Remember when you could sit with friends, sharing stories and laughter without a screen in sight? That's where our podcast journey began, and boy, has it blossomed! We've weathered job transitions and relocations, but through it all, our passion for conversation and community has only amplified. This episode takes you through the heart of our evolving adventure, from the gargae to the move to a new location. Along the way, we've navigated the murky waters of small victories that have kept our business pulsing with life.

Picture the 5 am clang of weights and the 8 am buzz of camaraderie at our local gym – it's the backdrop to tales of a community that's more family than membership. We share a slice of this vibrant life, where septuagenarians and school kids alike find their strength. Balancing manufacturing chaos, family, and fitness isn't just our reality; it's a testament to our collective resilience.

As we wrap our fitness-soaked dialogue, we welcome Korby from MacTown, whose humor and down-to-earth advice remind us that the journey to personal health is as unique as our DNA. He's the guy that makes you laugh about a salad drowning in ranch, while we're sneaking in a snicker protein bar for balance. From tales of youth camps crafting future sports stars to the impact of personalized coaching, we leave no weight unturned. So, lace up your sneakers and join us in a conversation that celebrates not just fitness, but the power of tailored coaching, community, and laughter – one rep, one chuckle, one story at a time.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
welcome to another dial the wild podcast I'm not
kidding, it's good, it'sactually nice.
It's good, makes me appreciatethings yeah absolutely that's.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
I mean, that's what they did back in the olden days,
dude, I'm like just went worked, went home, fell asleep and did
it again.
Talk to people.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Yeah, we did no tv and bullshit no just fucking
hang out talk, play games,whatever.
I'm like people come over to myhouse to hang out.
Now we actually like have tocommunicate and like figure out
something else to do.
Yeah besides sit around andwatch netflix or something.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
What did we do last week?
Uh, same thing we're doingright now.
Yeah, can you believe thatfebruary 1st of 2021 was our
first podcast?

Speaker 2 (00:54):
yeah, jesus, that's, that was podcast that's podcast
number two.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
That was like travis does podcast.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Okay, he's been doing it for and I thought about it,
I was like I'm like it's beenlike it for and I thought about
it, I was like I'm like it'sbeen three years.
It's been like three yearswe've been doing it.
That's what I told her.
I'm like.
I think it's been like threeyears.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Yeah, you were podcast number two, jesus.
Now I'm on like 88.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
How long does it take you to like do all the editing
and shit?

Speaker 1 (01:20):
now if I do like a 45 minute podcast which most of
them are anymore, unless we'rejust like bullshitting for an
hour or two then it's.
I might spend an hour or soediting and then I run it
through a filter to kind oflevel things off, and then, um,

(01:40):
getting it posted is the nextthing, and but it's good, man,
it still works.
But yeah, you came over to theold house.
We chilled in the basement andpodcasted for a while.
You didn't know what you weredoing, I didn't know what I was
doing.
It was fun.
Yeah, it was fun.
And then I took a new job, quitout and you bought a new

(02:08):
building.
Yeah, I was I.
It was so bittersweet.
I'm like I'm glad he'sexpanding, but I really missed
the gym over there next to thedepot, cause it was a lot of fun
.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
No, dude, I miss it too, because it was just like in
the middle of town actually andit was like a great
advertisement spot, especiallyon like friday nights like
tonight we're all saturdaymornings, we're all running up
and down the road and stuff andpeople are like what are they?
Doing.
And then yeah, and then youjust have random people stop by,
like here.
Yeah, there's random people.
You know someone who stopped bybecause they hear like loud

(02:45):
music playing and they're likewhat the fuck is going on over
there.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
It sounds like a club .
Yeah, they're working out?

Speaker 2 (02:50):
yeah, exactly, but then we got some people like
aspen court and stuff who didn'tswing by um, but it's a little
bit tougher, it's a little bitmore of a challenge actually to
uh promote um, market this placeback here, or yeah, because
we're just we're kind of sittingback behind jackson street

(03:10):
market and macomb glass and youknow pepsi, pepsi and we're and
we're behind the, we're on theother side of the shed, so
people go to the shed thinkingthat that's us and then I did
come over here did a podcast nottoo long ago with mike oh, okay
so, yeah, they're familiar withmichael over there and his um

(03:34):
jujitsu studio and stuff and hehad a pretty sweet gig uptown
and and decided to come overhere with you, so that worked
out pretty well for both of you.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
And then you had you ended up with two buildings.
I ended up with two buildings.
And now you're back to one oryou still got both of them.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Uh, I, I let my parents have the other building
Um, so that's theirs, um, sothat's theirs.
And uh, they still use some ofit for baseball, uh, running out
some dining cages and stuff, and they ran out some other
space as well, just to try toget a little bit of income to uh
help pay the utilities andwhatnot, yeah, but uh, yeah,

(04:21):
it's for a good cause and that'skind of what we're doing over
here too is trying to helppeople uh be fit and uh healthy
and uh really provide somethingI thought I asked.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
He's breaking your chair, he's popping out.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yeah, I don't you never.
I never knew how long thesechairs will last.
Actually, I just kind of gotthem from storage Are?
You still competing a lot.
I am still competing, yeah, good, where all have you been?

Speaker 1 (04:50):
this last year or so, because I see it on social
media.
Oh gosh, he's in like Floridathis week or something.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
His last year with work was a little crazy.
So this past winter when I dida competition, really my first
one was in north carolina injanuary uh, no, actually, yeah,
north carolina january and thenI did tennessee, um, after that

(05:23):
we just kind of, we we did theopen, the crossfit open, which
is virtual, okay, so you do likethree weeks, one workout a week
.
Video your workouts, submityour scores, turn that into
crossfit top 25, advanced atquarterfinals, which is another
online stage, um, and so that'slike one long five day span.

(05:46):
You do like four or fiveworkouts, same thing video
workouts submit your scores.
Top 40 go to semifinals inKnoxville at the end of May and
then from there top shoot liketop five go to the CrossFit
games okay, only five of them, only five, yeah, yeah.

(06:09):
So I've actually got some biguh off-season events coming up.
Fitness wise uh.
This year I'm supposed to go tocalifornia in september for a
big competition and Hungary inNovember, oh wow, with the team
USA functional fitness.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Do you remember when?
So did you go to?
Did you go to Korea?
I?

Speaker 3 (06:34):
went to China.
You went to China for a game.
I swear.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
I brought COVID back During.
Covid yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
I swear I brought COVID back.
Like when I got back, they'relike yeah it was already
happening.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
It was already happening.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Yeah, back.
They're like, yeah, it was allmore flights, it was already
happening.
Yeah, but they're like, yeah, there's no more flights.
I was wondering why, cause oursactually got delayed like a day
or two, I don't even remember, but we were, I just remember,
going to the airport and beinglike sorry, like your flights
canceled today, and we had noidea why.
And we went back to the hoteland just chilled like god, I

(07:07):
hope we can, like get back homesoon.
It was.
I mean, it was you could havebeen stuck in china.
Yeah, yeah, we had no I I mean,it was an.
It was an experience.
You go to most foreign countriesand a lot of people are
bilingual and like somewhatunderstand english you know and
you go to china and you get in ataxi and you pull up google

(07:28):
maps to try to like coordinatewhere your destination is, like
where you want them to take you,and the first time we did that,
uh, we ended up being like anhour away.
I'm getting dropped off like anhour away from our actual
destination.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
That was an expensive it was a man bill.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Oh yeah, it was a mess I had.
I did not realize how big chinaactually is.
My sister was pissed.
She went with me.
She's like you think you thinkyou, you know that I would have,
uh, done my research andactually known, like, what I was
getting into.
But no, I just kind of Iusually go with the flow and

(08:08):
that wasn't a good choice.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
That wasn't a good thing to do.
I remember that vaguely, causeyou came back and be like is is
you going to get toasted, butyou're like yes, I'm going to
get tested.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Dude, I was so sick when I got back I I like I went
into, I went to do a workoutwith the girls like Saturday,
that's week on a Saturday and Iwalked in I was like drenched in
sweat.
They're like go home, Do not bearound us.
Do not come close to us.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
Is it the same kind of format here, where they're
here at about five each morningand and then you got another
class at eight and then a couplein the evening, or?

Speaker 2 (08:47):
yeah, yeah.
So we have a 5 am uh, timmyharding comes in and kind of
leads that group, and then 8 amuh, another group workout.
Uh, amber patrick kind of takescontrol of that and leads that.
She has been forever.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
She's great she used to do the 5 am yeah kids and
stuff.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
It's a whole nother.
Yeah, it's getting them out thedoor, but no, she's awesome.
Um, and then I do a 5 30 in theafternoon right now.
Hopefully, uh, hopefully, wecan add something else.
Um, I love group classes, butbesides, it's just a lot of.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
Well it's a lot of fun.
You're actually pushing eachother.
I mean we'd get together fordinner like every other week or
so.
Oh, exactly Because I'm overhere busting our ass and we all
end up at Mexican.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Yeah, exactly, and we were just at Mexican Sunday.
It's like sweet too.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Now that you say that , god, it's hilarious it is, but
I loved it because you'd havesomebody.
How old was Skip, do you think, when he was?

Speaker 2 (09:53):
working out.
I remember his 70th birthday.
We did a workout together.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
Yeah, so you had him there and then you had people in
there with their grade schoolkids doing the same workout,
anything and everything inbetween.
It was a lot of fun, andunfortunately I don't know if
it's still that much fun, because my dumb ass moved to
bushnell no, it's still a blast.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
I mean everyone, everyone, basically.
That used to work out stillcomes um.
But yeah, we always talk aboutwhere's travis.
Is travis ever going to comeback?
And I said well, he moved tobush here we go he's, he's uh
here we go he can't make thedrive, so I don't know if we'll

(10:38):
see him, hopefully, in the nearfuture.
This is one step.
This is one step closer.
One step getting him in the gymis this the intervention.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
One step, this is one step closer.
One step closer.
Getting him in the gym tonight.
Is this the intervention?
Yeah, I'll do a podcast.
By the way, you're fat, getback in the gym.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
This is it.
This is the one I told Steph.
I said hey, maybe Trav will behere.
We'll see him soon.
I've got to be able to come onTuesday nights anyways for
archery.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
So there you go.
Once a week.
Once a week, there you go.
I would love that Steph talksabout you all the time.
Still, I love Steph, and if mygirls, uh, if we didn't end up
moving to Bushnell, they wouldprobably still be at West
Prairie, and so there was achance that, like she could
teach my daughters.
So I was really excited aboutthat.
And then we bought a house.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Oh man, that's okay.
Moving on to bigger and betterthings.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Yeah, it is, it's been a.
It's a whole different grind.
You know just the manufacturingworld and kids ball playing age
and everything, dancing age andanything else that they can do
to be expensive if they do it.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
yeah, we gotta like love it yeah, it's awesome it's
once in your life bows.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
Now you know it's it's a blast and um.
I don't want any more, but Ilove the ones I got right
exactly but you've been uh,you've been busy with a lot of
your instagram stuff, videos andstuff.
Are you doing all your owncontent now or are you putting
it up or uh?

Speaker 2 (12:14):
I actually work with, uh, a couple video, uh content
creators, um, and someone whohelps with my instagram, um,
kendra, whack and jessack, whothey're from Macomb originally
she used to be a personaltrainer and stuff here.
They moved to Tennessee for afew years, gotcha, they moved

(12:36):
back and they live up by Quincynow.
They're super awesome.
They've been like I wouldn'thave grown as much as I have.
Yeah, I guess it was kind of adumb question.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
Yeah, I guess it was kind of a dumb question, because
if you'd have thought that, like running an Instagram
channel would have taken awayfrom your workout, you
definitely wouldn't be doing itright now.
Oh my gosh.
I have to push pause.
No, I try to get one more setin, so you'd be like that would
be pissed off.
Try to get one more set in, soyou'd be, like that would be
pissed off.

(13:08):
You're not getting the contentyou want, but you're also not
getting getting the the workoutin that you want to get.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
I wish I could run my own stuff, but god same.
They are amazing for helping me.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Yeah yeah, because there's definitely tricks of the
trade when it comes to and nowthat you're like getting
sponsors and posting events andstuff, now you got to figure out
algorithms and the right timeof the day to post stuff it's
like dude, I just want to do apodcast now, fine, oh, you just

(13:38):
want to work out and have fun.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
yeah, exactly, I had a buddy stop in last night, tima
, and he showed me some of thestuff on Facebook.
Yeah, just like, cause he usedto uh market, um for this
farming company.
And uh, he showed me somedifferent things.
Like, hey man, you need youshould boost this post and this

(13:59):
is.
but this is how you do it, likego into the settings and like
captivate this certain audiencein this region.
I'm like, oh, okay, so I couldlike be more efficient with the
way that I spend my money whenit comes to marketing in my time
, yeah absolutely so.
That was super awesome, so I'vehad a lot of support.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
It's and then you learn all these things when you
start putting on events too likeyou gotta.
If you want people to see yourevent on social media, you gotta
put it up a certain times ofthe day, or?
Or.
I'm not gonna pay for it, butyou can pay for it to be put up
at prime 100 and I'm just jeezchris.
I have to get help when I whenI do the the production events.

(14:40):
I have to get help if I don'tthen I'm just like everybody's
like you had a show last week.
It's like damn it.
Yes, I've been posting it fortwo months now, but that's how
the monster grows, man.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
No, I'm always like, especially when it comes to the
gym.
It's like I'm just here, I justmake sure it continues running
and pay the bills, like I, notthe gym, like the members are
the gym.
Right, it's like people whohelp me with the marketing stuff
, with like sponsors and brandsand CrossFit and stuff, like I'm

(15:20):
not successful without them.
Absolutely Super grateful forthat.
I would not.
I'd never try, never to takeall the credit.
I always try to share, you know, the, the love and everything
with other people.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Absolutely yeah.
It takes a village in more thanone way.
So yeah, it's, it's huge.
And, speaking of the productionevents, you were a sponsor for
that and we did appreciate that.
Um, hopefully somebody sawmactown on a metal poster and
was just like I'm gonna go workout with that guy, hopefully
that'd be nice, or I'm not gonnago over that guy.

(15:56):
He's fucking, he's too intenseyeah, I just got my ass beat in
the pit.
I better go muscle up.
Yeah, I always love watchingthe guys that that are that
think they're working out butthey're not and they still go
into casey's and bite musclemilk and they're just like I
feel amazing oh god, yeah, Iknow, I know, yeah, oh, 80 of

(16:25):
what you.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
You know, though, your workout is what you put
into your body.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
It's absolutely even actually it's not even the
workout.
I tell people that all the timeis like 70, 80 is just what
you're eating and drinking someof the stuff that they promote.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Man like snickers protein bars have you seen those
?
Yeah, probably.
Yeah, snickers protein bars anduh quest m&ms like.
If people are like oh man, thismust be good for me it's in the
healthy isle at walmart, soit's just protein on it and
they're like I'm gonna eat thisand instead of uh, you know that

(17:06):
like it's full of oil, full ofoil and oil, no oil, peanuts,
yeah, exactly, and it'schocolate coated, but it's got
some protein in it.
It's good.
It's good for you it's like Igot a salad.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
Really, what'd you have on it?
I don't like a bottle of ranch.
I'm guilty oh, that's funny no,it's, it's and it really.
As long as you're consistent,it doesn't take much.
But like if you don't put thetime and effort into it, then it
does not take long for it alljust to kind of evaporate no, it

(17:42):
doesn't.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Yeah, exactly, and like the unfortunate part, like
we kind of like laugh and jokeabout the uh, you know what, we
were just talking about proteinbars and like the mis conscued,
I guess, like what's healthy andwhat's not, like what you
should be eating and consumingmore of and we should be
consuming less of um people getstuck into that.

(18:07):
You know from just how the worldis, you know listening to other
people, whether it's socialmedia, friends, family, etc.
Um, and then they get lost anddon't even know what to do.
Like I've talked to, there's alot of kids in their 20s and
college kids who are gettingthese surgery, like reverting to

(18:29):
surgeries, like belly fatreduction surgeries and, oh wow,
taking you know, we know whereyour taking yeah, taking shots
and like to reduce theirappetite and pit like different
things like, and they're payingout their butts yeah

Speaker 1 (18:44):
for these things, like some surgeries, can cost up
to like five grand and some ofthese shots are like four or
five hundred bucks a month andsome of the other stuff that's
out there now that, yeah, it wascreated for diabetics and heart
patients right, exactly, andnow you're taking it for weight
loss, spending 200 bucks a monthgetting injected, yeah it.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
It's sad because they're missing.
We're like our bodies are, likewe're meant to move and you
don't get the same feelings.
Your endorphins don't get thesame feeling.
It wears off, you know, bygetting these injections, these
surgeries and stuff.
There's nothing, you know, likegetting in and doing something

(19:25):
hard every day, like just we'reshowing up to the gym.
It's hard.
Yeah, you show up to the gym, you've just done the hardest
thing, up as hard waking up andgetting out of bed, it's like,
exactly, you're not freaking,kidding.
And so when you show up and yougo to the gym and you get a
workout in, you sweat, since youfeel good about yourself and
you get a workout in and yousweat.
Sense the entitlement you feelgood about yourself, yeah, and

(19:46):
you actually have confidence inyourself and it makes you a
better person for your friends, family and, most importantly,
you.
You make yourself proud yeah.
And that's like what we'remissing, like in today's society
.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
That's a lot of it.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
It is a lot of it.
I would agree with that.
Yeah, society, it's a lot ofit's.
It is a lot of it.
I would agree with that.
Yeah, I feel like, you know, being able just getting the
opportunity to invest in peopleand like teach them that you
know and just kind of be therefor them, um it's huge.
You know we need more.
We need more of that, I thinkthat.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
That's what I miss most about being at the gym full
time is to anything was likethe um.
The accountability was why Iliked a lot, because if there
went two or three days I wasn'tin the gym.
It was like I get a messagefrom corby hey, where the hell
are you at?
It's like, oh, sorry, man, Igot this that going okay.

(20:44):
Well, you've come a long ways,you know.
Don't stop now.
It's like okay, oh, I'm sorryyeah, I mean it's just, it's
like I'm paying you but I'mstill apologizing to you.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
It's a weird concept.
You invest and you try toinvest in people and you want
that same investment back and itjust it sucks when you start to
care about people and, uh, youknow that's one of the hardest
parts.
You know you're getting tooattached emotionally to people
and then seeing them not reachtheir goal, but it's, I mean,

(21:17):
it's also your goal too, becauseyou're trying to help them get
there, yeah, and then all of asudden they vanish.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
You know where they're gone or something you
know, and it's like anythingelse that is like, oh, I didn't
accomplish what I wanted to, orthings aren't going the way I
want to, so I'm just gonna kindof slip out and you know, do the
whole social media.
Hey, you know, I'll try it,maybe later or something.
But it's it kind of sucksbecause you get, like you said,
emotionally invested and thenall of a sudden it's you're

(21:46):
ghosted man and it's just amatter of shame.
Yeah, right, and I don't meanthat to be an ass, I mean that
is.
You know, whenever you didsomething wrong as a kid, you
felt a little bit of shame aboutit.
You didn't want to talk aboutit, you didn't want it to be
made public.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
You just wanted to quietly deal with it and move on
.
Yeah, we all have those.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
Yeah, whether you go and work out or not, I've got
plenty of this.
Oh oh shit, dude yeahabsolutely, we're actually
really bummed out this last yearbecause, like what is it?
Two years ago I had devin meyou, marcus, and we had one
other guy on a golf cart flyingthrough wiu that was.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
That was actually a lot of fun.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
That was a blast just how bad corby is a goal.
Oh, I'm so bad.
I'm actually like how is acollege baseball player so bad
at golf?

Speaker 2 (22:42):
I'm so bad I.
That is the one sport I just Iwon't do it.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
It was funny as hell because there's five of us there
.
I'm like corby, how's thisgonna work?
He's like we're gonna play withfive of us.
That's not how this works.
You're like I just paid 700,we're rolling five deep.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
Yeah, we are okay, here we go.
Oh god, I actually am actuallysponsoring MPD's golf outing at
the end of May, nice, it wassupposed to be last weekend, but
it's the end of May.
I'm like I'm not fuckinggolfing.
I'm going to show up andsupport them, but I am not
talking to a golf club, not achance.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
Turn around and face the highway.
Okay, how the hell did youstill shank it?

Speaker 2 (23:23):
Yeah, literally turning around like 180 degrees
basically.
Oh my God.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
He's like are we going to sponsor a team this
year?
I don't know, Izzy, I don'tknow.
That was a lot of fun though Ihad several other buddies that
were at that outing.
It's crazy I never realizedjust how much college baseball
parents party Welcome to collegebaseball parents party.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Welcome to a college baseball.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Holy crap they were out there tailgating nine in the
morning with bloody Mary'sgetting ready for a golf outing.
I was like, oh, okay, here wego.
And then, uh, 18 holes later, yeah, we're still feeling pretty
good oh yeah, uh, that was ablast.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
that was a lot of fun , but so what's on the agenda
nowadays?

Speaker 1 (24:16):
you said you're still competing yeah, still competing
right now.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
You know, I'm just chilling a little bit.
I got like super sick dude likethree weeks ago.
Oh really my body like blew uplike I would try to do like a
workout or something.
But it just Just chilling alittle bit, I got super sick
dude.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
like three weeks ago, oh really, my body blew up.
I tried to do a workout orsomething and it just stopped.
It just quit.
Did you have to do a reset orsomething?

Speaker 2 (24:35):
Yeah, dude, I literally gained 25 pounds,
really 25 pounds.
Last week I went to the doctorto get antibiotics and stuff
because I was like last resort,I hate going to the doctor.
I try everything ice bath, sauna, massages, ivs, anything
besides.
You know, I just hate what Ihate?
Medicine, I I just hate I don't, I hate it man well, it's my

(24:58):
thing.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
If it's a common cold or something, you could sweat
it out.
It wasn't when it took.
When it's your bloodstream orsomething, dude, you gotta get
help.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
So I got weighed at the doctor's last.
So when I first before I gotsick, I was 205.
I got weighed as a doctor lastweek, 231.
That's how much fluid was goingup a weight class, yeah,
weighed myself like two days ago, like when I'm like okay, like
I'm back to normal, yeah, 2.11.
Like all right, like my bodywas like super, like I don't

(25:28):
know what it was.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
It had no idea.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
I mean this body was just filled with that much fluid
Like holy crap.
It was insane.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
What did they say?
It ended up being they.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
just when they don't know what it is, they just give
you a general sinusitis orsomething.
Oh yeah, so they just.
I just they had to have beenmore.
I have no idea.
I got blood work and stuff done.
They're like oh well, thiscorrelates with sinusitis, so
that's what it was.
So I was like all right.
Well, whatever you say, you'rethe professional.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
You're the dog.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
Yeah, so that, yeah, so, so that.
Anyways, so you're doing gymfull-time now gym full-time
training, a lot of peopleenjoying it.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Yeah, talk about your , uh, what you're doing online.
That's interesting.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
You were showing me that a minute ago, yeah, so I
start clients off super slow ona initial assessments and

(26:34):
testing phases.
Everything's superindividualized so I'll take
clients through their goals.
I've got clients, uh, who are50 55, who just want to be able
to go out and play with theirkids and do you know daily jobs
and chores around the house.
I've got law enforcementofficers who just want to look

(26:54):
good and perform their dailyduties and I've got some uh in
the middle, uh, competitivecrossfit athletes who you know
want to reach the next level, and so everything.
You start them all off with thetesting phase.
Uh, we try to screen for any uhstrengths and weaknesses, any

(27:17):
underlying injuries, anythingthat I need to be aware of, so
that we can uh work on that and,um you know, get stronger in
different positions that they'reweak at.
We can work on any limitations, any mobility issues.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
Well, you look at the big picture too.
When you do that, you're notjust like, hey, you're coming to
back and bys next day just totry.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
No, it's not bullshit .
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
You're taking BMI and you're, which I understand you.
You know BMI works to an extentI haven't stepped in body
skiing.

Speaker 2 (27:48):
We do their weight, body, their muscle mass and body
fat percent.
We set a goal and just kind ofcheck out their general
realistic goal, I think, is thebig.
Thing exactly and theirlifestyle, and we do some
different like strengthexercises, just some like cardio
things, just to kind of see howtheir cardiovascular and
strength is, and then from thereI'll build a program based on

(28:12):
exactly what their goals andtheir mission is.
So everybody's different, everyone's individualized, so it
takes it takes time to getthrough all their programs and
stuff and build it out and uh,some of them, honestly, I've got
one who's struggling with ashoulder issue.
I don't know nothing about thatshe was struggling with a
shoulder issue before she cameto me.

(28:32):
So we're taking it like day today and I'm building it out day
to day, checking it.
I check in with her almostevery day throughout the week.
I try to stay off my phone alittle bit more on the weekends.
I shut it off eight o'clock atnight but when I get up you know
I'm messaging clients andchecking in with them and making
sure you know they're on track.
They don't have any questions.
They can always shoot me a text.

(28:53):
I talk to them on the phone allthe time.
There's some who will um.
I've got a couple online.
You know people from hannibalwho drive down here once a week
to work with me, a couple inMonmouth, a couple obviously
here in Macomb, one in Quincy.
They all really enjoy it.
I've had some really goodfeedback.

(29:14):
The fitness industry has justkind of changed a little bit.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
You've got to know how to adjust with it.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
People love the remote coaching.
It's super easy to use.
There's, you know, videos anduh, I can go in there and give
the clients notes, feedbacks.
They plug videos in ofmovements.
Hey, corby, can you look atthis and I'll look at their
movement and I'll providefeedback on every single thing
that they're doing.
And uh, day by day, week toweek, and uh, yeah, just overall

(29:45):
, I've gotten really goodfeedback.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
I'm super excited and if you don't want to, take the
time or the money to, to do theindividualized stuff you're
always really good about, like, okay, if you want to come to one
of the classes that arescheduled, you know, for the
open workouts, um, I'd be like, okay, look, I'm not doing snatch
because, uh, my shoulderswrecked.
You like, okay, well, let's,let's do this, this and this,

(30:10):
and that'll compensate for yourinability to do that.
And it was always nice to justhave options, you know, instead
of just here's the workout go,which I do.
Like that aspect of it too, because I really liked getting
off at a certain time, gettingto the gym, getting my ass
kicked for like an hour and thenbeing able to go on with the
rest of my day.
Because you know how it is withmost of us we go to a gym, we

(30:33):
pay a membership or 30 bucks amonth or whatever it is.
We will be there two or threehours, spend half of it on our
phone.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
Right, you know exactly, and I've had a lot of
people switch and come over herejust because that aspect, just
because the group setting, because it's nice being around
people Right, and other peoplewho are motivated.
Right, you know, it's not justcome in here and get your ass
kicked, but it's come in hereand have a group of awesome
people.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
Everybody's getting their ass kicked.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
To be around too.
Yeah, exactly, you know, know.
So it's a lot more fun, it's alot more bearable, yeah, and I
mean a lot of people are justhere to socialize, and sometimes
they're just venting abouttheir day to each other and yeah
, their workout and you knowthey're just bullshit, and
throughout the entire workoutyeah which is cool.
I you know it's.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
It's their workout, it's your hour, it's your best
hour of the day is what I callit, and if you got to come in
and vent and you're putting inyeah, exactly, if you're coming
in and you're venting, butyou're still getting half a
workout.
You're still getting half aworkout.
It does, yep exactly, exactly.
So you hit me up not too longago.
You got this big summer campproject going on.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
Let's talk about that uh, in June, starting in June,
June 3rd through the lead, the26th of June, it's four weeks.
Uh, it's going to be our firstsession, so we're going to have
one in June.
We're going to have anotherfour week session in July.
Um, that way, uh, if you know,a lot of kids have camps in June

(32:07):
, they can do the one in July.
If a lot of you know, some havecamps in July.
They can do the one in June.
It's kind of why.
I split it up, uh, but I'mtrying to cater to anyone from
youth, third grade through fifth, uh, grouping them together,
and then junior high, sixththrough eighth, and the high
school night through 12th.
Um, and yeah, we plan on doinga summer camp and sports

(32:33):
specific working on again, justkind of like I'm doing the
online programming to making itspecific to the kids, uh, their
needs, um, limiting the spotsonly 10 group, 10 kids per group
.
That way I can work with eachkid there you go yeah, and it
doesn't get too overwhelming.
And you know they feel like theywalk out of here with something

(32:54):
uh super valuable at the end ofthe summer and hopefully you
know my goal at the end of it isto retain, obviously, a bunch
of those kids and to be able tobuild individual programs for
them moving forward when I was, when, I was involved.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
It was crazy how a handful of high school kids come
in and all of a sudden theirparents are here working out, or
you get a husband or somethingand all of a sudden his wife's
in here working out, orsomeone's in here working out,
then their daughter shows up, oryou know, it's crazy how that
grows.
And a lot of that is from thecamaraderie you're talking about
or the accountability thatcomes with it.

(33:32):
You know, just, we're so-and-soyou know, that's exactly.
You know when someone misses aworkout, and then it's almost
like you have to text somebodyahead hey, I ain't gonna make
the workout today because Igotta take a kid to something
and there's like but we'reso-and-so, they never miss a
workout.
I had to take a kid to thedoctor or something.
Yeah, but the.
But the camp, you've got agespecific.
You said it's going to be kindof, but we're so-and-so, they
never miss a workout.
Oh, they had to take a kid tothe doctor or something.

(33:52):
Yeah, but the camp, you've gotage-specific.
You said it's going to be kindof garnered around
sports-related movements andactivities and stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
Mm-hmm, yep, a lot of dynamic movements, power
outputs, speed, agility.
We're going to have a testingphase at the beginning testing
day.
We're going to have a testingphase at the beginning, uh,
testing day, uh.
And then we'll do a four weekcycle and super quick, just
because that's what the sessionis, and then we'll do another

(34:24):
testing day at the end of it,just so the kids see progress,
we see progress and, um, they, you know, know that they got
bigger, thinner, faster, stronger, stronger, you know,
more powerful at the end of itthere, you're not gonna get much
bigger in four weeks.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
I said no, I said the wrong thing there, but it does
create good habits.
Yeah, it creates a good habit.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
It creates a good base for the kids and I just I I
hope to create an environmentum a good environment and get
them to enjoy working out.
There, you go Because they needto.
They can't just be beatingtheir head Playing videos.
Against videos and doing sports12 months out of the year.

(35:04):
That's fair, you have to buildsome kind of base and you have
to get stronger, faster, fitter.
On top of that, you need somekind of off season and working.
You know you, you can't justsit around and play video games,
like you just said.
You need to still work outduring that off season for an
hour a day, but you need somekind of mental break from, from

(35:27):
sports and life.

Speaker 1 (35:29):
Life, yeah, really, you know it was always nice to
have that hour or so working outwhere it's just like nothing to
worry about exactly but movingmy fat ass for for an hour, you
know exactly so but that, and Ilike how you're limiting,
limiting each class like 10 kids, because then it's like um,
every everybody's different.

(35:51):
So, like this kid's developingor growing a certain way, you're
going to recognize that.
You're going to be, like okay, you're kind of a shorter,
lengthier kid, you know, we'llput a little meat on your bones.
Try to get you a little moremobile, a little quicker.
Or maybe you'll see a, a kidthat we would deem a little
heavier, and just be like okay, let's try and slim you down, get

(36:14):
you flexible, and we alwaysneed offensive linemen.
Well, that way too.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
You know I can.
I can provide some extraadditional resources to like
kids like that.
You know who need to some likenutritional tips advice, that
you know who need to some likenutritional tips advice.
I can give them some exercisesto do outside of here because we
are doing, you know we'll berunning the camp tuesday, monday
, tuesday, thursdays um, forthose sessions and who's to say

(36:42):
you can't go do more on theother days if you really enjoy
it.
Right, we're outside.
You know I've had plenty ofother athletes who I freaking.
Ethan ladd was one who startedwith me.
He couldn't jump to a 20 inchbox when we first started in
eighth grade and now he'splaying football at Western.
Yeah, like you know, in duringhigh school he loved it so much

(37:04):
His dad would have to likemonitor him and be like, hey,
you need to stay out of the gymCause we have a game tomorrow.
Like I don't need you.
I don't need you cramping, it'sgoing to be 90, 100 degrees.

Speaker 1 (37:16):
And then you got kids like Braden Duncan who was
running around doing handstands.
Yeah yeah yeah, he's runningaround on his hands.
Now he's tearing it up incollege golf.
And a lot of that could beattributed to not only the
strength but the flexibilitythat he gained working out here,
to not only the strength butthe flexibility that he gained.
You know working out here andyou know there's and there was a
time where there was a lot ofgyms shut down in town and a lot

(37:38):
of people had to come.
There is a time to back down.

Speaker 2 (37:42):
We can talk about that now.
Yeah, that's fine, but yeah no,that's when the group of boys
all came, and now they're offplaying college sports Almost
all of them, besides maybe onewho just decided to do something
else.
I think he's tearing up thestudent section, though, at U of
I Nice, but everyone elseplaying college.

(38:05):
One's playing collegebasketball, two are playing at
Western right now.
You said Braden's tearing it upin golf.
Yeah, he's a beast.
God, god, that dude squatted somuch and he's a little skinny
like 100 pounds.
I'm like jesus dude imagine ifyou were, if god gave you a like
, a frame of any kind?

(38:25):
Yeah, exactly jesus, but he'sdoing what he can for he's got
yeah, beast work ethic, and thatsport's all about flexibility
and motion, and I would ratherhave a work ethic, honestly and
like had, like only get what, like go play division three or
something, you know, get theopportunity but work my ass off

(38:48):
to earn my spot, than to just begiven god-given talent and get
a d1 scholarship.
Well, you know like it's coolbecause it you know in social
media and shit.
Like it's cool, like whatever, like you can be, like you're a
big shot, hot shot for fouryears, but what are you after
that?
Yeah you know what I mean, right, right it's the work that

(39:10):
you put in in life.
That, like, makes you a betterperson.
It makes you proud of you.

Speaker 1 (39:17):
Yeah, I liked how you hit on the on the mental aspect
of that too.
It's just like the sense ofaccomplishment, the sense of
pride you get is just.
You know, you see somebodywho's been working their ass off
.
They step up on a scale andthey're like down 10 pounds.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
Just, you know, know the glow, awesome, and that's
what people like, that's whathow people should feel and it's
like you'll you notice more withpeople who don't invest into
their bodies, invest intothemselves, and you know, like
self, somewhat of a self-care,and not necessarily in a selfish

(39:53):
way, but like that's, that'swhat we're supposed to do, like
we're supposed to take care ofour bodies.
We have one body.
You know, we don't know how longwe're gonna live you're not
controlling how long you live, you're just controlling like you
now to be the best you can benow yeah, you know how I feel.

Speaker 1 (40:12):
It just feels like you're talking like right to me
right now.
No, I'm not, it's all this isan intervention.
I knew it not at all but no I'mjust.

Speaker 2 (40:19):
What I was getting at is you can see the confidence
and like a lot of people and alot of kids now and the social
aspect of it too is sad likepeople don't even like right
look at each other and talk tothem that much and they're like
nervous as heck, and so you seeall these mental disorders like
anxiety and depression and etc.
Things like that, and it's likeat an all-time high and that's

(40:43):
why it's because we've got allthese other kind of programmed
kids to be that way yeah we'vegot all these other things that
we're focusing on the wrongthings, you know, and it's like
well, even with sports.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Yeah, and athletics, now it's.
It's about you know whose kidsshould be playing, or you know
the political side of it.
I want to, yeah, I want to showpeople.

Speaker 2 (41:08):
I want to help people .
I want to help people.
Not just show people, but be anexample of working hard and
just being the best that you canbe.
That's what you need to do.
That's what we were made for,Right, you know.
And then everything else willfall into place.
Yeah, it will.

Speaker 1 (41:29):
I mean, that happens.
You work on your mental health, mental health your spiritual
health.
Yeah, you know it comes.
You know a lot of it.
I like it when a lot of peopleyou know will gripe about their
significant other or somethinglike.
Oh my gosh, driving me nuts Justnags on me all the time.
It's like it's amazing howifvis just starts taking care of

(41:51):
travis yeah, and trying to be abetter version of travis, how,
like the marriage and theparenting and the guy I am at
work yeah, like how that allkind of falls in line, whether
it's whether it's like you justneed to read a book and work on
your 100, how your your outlook,or whether you need to go to

(42:12):
church and hear it there, orhowever it is, you get your
tuning fork.
I guess you know to try andstay on the on the straight
would you agree we're too busynowadays.

Speaker 2 (42:27):
Oh, very much.
So we were too busy, like verymuch quotes, like too busy, like
we just take time, like youjust said, like read a book.
When's the last time you read abook?
Uh?

Speaker 1 (42:41):
if it's not work related.
I I man, I just don't peoplelaugh.

Speaker 2 (42:45):
If I told my parents read a book, they would like
laugh or go back to their phonesand get on facebook or
something like.
No, seriously, like let's reada book.
Like read a book, or somethinglike it's good it feels, good
it's like it's actually investlike holy cow, like it makes you
kind of self-reflect, whetheryou want to or not.
I'm like you start to beginlike, oh man, this is no, that's

(43:09):
not me, they can't be no, Imean like no, it probably is me.
Like let's be real here, oh likethis sentence it's not you,
it's me right now yeah, I couldtotally relate to this and it's,
it's, I mean, it makes you moreself-aware, yeah, and
ultimately you start to makebetter.

(43:30):
I mean you, could you start tomake better or at least you're
more aware of your decisionsthat you're making?
Like you said, it's just allabout being the best you and
being a healthier version of you.
Yeah, I mean, that's my mission.

Speaker 1 (43:47):
That's why I'm doing what I'm doing God.

Speaker 2 (43:50):
I had the hardest time leaving my job because I
love the people and I did likeyou know, I like the job, but I
feel like this is what I'msupposed to do, like I'm not
getting any younger.
No, you know, I'm not marriedright now.
Like it's I can.
You know, this is the time todo it, right now, you know you
can only be the fittest cop inMacomb.

Speaker 1 (44:08):
for so long, only for so long.

Speaker 2 (44:10):
Yeah, exactly.
And then I got to pass thetorch and now I don't know who
it's going to be.

Speaker 1 (44:17):
We'll see, we'll find out.
No man, it's cool to see whatyou've accomplished, from what?
19-year-old in your garage towhere you're at now.
Like I said, I'm still partialto the gym over by diggers.
No dude, I miss that place.

Speaker 2 (44:35):
I miss the atmosphere actually just like around
because it's like right by thesquare, yeah, and it's super
easy.
Great advertising now it's coolbecause it you got to be a
little bit more creative tryingto advertise back here like,
absolutely, I just want to makelike a giant billboard or sign
and hang it up outside.

Speaker 1 (44:54):
Yeah, you get a big old flashing billboard yes, that
would be awesome let's talk tocarol.

Speaker 2 (44:59):
Maybe I was gonna say maybe you and I can go over.
Hey, carol, we're carol, we'regonna put a big ass sign in here
if we're in a partner togetherand we're gonna put uh, we're to
put sponsored by Jackson StreetPub right underneath there you
go, there you go, big old Corby, head up there on a sign that

(45:21):
would be hilarious Next toTravis.
Actually, just put Travis.
No, we'll put it next toDevin's.

Speaker 1 (45:25):
He's got his shelter insurance.
Yeah, we'll put that Big melonhead on the highway.

Speaker 2 (45:29):
Everyone will be so confused when they walk in here
and they're like wait a minutethere's that guy where's the
other one?

Speaker 1 (45:37):
that's awesome oh, good times laughing, laughing.
Oh, working out all week justto go have Mexican on Fridays.

Speaker 2 (45:50):
Yeah, that's the point of it, that's what we of
it, that's the point of it itwas great, slam a cup of beers.

Speaker 1 (45:58):
Be like hey, stop doing that, sorry, yeah we're
running extra mild.

Speaker 2 (46:04):
We missed travis around here.
I promise you that it's a goodtime, man.

Speaker 1 (46:09):
I I wish I wish I had more time down here to, I know,
to put to it, but we're gonnaget um stuff out.
If you are at all interested ingetting your kid or yourself
involved in mactown fitness, youcan holler, dial the wild.
I'll get you over to corby.
Corby Foxall, that's his name, the MacTown madman the strongest

(46:33):
man in Macomb.
Seth, and I do that all thetime.
It's Corby Foxall, thestrongest man in Macomb.

Speaker 2 (46:42):
I would not say I'm the strongest man.
There's some stronger maybelike overall.

Speaker 1 (46:47):
We're always giving you like a WWE promo.
It's like my name's Corby, thestrongest man In McComb.

Speaker 2 (46:55):
Name a handful of people who can squat more than
me, but that's not my goal.

Speaker 1 (46:59):
The MacTown, madman Corby.

Speaker 2 (47:02):
Foxall.
No, but in all seriousness.

Speaker 1 (47:05):
We will get you his direction.
If you gotta start slow, he'llstart you slow.
If you wanna come in and hitthe ground running, he'll get
you running.
He'll get you running.
He will get you running.
But no, he'll, uh, work out aplan for you so that, um, you
feel like you're gettingsomewhere and not just spinning
your tires, eating your saladcovered in ranch.

Speaker 2 (47:29):
