Matt and Allie are back with this month's clinical article(s)! This month Matt pulled together three separate articles that cover repairing, testing, and strengthening the ACL as it relates to sensorimotor dysfunction. The first article dives into what sensorimotor dysfunction is and how ACL injuries affect it. They also found that repairing a patient's ligament, instead of replacing it, decreases the probability of patients needing surgery on their other knee. Hear about how they compare a patient's function based on their visual reliance. The second article tests ACL improvement and early implementation of treating/ testing the patient's proprioception. The third article is a case study where a patient's improvement in PT was being held back by his own brain. His therapists threw in a few distractions to keep his brain work while his body is exercising, and his confidence and functionality improved significantly.
