(00:02):
And welcome to a new episode of Digital Coffee Gaming Brew. And I'm your host
Brett Deister. Have you guys ever wondered why your games are just never
optimized very well? And it just always seems like
no matter how much you tweak it, it just runs terribly.
Metal Gear Solid just came out and people are having a
terrible time. And why does it seem like devs never take the time to
(00:25):
optimize it? They rely on amd, fsr,
Nvidia, dlss, Intel XESS to
optimize forum. Well that's where we talking about
in the main topic, but we're also going to be talking about Battlefield 6
reveal trailer. Also all the nitty gritties about that Elden Rings
Night Rains new difficulty mode. Crystal Dynamic is
(00:48):
hit with a layoff again. We also
got Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 year 2
DLC. They've announced that we're also going to be
Talking about Schedule 1 and its newest updates which brings a
rival cartel. Should be interesting
new patch for Metal Gear Solid, Delta Snake Eater
(01:10):
and also the new DLC expansion for Adam
Fall. And you talk about no Man's
Sky Voyager update, which is amazing because it's the
39th update and you still once you paid for it, you
still don't have to pay for it. It's amazing. I'm
blown away by what they do. Let's get on with the show.
(01:44):
Mmm, that's good.
Alright, so no Man's Sky Voyager as
it's called, will basically allow you to assemble a completely custom
ship piece by piece from a catalog of hundreds of possible
modules in a variety of sci fi atheistics.
Explore full creative choice over your Corvette
(02:05):
configuration furnishings. Select and
arrange each set of hull, every wing and apparel,
every internal corridor and bulkhead. Invite your friends
on board and transport them across the universe. Or step
out of the pilot seat and walk around the interior of your ship and
as it autopilots to its destination, you can also
(02:27):
skydive from it or spacewalk from it as well and take
refuge in your Corvette, maximize its stats and
potential and fight back against the Sentinel Horde in a
limited time community expedition. I mean this is its
39th update. They have kept on adding and
adding and adding where it's a completely different game from when it launched, which
(02:49):
everybody hated. Well, I didn't hate very much, but a lot of people really really
did hate it. And you still don't have to pay for
any extra stuff. You can pay for the game, it's usually
on sale and you can get all these updates for free. I mean, I don't
know of any developer that does the insanity that is
hello Games does for no Man's Sky.
(03:11):
It is crazy the amount of content they give
you for just a one time purchase with no
extra DLC shop with no battle pass,
nothing. You get absolutely one
time fee for all this stuff and it's amazing. And
they're making another game or new game, I should, I should say
(03:34):
in tandem to this one. And it's going to be more of
a fantasy open world, one with actual oceans and it,
I mean it's crazy what they're doing, but they're adding the tech that they learned
to do this from no Man's sky into the new
game as well. So I mean you have really no
excuse to not get this game. If you're looking for a space sim game that
(03:55):
gets updated more times than any other game I know of.
Beats out Elite Dangerous, beats out Star Citizen because it actually runs
well. I mean it's just
crazy what you can do and just walking
around spacewalking and like skydiving from your ship, I mean that's just
like cherry on top. I mean, well done. It's just
(04:17):
amazing what they're doing. I cannot express
that enough. All right, so
there is going to be a. A high difficulty
challenge mode called Deep of the Night is coming to Elden
Ring night rain in September 2025. The mode is
designed for experienced players who have navigated the game multiple times
(04:40):
in Deep of Night. Enemies will be stronger than the in other
modes and players cannot target specific Night Lords.
Interesting ongoing terrain challenges will not be reflected
in this mode. New items exclusive to Deep of
Night will include depths, relics and
weapons with both new and detrimental
(05:02):
effects. The mode features five depths with
each with 999 ratings. The
difficulty will increase as players descend and will
fluctuate based on wins and losses. The Deep
of the Night mode is set to go live September
11, 2025. So if you're really looking
(05:24):
for more headaches or more frustration or you just really
like to be challenged, challenged, this is the game for you.
I tried to play, but I. I don't hate the game. I
just. Just cannot get into it for some odd reason.
It's not a terrible game. I may be terrible, but it's not a
terrible game. I will say that these games exist
(05:46):
for a reason and it's good. They exist for a reason. I will not be
one of those gaming journals say you should be accessible to me. No, I
should just be better at it, to be honest. With you. But this is
great. I mean, for all you Elden Ring players out there
that have like curb stomped like all the
bosses have like done it like a ton of times,
(06:08):
this is for you. And I'm glad that they actually do this. I'm happy
they're doing this and this is going to be something great for you.
All right, moving on to Chris Dynamics and owned by
Embracer Group, is laying off an undisclosed number
of staff layoff was announced via LinkedIn. Citing Evolu
evolution evolving business conditions as the reason,
(06:31):
the studio stated that the decision was necessary to ensure long
term health and core creative priorities.
Crystal Dynamics is offering support and resources to laid off workers.
The future of the Tomb Raider franchise remains
unaffected by these layoffs. This marks the third round of layoffs since
Bracer Group acquired Crystal Dynamics in 2022.
(06:54):
The layoffs occurred shortly after Xbox canceled the
Perfect Dark reboot and shut down the initiative, which has been
working with Crystal Dynamics. Some former employees have linked their
layoffs to the cancellation of Perfect Dark.
So we basically saw one trailer
of Perfect Dark. It looked interesting enough, but I
(07:16):
wasn't sold on it, but it looked interesting enough to keep an eye on.
And then all of a sudden it was canned. And the funny part is
that Embracer group, like in 2022,
2021, 2020 was like buying up all these different
developers. Bought up Gearbox, bought up Crystal
Dynamics, bought up Volition. I mean, it was like on
(07:38):
a buying spree. And then all of a sudden the
Middle east partnership failed and they just
tanked. They got rid of everybody. They got rid of Volition,
they got rid of a bunch of developers because they just couldn't handle. They
sold off Saber Interactive to be independent again. They
sold Gearbox to be independent again. Or I think Take Two has
(08:02):
it now. But they sold them off because they just could not handle
all the debt they were acquiring because they couldn't get the Middle
east fund or whatever, the video game fund or whatever to go
through. And so they've been hurting and this is not.
This hasn't stopped. I mean, if you want to talk about
mismanagement, Bracer Group is the most mismanaged
(08:25):
I've ever seen. I mean, this is bad. You think Microsoft was bad?
All layoffs, they've been worse. I'm not saying all these layoffs are
great, but I'm just saying like, they have been like one of the worst for
layoffs. It's crazy how much they've been laying off. I
mean, I know they have Titanfall 2 in early access which is great,
but what other game are they really producing or actually
(08:48):
doing anything with? I have not heard anything from Tomb Raider and it's supposed to
be like this woke BS anyways, so I'm not really interested in it anymore as
it is. And so you have all this stuff going on and I'm pretty sure
Perfect Dark wasn't going to be great either. I mean the graphics are good, but
is the gameplay great? If Microsoft canned it,
more than likely it was not in a good state and they just like
(09:09):
we're moving on. Even though I would like to see another Perfect Dark do it
with a really well known company or well renowned
company that isn't just making games for the sake of active
activism. Because activism did
permeate for a while in gaming. It's been dialed back a little
bit, but it's still there.
(09:32):
All right, moving on to Warhammer 40K Space Marine
2 publisher Focus Entertainment has announced the content
plan for the game's second year of DLC covering
patch 10 to 15. Patch 10 is scheduled to for release on
September 4 and will introduce a playable Hell Brute
in PvP, three new weapons, the Chaos Spawn
(09:54):
Enemy and the Black Templars Companion pack. The content
roadmap includes a new Tech Marine class set to
release the in the first quarter of 2026, a new battle
Barge expansion and a new Siege map coming in
Q2 of 2026. Four
new operations, two new Eternal War
(10:15):
arenas, new Static Rams and Hellbrute
Onslaught game modes. New weapons include the
Pirate Blaster, the Pirate Cannon, the Power Axe,
finally the Combi Metal
Metalla and the Xenophase Blade,
new enemies and bosses and progression mechanics. The anniversary
(10:39):
update will also launch the second season pass, which
includes two DLCs of black Templars Champion Pack
and the Imperial Fist Cosmetic pack. This the Season
Pass 2 will offer nine new DLCs throughout the year,
featuring new Champion skins, armor pieces
and heraldry markings. Existing
(11:02):
chapters like the Blood Angels and the Salamanders will
receive new cosmetics, while chapters such as the Raptors, Iron
Hands and Char Show Duns will
also be included. That's a lot.
But hey, gotta give it to them. I mean they made a really great
sequel to Space Marines and it's still really good. I mean, if you haven't played
(11:25):
it yet, there's it's been on sale for quite a bit and this is just
getting better. Yeah, it's paid dlc, fine, whatever. But at least they're giving you
a lot of extra stuff and if you don't want to buy it, you don't
have to as well. But you can't fault them for that. They made a really
great Space Marines game that wasn't from Relic because
Relic made the original one which is really good and they made the second one.
(11:46):
They did remaster the first one which I don't think did as well,
there was issues with it, but this one
is good and they're making Space Marines 3 as well.
So in the meantime you can get this and keep on playing the game
makes it feel a little bit new, fresh new. The Power Axe finally
is coming to the game and it just
(12:09):
seems like a well rounded road map. If they hit everything and
it all comes according to plan. If it actually all good,
you're in it for a good time for Space Marines too. All right.
Schedule one yeah, I know we haven't talked about it in a long while, but
there's been a new update, version 0.4.0 which
includes several fixes improvement Rival
(12:32):
Cartel the Benzies family has been
introduced to the game as part of its of this update, players
voted on new features to be added to the game with
options including a police expansion, Rival Cartel or
shrooms update. The update also includes new
vehicles, items, hairstyles and a pump shotgun weapon.
(12:54):
Players can buy a manor in the Highland area after completing the
Benzi family storyline. The sole developer, TV GS
apologized for the delay in the update and mentioned personal challenges
including moving house and university exam. So fair enough. I
mean it's one guy making the game so you
can't really fault them too much for things happening if it's just one dude. But
(13:16):
the one dude made a very viral game that
no one saw coming and it still is really fun. I haven't played in a
while, but it's a really fun game and it needed a rival
cartel. It needs more like tension in the game, just not
like build up your drug business
and never have to worry about rival cartels. I mean it
(13:37):
did, it did say in the game that there was a rival cartel
like that didn't want you to do anything and then you just never see them
again. And it's kind of like okay, well is it, are they there? Is
there a rival cartel and you just did your business and
never have to worry about anything. But this just helps
bring a little bit more attention to the game, a little bit more difficulty of
(14:00):
the game besides just the cops because you can avoid the cops for the most
part if you're smart enough to do it. But this just
adds more to it. I hope they add more type of things like rival
gangs and rival cartels and makes it a little bit more difficult to
grow your business to kind of keep the tension going on. But all in all,
it's good.
(14:22):
All right, so Konami finally
released Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater and
well, it's not been going so well. Let's just be honest. There's a mixed review
on Steam because of performance issues. It
released officially released today, but it released two days earlier
for those that pre purchased the
(14:44):
deluxe one. But this patch addresses
several gameplay issues and problems that cause game crashes.
Specifically, issues fixed, including a crash late to the crocodile
cap, snake floating in the air after rolling and soft
blocking player progression. The patch does not
address performance issues that players have been experiencing.
(15:06):
So the problem is there's. There's a cap at 60 frames per
second and if you try to uncap it, it just makes it worse.
So don't try to do that at all. It just.
It's not going to do you any favors. So just have to
deal with the 60 frames per second cap if you can run it. And
I heard some people are like, it's even difficult to run that. I think it
(15:27):
just depends on the graphics card you're running. But I could
be wrong about that. I haven't really tried it out yet. But I
mean, it's sad. It's sad that this is happening because
Metal Gear has always been a great game. Stories have been
up and down. Sometimes I think the metal gear solid 5 wasn't the best story,
but it was a fun game. So there you go on that one.
(15:50):
All right, moving on to Atom Fall. So the story expansion DLC
for Atom Fall is titled the Red Strain, will be released on
September 16th. Developer of Atom Fall is Rebellion Developments. The
expansion will include a highly conf. New location and
plenty of mysteries to uncover. Further information about the expansion will be
announced in the coming weeks. Atom Falls currently available on the PlayStation
(16:14):
5, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
So. And it's also available on Game Pass. So
not a little, a lot. But hey, we're at least getting a new DLC for
like a Fallout type game because we haven't had a Fallout in a while. I
mean, yes, there's Fallout 76, but not as many people play that one.
We haven't had a proper new Fallout game. We've had Fallout 4.
(16:37):
That was a while ago. We haven't had a new one because they were like,
look, we're making an online Fallout. And everybody's like, we don't really
want that. But okay. And then it was released and nobody
really liked it. It was terrible. It was not a good state. It is finally
better now, but but it unfortunately took a long while
to get it fixed. So fall 76
(16:59):
is the last Fallout game we got. We got the Fallout
TV series on Amazon and that's probably the closest we'll get to a new fall
game for a while because they're working on the new Elder Scrolls. I don't know
what the status is on the new Fallout game, so maybe it's Vegas
2 or New Vegas 2. Maybe it's not. I don't know
because there really hasn't been much information about that one.
(17:22):
All right, moving on to Battlefield six because
there's been a whole new trailer that just
released And EA promises Battlefield 6 will provide the best
PC experience in the franchise history. The game will support 4K
resolution, ultra wide, ultra wide monitors
29 point, 21.9 or
(17:43):
32.9 HDR, uncapped frame rates
and gamepad support for PlayStation 5 and
Xbox. Players will be able
will have the ability to create and browse servers and there will be
a streamer and incognito modes. Great for those
people. So the
(18:04):
minimum requirement for this game is going
to be the RTX 2060
or the AMD RX 5600 XT or
the Intel's Arc A3 380 GPU with 6
gigs of video memory, 16 gigs of RAM, the Core
i5 8400 or the Ryzen 5 2600. Wow,
(18:27):
that's going way back. And 55 gigs of
hard drive space, which the beta was 75 gigs, so they actually
crunched it. They took off another 20 gigs
W to Dice and DEA for that one. The
requirement for Battlefield 6 was slightly lower than those of the open beta, which was
75 gigs of RAM. The game will
(18:48):
incorporate Nvidia AMD and Intel Super
Resolution Latency Reduction techniques
DLSS4FSR4XESS2
for frame generation. Also, EA has resumed
the Battlefield Labs playtest program for Battlefield 6. The open beta for
Battlefield 6 has concluded, but players can still participate in the
(19:09):
playtesting before the game's official launch on October
10, 2025. The play test will involve
testing new maps, gameplay modes and adjustments based on feedback from the open
beta and the developers
discussed the dlss and all that stuff, but
it mentioned that DLSS and FSR can produce issues such as
(19:31):
muddy shadows, ghosting artifacts and noticeable
latency. Battlefield 6 aims to run well without
relying on DLSS FSR XESS according to the
technical Director he states that the default performance target
for Battlefield 6 are set without
upscaling technology. The game's. The game's mission to
(19:53):
is to optimize performance for a wide range of PC hardwares and consoles.
Performance of Battlefield 6 was positively
received well during the August beta testing. It was ran really
well. The system requirements, they're relatively modest. Like I
said before, I mean the minimum is the 2060,
(20:14):
that's one of the 5000 series. Now that's like five,
that's, that's three generations ago. That's
crazy. And then for amd it's the RX
5600 XT which was before the
6000 series. It was like a stopgap. It was a weird stop
gap with that one. But I mean this is great to see that they're
(20:36):
actually like making games
that are optimized. Which I mean leads me to the main thing about the
optimization of games. This is the first time I've heard a developer like, look it,
we're trying to make our game optimized with or without
fsr, DLSS or xess. Because the problem
is that most game developers have not. They've
(20:57):
relied on these types of tech to help
optimize the game which has made for less performance wise
and a lot of headaches from people because they're like, look at, I just want
a game to run well. If it adds to it with
these AI super sampling latency
things, great. But I don't want it to have to turn it on just
(21:19):
to have good frame rates. That's not the point of these things. I get it
that all, all these companies are like yes, it will help your performance,
but it's like, yeah, but you can also optimize it. So it will, it's an
added benefit to your performance. Not that it's a mandatory
to have good performance. And that's what a lot of times we've run into
is that without it you don't have good performance, but with it you have
(21:44):
okay performance.
It shouldn't be that way, it should be this way. That's what it was
before all this dlss, FSR and xess.
It was how can we make this optimized for
as much PC hardware as we can do? And that's what DICE
smartly did this time around. And it's gonna pay off because I play the
(22:06):
beta and it was pretty well optimized. I didn't really run to too many
problems. I ran through, I mean some weird artifacting and stuff, but
it really wasn't that bad. I mean, 2042 was miles
worse when the beta was happening. That was bad.
But this one is like a whole nother world. I
mean, it's amazing. Even Balf. Even 20:42 and I play it right now on
(22:28):
the Iwo Jima map. Just getting out of the game takes like two minutes. It's
like, just want to get out of the game. Like, I don't want to look
at the screen for a minute or two. Like, why does it take so
long? Take so long to get out of the game? Just back into Windows too.
And it's like, it didn't really take me that long to get out of
Battlefield 6. Like, they optimized this game. They did not optimize
2042, which made us think that it was a rush
(22:52):
by EA just to get it out the door, which they shouldn't have done
well. They should have just scrapped it and start over.
So for so far, right now, EA is doing the right decisions now.
But prior to that, they did this to Dragon Age and then this, the Battlefield,
where they like went one direction, completely went the
opposite direction. And it was this weird
(23:14):
hodgepodge of different ideas that just didn't fit. But
they try to make it fit. And it's like every time you try to make
something fit that doesn't really mesh well with the other
design philosophy. It just looks weird, it plays weird,
and nobody likes it. That's why Dragon Age valeguard
failed so badly, because it was like four or five different
(23:36):
design philosophies all rolled into one and it made
no sense. This is why you optimize your game.
Optimize it for as many platforms or
PC hardwares as you can. This is good proof that they try
to do this and you don't have to upgrade to the latest graphics card just
to get okay performance.
(23:58):
Like, I know we said not to pre order, but this should be signifying that
they're on the right track because
it's crazy. I mean, even Battlefield 2042 in 2021
required the 3060 Ti
for 60 frames per second.
(24:20):
And the new one is going to go. The minimum is going to be
the 2060, the generation before the 3000 series.
That's crazy. That's crazy talk,
but it's great. And I think more developers need to figure this part
out. Optimize for hardware and then
(24:42):
use the boosting tools not optimized
with boosting tools because it just doesn't work very well.
I mean, Unreal Engine 5 has been the biggest catastrophe
that we've all seen because it's just not good.
It isn't. Not at all.
(25:03):
So what do you think? Do you think Battlefield 6 is on the right track?
You decided to play it? Or what About Space Marine 2? Do you like this?
The year two updates? Are you surprised that no Man's sky
is still doing updates for free? You know anything else you want.
