Whewwww! This was a conversation we needed to have. In this episode, I dive into the real and raw truth about Black mental health and the Black church—how our faith has been a source of healing but also, at times, a barrier to getting the help we need. We talk about why so many of us avoid therapy, the harm of over-spiritualizing mental health struggles, and, most importantly, how we can do better.
Listen, Jesus and therapy can go hand in hand. Prayer is powerful, but so is professional help. We have to stop telling people to ‘just pray about it’ and start making space for real healing—mind, body, and spirit.
I had so much fun recording this episode, and I hope it blesses you. If it resonates, share it with your church, your family, your friends—anybody who needs to hear this. And if you’re struggling, please know you are not alone, and you deserve to heal. Grab ya liquor and ya bud big baby, and let's talk about it!
