You've got to purchase ticketsin advance or we would recommend
purchasing tickets in advance.
They're $15, and they meet atCity Hall.

Speaker 1 (04:12):

you can go.
This is one of their signatureevents.

Yeah, have some great actinggoing on.

Speaker 3 (04:25):

Speaker 1 (04:26):
It's an exciting time .

Speaker 3 (04:28):
So, speaking of the Historic Sharp House Players,
yeah, they'll be hosting this isalso an annual event.
I believe Tom Dooley Barbecueand Bluegrass this year
featuring the annual event Ibelieve Tom Dooley Barbecue and
Bluegrass this year featuringthe Local Boys, who are a really
great bluegrass band.
So you've got great food.
The doors open at 530.
The Local Boys start at 6.
So you've got barbecuevarieties, sauces, potato salad,

(04:50):
all the things.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Milk-sopped corn.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Milk-sopped corn.
I'm going to have to go justbecause I don't know what that
is.
Lots of desserts, yeah, so justa really cool spot, and that
space back there behind theSharp House is really beautiful.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
All the events at the Sharp House are amazing and
they make some good food.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
Great addition to the downtown.

That's right, yeah, and I thinkif you go out to the Facebook
page for Stork Sharp House, theyhave tickets on event break

(05:27):
that you can buy there.
If you've been following along, you know that coming into
summer I always get very excitedabout U-Pick agriculture.
We have an amazing lineup ofU-Pick agriculture in Iredell
County, but specifically moreStatesville Harmony.
You know the greaterStatesville area and this year

(05:49):
I'm excited to share thatlavender picking is back.
So we had a lavender farm backin 2019 coming through the
pandemic.
You know they went a differentway and lavender isn't easy to
grow.
We shouldn't take it forgranted.
But we have two lavender farmsone Second Wind Perennial Farms
in Stony Point and the otherFarmer's Daughter at Keeper

(06:10):
Creek.
So Keeper Creek's been in MountUlla.
Keeper Creek's been around fora long time.
It was taken over by family andthey now call it Farmer's
Daughter at.
Keeper Creek's been around fora long time.
It was taken over by family andthey now call it Farmer's
Daughter at Keeper Creek.
They do a lot of other thingstoo, like blueberries, but both
of those have lavender pickinghappening right now, so you
don't want to miss out on that.
Also, it's blueberry pickingtime.

(06:32):
So last weekend we were told bya lot of our partners that do
blueberry picking thatblueberries are ripe and ready
for picking.
So last weekend we were told bya lot of our partners that do
blueberry picking thatblueberries are ripe and ready
for picking.
So we actually have sixblueberry picking farms in our
area.
I'm just going to mention themreal quick Cowan Farm and
Vineyard on Snow Creek Road inStatesville.
Greachy's Garden on MosswoodRoad in Olin.

(06:55):
Again Farmer's Daughter atKeeper Creek on Triplet Road in
Mount Ola.
Knox Blueberries they do agreat job out there at Oak
Forest Drive in Statesville.
P&c Berries they kind of have ayear-round greenhouse.
They do really cool things outthere, greenhouse with all
different vegetables and flowers, aquaponics they do out there,

(07:15):
pea and seed berries and thenPrevet Family Farm on
Williamsburg Road in Olin.
So if you are looking forsomething to get out and explore
with the family blueberrypicking, I highly recommend it.
And then something new that wefound at Beaver Farms.

(07:37):
Beaver Farms just finished upHoward Farms and Beaver Farms
just finished up with strawberrypicking, just in time to jump
right into you pick flowers.
So Beaver Farms has wildflowers.
That's happening now that youcan pick and they're on Beaver
Farm Road here in Statesville, and then our friends the Howards
, amy and Brian, out at HowardFamily Farm I saw just this last

(08:00):
week.
They have these beautifulsunflowers and they're doing
you-pick flowers too.
So lavender, wildflowers,sunflowers, blueberries.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Very cool Tis the season.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
That's awesome.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Yeah, you want to make sure and not miss that here
in Statesville.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
No, and that's awesome and you know great to be
able to go get that agriculture, that produce and have sort of
an engaging experience as well.
But if you don't have time toget to all of those different
farms, make time.
We've got several farmer'smarket opportunities here in
Statesville where they bring allthis stuff to one central
location.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
A lot of these farms bring them in too, yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
So the Rotary's Farmer's Market is downtown,
that's the corner of West FrontStreet and Meeting Street.
That's Saturdays from 7 to noon, and then the evening.
Farmer's Market is everyThursday at Pecan Park which is
back behind.
It's in the corner lot behindGroucho's and Red Buffalo and
everything their.
Thursday is from 3.30 to 6.
And then there's also the firstand third Tuesday of every

(09:00):
month.
Fort Dobbs has the artisanmarket there up at historic Fort
Dobbs.
So you get to go sample, purchase some cool products and
enjoy Fort Dobbs as well.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
So lots of cool opportunities.
There is no reason that youcannot take advantage of fresh
produce in the states of NorthCarolina and these farmers
markets.
They do a really good job.
Lots of farmers come out, soplease get out there and support
them.
Saturdays, tuesdays andThursdays, that's right.
You can run the gamut and go toall of them or you might find

(09:33):
your favorites, but they all doa very good job and we are
thankful for them.
We are also thankful for ourfriends at Randy Mary and Ford
Lincoln for making our communityevents calendar possible and,
as we always say, there's no way.
I think there's 3,400 eventsout on the community calendar
right now.
Now those run from fitness andactivity classes which are also

(09:58):
amazing.
You've got some amazing LazyRiver things going on at the
pool now yeah, the leisure poolstuff.
But we have live musichappening at least four if not
five nights a week downtownoutside of downtown, if not five
nights a week downtown outsideof downtown.

(10:18):
And if you go to statesflinccomand you click on the events
calendar, you can filter by livemusic, you can filter by
performing arts, you can filterby all these amazing things to
really dig in to what'simportant to you, to see what's
happening in Statesville.
So we encourage you to do that.
There's no way we couldpossibly highlight them all.

(10:38):
We try and highlight the topthings that could be for
everyone when things pop up.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
Yeah, you know, I mean like there may be
organizations that all of asudden it's like oh, we've got
this pop-up concert that's goingto happen in two weeks that we
weren't aware of.
So, yeah, I think, using thecommunity calendar to kind of
drive your interest and thenfollow those organizations that
feel like promote the eventsthat you're into and that way
you're in the know.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
And if you're a business, the community calendar
is free.
So you know, reach out if youdon't know how, make sure, the
further in advance you put yourevents out there, the more
likely it is we can see them andfeature them.
But we appreciate yourpartnership.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Despite there being nothing to do here.
