talk to them, take apicture with them, get them to
sign your shirt.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
Buy a shirt, buy a photo, they'll sign it take a
picture with you, so kids lovethat and they're, they're,
they're great to talk to, likejust like they're.
They're super friendly andthey'll have a conversation with
you there and it's.
It's a lot of fun just chattingwith them a little bit and I I
really enjoyed that part of itthe kids love it.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
The kids they.
Mr broadway always brings stufffor him, so the wrestlers will
give them something off of themand the kids love that.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
He's not my favorite, he's not my favorite.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
Mickey Midas.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
Yeah, go through some of the guys you've got and kind
of what they're.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
Well, we have Mickey Midas.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
And he's actually from AEW.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
Okay, he's done.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
After Dark.
Okay, we have.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
Christian Rose that there's no limit to Speaking of
wrestling.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
What.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
Sorry, that stand is so iffy.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
I got it.
I'll hold it.
I'll hold it.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
Sorry See.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
I start talking about Christian Rose.
See what happens.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
Oh gracious.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
We've had Paragon, we've had, I mean, ash, and
Alexander is our woman champion.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
The new guys are our tag team.
We have infinity Tim, who's ourheavyweight.
We have Logan Myers as ourMidwest.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Okay, all right, tim, he was cool.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
You liked him, he's.
He'll be here at the show andhe's one of those guys where the
music plays and you know he'scoming.
It's just let's go, and he'sone of our longest right
reigning champions enjoyed yourold champ, even though you
didn't well, it is what it is.
Things happen, things change.

(18:19):
You know, it's part of itChance coming you had a.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
When I went to there was some really tall girl that
was a wrestler.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
Oh Rebel.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
You men love her.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
You men.
There's a reason.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
Men love, if you'd see a picture of her, you would
too Okay.
There's all men love her.
They keep asking if she'scoming back.
We're trying to get her back.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
It's the tall women wrestlers rhea ripley, yep, yep
yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
So we're trying to get her back and we try to
listen to the fans like, oh, wereally like that person.

chamber of commerce, so you areofficially yeah officially in
the chamber, which I really likeseeing.
Um, some of these likenon-traditional businesses is
what I'll call it becoming, uh,chamber members, so, like most
of I'll call it Becoming chambermembers.
So, like most of your tattooshops in town now are chamber

(19:31):
members, and the local wrestlingcompany is now a chamber member
, and you know, I've got greatsponsors A bar, a tattoo shop.
There you go.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
And popcorn.
So hey, it's real rounded.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
You can shout out your sponsors if you want.
I got JNC Popcorn, okay, I andpopcorn.
So hey, it's a, it's realrounded.
You can shout out your sponsorsif you want.

He goes I'm getting food andI'm leaving.
I'm gonna eat it and I'm gonnasleep.
It's at our.
He's like taking over a tattooshop is the hardest thing I've

(20:34):
ever done in my life he's reallybig.
He's like between the insuranceand the paperwork and just
everything involved.
It's crazy state licensing myworld, right, yours too, yeah
being a business owner, it hasits quirks, especially in the
state of Illinois, man.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
Just become.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
Just become In my business, the state of Illinois.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
Hey, you can bring D6 to Bushnell, we'll take you.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
You know well, we suggested a couple other places
too, so the Rexon is big enough, surely?

Speaker 3 (21:09):
Well, couple other places too.
So the wrecks well, and you'dhave to move a ring and stuff
which is labor intensive.
Well, I would never take thesix-sided with.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
It does go into the four, so I would travel with the
four.
Okay, you know so, but it's,it's on the back runner.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
We hopefully can get to that point do a bit of
traveling shows a little bit.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
That'd be cool, be kind of like the old territory
days at that point yeah, but Imean we, we kind of like where
we're at because we stand outyeah how many places can you
continuously?
Nope, this is home.
We're not moved.
We'll be back, because ourfirst couple shows.
When are you going to be back?
No, no, no, we bought thebuilding for destination six

(21:42):
right, oh, really, yeah reallyso we kind of like that we don't
have to bounce around, but wedo want to travel yeah,
absolutely at least you know, acouple times and you want to see
your wrestlers go to otherevents and do well and and come
back because that makes themthat much better for your show.
Well, our wrestlers are.
You know we, we get them fromcalifornia to new york.

(22:03):
We have a couple coming fromjapan, so they're not
technically our wrestlers rightjust the circuit and but we do
have our regulars that we likeand try to keep and yeah, you
know some people don't like them.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
They're not their favorite well, the thing is, I
don't know if you here to to puton the show caleb is a
certified ninja.
I don't know if you know thisor not you didn't come to our
shows.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
We had somebody in the ring that he would have
loved.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
I could take him off the balcony, can we make?

Speaker 1 (22:39):
bets on McComb.

Speaker 3 (22:41):
I'll take Caleb on that one.
I was on the US team for JiuJitsu Karate World Champion
Powerlifter ok, I won't takethat bet we walked through that
on a legendaryary Luke's I wasjust like, okay, Ninja, exactly
how many certificates or beltsdo you have?

(23:01):
He went through all of them andI'm like, okay, I'm not messing
with that guy.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
I was going to say I'm not taking the bet.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
But if you chase him with a sock filled with salt and
pepper shakers?

Speaker 2 (23:11):
Salt and pepper shakers.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
I got a guy who attacked me with a sock full
with salt and pepper shakers.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
I got attacked me with a sock full of salt and
pepper shakers at Aurelio's onetime.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
Oh, really, that'd be a good wrestling dude who comes
out with like two socksswinging Condiment man Head over
to the bar area.
See Caleb over there bustingbeer bottles off his own head.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
Let's go, let's go.
I might have to work on that Ithink a little bit of coaching.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
I think caleb be a darn good wrestler here he is
the bartender.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
Why not?
I'm down.
My friends made bets on howlong it would be until I asked
to do a wrestling show for youguys.

Speaker 3 (23:56):
You know what would be perfect Mixed tag team you
and Jessica.
Oh God, that's if she evercomes back into your good graces
.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
She just doesn't ever come hang out anymore.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
No, that's my sister.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
So Jess and I are besties, used to be, used to be.
Used to be because she didn'tcome say hi anymore, but she
wouldn't let us meet for thelongest time.
And we met.
We became besties.
Oh wait.

Speaker 3 (24:23):
She doesn't come around anymore.
Well, it was funny because wewere doing one of our metal
shows upstairs here and when wewere talking back and forth we
were watching like I don't knowuh fat electrician.
We're watching fat electricianvideos and uh, jess looks over
at my buddy steve and she's justlike he's my friend, you know

(24:45):
that right.
And steve goes.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
No, don't think he is anymore, he gone yep, and now I
talk to you way when I talk toher but now we got wrestling
besties you reach out and andlooking forward to that that
would be scary in the ring.
You never know what she'll do,it's true that's kind of what
makes it great it's just like aspider monkey she'd be handing

(25:10):
out receipts left and right.
I just want to see her drop anelbow.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
She'd kill somebody with that elbow.
It's very sharp elbow.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
I'd like to stay in Macomb, so no killing.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
Oh gotcha.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
It was hard enough.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
I betcha.
So yeah, what kind of headachesdid you have to go through to
get wrestling in Macomb?
You said you came fromCalifornia, you got the building
, you got all set up and thenlike what was the channels?
What was the headaches that youhad to go through to just ring
the bell?

Speaker 1 (25:41):
The building had to be updated.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
It wasn't grandfathered in.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
So the city requested a lot of changes.

Speaker 3 (25:49):
They're talking like fire code type stuff.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
They wanted stairs gone, they wanted this, they,
they wanted me to basically getrid of some of the reasons I
bought the building.
We just kind of eased aroundthe certain things they wanted
and added and never got rid ofthe wood stairs or the.
There were things they reallywanted me to get rid of and I oh
yeah so I mean it was, it waswhat about six, seven months

(26:13):
worth.
We had to go through thehistoric section.
We had to go through the courtas far as two or three meetings
for those.
If everyone agreed, then wecould do it.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
Gotcha.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
So after you move from California and you buy a
building nobody told me thiswhen I bought the building I'd
have to go through so much justto put wrestling in there yeah,
I definitely want their theirthumbs on everything here or
that the, the, the communitycould actually come in and say
no, we really don't want it here.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
We only had one that really opposed it, so well
didn't work out too well forthem, we won.
It's kind of like I was alwayssold about buying a vehicle.
It was like the cheapest thingabout buying a vehicle is buying
the vehicle, everything afterthat, fixing it, insuring it you
know, so it is but it seemslike it's panned out pretty well

(27:06):
.
It has.
It was brought up in themeeting to him.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
So if she opened a strip club, would you have a
problem with it?
Or is it just wrestling?
And it became it was justwrestling funny story.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
They tried that too they opened one halfway between
between here and colchesterlasted what six months, as long
as they could.
And then I, from and from thestories I hear, I once, but from
what I hear, the owner knew itwas going to get shut down.
Yes, eventually, he just kindof did it out of spite.
Yeah, and the building's stillthere.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
So if he would have done a little bit better job
with the placement of thebuilding he could have.
So the county didn't have anyregulations against it, except
there's a state ordinance thatsaid he had to be so many feet
from a house, gotcha, and heexcept there's a state ordinance
that said he had to be so manyfeet from a house and he was
like seven feet too close, yeah, and if he would have placed a

(28:00):
little better, they couldn'thave.
They passed county ordinancesand then shut him down with the
state ordinance, so then when hemoved he would have to follow
the county ordinances.
And there was no place in thecounty that would work.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
I had a local guy I used to work for and he was
telling place in the county thatwould work.
I had a local guy used to workfor and he was telling me about
it.
I'm like he seemed to know anawful lot about that place he
goes.
I was a judge on amateur night,of course I did my friends and
I went there like the first.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
Like couple days it was open.
We walked in, we looked aroundand we left like, yep, that's
enough of this, let's go yeah, but I would say I would say
wrestling is a far cry fromstripping oh, absolutely I don't
know.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
Have you seen some of the women's clothes?

Speaker 2 (28:41):
well, no problems with it.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
No they're covered some raw athleticism, at least
exactly, and do you guys carrystorylines from match the match,
and you can see a lot of thaton the.
I've noticed some of that onyour guys' Facebook and go ahead
and shout out all your socialsso that people can find you and
see what we're talking abouthere.

Speaker 1 (29:02):
Well, we're on Facebook, we're on Instagram,
we're on Twitter.
We have a YouTube channel and aTikTok.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
And it's called D6 Wrestling or Destination.
It's either under d6w wrestlingor destination six wrestling
got you okay, so and you docarry, like you said, the
storylines and stuff from thebest part about this show coming
up.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
A lot of new storylines are starting a lot of
beef going on.
I like that a lot like that sothey started kind of last show
and they're going full force.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
So that's half the fun is going there and seeing, I
guess, the dramatic side of it.
Just seeing how it's all goingto go down Like story writing is
a huge part of wrestling.

Speaker 1 (29:41):
If you go on Facebook you can actually see the
storylines unfolding, becausethe wrestlers do their promos.
So they will actually starttheir promos and when they do,
it's kind of what the story isof what they're doing in the
arena.
So we've got a couple of heat, you know.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
Do you do like the locker room videos with the
projector and stuff inside?
We do those too.
That's awesome.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
We really try to do.
My son, Chris, does all of theediting.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
Sure, all the film, all the production work.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
So he's a big part of why we do this too.
Without him I couldn't do halfof it.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
We'll have to get him on sometime and walk through
some of the wrestling.
Good luck.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
He likes to be behind the scenes.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
No, that's nothing wrong with that.
So does Seth.
I didn't talk about the editingprocess.
He's got a microphone.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
He's talked like four words the whole time.
Like we just we, you know causeyou, you know we're in the
church we actually gutted one ofthe rooms and painted it solid
black.
It's going to be the new promoroom now oh nice, so I mean we
had it over here.
Now he wanted another one overhere.
So it's a big enough buildingto where we can.
We've done promos down in ascary basement scary basement.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
That's what makes it awesome, though.
That's where the heels live, that's not what lives in this
one.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
But anyway, so where your caskets are at the casket
is actually in the woman'sdressing room where it belongs,
try driving down the street andwith it in your truck, and
people driving on the side ofyou going, you know, looking at
you like you're nuts, you know.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
So I did I did honor guard work for three years with
the, with the national guard, where we were folding and
presenting flags, you know, halfa dozen times a week at
someone's gravesite.
So we were doing training atleast once a month.
We were going from one officeto the next training throughout
the state and you want to talkabout awkward is getting pulled

(31:32):
over in a huge like a conlinevan with a casket and a bunch of
flags inside of it what's goingon here?

Speaker 1 (31:42):
nothing anymore yeah, that would be yeah.
So I mean, we've got a lotcoming up and this is actually
coming up.
At the end of the year we'll beback-to-back.
Much shows nice to get all thestorylines.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
They'll end january, because january is our, our
memorial show, so it's biggerthan the rest gotcha is it like
clean slate and starting newstorylines, or is it like that's
kind of when they're all goingto end gotcha and then start new
, but it's, it's.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
The memorial show is when my son passed away.
So, we try to double up, havetrophies, have different
scenarios, going on to gauntlets.

Speaker 3 (32:20):
Kind of like fights for the bell Stuff like that
Stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
I think the first show I went to was the memorial
show.

Speaker 1 (32:26):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
I think the first show I went to was that Is it
kind of like your guys'WrestleMania in a sense.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
It is our WrestleMania, so did you see me
hit anybody that day?

Speaker 3 (32:35):
Okay, Do you get in the ring?
Do you wrestle around a bit?

Speaker 1 (32:38):
No.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
No.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
But after they jumped off the balcony I did want to
see if I could do it.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
Yeah, but I cheated and put a mattress down there.
Safety first.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
I'd be putting like a high jump mat or something.
No, I'd be putting like a highjump mat or something.
No, I'm inflatable bouncy house, hey that'd be interesting,
sean do you wrestle?

Speaker 1 (33:03):
no, we all have our jokes of what we do.
He's music oh gotcha no, we allhave our joke and we all fight
over who's not the owner, butwhen it comes down to it, it's
me and my son.
And then you know we just.
He's the editor, he's themaintenance man, he's music I.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
I'm just the bank, I just pay everybody you know,
there you go, it rolls downhillpretty quick it's like, when it
comes down to it, nobody wantsto, you know, but it's kind of
cool.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
I am getting in town now where I go somewhere.
Aren't you the mom from thewrestling show?
You're wrestling lady.
I'm like I don't know.
Do you wrestle, mom?
Do you like wrestling?
Yeah, I did.
I really love the show.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
Oh, yeah, I am well, that's and that's the one thing
people like.
If you, if you think that justflipping on the tv and seeing it
and going oh that's dumb's dumbas wrestling it's like actually
go to a show, like you willhave a blast.
It's so much fun, so much fun.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
I have a guy that comes in older guy, I kid you
not, he comes to every show he's.
I don't know if watching theshow is fun or watching the
people enjoy.
The show is fun.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
That's where I was in Bluegrass when I was watching
SCW.
I just just, it's a little,just a little, building out in
the middle of iowa, probably 15minutes outside of the quad
cities, and they pack 200, 300people in there every event
gotta let me come.
So capacity, capacity yeah sohopefully you're getting elbow

(34:27):
to elbow and you gotta startselling tickets shows.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
We are to full capacity, so it all just depends
on getting us.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
Getting us out there, hey western, get us an
auditorium I cannot.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
That would be nice that would be really nice.
How well the wrestlers dogetting people interact with
them.
It's it's freaking awesome.
It is just so much fun watchthat's part of their brand.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
You know, that's how they sell themselves.
That's how they sell theirmerch and really their art.
You love them, or?

Speaker 1 (34:55):
you hate them, but you're going to buy their merch
regardless, because you want to.
You hate them, you want to weartheir merch.
If you love them, you're goingto wear their merch.
So it's kind of, and after theshow they'll come out and take
pictures and pick you up by theshirt and go do you really want
to picture with me?

Speaker 3 (35:09):
You know, yeah, so it's kind of kind of cool.
No, we're excited, I'm glad, and you found one of my favorite
people in town and Caleb, andand that's going to be an
awesome collab.
So so really looking forward toit.

Speaker 1 (35:23):
It's going to be July 20th, july 20th door start
opening up at five 15 for VIP.
And when I say six o'clock I amthat woman that it's bell rings
at six?
Bell rings at six o'clock.
A lot of people come later.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
That's the one thing I've noticed and just because
people are going to ask what's,uh, what's the difference
between your standard pass andyour vip?

Speaker 1 (35:44):
vip is actually up on the state okay so when the
wrestlers come out, they willpay attention to you because
you're right there.
So that front row is, you know, front row behind the barrier,
and then we have the balcony andthe general is everywhere else.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
And what's your prices at each level?

Speaker 1 (36:01):
VIP is $30.
Front row is $25.
General is $20.
And kids 10 and under is $10.
Excellent.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
So affordable event for you to take the kids to, and
caleb's going to be there withthe tasty beverages, maybe
throwing people off the balcony, maybe not.
Maybe two at a time.
Maybe two at a time.
Maybe two people will bethrowing him off of the balcony
yeah, we do, private parties andbirthdays and nice so it's.

Speaker 1 (36:28):
It's the kids love the birthdays I'll bet so we're
going in the ring I I get him inthe ring I actually make him,
for you know, and I think thatone kid we did one time, he'll
remember that till he's 30 oh, Ibet he, he just was in shock.
I let him carry one of thebelts, so he was kind of really
I will, I will, I will agreewith you on that.

Speaker 2 (36:47):
I went to a wrestling match with my dad when I was
like 10 and I've never forgottenit, like it was just one of
those things like this isamazing, so it'll definitely
stick with him and he comes allthe time now too.

Speaker 1 (36:58):
But that one he got to hold the bell, he got to come
in the ring nice get hispicture with all the wrestlers.
So we try to really birthdays.
It doesn't matter whetheryou're a kid or an adult.

Speaker 3 (37:09):
We, if you want to be brought down, we'll bring you
down now, is that the kind ofthing like when you take your
buddies to a club and you payenough money, you can get him on
in the ring see me, you justhave to ask, okay well, we may
or may not get caleb in the ringthat night.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
I feel like we need to get kenny in the ring so we
need to get caleb and kenny inthe ring caleb and kenny and
that Kenny in the ring Caleb andKenny.

Speaker 3 (37:33):
That sounds great.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
I hear a private event coming up.

Speaker 3 (37:35):
Yes, we'll bring you Kenny DTW in the bank.
Kenny versus Caleb.
I love it.
Thank you for your time.
You can bring in that tallwrestler lady too.
Appreciate your time and I lovewhat you're doing and I think
it's going to be a lot of fun.
I got a couple other thingsgoing on that day, but I'm

(37:58):
really trying to hustle back forthat.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
Separates everybody.

Speaker 3 (38:02):
Gotcha, you got one of the cool passes I could wear.
You know that make me feelspecial.

Speaker 1 (38:05):
I actually have one in there.

Speaker 2 (38:07):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (38:09):
Oh man, he gets a vest, he gets a vest, he gets a
vest and a hard hat and a hardhat, and a 21-year thing for his
wrist too.
Oh man.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
I'm there.
He's going to just be special, okay, I like her too.
Is that her?

Speaker 3 (38:27):
Mm-hmm, I bet she's a very good wrestler.
All right, thanks, wrestler.
All right, thanks again.

Speaker 1 (38:34):
All right, thank you, appreciate you.
