Alright gang, in our season finale we’re asking “can a man live on completion prizes alone?”
The year is 1998. The place is Japan.
An aspiring comedian by the name of Nasubi auditions to be on Denpa Shonen’s new TV show with the hopes of breaking into showbiz.
Selected as the sole contestant, Nasubi is then taken to a small apartment, stripped naked and told that everything he needs to survive from this point on, must be won via magazine and radio contests.
Oh, and if that wasn’t traumatic enough, millions of people at home will be watching on a weekly basis.
Nasubi’s Prize Life is a story that is so ridiculous it shouldn’t be true. But it is.
It’s a story that is cruel, compelling, grotesque, puzzling, and psychologically fascinating.
A pretty fitting way to finish our fourth season then.
